And one more page from me that really embraces the colour scheme for my album Love your pages, the color scheme is so cohesive.

My DD stops on Christmas Day. DD got sick on Christmas Day night (vomit everywhere, PLEASE tell me I am not alone with a 14 year old that cannot make it to the toilet!!!!! ??!!!!). Everything is finally cleaned up, laundry done, xmas decor down, etc (yup I take it all down right after xmas) so I am a few days behind in my journaling (all photos have been taken), so I plan on catching up this weekend to finish all the journaling while everything is still fresh so I can get back to scrapping! I hate when this season ends, I love this thread. We share so much in this thread that I feel like everyone here is a fiend.

PSA: Tomorrow is our second catch-up day. I'm off work and home for the day, ready to play. I have photos to print, journaling to finish (and print, too) and design decisions to make (not me spending way too much time on figuring out the right placement for that *one* single chipboard star I want to adhere down 😆). If you have DD catch-up to do, consider hopping in here for some chatter, encouragement and crafty fun! ✂️ December 29th: LOOKING FORWARD // With 48h to go before we enter a brand new year, today's focus is on what's coming up and how your life, environment and mindset is already shifting. Yesterday, we reflected. Today, we turn around and head into the future. Story prompt: "On the next episode..." Whether you're looking ahead to the next year or how you're preparing for the NYE celebrations, set your sight on what's coming next. (document what 2023 has in store for each of your family members and interview them about what they're most excited for in the coming year) (document your NYE preparations: a quick grocery run for some fun finger food and drinks, balloons being blown, photo booth props on display, warm coats and mittens by the door if you plan on leaving your home for the midnight fireworks, etc.) (document your hopes and desires for the next year with categories for each of your focuses such as 'home', 'travel', 'self-care', etc.) Creative prompt: As the new year is still a couple of days away, waiting to be fully revealed, have fun with your own hide-and-seek crafting. Add tags with tabs to pull out from behind a photo to reveal the journaling (or another photo!). Turn a page into a large pocket and punch out half a circle to pull out a letter to your children or spouse with your new year's wishes for them. Let extra bits pop out from behind the main elements like 2023 about to pop up from underneath 2022! Cheers, m'dears. *pops the champagne a little early* 🍾 Song of the day:

DD got sick on Christmas Day night (vomit everywhere, PLEASE tell me I am not alone with a 14 year old that cannot make it to the toilet!!!!! ??!!!!). Oh no! That sounds like a bad case of gastroenteritis. Your poor DD, scrappypeanut. I hope she's starting to feel a bit better and that you can rest after fighting off the vomit-vasion. Not a fun way to end the Christmas celebrations. I hate when this season ends, I love this thread. We share so much in this thread that I feel like everyone here is a fiend. Aww, it's such a cosy nook, isn't it? I bet we'll have an influx of DD-ers when the NYE feasting is over so they can start/continue working on their DD. I hope you stick around to see what everyone is up to. It's not quite over until most albums are finished... Thinking I might start my album today. We're done with family celebrations and my plan was to only go to the 28th anyways. I might look for a story or take some pictures today just in case I want to go all the way to the 31st but we'll see. Wishing you a lovely start to your DD crafting! Do you have your products picked out? Anything in particular you're looking forward to documenting (story or paper goods you're super excited about using)? Looking for a good jello salad image for my book I found this special jello for salads in tasty savory flavors... but I'm not sure if it sounds better or worse than encasing leftovers in sweet lime jelly! This Jell-O world is weird. What the heck? I'm going to need a crash course in all the tastes that exist. What's currently most bought in your corner of the US, joblackford? I feel so uninspired and indifferent. ☹️ A few days ago I decided to give myself permission to just NOT do it. But after the initial relief of “whew, I can stop thinking about this!”, I realized I really do want to have it. I guess that’s the thing - I want to have the DD, I’m just not wanting to DO the DD. 🤪 It can be a real conundrum sometimes... I feel you! Been there, struggled with that. Could you make it easier on yourself by just doing the stories you really want recorded instead of daily? That could make it more manageable. I'll be in here doing a massive catch-up for my own DD tomorrow if you're interested. Hop in if you want some encouragement and hear me whining about everything that's going wrong (don't do this to me, dear printer, just play nice for once). sleepingbooty I just wanted you to know I've been slowly working on this project and trying the daily creative prompts. For my sanity, I'm purposely curating (see what I did there... ) a very superficial type of December Daily. My youngest has been having more frequent seizures and the the oldest child continues to be a challenge. I did find a use for my Elf 'you sit on a throne of lies' sticker. That's probably as deep as I can get this year with journaling. I've read your journal prompts and have saved some on Pinterest. I'm randomly picking a prompt to go with the completed page which is way out of my comfort zone. I wanted to thank you for the blessed distraction your December Daily prompts give me. I tend to be a flat embellishment kind of scrapper. Challenge #7 to do a fold out took embarrassingly long. I'm using a 5.5" by 3.5" notebook and it has became quite bulky. I think I may need to use a second one! First of all, big hugs, refugeepea. That is one rough December season you're going through. Seizures are scary, even if you're "used" to them. I think letting yourself have a creative and super crafty DD rather than the traditional in-depth storytelling kind was just the right thing for you this year. It sounds like it was a wonderful outlet to get your mind off things. It's all you! My prompts were just the tiny spark to your creative fire. I'm so glad you found a way to enjoy DD after all. And hey, needing a second notebook is a good sign! Sometimes, you just need extra space for extra fun. This all sounds delightful and I'm super intrigued by your fold-out page. Can't have been easy in a small notebook! If you're ever sharing a little peek inside, please tag me. Would love to see all the "superficial" (ahem, it's called "aesthetic", obviously #fancy ) fun you've having. I know you've all been waiting for an update: I've just finished the last of the carrot and pineapple in jelly salad I made for Boxing Day with lunch today. I made mini versions of it which set faster and were easier to store in the fridge which was looking rather full. It was a delightful walk down memory lane and I enjoyed it more than I expected, it was very refreshing in the heat of yesterday. AAAAH SHEEEEEEET, SHE DID EEEEET! This looks adorably retro, Chinagirl828. How did the family react? Which Jell-O (sorry, I've forgotten the Aussie brand name you'd mentioned earlier in this thread, oops) flavour did you use for it? I can't believe we got a Pea to do a Jell-O salad for DD. #achievementunlocked And how did you figure out your grandmother's recipe in the end? Did it take some guess work?

