CNN has it on right now.  Honestly, I feel more and more like I just want to stay away from any place where there are a lot of people. You couldn’t pay me any amount of money to go to the fireworks on the Mall. We went to WV and saw them there on Saturday night. People should be aware that Highland Park is a Jewish suburb of Chicago (see the Klezmer Band “float” in the YouTube video someone posted). While the USA news outlets are reporting that it is completely random (how can they know that without the perp in custody is beyond me), I will not be surprised at all if this suburb parade was chosen exactly because many people who live there and were in the parade are Jewish. F%c/m the US media for not reporting this part of the story. Israeli media seems to be able to. |

I'm so glad I no longer have young children so I don't have to explain to them about why we're not going into a crowd to watch fireworks.  My dh and I are staying home and watching on TV, or we might walk down the street to a neighborhood corner that has a view of the Washington Monument. But no crowds. |

I was driving on the beltway and saw that they are reversing HOV express lanes after 7 to help with traffic. We will watch on television. 🥳💥 I have to admit that we are so spoiled from watching in Moorefield WV where we have to literally cock our heads back 90 degrees to watch them overhead. We were a bit worried Saturday night about the chance of being hit by ashes and embers from the fireworks overhead - some of the new ones showered down on the baseball field across which they were launched. |

I took my adult kids, by myself, to see the Minions movie this afternoon and Dh told me about it when I called him as I was driving home from dropping ds#1 off at his home. Dh had been watching CNN and had no idea it was a Jewish community until I told him. He kept saying that CNN had been saying that it was apparently completely random - he had no idea that it was a Jewish community, although I knew immediately when he told me. Why? |

That’s too bad, because it is f&cking disturbing and further evidence as to why we need gun control in this country. Lots of hand drawn pictures of people shot and bleeding, interspersed with his ranting/rapping. There is a logo shown multiple times that I’ll be interested to see if it has ties to hate groups. eta: new copy of video. Don’t watch if you might find it disturbing. |
