This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page/project when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge.

Happy Canada Day and Happy 4th of July to all our Pokeys!
Seems impossible that the summer break is one third over.
I hope we each find time to do some therapeutic scrapping this month. When it gets up into the 90's outside I love sitting in my cool scraproom where I can be creative.
Check in and let us know what's going on in your life. Hugs.

Happy July, Pokeys! Hoping the month is filled with whatever you think the perfect July should hold. Fun? Relaxation? Sun and sand? Family? Travel? A cool room to scrap? Whatever it is you dream of this month, I hope it is yours.
I am looking forward to seeing some of my family this month. Spending a bit of time in my garden, and alot of time out on the shaded deck. And, of course, playing with paper...

Happy Canada Day to our Canadian Pokies! And enjoy the long weekend to all who are celebrating this weekend.
I need to count points from Q2 this morning - meant to do it last night but we watched a movie as a family instead (Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore) and then went to sleep.
July plans - well, I'll have my house to myself starting tomorrow morning until Sunday evening of the following weekend so I'll be scrapping. My sister and her dh are stopping by for 2 days mid-month - her ILs live several days south of us so after they visit them, they'll visit us on the way home. Depending on when they stop overnight on their drive home from us, they might end up meeting my older two for dinner as their hotel is only about an hour from them.

Welcome, refugeepea! I am lucky enough to have met you and your children, but tell us a little about you. I thought of you the other night when there was so much thunder and lightning. The news said you got a lot more than we did. We got a lot of rain, but none in the carport and in the house this time. On this thread we chat when we have time, but don't feel obligated to check in every day. Post what you create if you want. I love seeing your pocket pages. There are some really great Peas who post here. We are happy to have you join!

Hi all! Happy Canada Day! I have been totally swamped with school related stuff since the last time I posted. Been dealing with the relating of aging parents as well. It's definitely tough. I didn't go to any of the festivities today; I just wasn't in the mood. It is very hot today and I didn't feel like dealing with it
Friend coming to visit from Victoria tomorrow.

Have fun with your friend! Thanks! I have a few last work things, plus I need to do insurance & go to dentist this coming week. After the 8th I'm happy to host some crops. The place I go for physio is closed until the 18th, so I shall have to find a way to get some exercise around home.

Welcome, refugeepea. Drop in any time, whether you are scrapping or not! And wecome back, cycworker. I hope you have a great visit with your friend today. Yesterday was cool here with rain threatening, plus one of the performer's family members had passed suddenly, so the Canada Day festivities were muted. I met dd & family at the breakfast, we had free ice cream, watched the parade, joined a few sparcely populated kids' games, and walked around town showing dgs some of the places his mom used to hang out. Then we came home to the farm to plant a row of potatoes cuz Grampa's weather app predicted rain over night. They went back through town for the peroghi supper, but we stayed home. They are checking out of the lake lot today, bringing the holiday trailer here, so we will have supper together. I had already stripped their beds to be prepared for the cleaning lady Tuesday, so dd & family will be staying in their trailer on the yard tonight. (I KNEW there was a reason I always leave things til last minute LOL) Okay, gotta get moving. See ya later!

Happy Canada day to all our wonderful Canadian peas!! I know it's late, but it's also a holiday weekend for you, so it works And happy belated bday to MARIBETHR!! I don't usually catch up on the last posts of the previous month, but I'm glad I did since I had missed MARIBETHR's bday, and heck yes kitbop I'm in on a crop tonight or tomorrow! And I'll actually be scrapping lol. Would anyone be interested in one tomorrow morning at the usual noon-4 EST or is that going to be bad for this weekend? Welcome refugeepea! I'm the slowest scrapper in pealand so it will be nice to have someone more my speed in this pokey thread lol. Which really isn't the reason I join in here. I have loved getting to know these ladies better! cycworker I'm sorry you have so much on your plate. I agree with kellyr21, it's been a tough year. And honestly, it's exhausting to live in this time. kitbop I DID see that Murders season 2 is out! I haven't started it yet, but since I lost my Tuesday TV with This is Us ending, I'll probably start this one Tuesday. We are also still working our way through Stranger Things. Linda I hope you enjoy the week to yourself! I know I would - well if it meant a week to myself and no work to interrupt. But if I don't work, no new pretties lol. grammadee enjoy your time with the family! Rain here this morning but it's going to get hot again once the rain stops. I'm really over the heat and humidity. We've had some pretty hot days going back to mid May. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I wish us all peace and calm as we navigate our lives.

