My only must haves so far are one of the scrapbook.com velvet albums, not sure of the color yet. I also pre-ordered a few items from both the VB Evergreen and Holly and Crate Paper Mittens & Mistletoe (to go with the remains of last year’s collections), and some of the SS Mix and A-Mingle. I will wait to see what the full AE DD offering looks like, and also to see what Paper Person releases. I am especially intrigued to see the Pam Baldwin Christmas Past kit  I have a robust Christmas stash, so don’t really “need” anything, but I am sure at least some AE DD and PP items will make it into my cart  |

I really like that 10x8 Santa album. Has anyone tried to cut a album down to 6x8? I wonder if that is even possible without destroying the whole album?

Paislee Press has released a new set of December days tags + stamps. You can make these yourself using Canva. Heck, the font for the numbers is Abril Fatface and "December" seems to be in Arialle, both available in the free Canva version (it's the exact font combo I've been using to make my own DD cards this year). Otherwise, you can get a set for 35% off right now. All things Christmas-themed are currently 35% off on The Lilypad, by the way.  |

I really like that 10x8 Santa album. Has anyone tried to cut a album down to 6x8? I wonder if that is even possible without destroying the whole album? It would be nearly impossible if you wanted to keep the wrapped paper effect, I believe. Maybe someone has managed to do it? Not sure how strong the adhesive is between the Santa head paper and the chipboard structure but I wouldn't count on being to undo it properly to finish off the freshly cut side of the album. If you're willing to cut and then paint/stain the chipboard (and possible add a little glue to protect the cut cover paper), this should be totally fine. Geralyn Sy cut a 12x12 AC chipboard album to make her own 9x12 album back in 2014 (but it was plain chipboard) and the 9x12 craze began (the Seven Paper Studio Calico x American Crafts collab with the 9x12 handbooks). |

I have never done it, but I think you could do it as long as you finished the edges with something else. Maybe fabric tape in a coordinating color? You'd have the santas for most of the album and just a fabric stripe along the edge that you cut. |

There is a sneak peak of the papers on the december daily IG account. The first paper is stars in probably all the colors in the kit this year. Three shades of green, pink, red, burgundy...Looks like some nice ones, just wish they weren't 10x8.

Was just coming to post this, blemon ! The star pattern is a main kit paper, confirmed. ETA: I'm glad to see the Santa head design as a paper as well so people don't feel they have to buy the album to get it. I fear that "ho ho ho" paper is the dreaded orange red, however. There is a lot of black, more than I expected. Definitely going to be a moodier kit to work with. |

I like this sneak better because the reds look like true reds. The color palette seems to go well with previous years' kits, too. I still have some black embellishments from a few years ago.

Seeing the different shades of greens and reds definitely looks better than the sneak with the tomato soup red. And those 3d santas are adorable!
..also I think I want to do 4x4??! 🙈 I've been watching too many Paige Evans videos lately.

Someone did a 4X4 (I think) with things that were awesome. It was all totally random and amazing. I think that would be a fun way to approach DD, for sure. I have searched and searched and I can't find it. |

I'm currently finishing my 2021 4x4 DD and it's such a fun format. I keep going back to it every time I stray and try something else... THIS IS SO GOOD!!!!! Seriously. Amazing. |

sleepingbooty IT'S SO LOVELY! do you use page protectors and place it in an album? or rings? my only real hesitation is I like puffy stickers and chipboard.. so I was leaning towards getting some big ass rings and hope for the best. blemonty for finding this!! I seem to be the only person that likes the tomato red in the sneaks. It looks like the red Crate Paper uses in their lines, which works well for a summer Christmas. I'll be able to mix and match 😃

sleepingbooty your album is lovely. I really love how you did your numbers and the full page photos. What a fun size. I think I'm going to have to scoop up one of the lovely velvet albums from scrapbook.com on my next order. I do wish now they had 4x4 though!

Aww, so happy to see that the 4x4 DD format is getting some love in here!  I'll share more of my 2021 DD next week. What's super neat about 4x4 is that you naturally focus on one story, one photo per day. It's a great way to use up your stash and have fun with it (you're not restricted to papers: you can go dig for 4x6 cards as well). Covers? Pfff, cut whatever chipboard you have at home, go dig for wood veneer shapes (we all have loads of stars from old kits somewhere), adhere them, get a can of spray paint out, spray it all and you have a very cool front cover with custom texture! I cannot stress enough how much fun there is to be had with these small formats. I call mine cobblestone albums because they feel like one when you hold them to flip through. jenna No page protectors. When all my pages + custom covers are done, I punch them and simply add rings. I will say from personal experience that I loathe using the XL rings (3 inches). It's very uncomfortable to turn pages (you have to go all the way around the ring which is both a slow and not very kind process on the punched pages) and the album is never completely flat on the table once you open it. I recommend making "floppy rings" with string for thick minis instead which is a trick I picked up from Vanessa Documented (she no longer scrapbooks, alas). I've reused those XL rings to store cookie cutters instead... For anyone who wants some luxury 4x4 covers for DD this year, Jamaica still has some sets of her gorgeous etched snowflake covers (only the front cover is etched). Not cheap (albeit on sale) but a very nice treat if you want some clear plastic gorgeousness. Jamaica is also behind the 4x5 gold covers shown in that Awesome mini album project, by the way!   |

And we also have our first bits of pop culture news... Children and teens of the 1990s, rejoice, The Backstreet Boys are finally putting out a Christmas album! A Backstreet Christmas will be released on October 14. Tracklist includes classics like White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Silent Night, O Holy Night and more. The Hallmark Channel has already revealed their Countdown to Christmas 2022 teaser. Cosy sweater vibes! ETA: And yes, there's a Rockettes Christmas movie this year... On the Netflix front, we're going to get some good stuff and more 1990s/early 2000s nostalgia: they've hired some big names from that era for their Christmas movies this year including Freddie Prinze Jr, Heather Graham, Jason Biggs and Lindsay Lohan. They are also producing another Christmas-themed Norwegian mini series, Christmas Tomorrow which was filmed in Oslo (strangers are stranded at the airport the day before Christmas) and an Italian mini series called I Hate Christmas which is an adaptation of the 2PR fave, Norwegian Home For Christmas (woman lies to family about having a boyfriend and must find one in time for Christmas with the fam'). FPJ?!? Say less. That man was so fine then... and the silver hair NOW + being with SMG for the last umpteen years?! GOOD LORD HOLD ME BACK. |

That would be a really fun way to do a DD highlights project, especially if one can let go of a need to include everything/ stick to a strict chronology. 25 good things about Christmas, or a daily highlight, or something inspired by a prompt list. I like that it could be minimalist like Booty's or a maximalist gathering of bits and bobs and pockets and things. |
