It's not a confession, but more of an unpopular opinion/situation,..... NON-NEGOTIONAL RULES of mine. I am taking photos for my use, with MY camera or phone. I will never again rely on anyone else to text, email, make me copies. Based on past experience years, decades ago.... the other photo taker, NEVER gave me copies (I asked several times). I don't care if the other persons camera is better, fancier, more expensive. I AM TAKING MY OWN PHOTOS. In the time wasted going back and forth about it, we both could have taken our photos and we'd be done already. The person has tried to guilt me, coerce me, over-rule me. I will not give in on this ever. I do NOT loan out my scrapbooks. If someone else wants to make copies of my scrapbook pages, I will happily meet them at copy place with all of my scrapbooks. But, my scrapbooks are not ever leaving my possession. I will bring them to Family gatherings, and they can be looked at under my supervision, then they are going back to my car. Years ago, I had two pages go missing from a scrapbook that I had brought to showoff at a Family gathering. Someone removed them from the scrapbook, no idea who. I didn't realize it until a much later date, that two layouts had been removed. I don't care if anyone thinks I am a bitch, selfish, uncooperative, disagreeable, etc... my rules are firm and non-negotiable. I don’t bring my scrapbooks anywhere for anything My kids look at them at my house but that about it. They can bring them to my funeral where I will no longer care lol One exception, I made a scrapbook for my dad for his car, he brought it everywhere to everything. After my dad died my nephew, who inherited the car, did not want the scrapbook so I have it back. But I still don’t consider it ‘mine’ so if people ask I bring it cause it’s my dad’s and he brought it everywhere.

My confession:
I have too much stuff & not enough at the same time lol I have too much so that I get overwhelmed sometimes but then there’s things I do not have & feel I need.
I dread packing it all up to move though.
My weakness is dies- I love dies and I do use them so not a waste

When I moved (both times) I got so tired of trying to figure out who I could give my purged items to, I just threw said items away. And it felt good not to be burdened by stuff I’d never use or never use again, or projects I’d never finished.
Now I’m not so hard on myself if I don’t like something I thought I would. It just goes in the garbage and I consider it a lesson learned.

- I dislike typed journaling on lined cards where the lines don't line up with the typing. Personally I would erase or cover the lines if I couldn't get the typing to track. Ugh I hate that too. I would make a different text box for each line just to avoid that. I recently learnt that you can change the leading in PSE to fix that. - I don't like D-ring binder albums either. I don't like the big gap between the 2 sides and I don't like how big they are. 12x12 binders are the worst. When people take a big photo, chop it in 2 and put it in page protectors there is a huge gap. The picture looks wrong to me because it doesn't line up. It is nicer when the picture is out of page protectors so the gap is smaller. I still wish people would account for the gap.

I love that he took the scrapbook you made him everywhere. That made me tear up a bit. He sounds like he was a very cool dad.

I am a digital scrapbooker so these will not apply to everyone.
Annoyances - Template designers who have a set of 4 templates but 2 are rotations of each other. No sorry your set has 3 templates. I can rotate it myself if I want to. - Digital sets where the preview is so crowded, I can barely understand what is included. Having more photos to look through helps me a lot. - Some designers are so generous with templates in multiple sizes. Like they give you all the popular TN sizes (4.25x8.25, 5x8.25, 3x8, 3.5x5, 3x4) in one set. Then others charge for each different size if they make them at all. I have a hard time picking which set to buy.
Confession - I unfollow people on instagram when they make too many pages. Even if I like their work. It just makes me feel bad about my own output.

- I get annoyed when YouTubers say” you all know how much I love…..” No, I don’t. I feel the same way. Or when they say "Hey everyone, it's your girl Sandy." NO. You are not my girl and I don't speak that way. Eww.

sleepingbooty This is why scrapbooking and talking about it is so fun...I love camera icons. I even buy camera paper to fussy cut the cameras for embellishing. I hope we can still be friends! scrappyrabbit and linda I have so many albums! I am a little bit more selective about what I scrap for the grandkids. But, my kids know I don't want anyone to keep the scrapbooks out of guilt. Get a dumpster when I am gone. I had the joy of creating them. That is enough. Now, of course I hope they'll keep some of them!

