I’ve already drafted the plot:
It’s a teen holiday movie. (We need to get younger people onboard with our obsession). The girl who lives there has to work long hours cause her dad just died. She is struggling in school so the handsome young lead actor starts tutoring her. He is from a wealthier class but despite the protests of his snooty parents, they fall in love just as the snow starts to fall.
Take it from here.
What is the conflict?
How does it get resolved?

It is after 1 am and I can't sleep. I keep thinking about how to do a hybrid December daily. I have a Citrus Twist (CT) 4x8 album in fir that I bought 2 years ago. I don't remember what my plan was for it. Maybe there was no plan and I wanted something cute.
I got this pull out file from paislee press. Both my sister and I have birthdays in December. The folded width is 4.5 so it will fit in the CT album.
But I could buy a 6x8 album and protectors from scrapbook.com. Then I don't know what configuration of pockets is best. And how much will it cost to buy and fill it.
For the CT album, I only have 2 of the stacked 3x4 page protectors. I have lots of the full page ones. I worry that I will just make a 4x8 page in Photoshop, print and put in a protector. Then I will wish it was a photobook.
Or I could make a positivity passport. Fill it in each day maybe add word strip stickers or a small photo. I could make an album or photobook later if I change my mind.
On and on my head spins. I don't know where to start with hybrid. How do I make hybrid more fun/better than a photobook. Thank you for letting me ramble.

I struggle with this, too, as I make digital pages I'm always thinking, "why don't I just make a photobook?!?" Ultimately, I would miss the interactive/more crafty possibilities, pockets for "extras" like ephemera and extra photos, and the textured products that come with a traditional DD. My family loves pulling out the extra photos in particular. I like real tickets, receipts, wrapping paper bits, etc. included in my books as well (versus photos of those things). I love that one of my DDs has the last scrap of "Santa's wrapping paper," and packaging from DS's special nutcracker ornament, bits of advent calendar contents, holidays cards we received with Grammy's handwriting, etc. I would miss these things.

Got my DD box from Ali this week and finally had some time to go through the products. I joyously opened all my advent calendar already! LOL Couldn't wait!
My favorite product is an item from the advent calendar (no spoilers), but I also really love the wood in the main kit and the specialty paper.
Did anyone order the JOY album? I've been considering getting it, but I'm worried that the red is too orange. If you got it, do you love it?

On and on my head spins. I don't know where to start with hybrid. How do I make hybrid more fun/better than a photobook. I do both hybrid and photobooks. They're just different projects for me and I almost exclusively use photobooks for vacations. I'm bad at keeping memorabilia when away on holiday, I don't like fussing about with maps and tickets so I'm happy to let that stress go and just focus on the pictures. When I do save some memorabilia, I end up photographing them flatlay-style or scanning the map. Some scrapbookers are exactly the opposite and love all the interactive bits and bobs for their vacay albums. It's all about personal preference. For December documenting, I do like to include some extra bits. I love adding an extra clear pocket on top of a larger page protector for a pull-out photo or pull-out journaling that will reveal the final bit of the large photo underneath. I love stitching some gift wrap bits together or saving the bow from a present. I love including a piece of my Advent calendar. And so on. Hybrid works best here for me. I can do all my typing and typographic elements digitally, add small physical embellishments for some textured fun, have fun playing with page protectors and outside-of-PP pages, etc. I like the occasional flap to open or hidden journaling element as well. You need to just figure out if the more playful, textured approach of hybrid is important to you or not for December memories. That's all that matters. If you're fine having it all photographed and laid out "flat" in a picture (sounds negative but I promise I don't mean it this way) for this theme/time of the year, you should probably try out the photobook format. Simple as. I know my heart goes one way for vacations and a different one for October + December memories. PS: Hybrid can mean anything you want it to be. You figure out your own balance of digital vs traditional scrapbooking. Don't limit yourself to what you see online. Mix up spreads with one page protector, one page outside PP. Recreate the page protector layout without using one by placing photos in a similar size on top of a piece of pattern paper you've been hoarding. Add in vellum pages with typed-out journaling as 6x8 photo overlays.

Is there a Heidi Swapp thread? I couldn’t find one. She’s really making me eat my words about not buying any holiday stuff. Bought all the Halloween stuff and now I thinking of getting her Hometown Holiday line. It’s a lot of pink but the paper are great and I love the buildable stamps.

I subscribe to Stamp Society, but I skipped the number set because I have so many other stamps with numbers. I think I will still pick up a couple of her 19.99 Christmas stamp sets. Shipping for two sets is only $6.00. I can't justify getting more holiday stuff. I bought several of the Ali Edwards digitals, along with the Paislee Press kit, so I want to make sure I use it all up.

Just a heads up for those ordering DD digitals - the SHOP10 code works for 10% off. Maybe everyone else knew this, but it was a surprise to me!

