In terms of design I am really starting to dislike/seeing albums where every page is some how interactive (flips, fold outs, pockets etc)... does anyone else feel like this? Sorta feeling the same. I like interactive elements to a point, but when every single page is a whole big orchestra it starts feeling really tedious to me.

Its all a competition & one that I don't care to be a part of. For awhile I felt like the products were taking over the focus of DD, now I feel like its less that and more 'who can be over the top' with the interactive elements. A little bit of creativity like that is fine but not every day. Absolutely all of this! All that interaction does not make it fun to me. Plus I refuse to go into 2 albums and all that stuff takes up so much space.

A little bit of creativity like that is fine but not every day. Bwahaha, so true though. Disclaimer: we had drinks and watched a bunch of old Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes tonight so consider my level of combined tipsiness and high-on-cheesy-1990s-TV for what I'm about to say but as we were cleaning up the kitchen, I was half-watching a sped-up December Daily video on mute on my tablet. Autoplay was on and at some point I realised videos were still playing and this random DD flip-through with loads (I mean, LOADS) of interactive elements was playing at 1.75 or maybe even 2x speed and I just started giggling because it looked like a freakin' dog snuffle mat to me from where I was standing. This lady was flipping things up and out left and right like she was hiding treats under those little fabric flaps and corners for her dog to find or something... Oh, the things good wine on a Friday night does to my brain! Aaaaanyway. Yes, way too many fold-outs and flip-ups and have-you-seen-these-little-bits since 2020. I'm over it. Just punch a 5x7 photo in as an insert and sit with it. Why all the non-stop fuss? Those DD-ers need to chill. And they've taken over October Daily in the past couple of years, too, ugh. Let me sit on the stoop with you, grumpy cool gals. Less is more, por favor. *pours wine for everyone* People are flipping through DD albums like...

I don't mind them, but when there is a lot, its sensory overload for me. Probably why I'm a very basic scrapper. I'm sure my stuff looks boring. I like simple!

Cute but as you say a bit too late. And it's not like I haven't got enough DD supples for about 10 Christmases!

I can't believe people are so opposed to albums you need special instructions to open.. The idea behind some of them is nice, but we all know when we start doing DD it goes something like: Day 1 - I'm totally going to do that super detailed page I saw 3 months ago and saved to my Pinterest/IG Day 5 - Well, that took longer than expected, so I'll just make some simple pages to "catch up' Day 6 - All "caught up", let's try something new! I'm going to use my entire sheet of chipboard on this page just like I saw XYZ do! Day 8 - Where's all my chipboard? Balls. Day 13 - I'm just going to take a break... to catch my breath. Day 15 - AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I'm so behind and I hate this project! Day 17 - Screw it. I'll finish in July.

I think the layouts are cute, and if I still had little kids at home, it might be fun for them. As for me, I basically want photos, some journaling, pretty paper and embellishments that support the story. I have used hidden journaling which meets a genuine purpose, but that's about it. I may be tempted to make a shaker pocket sometime, but it hasn't happened yet. I admire those intricate scrapbooking inventions, but they don't evoke any real emotions in me. They seem to be targeted towards getting likes on social media. I could be wrong, but they seem performative rather than authentic.

I love an interactive page but not for every day. I think dawnnikol has it right. When you make it too complicated you just can't get it done. If you look at the majority of Ali's pages, it's a full page photo with some journaling and like one embellishment. I don't like my handwriting and I'm not really into journaling on my layouts so if I have something I want to say, that's often when the layout is interactive -- just so I can hide it. And much of the time, it's on a card that you can pull out of a pocket behind a photo. I also like using lots of photos and only just learned how to use layered templates so I will do something interactive because it's the only way to make that work -- photos on tags that go in a pocket. I do not have it in me to create a waterfall or anything like that. I like finished projects cause I lose interest too fast and if I don't finish, I will likely never finish. But in other news, I'm hosting another swap. If you're interested in joining, see the Stamping and Cardmaking page. This one is Christmas themed.

The idea behind some of them is nice, but we all know when we start doing DD it goes something like: Yep, that's me! I finished last year's project earlier this week and you can totally see this in my album. Days 1 to 8 (the days I did during December last year) - a few interactive elememts and well thought out layouts (for me). Days 9 onwards (done suring September) - very large photos in page protectors. Yep, couldn't agree with you more, it really does feel like that. Of course there is joy to be found in getting crafty and making interactive elements, my DD is my craftiest DD project and I love it for that, but if you're having to pay $60 for albums alone to fit everything in, surely that's going a bit too far? Also! If I ever show any of my DD albums to friends or family, no-one ever, ever uses the interactive elements. Maybe its because they're not scrappers, but even with tabs on, flappy bits don't get lifted, things don't get pulled out. Pages get turned and that is it, it's basicially a fancy photo album. I don't know where I'm going with this. Sorry that was proper rambly.

IMO so many of the super duper interactive pages are in part because people like them but also to keep up with the crafty Joneses. Especially when they're posting videos, reels, multiple IG posts, etc. When so much is about ~the algorithm~ you don't want to be lost in the posts, y'know? You have to stand out somehow. I don't want this to sound like a knock because I know there's a couple really great creators on the board and I'm someone who thoroughly enjoys the hour long process videos people make doing all the crazy things lol
But I think all hell broke loose the year Ali wanted to do a bunch of out of the pp stuff for DD and everyone else followed suit more so than the few who were doing it previously. The idea of needing 2-3 albums for one months worth of stuff is insane to me though.

Ok, let me give you my first impressions as I go through my loot. Please, no judging on what I bought. I am a weak person who was dealing with a bunch of personal shit with my kids when the ordering window was open. I mainly focused on paper this year as I was ready for new stuff and had embellishments from years past.
Main kit: I love the main kit more than I originally thought. Glad I got it. Of the whole main kit, my biggest disappointment is with the journal cards. I don't like all the red variations in person. The colors on the foam circles with words are also not as bright (specially the red), as I think it should be. I like the pattern papers more than I thought I would. Also not a fan of the 'December' rubber embellishment in person.
PP Kit: Love, as always. There is a printing issue on the red 'December' card - mine has a white ink smudge from the printer. I am also missing a single blue heart puffy sticker. I also think the brown 'messy messy messy' puffy is really ugly.
Add on paper and add on specialty paper: I like & wish some of the designs were more 6x8 friendly.
Envelope bundle: I love 2/3 of it. The red vellum envelope isn't as nice as the plastic ones.
Paper Die Cut Pack: This is the first time I am getting these, and I love every single one of them. No regrets.
3x8 journal cards + Transparency set: I like them and will use them. I do wish the 3x8 were actually 3x8 and not larger in size. Some of them you will be forced to use out of a pocket as I dont think you can trim them to actually be 3x8 and get all of the design on them.
Felt presents: love them all. Glad I got them.
Stitched pockets: always love these. Could have made my own, but in a sleepless night, I caved and bought these. Will use them. Wish they didn't all have words on them.
2x2 square die-cuts: they are predictable, but good.
Chipboard numbers: I like them. 9/10. Wish the gold color was more gold than Kraft but such is life. They do have a shine to them when in the light.
Floral album: My favorite album so far, hands down.
Overall, I am happy with what I bought. There is some repetion between the kits + add ons (how many 'merry and bright' and 'Around the tree' stuff does one need?). But I can sell the repeats or save them for another year. My biggest disappointment is actually with the boxes. The PP kit did not need a heavy, bulky box. It seems like a waste. Yes, I will use the box again, nbut the box is so oversized compared to what is actually in the box.

It made me even more excited to get my order. Mine still hasn’t even shipped. I have a tiny tinge of regret over not buying the felt presents. I looked at them so many times, and just never put them in my box, but they were so very cute. I’m glad you are happy with your goodies overall!

Aww your mention made my day! I do an occasional interactive page, but I don't have time for that (or see the need!) for most days. I will never let my DD go into two albums, but that's just a personal preference. Honestly, I usually don't have an issue with overly bulky DD albums... where I run into trouble is WITL, ha. This year my guess is I will have little to no interactive pages because I'm going super mini... 4 x 5.5 inches (a Jamaica Makes album). I'm a little scared, but super excited... wish me luck!

My Ali order arrived in Florida today. I got the floral album and envelope bundle. mom review of them is spot on! Someone here, several pages back, mentioned wanting just the JOY envelope. Let me know if it was you. I would be happy to send it to you. The envelope is too big for a 6X8 album and I don’t ever see myself doing DD in a 10X8.

Here is my reviews of what I bought:
I got the floral pattern album, it is stunning. I didn't get the PP mini kit because I didn't think it was big enough. I got the Christmas past and the Main kit. They are both awesome, work well together, and include some really fun elements. I love the main kit, my favorite embellishment is the felt circles with the journal card, it is so cute.
I also got a mystery kit, it was kind of meh. It was the 10-dollar mystery journal card set. I got a star envelope with 3 sets of journal cards. The sets were the rad and happy kids cards, In a Creative Bubble journal cards, and some transparent tags, not sure where they are from.

I'm trying to figure out how to use them, I think I can use the middle circle but the others are going to be stash items for sure.

I think you could use the circles the same way the photo frames are used in the Christmas Past kit samples. See the 2nd photo here: Christmas Past KitI like to use circles to highlight something that might get lost in a larger photos, that is probably how I will use the gold ones.
