Well we are almost at the end of the weekend . . . I have been working on page kits that are from the Quick Quotes retreat I went on back in 2019. The photos are odd sizes, but I had the actual date on the reverse side from when I had them printed at Costco. So glad I did that! Sure made it easy to find and resize in PSE. I have 3 double page layouts done, and need to post them. Did the journaling in PSE, so I could print it on white cardstock and ink edge the strips for all 14 photos (reversible tages) Working on the fourth layout set.
DH and I went on walks Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening. My knee is slowly healing, it feels better when I keep it moving. We also did nice boat rides both Friday and Saturday night. DS worked 5 days this week, yeah DS! He is thriving says his supervisor. Unfortunately, he found contraband and hide it under that cabin . . . that made last night a bit of a challenge. Prayers please.

angel97701 - glad the knee is healing, you've had scrappy time, and your DS is working. Sorry about the contraband - prayers no scrappy time here this weekend but hopefully this week QOTD - do you have a favourite colour? and if so, is it a favourite for scrapping/cardmaking also or do you have a different favourite for that? I don't really have a favourite...probably blues and greens if I had to pick. For scrapping I like nature colours - blues, browns, greens - and red/white/blue

QOTD: My favorite personal color is teal. I don't find that I use it as much in cardmaking or scrapbooking, probably red moreso (which is my 2nd favorite, hmmm).

I love a nice lighter aqua color - like a Caribbean sea or something. I swapped my daughter's 10 gallon fish tank for a 20, so now I'm stressed all over how the tank is adjusting. I've been reading fish hobby boards and it is soooo funny how the parallels are. LFS is your local fish store instead of LSS for local scrapbook store. They discuss the relative merits of different filters instead of different manual die cutters. Instead of the latest line, there is the latest trendy fish, I guess. But some of the participants are quite vehement, perhaps because fishy lives are at stake or perhaps because the gender mix is different. It's like: you idiot (sometimes with curse words...) how could you even THINK of having your fish in a 10 gallon tank? You don't deserve fish.... Our baseball tournament was cancelled due to heat, so hopefully that will get rescheduled. Glad you are on the other side of your unwellness, Linda.

I feel like I've been totally MIA and yet we are in the first month of the quarter, Whew! Not a lot of scrapping happening here. I've been plodding along slowly trying to finish up my DD. This is my first 6x8 album and I'm definitely struggling with the pockets and smaller size. I really thought this size would be quick and easy. But I'm making a LOT harder trying to make every pocket card a masterpiece I think lol.
I hope everyone is having a great quarter so far!

Drove another 800 miles to EAA AirVenture this week in Oshkosh, WI. The attendance was up, but fewer vendors. Airshow was about the same, but the military demonstrations are usually the most interesting. It's more about seeing friends now. DH did end up having a work meeting. DS flew every simulator he could find. We walked 8 miles Tuesday, and 10 on Wednesday! Dogs did Ok, it was cool enough in the RV while we were gone to the show. The night show is usually fun, with the fireworks spoiling us for any other fireworks display.
Knee is improving, thankfully! Did a little crafting yesterday, getting a kit ready to be put together. Need to size the photos. That is one thing I don't necessarily like about kits that use non-standard size photos. Will work on that tomorrow. DS worked Thursday, Friday and tonight. One of the reasons we only stayed 2 days in OSH.

July is over in a matter of minutes and we'll be moving onto August and the 2nd month of 3rd quarter. I'm hoping to be a little more active both on this thread and in my scraproom in August - I've been sick for the past 2+ weeks and still not 100% recovered. joyfulnana - sorry that the DD is going slowly - I bet it's beautiful though. angel97701 - glad your knee is improving and the Airshow was fun. QOTD? what was the best part of July and what are you looking forward to in August - both scrappy and life-wise? For me? the best scrappy part of July was finishing my 2017 Legoland album and the best part of the month was a short visit with my sister and BIL. I'm looking forward to getting my mojo back in August and getting creative and crafty again. And hopefully replacing the washer that died tonight

How is everyone doing? Any scrappy plans for the weekend? I'm hoping to fit some scrapping in between a laundramat visit on Saturday and taking DD to the city for Girl Scouts on Sunday.