My Mum used to make it pretty regularly when I was a kid but we ended up googling just to be sure, and lucky we did as I would never have guessed it needed a little splash of vinegar. This is the receipe we ended up using, without the mint as I didn't have any on hand. We had quite the throwback lunch on Boxing Day, when I was a kid we always had cold chicken and salad for dinner after the big traditional Christmas lunch, so we served basically all the same things on Boxing Day. It was received better than I had expected. And I will obviously be scrapping this story

I need to join you in catch up day tomorrow morning. Because I am totally getting over December daily. I haven’t numbered this year so I may do December 24/25 and then decide if I’m filling in. I currently up to day 17. So close yet so far if I never do any of it. Lol

I used yesterday as a catch-up day on my Dec album and hope to spend some more time today. Last night I went through all my photos except Christmas Day, printed what I wanted, then put them into the album along with any specific embellishments, and added paper and PL cards where I was confident in my choices, which gives me eight days ready to go. There are still three days in my album that I need to find stories for, I have at least two more stories I know I want to include, so I just need to work out where they'll best fit, then determine what is going in the last empty day.
Then I just have to deal with Christmas day which is usually a multi-page spread in my album.

This Jell-O world is weird. What the heck? I'm going to need a crash course in all the tastes that exist. What's currently most bought in your corner of the US, joblackford? It looks like all the savory flavors were discontinued by the 80s. I have barely eaten jelly in 20 years but it looks like they've scaled back to basic fruit flavors (lime, orange, lemon, strawberry, "berry blue") and branched out into some pudding flavors which I suspect are often used for pie fillings.

I've been getting through a couple of digital pages most afternoons. I feel like I'm working very slowly but it's coming together. I skipped over the days where our trip got canceled and circled back around them once I figured out what I wanted to include. I think I'm going to try and do a timeline/schedule page showing what we had planned to do vs what we actually did. It feels strange to leave out all the plans I had made and imagined even though they didn't happen. Anyway, I'll figure that out. I've been working around the edges, doing the easy pages first.
Our family (who went on the trip without us, but much delayed) are getting back tonight. Snow canceled their Golden Circle trip so I was really crossing my fingers that the Northern Lights hunt last night would go well for them. Nope. A big bus got stuck in the unseasonable deep snow and their small bus couldn't get out, then got really stuck trying to drive around it. No aurora, but my 13yo nephew thought the drama was awesome fun. Sometimes small disasters make for good family memories and hopefully they had a great time. But looking at how it worked out I would've had a hard time with every single plan I made going to $#!& AND missing all the pre-Christmas stuff too, especially spending way more to get way less.

It looks like all the savory flavors were discontinued by the 80s. That's because they're an abomination against humanity. I think this is a really great way to handle it. It sounds like choosing to stay home rather than keep pushing for flights out was the right decision for you this year, but I totally get wanting to include what should have been in your album. We didn't have firm plans for 2020 but had expected to spend Christmas somewhere around Finland. For obvious reasons our plans were cancelled but I still mentioned it in my album that year even though we had known for several months it wasn't going to happen. Congrats on finishing!

Finally have all my photos edited and printed. Walgreens had a really good coupon for 4 x 6 prints. I have taken notes/ journaled, made PL cards and planned out the album. Now I need to spend the next week putting the album together.
This thread has been so helpful in keeping me motivated to complete this project.