The ephemera is what I miss most about making photobooks rather than paper projects. I can and do take photos of it but I tend to want to keep the actual thing as well instead of trashing it. I keep an ephemera notebook to satisfy that need now. I do also enjoy a few bits of twine and die cuts and things if I have them, and I sometimes enjoyed using stickers (letter or otherwise). Hybrid can be more fun than photobooks because you can change the size/shape of the pages or include cool flip outs or flip ups. But there's also being able to print and make the pages as you go along and see it coming together, rather than having it all living on your computer until its done and ordered. I'm an out-of-sight-out-of-mind person so I struggle a bit with having my book being a bunch of files in progress. But do what suits your life and brain I couldn't handle having all the paper stuff around me in December and couldn't put it away until it was done. Admittedly I would get it done faster... I'm still working on my 2021 Xmas photobook because it's not in my face yelling at me to finish it!

I placed an order for digitals yesterday because I wanted to start playing with them. I probably should have waited. I just added a stamp in my cart, and the code works for me. 10% off plus free shipping is a great deal if there is a stamp you would really like. Thanks for sharing, carolynhasacat!

I’m really annoyed that the transparencies don’t have a film on them this year — I bought the 3x8 set and some of them have tons of scratches and two of them have major dents.

So, I just got a notification from Ali E that my order of large plastic trees is not getting filled because of inventory issues. Y'all, I put in my only 2 orders day one within minutes and I have been patiently waiting for my order to ship and very very not pleased with this notification . I mean, I get inventory issues, but also, I dropped over $200 and have been waiting almost 3 weeks for my order to ship. Been an Ali customer since early days - 10 years - including subscriber. I know one order of plastic trees is not a deal breaker, but this was one of the things I was very intentional about ordering - top 3-4 item I wanted. The digital file they gave me, while well intended, is not an easily recreated thing. I sent a conversation message back expressing my disappointment. I hate being the negative person, but there are plenty of other things I ordered I would be sad, but OK with not getting. This just happened to be one of the things I wanted the most . Thanks for letting me vent. Kind of puts a damper on the fun.

Texas Scrap that really stinks!! I’m sorry. . I have yet to get my box (and I also spent a crap ton #regrets). I got the stencils- basically the same thing with selling out immediately and I BETTER get them! They need to process orders when they were received (after doing the international peeps which I totally get) to make it at least more fair if they can’t have the correct amount of product! And how did that even happen?? Don’t they hold some back to make SURE orders get fulfilled. I didn’t get the trees either or I’d share, too.

And how did that even happen?? Don’t they hold some back to make SURE orders get fulfilled. I get get the trees either or I’d share, too. So I replied in the customer service conversation twice - first was more of a frustration vent and in the second one I was nicer and I suggested that when an item sells out, they do an immediate inventory so that they can confirm fulfillment. My point being, I ordered day 1 of boxing and it is now 6-7 weeks later. It would be better to have known week one or even end of boxing period than to have patiently been waiting for weeks to just now get the notification. I understand things happen, but this is not the optimal way to get notified. And I do realize I will get over this very first world issue, just disappointed. For those offering to share, so kind. I am going to attempt printing the digitals out and cutting on my silhouette later this week and see if that is even doable. It won't be the same material or quality, but maybe it will be good enough. I had bought the chipboard little trees to go with the plastic ones for a "forest" layout idea I had so I am going to see if I can make it work. If its crap, then I may try to take someone offering to share who did get them up on the offer!

I just saw someone- I think on the AE Facebook? Maybe it was the AE DD Facebook- that printed the trees on transparencies and painted the back white - they look good!
I like the feedback you gave them and hope they listen.

I saw the FB post - feels like maybe more work that I want to put in OK peas - how would you try to replicate the gold foiling on the trees? I have a Minc, but obvs it will minc everything that is uncovered, so that won't work for the gold decorated trees. Any tips?

I'm right there with you so don't have any advice. I'm thinking about doing detailed sketches of how I'd like each particular day to look and then do a batch printing at the end. I keep looking at everyone's beautiful pages and get further stuck in my head. Good luck to us both!

I have a Minc, but obvs it will minc everything that is uncovered, so that won't work for the gold decorated trees. Any tips? I would print them on sturdy vellum so they have a more opaque quality like the manufactured trees, and for the gold accents I would either heat emboss with gold embossing powder, or use Deco Foil with Transfer Gel Duo (or a sticky adhesive pen). I think the trees would look great on vellum

Texas Scrap, totally validating your feelings. This is why I don't order from SC anymore. Too many "bait and switch" sales - the item I REALLY wanted, despite being in my cart at checkout, never showed up in my package. Done! I've never had that with Ali, though, I fully blame Inked and think Ali would be peeved if she knew.