Linda - I just had to replace my washer! We went 4 days without, with DH and me trying to fix it and realizing that the cost of fixing it would not be worth it... There was a mountain of laundry to do when we got the new one. But I was grateful that DH and DS were able to go and pick up a floor-model thus saving us some money! QOTD: July flew by way way too quickly overall. We had a lovely few days on a road trip with some hiking, kayaking and caving. And we got the kitchen painted, and went to the beach. But it feels like July was only 1 week long! We're camping next week with family, and are crossing our fingers for good weather and not too many thunderstorms! I'm alarmed at how fast the days are going already. I haven't done any scrapping - I have a 1/2 finished 2 page layout on my desk that has been there 2 weeks. Mostly, I've been limited by a flare up of my neck problem which makes sitting and crafting really uncomfortable. Getting old sucks, right? I just get my knee settled down (3 "monovisc" injections and it feels much younger!) and my neck sticks it's nose into my business!

kitbop - I'm sorry you had to get a new washer also. Repairman came today and it was determined that it would cost $500+ to repair and he suggested replacing it instead. DH will (hopefully) be getting us a new one tomorrow so fingers crossed - no laundramat trip. I'm sorry about the neck issues- hopefully you'll be feeling better and back to scrapping soon. Have fun with the camping - camping is NOT a summer activity in my area...too hot and wet. I was scanning my 2020 album today...got part-way through August and found a couple of page protectors of unscrapped photos...scanning is on pause while I scrap them.

I hope everyone is doing well.
I think the best part of my July was meeting my parents and going to an Elvis exhibition of some of his costumes and other memorabilia that had been loaned by Graceland. I've visited Graceland previously so I've seen most of the costumes they had on display, but most of them were not in glass cases so I felt like I could really see the detail on them properly. I've printed out a dozen photos to scrap but haven't yet gotten to making the page.
August is my birthday month so that will be an obvious highlight. I also discovered the cherry tree at the end of my street is about to blossom so I know spring is right around the corner.

Chinagirl828 - that sounds like a neat exhibition - looking forward to seeing your page(s). August is my birthday month also but we don't usually do anything special beyond cake. QOTD - what is your favorite type of photos to scrap? Christmas? Birthday? everyday? travel? scenic? pets? kids? something else? I love everyday photos

Well I haven’t been around much. We had covid in the house, then a vacation when all were better followed up with my having mystery medical issues. I’m hoping we’re almost done with all this and can get back to normal. I keep looking at scrap stuff to purchase since actual time to do it isn’t on my side. I’m so trying not to make impulse buys as I’m resting in bed! So far I’m doing good, but I may place an order soon because of FOMO

I love preserving those little moments that would otherwise be forgotten. I still kick myself of not recording some of the things my older ones did when they were younger. At the time my hands were full of toddlers, babies and lots of therapies between them. Now I forgot who would always say certain things or when they did things. So I’m working hard at doing that now even though we’re entering the teen years with the older ones. I really don’t enjoy holiday scrapping. I do it but not my favorite. It’s because I feel like I have to.

Hi peas. I'm back for crafting. I've been busy with work, appts, doing stuff for those appts, another project I am working on, and just regular life. Sometimes I think I am just being lazy, but then I tell myself, I cannot possibly be going all day long just because I am awake. I refuse to be one of those people on a daily basis. Sometimes I just "craft" by pea-ing.
I might start on a new project this evening. And I need to back track and actually start tracking my points!

Belated Happy August everyone! It feels and sounds like late summer here - crickets and katydids at night, sunrise a little later, tomatoes and sweet corn everywhere. I have to remind myself that there are many, many weeks before summer ends and to simultaneously enjoy summer things and look forward to fall things.
A special memory from July is getting invited to view the fireworks from box seats at a small baseball stadium. Excellent view.

Happy August everyone -
I prefer to scrap everyday photos, there are so many small stories that make up a life and I love telling those.
I have been in a mojo desert lately, and I had planned to push myself to try to catch up with the AD class ( I haven't done a single sketch yet, mind you). I only bought that class because I have a ton of older 4x6 photos already printed and I wanted alllll of the bonus sketches lol. But there's a good chance I won't come back to this class for awhile.
I did finish my JYC album the other day, and I'm so glad it's done! My first 6x8 album and likely my last. I love the album and I'm glad I have it and it's finished, but it was so much more work that a 12x12 spread for me. I love seeing other's smaller format spreads, but now I won't have FOMO about creating that size anymore lol.