grammadee - enjoy the time with your family. Sorry that the festivities were muted - sad for the performer joyfulnana - I'll try and join in whenever a crop is on this weekend - just need to make sure my tablet stays charged so I don't unexpectedly drop out. Hot here also but a rainy week ahead is predicted. At some point I need to do some yard work -it should probably be today before it rains but...we'll see

Unusual day at "work" for me today: landed in ER myself at 9:30 after having some strange cardiac-like symptoms. Got home at 4pm after 2 EKGs, 2 rounds of blood work, a day of cardiac monitoring, a chest x-ray and a leg ultrasound. I am grateful for universal health care guys. I'm absolutely fine. It was most likely a "transient" arrhythmia which obviously had gone before my coworkers got me to ER. But it left me a little shaken for sure. And, my bloodwork showed that I have a virus...so obviously they covid tested me...meaning I'm not allowed to work tomorrow. Moral of the story: I can probably crop tomorrow if you want to open a crop joyfulnana!!! I may well open a crop this evening anyways - 7 pm EST?

Oh kitbop! That must have been scary. But I guess if you are going to have a cardiac incident, the hospital is the best place to have it! Hoping it is transient enough to move on out and leave you alone! Glad you are feeling better. And hey--a free Sunday!

Thanks, all. Had a lovely visit. She arrived at around 1:30; we met down at the waterfront. There was a terrible band playing. Metal-ish. I was surprised they'd go with that on a Saturday afternoon. Anyway... we went in the other direction for our 'walk'. I use the quotes because I was of course wheeling. And please note I pushed myself pretty much the whole way. The place I go to exercise is closed until July 18, so I'm going to have to find a way to keep moving in the meantime. Hoping the weather is ok & then I can go out & wheel up to the corner, at least. Before S arrived, I went to our local craft store (Crafty Capers, grammadee = I can't remember if you popped in the before you left last visit?) and picked up some stuff I had on hold. I have church tomorrow. To those who are they praying kind, I could use some. I seem to have insulted or angered a friend. She won't speak to me. I have left it alone because frankly I had too many other things on my mind to deal with it. She was here; a group of us were making cards... was the Friday of the week of the school shooting in Texas. I was uncomfortable & asked her to please change subject She didn't. I asked again, when I noticed others were also uncomfortable with the topic (some are teachers, some have young kids, some both). She ignored me again Finally, I say I'll be back, I'm going to my apartment to use my own washroom (We have a public wheelchair accessible washroom right by the common room we were in, but I genuinely don't like it as much as my own). I was trying to discreetly extricate myself. She must have picked up something in my tone or something, because she says, 'What's your problem?" And my fight or flight instinct kicked in. I raised my voice & said "I've asked to change the subject twice now. I find it upsetting & I don't want to hear more about it." She snapped back at me & then she left. And she hasn't spoken to me since. I apologized for not saying goodbye (sent her a FB message). She didn't respond. I honestly didn't realize she was leaving, because she went in the direction of my apartment (thought she went to go get a bottle of water - my friends know they can do that. Building is super secure so I don't lock my apt when I am just down in the common room). Anyway... I am not doing well with the silent treatment, so I'm going to have to address it one way or the other. Off to read my book. Want to go to bed early tonight

Ugh cycworker - I don't think you did anything wrong at all - she was the one who failed "social listening 101" in your get together! Very antagonistic, "What's your problem" is an awful turn of phrase to use on anyone (talk about not taking ownership of her own behaviour!?!) grammadee - glad you got out to make an effort at Canada Day. We ended up doing nothing, and I don't even have a photo. It's one of my favourite holidays because there is no pressure for any specific tradition except maybe wearing red You can eat what you want, go where you want, and nobody has to buy anybody presents Oh, and it's summer. That's a key component of my enjoyment!