This is sort of related, or at least your comment reminded me of it - I hate when a scrapper starts a bazillion extra projects to add to their docket of content sharing. They start with scrapping - excellent. Then they add their bullet journal. Then add their private journal. Then add their book journal. Then they add their sticker book. It drives me nuts. I’ll subscribe on YouTube for the scrapbooking, and enjoy the once a week (or whatever) scrap videos, but then they tack on all this stuff I have no interest in and my feed fills up with content I have no desire to see. I don’t want to sift through a half dozen “this is how I stamped my journal” videos to find the one scrapbooking video posted that week. I feel like they’re just seeking ways to make more content. But watering down the content with all this filler stuff is not it. Quantity over quality! All this does is tempt me to unsubscribe. 🤷🏻♀️

Put me in the pew with people who...
have too much stuff, but always end up buying more
buy tools and gadgets cuz they look cool and fun but then don't use them cuz they take time to learn how
like to learn new techniques and try new trends but only follow those that work with my own projects
hate packing and unpacking that stuff but love to go occasionally to scrap with others
forget to put the tops onto inks and glues so they dry up quickly
take photos of others all the time, but hate having my own picture taken
And I don't know if this pew is empty as yet, but I never clean my scraproom unless it reaches critical mass--can't find ANYTHING, or stuff is falling off the counter tops.

I love this thread so much. Confessions...
-- I have a smallish craft storage space (6 cubes, one bookshelf), but still, I have too much stuff. I often buy things and ignore them. Like, I have a filled shopping bag from the Scrapbook Expo sitting on the floor. I put it there when I got home from the event, two weeks ago now. Did I really need to buy all of that? And then kit subscriptions over the years, many sets of which are still intact and unused. -- I was invited to be a guest designer by a popular scrapbook company--and then was totally ghosted. I followed-up 3-4 times by email, inquiring about next steps and always got a cheery "we'll be in touch soon" response. But after nearly 18 MONTHS, nothing ever came of it. I am generally a kind person and not a psycho, hahaha, but I have to say, the heartache over the situation sometimes tempts me to go scorched earth on this company. I was sooooo excited and gushed about the opportunity to family and friends, but now I can't even bring myself to use their products. It's just so messed up. Why did they do that to me?
Unpopular opinions:
-- I don't like chunky items like wood veneer and thick chipboard, but I especially hate acrylic words and phrases. -- I don't understand the appeal of traveler's notebooks for scrapbooking. The size, all the gluing, the exposed and occasionally mangled binding. -- I don't finish chatty YouTube videos. I don't want to watch someone make layout choices in real time. The best ones speed up the video and record a voiceover of highlights. -- I am put off my scrapbookers who don't seem to scrapbook with purpose. Like, here's a random photo (or a repeated photo!) just to use up product. Why??? -- I question the lives and choices of hyper-productive scrapbookers, the ones who post something new each day or have bookshelves full of albums. I only work part-time hours, but I can barely complete a couple layouts a month. I'd love to do more, but there's children and eating and shopping and cleaning and socializing. I also have other hobbies...?

Now I’m not so hard on myself if I don’t like something I thought I would. It just goes in the garbage and I consider it a lesson learned. I love this. As someone who sometimes feels a ridiculous burden because of their stuff, I like this attitude of being a able to just let things go. I had a particular piece of apple patterned paper that I absolutely hated. I bought it because my mom told me it was really nice (she's a teacher) and bought it for herself. I have no use for it. I kept coming across it and feeling guilty that I didn't like or use it, and I realize that this is totally irrational because it was probably 80 cents when I bought it and I should just let it go. It's not worth the real estate or guilt. I've gotten much better at sticking with what I like, and I tend to like things for a long time, so I need to be able to let go of what I don't love. Other confessions, I like chatty scrappers like Shimelle and Janet from RTS, but I sometimes fall asleep to their videos. My boyfriend in particular finds Janet to be a sleep aid, so he will encourage me to put an RTS video on and watch while he falls asleep at night. I have thrown away tons of mixed media because I also have full set syndrome and want to have it all. So much of it dried up unused. Now I only buy the colour I need for a particular project, and try to stick to dry mediums over wet so I don't have to toss it all out.

This thread has been entertaining.
My confession is that I have barely scrapbooked since November. I've managed to do a few things here and there, but feel like I have been missing my mojo. I know I need to accept that 1) I was in cancer treatment recovery and 2) back to work full time in office means 2-3 hour commutes and I just don't have as much time. The only good part is the other night I made a page, just to do it, I had a large photo to scrap, so very little other embellishing required.
Also confession: I am holding onto some inkpads that I don't use, and don't even work that great, and I don't know why! I need to throw them out.

For the love of God, WHY do so many people who post layouts on social media not just post the darn layout? Instead, they artfully arrange some supplies, a lovely pair of scissors, or whatever, around it. It is distracting from the layout. Sometimes people arrange so much around it that I just can't differentiate between layout and artfully arranged supplies without effort...and the impact of the layout is lost. Do they not think their layouts are good enough, so they artfully arrange supplies to make them look better? I don't know. It just doesn't make sense to me. I confess this annoys me more than it should.