It's a moody, grey day in my part of the world so I've spent it inside, not leaving the apartment once, relaxing. I had a major hiccup with my Selphy this morning which means I have my fingers crossed my new ink cartridge + paper pack is delivered tomorrow (Amazon to the rescue) so I can go back to printing photos. I've got a cup of piping hot glögg, one of the new Hallmark Christmas movies playing (Hanukkah on Rye), the Christmas lights on and a list of scrappy things to finish. Cosy af. I'm technically still working on DD as I'm finishing up the daily journaling in my memory planner for this month. It's been very nice having a day to catch up on all that, add extra anecdotes, write up national and world news events, etc. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy doing memory-planning and how big of a help it is with other documenting projects. Everything's right in there and I can extract all the info I need from it to fill my PL pages and DD. Anyone joining me with catching up on December memories today?

I am planning to scrapbook for a lot of the day. I’m pretty slow though. I want to finish my PL of Christmas week that I started last night and then I’ll switch over to doing some December daily. I really don’t have much done there at all and since keeping up with Pl is my priority and then starting OLW this weekend too, I can see me working on December daily throughout a lot of the year, ho ho ho. But I did plan out each story and make sure the layout size made sense like 1 or two pages depending on the story that would be next to it.

I had done all the prep work. I had all my photos printed, all my journaling printed, things in page protectors. Then I started this morning. I'm about half way through. I have a very simple style so it's not like it is terribly involved but I'm glad to be making progress.

I've been working on my album today and have managed to get all the way to day 11 done. Some days are 1 side of a 6x8 page and some are 2, just going with the flow. I've been printing out my photos with my Epson PictureMate and I love the option of printing 2 photos on one 4x6 paper. It just saves me so much time. Keeping my supplies to just what I ordered from AE this year and that's helped with creativity and moving things along. Hopefully I will finish before the weekend is over.

You all are inspiring! I still haven’t started on 2022, but I finished 2021 earlier this month. And last week I came across printed photos intended for DD 2020, so I did a junk journal and hope to be finished by January 2nd. Lilian Guerrero has a really pretty ascetic for junk journals and has a YouTube channel, for anyone interested.

Today I made some filler pages with IACB digitals. I'm adding a few here and there to break up my book which is photo heavy and light on embellishment. I wrote a list of my new winter clothes to go with a cute mitten card and put a decorative card in to mark where Christmas Day starts.
I also figured out a page that I didn't have a photo for. We took sushi to MIL's for Xmas Eve lunch so I considered using a drawing. But I ended up choosing a "holiday tradition" word art and adding a photo of the first Xmas Eve sushi night I remember, 12 years ago when my nibling was a baby. I turned the photo B&W to emphasize that it was from the past.

Thank you for sharing your pages jeremysgirl. Beautiful. I also started a new tradition this year for Hannah- it’s one of the pages I completed yesterday (minus the journaling which I’ll do today). I did a lot yesterday! For me anyway since I’m pokey. I was on a roll so I just kept creating and not doing the journaling which slows me down since I type it on my phone and print and had to fuss with size, etc. journaling is a today problem. 😂 I completed Christmas week project life- but that’s a big spread- it’s a 12x9 double page, 2 flip outs with more content, and a 12x6 insert. I also did pages 5-9 in my December daily.

One final huzzah, dear DD-ers, and that's it. 2022 will be gone. The thread will live on as many of us (yours truly included) will continue to work on their albums and remain busy for a few more weeks. But the prompts end here. And the madness of our beloved December season, too. It will soon be time to rest and recover with our stories and photos. From the bottom of my December-loving heart, thank you. I've loved the shared thrill of anticipation, the collection and product reveals, the finishing touches to last year's albums in July, the putting together of kits, the sharing of purchases, the general excitement and the genuine care shown to each other. I hope to see many of you in here in January 2023 as some of us continue to work and share our DD progress. I hope you've all found contentment this holiday season even if everything didn't go according to plan, even if your year has been difficult. I hope you've found warmth and community in here. I hope this project and discussion have helped you enjoy what December had to offer this year. You've made it through another super busy season (and some of us still have some feasting ahead with the Twelfth Night and Epiphany). You've collected stories and photos. You've done it. Take a bow and enjoy the applause because you deserve it. One last time (with feeling)... December 31st: OUT // 2022 is coming to an end and the new year is just hours away. We're about to head out and into 2023. Today is the perfect day to embrace the theme of going and finishing. Story prompt: "Over and out." For the final memory to record this year, look to the different ways the year is being finalised in your life. Where's that full stop and how do you capture its meaning and what it symbolises? (document how you're going out of 2022 in style with the festive menu, party hats, music and other celebratory happenings) (document the transition from the old into the new with the lights out: fireworks in the evening sky, candles on the table for your NYE dinner, heading outside into the dark yard to welcome the new year in with party whistles and firecrackers) (document the well-earned sleep after a season of feasting and celebrating with the kids falling asleep after - or before! - midnight, you and your significant other sitting in your PJs to welcome the new year, your pets pooped out by the fireplace tonight, etc.) Creative prompt: The circle comes to a close. Another one begins. Also, the full stop of this year. Make it round. Make it large. Make it a statement. Print or cut out a large circle: your journaling for the day, the final photo of the year, a piece of pattern paper to lay a mosaic of small photos on top of, etc. Embrace the dramatic vibes by adding a "the end." to your spread. This is all about going out in true graphic style and making a point (pun intended) about the final journey of the year. Song of the day:
