Yes. We were without water and power (we were more lucky than most as we had either one for most of the time,( but others had no water and no power for days on end (5-6 for many).
Sadly, when the street pipes burst, they did not bother to winterize them when they had the roads all dug up to fix the pipes soooooooo they are risk for breaking again. They didn't learn from the previous freeze So far so good. Everything is made, laundry done, all I have left to do is making icing for things tomorrow. Still waiting on last gift that is to arrive tomorrow (we shall see).
This is terrible. I'm so sorry. It didn't even cross my mind. We had our sewer line redone last fall and it is amazing just how far down all our pipes are just so that this doesn't happen. It was easily 15 ft down my sewer line is. It was just something I didn't think about until they dug it up.

Merry Christmas peas! From your southern hemisphere friends who have small children who wake them up way too soon! May your morning be full of fun, family and laughter… and if that cannot happen I hope you have a nice coffee and quiet time to reflect on the blessings of 2022 🥰

Just an aside, but I buy a new Christmas album every year. (Yes I'm a dinosaur who still buys CDs.) And this album was the one I bought this year. I love it! It's such a fun album, isn't it? And quite unique, too. You have great taste, jeremysgirl. Some fun pages I made this week Love that you included an ode to your beloved Sir Mix-a-Lot! And that cobalt blue is gorgeous. May "he" have quite a few more years left in him to keep making your December sweet. Yes booty finds the best songs! I have discovered so many favorites from her each year.
And booty your Ho Ho Ho NO is perfect for so many layouts these past few years! Aww, didn't realise my "songs of the day" were, pardon the bad pun, a bit of a hit. It's all my pleasure! Thank you so much for the kind words. And gosh, yes, this pandemic has been a ride. So many ho ho no moments... Looking forward to more boring, plain, "old normal" Decembers in the not-too-distant future. Gimme cookie cutter, sniffles-are-harmless-again life over whatever this has been since March 2020. Same...about booty...last year's Zoey and Ingrid with the felt bunnies is still my favorite!! Staaahp. You're making me blush! But gosh, that video was so adorable (the Sylvanian Families vibes were strong with this one). And the song lovely! And now my other parent has tested positive for Covid. Oh no! Are they ok? Are they recently boosted? Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. Merry Christmas peas! From your southern hemisphere friends who have small children who wake them up way too soon! May your morning be full of fun, family and laughter… and if that cannot happen I hope you have a nice coffee and quiet time to reflect on the blessings of 2022 🥰 And happy Boxing Day to you and our other Southern Hemi DD-ers! May the leftovers taste even better than when they were freshly made and your relaxation mode set to level: maximum.

And a very joyeux Noël to everyone, participants and lurkers! I hope the US and Canadian DD-ers stuck in the terrible weather are all safe and well. I hope you're able to relax and have fun, not just work away at making the day perfect. I hope your dearest Christmas wish comes true. I hope you take the time to soak up the energy and feeling of love that radiate on this special day. December 25th: No need for a prompt. IT'S CHRISTMAS! There's plenty to document on this happy day. Enjoy yourself first and foremost. And then grab some photos, make a mental note here and there and go back to celebrating. Today is all about messy merry-making! Your DD can wait until tomorrow... Song of the day:

Aww, didn't realise my "songs of the day" were, pardon the bad pun, a bit of a hit. Adding another vote for how awesome they are. I bought the Ingrid Michaelson album on vinyl a couple of years ago after I realised her album was a staple in my Christmas rotation. I had never heard of her before you shared one of her songs in the DD thread.

I'm still recovering from all the food and drinks of the past 48h. Two naps in one day? No problem! I hope everyone else is having a pleasant and joyful time even if the holiday stars didn't quite align and everything didn't go according to plan. May you feel loved and cared for during these festive times... ❤️ December 26th: FOOD // No matter which holiday you celebrate at this time of the year, two things unite us all universally: gathering and the expression of love through food. As December starts coming to a close, let's take a moment to tell the tale of community through how we literally nourish each other during this special time. Story prompt: "Merry & bite" Focus on holiday eats in a way that reflects the fundamental values of your religious or secular feasting such as togetherness, care and some hedonistic pleasure. (document your family cooking and preparing food together in the kitchen to underline cooperation and community) (document all the ways you're enjoying left-overs for multiple days to feature gratefulness for abundance and family time - especially for our US and Canadian Peas stuck inside for another couple of days) (document your grocery store trip with either foods to start preparing NYE or healthier options after all the feasting to record the fresh chapter ahead with 2023 right around the corner) Creative prompt: Compose with multiple elements from a variety of collections or types of products just like you would with an elaborate recipe. Pick from several manufacturers and different lines. Mix old and new. Be bold with your pattern and colour choices. Take a little from left and right to make a beautiful and unexpected spread happen. Song of the day:

Today I am going to work on Day 25. Last year I went all the way through December. This year I am stopping at 25.
I am not are I will do DD next year. We will see. 2021 I was all in. It was new and fun. This year was a struggle for many reasons. I wasn't creative as last year either. I just wanted to get the pages done.

