Amanda Zampelli just posted the flip-through of her 2021 DD on YouTube in time for the first AE DD sneak (she was on the creative team for last year's DD release): Warning: At around 12:30 minutes in (Day 7), she yells at her cats. Scared the crap out of me because I wasn't expecting it while I'm sitting here sipping coffee. THIS IS WHY I DON'T DO VIDEOS! lol

If you thought last year's thread went up early, you're in for a surprise because we are 2 weeks ahead of the regular schedule. Instead of August 7 like last year, our first official DD sneak has just gone up on July 25th! The start of this year's December Daily season is officially here... Noooooooo! No! No! Nooooooooooooo! *stamps feet* it’s too early for Christmas! If it’s time for Christmas sneaky peeks, then summer is over. And if summer is over, that means it’s back to school season. I am so not ready to go back to school. *crosses arms and pouts* …at least I know how to act like one of my third graders. 😉

Amanda Zampelli just posted the flip-through of her 2021 DD on YouTube in time for the first AE DD sneak She is my favorite of all of the scrapbookers. She is real. She is creative. Here is what I took screenshots of. I might try some of these this year: Wreath vellum page with 4 circles punched. They swivel on brads to reveal journaling underneath. On top she layered a piece of acetate with a circle in the middle with the title and the number for the date. Really simple but very impactful. And something you can prep in advance and have ready for when you want to do a page of your ornaments or whatever. I also liked her spread of two of the 4X6 top and bottom page protectors. Sometimes it's hard to come up with layout ideas and it can't get easier than this. On the left there is a journaling card at the top with a photo on the bottom and on the right it's switched. It makes for a nice graphic design but also really simple to put together. She cut some vellum down to about 2" wide and stitched it to a list. What I liked is the transparent element of the vellum. I've stitched stuff together but never anything you can see through. I have some 3X8 dividers that are plastic that might work well for this if I cut them down. And last she did a recap of the year with the 2X2 grid pages. Top row - Jan, Feb, Mar. Second row three photos, etc. In between the two pages of the months she had journaling in a 3X8 pocket. I don't do regular project life or daily scrapbooking so I might do this. Just highlights. And pretty easy. At around 12:30 minutes in (Day 7), she yells at her cats. This made me laugh. The cat makes an appearance at the end too. Now that I'm thinking of 2X2 ... Does anyone have a true 2X2 punch? I think this will save a lot of time. I'm wondering if it's worth it as punches tend to dull after a while. Any to recommend?

For those who don't wish to commit to a December Daily album while still doing a daily project, there is a simple solution (using your regular yearly album or a Christmas volume album to which you add some pages every December): make 1 December recap page with 1 thing for each day written down (using a calendar design or a simple numbered days list) + add the big stories you do wish to preserve more in depth behind this recap page. Some years, you'll be busy with regular life and only have a couple stories like Christmas Day and a special night out. Others, you will be able to relax and document all the gifts you purchased, your Starbucks holiday drink reviews and the neighbourhood decorations as well. You still get to play along without burdening yourself.
I really think the actual daily part of the project is sustainable and accessible within a simple Project Life album or using way less physical (and mental) space for anyone who wants to. Don't be afraid of adapting, downsizing or trying out something you haven't seen anyone else do on social media (or elsewhere)! ❤️🎄❤️

It was called a passport punch, they are a tad pricey but worth the money. It was black and red.

AE is doing the Christmas in July sale.
I finally got those red stars from last years kit that I wanted.
The prices aren't great but there are a few embellishments that were only available in kits listed separately. The star kit is $20 and the advent calendar is $30.
I had a few things in my cart from the last sale that I didn't want to pay shipping for. Added a couple of things today and it made it worth it.
I'm a sucker for the mystery stuff.
All DD digitals are 50% off as well. Nothing that I needed.

The sale on digitals is making me want to buy the digital journals from last year and just commit to using a made journal for this years DD. Maybe I will wait to see if they do any sneaks of journals today and then commit later this afternoon. I want to simplify this year and out all my energy towards October daily.

Don't be afraid of adapting, downsizing or trying out something you haven't seen anyone else do on social media (or elsewhere)! ❤️🎄❤️ I love this! Totally agree that this project can be anything you want it to be. The daily calendar page could be a tiny photo (like from that Collect app - remember that?) or sticker or ephemera piece for each day. Or just throw the daily part out the window! It's totally OK to call it DD and not actually do the daily thing. There's no DD police! I have been following along with rukristin's Thursday3 idea for a few years (on Instagram, but it can be done without social media too) and figured out last year that including all of the TH3 posts from the Christmas season helped include some everyday life stuff in my album and gave me something to write under my silly holiday selfies. A selfie and 3 things about you now/lately - it can be anything. I record what I'm reading and/or watching in number 3 every week and that alone makes it fun to look back on. I did a 31 lists project in my JYC/DD album in 2020 which helped pad it out a bit. A photo of something Christmasy from around town/home on one page and a list on the other. I didn't include all of them but it was fun.

Looking at everything from last year in the sale.. jeez they didn't sell out of much huh edit, damn the 2020 felt folio is $2.99! that's the folio + blank notebook, not too shabby. and the price of that my story 3x8 album keeps decreasing lol. Last time I saw it I feel like it was at $10? $7.50 for the album +15 page protectors is calling my name but that extra $6 in shipping isn't. I don't know why it bothers me so much! If it was $12.50 total for the album I'd be like "oh man throw that bad boy in my cart" and go on with my life

Marking my spot for when the temps drop below 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and I can imagine a time when snowflakes might exist here again.