How is everyone doing? Sorry I've not been on the thread as much as I should. Anyone else scrapping this weekend? I've taken the weekend 'off' from household stuff for the most part (DD is at a friend's) an am scrpping using the SG Squad online crop as a jumping off point. I completed the Friday challenges and then managed to get caught up on my 4x6 sketch class and now I'm working on catching up on Sketchy Saturdays. Yesterday I did 14 pages (10 layouts -some were double pages) and 1 card. Hopefully today will also be a creative one - I've been in a bit of a slump lately. joyfulnana -congratulatons on finishing your JYC album!! jjpeapea - we'll still have summer weather here for a while -probably close to 2 months - but school went back on Wednesday so our summer is effectively over. FurryP - welcome back! I also sometimes scrap by reading here when time or mojo isn't cooperating. I agree on the need for downtime. My sister is one of those who are constantly doing somethign productive and she has covid this week and is frustrated because she hasn't gotten anything done (no energy) - I'm not like that. Everyone else? How are we doing? Check-in and let us know. QOTD - are you a fast, slow, or average scrapper (or cardmaker)? How long does it take on average to make a layout or card? I'm fast - I don't tend to agonise over decisions, I don't do mixed media or anything other time-consuming techniques (the occasional fussy cutting is as far I go there), and my layouts are smaller than many (8.5x11) and simple. 30 minutes to an hour usually - occasionally less, rarely more for a layout. Cards are about the same - the smaller size doesn't seem to equate to less time some-how - possibly because I'm more likely to be die cutting, embossing, stamping and/or colouring on cards.

FurryP I consider "peaing" crafting too. Even if I'm only lurking lol. QOTD - I am an agonizer and a SLOOOWWWWW scrapper. Very timely question Linda , I was saying to myself this morning I need to get faster about making decisions. Cards take me forever and also smaller projects. It's so bad lol. But I don't really get down on myself about it, because the process of choosing, and cutting and deciding what I'm going to do is probably my favorite part of scrapping. Playing with the supplies, even if they don't make it to the layout is fun. I wish I would get to finished with a page before I'm tired of working on it and just want it "done" lol. I have a LO on my table now, in process. I have lots of chores to get to today and then I'm hoping to scrap this evening. It is one that I thought was going to use a sketch from this current AD class, but I ended up going with one of their other 4x6 sketches I had lol. Way to go on 14 LOs Linda ! That's amazing!

joyfulnana - there's no right or wrong way to do this hobby -it's about having fun and being creative. I'm not a very artsy creative person so I use sketches and grids often and my pages are never works of art. I do LOVE seeing the complicated artsy creative pages and cards - I just can't replicate them... Good luck getting to scrap this evening!

So I made two cards this past week. One a little more detailed than the other. Which I think lends itself to the QOTD. I don't consider myself a slow crafter, but some projects do take longer than others. That is why I tend to focus on cards because mostly I can do them faster than a LO. I kind of don't like dealing with the pictures and finding matching/cohesive paper. Kind of like having a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear? Yeah, a room full of paper and nothing is quite right. So anyway, sometimes I am slower than others. But it is not a several hours situation.

FurryP - I agree - some projects are definitely more involved than others. I made a card yesterday that involved fussy cutting a bunch of flowers- took WAY longer than a simple layout does.

It typically takes me a couple of hours to make a layout, but there are definitely exceptions to the rule, both faster and slower. My most recent page has been agonisingly slow, I think it's taken me close to two weeks because while I got the papers and the photos down pretty quickly I just couldn't work out how to embellish it. I finally finished it today and am happy with how it came out, but I'm also very glad to see the end of it.

Well I've made some cards this past week or so but no pages. I kept putting off my pocket page spreads for July, but yesterday and today I am taking it one pocket at a time and enjoying it more and getting it accomplished. The slightly cooler weather we're having makes me feel sooo good but there must be some kind of pollen in the air. It's taken Claritin and sinus rinses to keep the sinus pressure away. I have checked on everyone's work and hope to comment on it later.