My family just left a few minutes ago (been here since 12/22). NOW I can scrapbook. Lol I took the day off to recover from the celebrating and to work on my albums (dd, PL, and thinking about setting up OLW). I’m super slow which is part of my fun.

I know you've all been waiting for an update: I've just finished the last of the carrot and pineapple in jelly salad I made for Boxing Day with lunch today. I made mini versions of it which set faster and were easier to store in the fridge which was looking rather full. It was a delightful walk down memory lane and I enjoyed it more than I expected, it was very refreshing in the heat of yesterday.

Well I figured out the ending page to my DD 2022. I used one of the 12 2x2 6x8 page protectors that came with my album and cut out the 2x2 cards from the Simple Stories Mix And A Mingle 2x2/4x4 Elements paper and inserted them in to the front.
On the back will each write (type for ds) 3 good things that happened in 2022.
2022 has been a rough year and I think going back and seeing the good will be good for me and the 4 of us. To remind us that even during tough years, there is still good and happiness.

December 28th: IN REVIEW // As 2022 draws to a close, it's the right time to take a moment to reflect on the year we've had. From lessons learnt to a recap of everything you've done, this review can take you many places and headspaces. Don't pressure yourself to do this one particular way or another. Whatever floats your boat when it comes to looking back on this year is perfectly ok. Story prompt: "I don't know about you, but I'm feeling done with '22" And cue the Taylor Swift song one last time... As you look back on the past 12 months, figure out a review format that works best for the year you've had. (document your review chronologically with micro monthly or mini seasonal recaps including major new headlines, personal and family milestones + events, booster shots, best TV series/book/song/album of the year - the December 2022 Documenter Kit from Studio Calico features a 4x6 recap card with all 12 months if you want to keep it super short and simple with the digital set of cards being on sale for $1 right now) (document your review using numbers and yearly favourites such as number of books read, hours of podcast episodes listened to, best restaurant visited, exhibit seen, playlist of the year, etc. - Liz Tamanaha from Paislee Press has a digital collection for an annual recap in this format including PL cards, 3x8 cards and a 12x12 LO template) Creative prompt: It's all about gathering pictures today! Go through your 2022 photos and pick your very favourite(s) to illustrate the year. Take screenshots of your music/podcast app if you're recording such information. Go hunt the internet for the posters of your fave movies, series and the logos of the businesses you're highlighting. Song of the day:

Im in Texas (north of Austin) and our actual temperature was -1 today with it getting to a whopping 9. Windchill was -28. Our winds were up to 50 mph. Wow! It hasn't been that cold in Northern Utah! We had rain instead of snow two days ago.
I am sad because of Milo. I am sad because Sadie isnt here. I am super sad because no Christmas Eve because my dad has Covid. I am sad because I dont get to wear my Grinch costume I got to surprise the cousins (my nieces and nephews). I am sad because my parents cant come over for Christmas Day meal I had done for years now. I am also sad because I really cant get into the Christmas spirit this year. Lots of medical worries on my plate right now. ((hugs)) I haven't felt it this year.
I'm not very good at doing special traditions/celebrations for just the two of us at home. I'm not good at doing it with my family. They said stop giving us Christmas Eve pajamas. They've lost interest in the two Christmas movies we watch each year. Do they give another suggestion? No.
sleepingbooty I just wanted you to know I've been slowly working on this project and trying the daily creative prompts. For my sanity, I'm purposely curating (see what I did there... ) a very superficial type of December Daily. My youngest has been having more frequent seizures and the the oldest child continues to be a challenge. I did find a use for my Elf 'you sit on a throne of lies' sticker. That's probably as deep as I can get this year with journaling. I've read your journal prompts and have saved some on Pinterest. I'm randomly picking a prompt to go with the completed page which is way out of my comfort zone.
I wanted to thank you for the blessed distraction your December Daily prompts give me. I tend to be a flat embellishment kind of scrapper. Challenge #7 to do a fold out took embarrassingly long. I'm using a 5.5" by 3.5" notebook and it has became quite bulky. I think I may need to use a second one!

This was a lot easier last year. When I just decided spurr of the moment to whip up a DD at the last minute (12/31).
I feel so uninspired and indifferent. ☹️ A few days ago I decided to give myself permission to just NOT do it. But after the initial relief of “whew, I can stop thinking about this!”, I realized I really do want to have it. I guess that’s the thing - I want to have the DD, I’m just not wanting to DO the DD. 🤪
Making the tiniest bits of progress, but it mostly feels like I’m moving stuff in circles on my desk.

There are more in the article here girlfriendisbetter.com/2019/05/jello-salads/I'm not down for mixing salad and meats inside jelly at the best of times, but I don't think the celery flavour would have been terrible. I'm not sure I could come at mixed vegetable flavour, whatever that actually tastes like.