Just a quick note between breakfast and getting outside in the sunshine. Although now that everyone else has headed out I am kinda enjoying the quiet... Just one more half a cup of coffee... cycworker, I totally agree with kitbop: you have done what you can. That person is going to do and feel what she is going to do and feel. (((((Hugs)))). Sadly, even if she does come back to the group, your relationship may never be the same as it was. But again, the fault does not lie with you. BTW Crafty Capers was the store you told me about in Nanaimo and I dropped in a dropped a few dollars that day we had lunch. They have a really great variety of products for such a small place. It was fun looking around and I had to force my hands not to reach out and put a few more items by the till LOL. Hope you have a wonderful week at home alone, Linda. I see you have already been hitting the scrapbooking HARD!

Happy 4th of July to the US Pokeys!
No plans beyond scrapbooking and maybe gardening if the weather cooperates or possibly organising/tidying in the garage if it doesn't.
Cleaned up my desk tonight after finishing my Legoland album and found one more layout's worth of photos - so I'll tackle them first thing tomorrow and then get the layouts into their album and onto my shelf - next will be some Christmas layouts I think.

Happy 4th of July to my South-of-the-49th friends! This is the perfect weekend: both our countries celebrating, and a whole summer stretched out in front of us. Had a frustrating day trying to fix the washing machine. We were VERY successful in looking at/cleaning parts (OMG, the drain hoses and drain pump I can attest to them being clean now but Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem. So. Can you give me your opinion? 1. We shell out $450 for a new control panel - wait 2 weeks for it to be delivered - install ourselves - and HOPE that's the problem (it's the only remaining option but of course no guarantee) OR 2. call a repairman, shell out $150 for him to look at the machine, and likely tell us we need a new control panel and start from there? OR 3. buy a new machine. We really cannot survive 2 weeks without laundry... I'll be hauling stuff to a laundromat this week if we don't go shopping tomorrow. This machine is about 7 years old. What do the pokeys think?

kitbop - having shelled out money and time (ok, dh's time) and being without a dryer for a month-ish and THEN buying a new dryer...I'm voting for option 3.

What brand is it kitbop ? Call them. If you can't get through by Googling the company, call the dealer where you bought it and they will have a "special" number to call. If you pay that much for an appliance, you would hope it would work longer than 7 years. LG has a ten year waranty on some of the parts. We had to pay the repairman his time and mileage, but he was able to diagnose over the phone, and brought the right part when he came, so only one visit. LG paid for the motor. If you can't get anything out of them--and don't take no from the first person you speak to--then I would suggest purchasing the new machine. Sounds like your costs will add up to over half the cost of a new model, and if you don't know what the issue actually is, you could spend that money and still need to buy.
The bad thing is that there may be a wait even for a new appliance. Outlets like Home Depot are only stocking store models on site and place your order when you purchase. Then there can be delays at many different steps along the way--manufacturing, transportation, customs...
Good luck!

It was a Whirlpool Duet...good machine...but way out of warranty We opted to purchase a new one today. That's one good thing about living in a heavily populated province - we have more choices and more stock. After going through reviews, I was not only able to find a good machine, I was able to find a floor model version and save $200, and have my DS/DH pick it up today. We've gone LG this time. I have a few loads to do this evening

This took forever because I haven't done an actual page in a long time! I thought it would be fun to do a Halloween page about the costume I bought for my son because I was so excited last year! Is there a thread where everyone shares their stuff? Sorry for the dumb question, I'm on my phone, kept scrolling and couldn't find anything. First is my page, second is the scraplifted page. I'm adding the journaling after posting. Here's a link to the scraplift. http://instagram.com/p/CIIkd1RglkC I'll try to figure out the Flikr gallery later.