For scrapbooking, I will be brutally honest and say I feel kind of ill about my paper. I have so much paper. I vowed to myself that I am not buying more paper, so I am going to try really hard to keep that promise. Confession #1: I don't think I know how to "message board". I keep getting in trouble, or what I say goes sideways and up in flames. I have to make sure I post nothing on the NSBR board, because every time I do things get taken wrong or out of context, and then my feelings get hurt, so I just don't go over there anymore. I'm not on any other social media so I am the first to admit I am probably doing something wrong...but it's confusing to me because I feel like whatever I say gets taken wrong. But other people say stuff and don't seem to get that level of blowback... Confession #2: My family isn't great about the time I spend scrapbooking. I have tried carving out time, I have tried setting boundaries, and DH is still kind of crabby about "how long scrapbooking takes." I get it, he doesn't have solo hobbies, and he would rather I was doing things with him. I am truly grateful that I have a DH that wants to spend lots of time with me. I just hear how people go to weekend crops or all day crops and it seems like a lot of people have families that are supportive of that, and I wish mine was more so.

I confess this annoys me more than it should. Hahaha. Not sure if you *want* an answer, but I can help explain why I do this. I'm on a DT where the main project image with the company logo is supposed to be horizontal or square but not vertical. So, for a vertical layout, it is suggested that we put product to the side(s) to crop the image horizontal/square. Also, the DT was provided with a specific white cardstock for creating layouts, and projects must also be photographed on a white background. For me, it's too much. I saw another DT member slip some product behind her layout here and there to create some differentiation, and I was like, genius! I'm doing that now. So... guilty! But for reasons.

I have often been tempted to leave a comment about how much I love the way they layered the additional papers behind the white "mat"

I have another confession, and also an unpopular opinion in one: I don't keep all the little bits of cut off paper from collections or paper pads. I often see youtubers sharing a collection they are trying to bash and the front cover will be stuffed full of little slivers and weird little shapes and offcuts. I am not a here's a 3" square I cut a 2" circle out of but the rest might be useful kind of scrapper, that scrap is definitely going in the bin. In fact, I don't even keep collections or paper pads together, once I've cut into a sheet it goes into my scraps drawer.

Mine is all about YouTube videos. 1. If you start your video with the finger wiggles, then I am out. 2. If your video splash screen doesn’t show the finished project, I am not going to watch. 3. I listen with the sound off most of the time. If you haven’t started the project within a minute or so, I will forward the video. Somewhere around the 3-5 minute mark, if you haven’t started, then I am out. 4. If your cat walks across your project at any point, then I am out. 5. I am never going to watch your haul video.

kmage I’m on NSBR but no longer post much. I refuse to discuss any topic that involves politics or a social justice topic. Even benign subjects can be polluted with politics and I nope out of those conversations fast. That also means I don’t always find much to read there.

I get so sick of managing them, but especially for cardmaking small bits can be very useful. So I often throw them gently into the bin next to me where I can fish them back out if I need them! I love finishing a collection/paper pad so I can toss all the remaining bits that are too small to use. But just as often I get to what I think is the end and realize that if I arrange the scraps just so I can squeeze 10 more cards out of that pile of junk (and sometimes it's worth the trouble).

Having more photos to look through helps me a lot. Okay, now we're talking! I will add my little minor peeves: When designers don't provide separate previews for elements and for papers. I need to see the whole length of the paper, not just a little snippet poking out above the big cluster of elements. If I can't see the papers properly, I'm less likely to buy the kit. When designers don't show sample layouts using the kits. Sometimes I am unsure about buying a kit. If there are sample layouts, it often pushes me over the line to buy it. No sample layouts and I'm unsure about buying? I probably won't buy.

Okay, this is a confession I kind of hate myself for: I can't stand watching YouTube videos from many UK/Aussie/Kiwi crafters because of their voice. I think it comes down to the fact that I don't like high-pitched voices in general (I'm super sensitive to all sorts of sounds, helloooooo misophonia), and when it's combined with an accent that's not American, the non-American pronunciation actually highlights the pitch of their voice because my brain has to spend more energy to process what's being said. I hate it because it feels very much like internalized misogyny because most of these crafters are women (I always think about how when Hillary Clinton was running for president, there were endless think pieces about how men called her "shrill" when the same statements from a man would be seen as commanding).
I think it also might have something to do with the type of regional accent it is, as the "posh" accents bother me more (at least, I think that's how it would be described, I'm not an expert on differentiating British regional accents). The accent that bothers me is kind of like the stereotypical 90s Valley Girl, but British. I'm not sure if this will make sense to anyone else, but it does in my head.
I don't want to name names because these crafters are lovely people and their voice can't be changed, so this is not an indictment of them, it's just about the fact that I watch craft videos to relax and if someone's voice grates on my nerves, it's an automatic no from me.