I love this thread. Marking my spot for when the temps drop below 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and I can imagine a time when snowflakes might exist here again. Haha, I know what you mean! Hard to wrap my head around the idea of Christmas in this heat! I also love this thread and will be here for the ride till December. Love all the ideas that are shared here and the info about Christmas kits and products. I stopped making December Daily albums last year (2020 was my last one), as my kids are older now and so Christmas has been reduced to just a couple of activities and traditions. Last year I included an extra spread or two in my regular PL-style album and that really worked for me and it's what I'm planning on doing from now on. Just checked out the sale over at Ali Edwards and I ended up buying a few embellishments that I loved from last year, the painted wood veneer houses, the fabric stockings and a few other things. I had to give up all my physical subscriptions because of customs duties (EU country), so it's nice to make a small order now and then even if I do have to pay more when it arrives in my country.

I was out for a date night when Ali + Lisa's live chat took place so I still need to catch up (any reveals re: 2022 products?).
Just checked out the DD sale but no Paislee Press kits pre-2021 (I know they still have some in stock). The international shipping was higher than the one tiny word sticker sheet and the plaid fabric number 25 I was considering so I'm skipping for now. Will keep checking to see if they add any older DD stock over the next few days just in case...

10 x 8 album is Santa faces that Ali is using. All albums are chipboard this year no linen, no pleather and no small size albums. Kits come in slide boxes (Kraft with white printing). Red puffy alphabets.

They also showed some star die cuts. Felt half circles with journaling card tucked in circle 3 in main kit. 3 kits will be offered. Large 10 x8 tag paper was shown with a tag die cut shown too in main kit. 10 x 8 paper in main kit will ship in a file folder looking envelope.

I am dead.
I'm going to need a lot of what they showed today.
So far I really loved these half circle pockets (looked to be made of felt). They are 3.75" wide and have a round tag inside. My brain already has so many ideas. If you zoom in on one of the sneaks (I think the Instagram profile pic) there is what looks to be a set of transparent green letters. Could be words. If it's an alpha, it's in my cart. Also I am loving the plastic stars.
There will be an advent calendar (stickers like last year). I really enjoyed that and will treat myself again. Hope the pockets they come in are different.
There is going to be a kit co-designed by Pam Baldwin to tell stories of past Decembers. The people on the chat were super excited about that.
There is a paper based on Pam's tag page last year. It will come with vellum tags that fit on top of the tags on the paper. Really cool.
New packaging for the kits. They are pull out boxes like what the advent calendar came in last year.
That's all I can remember but they will be sharing sneaks every other day on the December Daily instagram account.
Definitely watch the recordings of the lives because they were really fun. Lisa and Ali were clearly super excited.

Downloaded the video and got some stills. There are 3 kits on offer this year. They all come in slide-open kraft boxes with white lettering that can be reused for storage or as gift boxes (got a feeling shipping + kit pricing are about to go up, eep). The main kit has 10x8 papers again but they don't fit in the kit box so they come in a separate cardstock folder envelope (no, seriously, shipping is going to be a b*tch). Ali shared one of the three circle pockets made out of felt with a felt insert (the poké ball vibes are real) included in this kit. Two rolls of washi tape are also included, Ali shared the look of the black roll with white phrases (like "Where the tree tops glisten"). Lisa showed one of the kit papers with the pack of vellum tags that fit the tags on that paper perfectly.

The surprise designer for 2022 is Pam Baldwin who helped come up with the Stories of Christmas Past kit (more JYC than DD). Ali mentioned the products could also work to document Christmas present. The kit comes with 6x8 papers, a set of wood stamps and more.

Finally, Liz Tamanaha is back for a Paislee Press x December Daily kit. Colours look muted and include from what I can tell camel, blue (or mint?), classic red, black and several green shades, quite the departure from last year's Christmas Barbie colour scheme. 6x8 papers are included again. Gold foil. I spy some puffy stickers and possibly pleather embellies?

The album selection will consist of 4 albums: one 10x8 album which Ali will be using, two 6x8 albums and 1 buildable album (AKA covers + loose rings). There will be no albums smaller than 6x8 this year. No special finishes, just chipboard. Here is the fun/playful one (10x8) (the others will include a very graphic design, a red one and a surprise album): The Santa designs are by Matthew Wilson who returned to Inked a while ago.

Other products shown are... Red puffy alpha: A small-sized sentiment stamp with funny phrases like "cotton-headed ninny muggins", "elves with attitude", "Santa, I know him!" (a lot of Elf), "bless this microwavable dinner", etc. Die-cut full-page inserts (multiple sizes in one set, up to 10x8):

Nice work, Booty! 🤗 I only had a chance to pop in here and there during the live. What was said about album options? What does “no smaller sizes” mean? Hopefully 6x8 isn’t considered a small size! I hate hate that 10x8 format. 😑 I feel like it’s being thrust on us the same way Instagram has forced reels on everyone. 😖 blemon I think the transparent green letters are plastic/acetate (what’s the difference?) title words, like the ones in the January “begin” SK and the travel collection. ETA: I was typing while you were posting. album question answered! 👍🏻

I don't like the 10x8 papers being in the main kit. I was told just cut them to 6x8 but that doesn't work on some of the specific paper designs. It cuts them off. For example the tag paper shown for this year's main kit won't look right cut to 6x8.

First of all, thanks Booty for your sleuthing! You rock. I am dying to know what Lisa is holding up that has those colorful stars on it. They said the reason they aren't doing 4X6 or 3X8 albums this year is because they just don't sell as well. Lisa said there is a 3X8 album in the shop that has stars inside and it will be good for DD if you want that route. Also Citrus Twist is the master of the 4X8 albums and now with their 6X8s, they've got it covered. I personally do not like a buildable album. I have gone that route in the past for travel albums and they are not sitting well on my shelf. Now, they do not have the rings that AE sells so a thicker cover and sturdier rings may make it work. But that 4X4 with the travel collection was cute. Love what people did with it.
