Congrats to our own legallady who was just announced as an ae dd team member!!!! Thanks! But there isn't a DD team this year, just brand ambassadors and they're just highlighting some of the ambassadors. |

Has anyone ever done a black out, heavy black theme colored DD Album? I recently ordered from lights planner action her DD themed black out papers and I am thinking about using those + black dot paper as the anchor for my album and then embellishing with paper lines that include black in colors. Anyone ever done this?

Anyone ever done this? I've done an almost exclusively black and white, super graphic Christmas memory album once (except the photos). It was a gift for my partner's family member who was our host for the holidays. I had even sourced a B&W wood veneer. It's a very cool aesthetic! You're just stuck when it comes to embellishments as Christmas collections usually don't come in B&W. I absolutely recommend it. The photos with lights and colourful, shiny Christmas décor just pop off the pages with the black background.  |

I think I'm making the definitive switch to the DD volume album (several years + childhood memories) this year. I'm going to recap the month as succinctly as possible and then have some creative fun for the big stories. I'm also working with a smaller than usual budget and embracing the sales (Sahara vacay this autumn + Disneyland annual passes to buy). My one exception to the budget is, as always, the Paislee Press mini kit. If I love the new one, I'm getting it for next year.  My starting point: the animal icons from Crate Paper's Mittens & Mistletoe. Still very, very much in love with them (the skunk honey badger writing a letter, the decorating bear, the mug-hugging chipmunk, my heart!). My DD 2022 colour scheme: white, a few muted pastel-y shades (blush pink, mint), sage green, soft grey, touches of black and red, bronze/copper/rose gold foil. I'm loving these colours for winter memories this year and found some extra stuff on the cheap from the Sales section at AE. I usually wait until the AE actual release to pull my bin of DD supplies out of the basement. This time of year is really busy for me with the start of a new school year so once things settle down, the joy of the stash gathering gets me through midterms. I love everything you linked to. It's going to be really beautiful. Can't wait! I have to admit that after the initial live, I've not been super excited about the AE sneaks. I ordered some things from ACOT and they are on the way. My cart is full of Cookies for Kringle and some of the Simple Stories lines. As soon as I see the AE albums, I'll purchase my ACOT cart. Right now I'm thinking of going with the Simple Stories album. It was just so much cheaper than the Vicki Boutin (which I have saved for later just in case - one of her recent albums was just in the ACOT sale for like $12 so you never know). |

I'm sorry. I know they're supposed to be diverse/inclusive but those hipster looking Santas with what look like holes in their heads (dots?) just creep me out. lol Maybe it's the holes or the glasses with the moustache but ugh.

Can't give me any credit for getting my 2022 kit sorted already! It's just a natural progression from what I've been doing all summer long... (Also, no kids/not a teacher here. I have it pretty easy.) Cookies for Kringle is such a fun line! Love those vintage vibes with the clean, white background. There are a few really cute regular scrapbook lines on the market this year so I fully expect to see more scrapbook products used/mixed into DD albums this year than usual. Can't wait to hear what you (and the other DD-ing Peas) are buying for their 2022 DD kits!  |

Haha (hoho?), I actually like these Santas except for the random four holes punched in the hats. What's that all about? Moths? The Santa on the right also looks like he has a mole right at the base of his nostril due to the width of the brush line but otherwise, these are cool with me. It's definitely a different style from the traditional Santa Claus depiction and that's bound not to please everyone. Those oversized square frames are totally 1980s grandpa, right? They usually came in a faded brown finish...  |

There’s also a set of black & gold Thickers phrases. |

Out of my comfort zone but also sounds cool Thanks - not the album or aesthetic for some, I agree, but I decided to do something different this year as I wanted to use up some things I bought that didn’t match the generic “Christmas colours” (red, green, gold) in the rest of my stash and, let’s face it, I’m a little more rock and roll/emo than other scrappers/creators a lot of the time (most of my albums have a black base rather than a white one, and I’ll always go for dark and moody over light and pastel colours.) I wanted to challenge myself as well so thought I’d really go all in and only print black and white photos - much more of a photography challenge for me to get the lighting right and play with shadows… totally going all film noir for this project/album with just enough metallics so that it isn’t maudlin or depressing. If I miss using colours, I am thinking of starting a “Christmas traditions” album this year (aka the one Ali showed that her mum made) so I’ll be able to print colour photos and use the coloured embellishments for that album. Thought it was a way to not get stuck in a dd rut where all the albums start to look the same, or I repeat the same ideas or my favourite page designs over and over again as I just won’t be able to with what I have to use! Even found some vellum pieces and word phrases from the glow story kit that fit right in as they are rose gold/bronze toned and I had NO PLANS on how to ever use them… then there are all those plastic phrases with white writing from the story kits also in my stash (cozy kit, kind kit, breathe kit etc) that have themes that should go really well with Christmas photos AND actually pop on the mostly black backgrounds. Will this stop me from buying a heap in this years dd release from all the shops and designers? I hope so, but reality screams probably not 😂 |

lg I love B&W photos, I can't wait to see how yours comes out! Personally I couldn't commit to that for DD because there are too many colorful things I love to photograph, but it's something I've always been tempted to try for WITL. As far as products, KP usually comes out w/ a B&W and red version of her main kit. I know you're not going for the red, but maybe there's enough that's just b&w that it could work for you.

Caught the sort-of-end of the DD talk between ali/liz/lisa -- I'm kinda working so couldn't take screenshots in the moment, sorry! They're still going but answering questions now, sounds like they went over liz's kit from this year and here's the rundown of what you get --
I heard 6x8 papers (outside the pp size) but didn't catch how many, also 4x6 cards -- didn't catch how many.
18 3x4 some w/ gold foiling
1 4x6 puffy sticker
1 4x6 chipboard w/ adhesive (the new thinner chip)
3 3x4 transparency sheets
1 4x6 transparency sheet
5 1.5-2 inch wood veneer shapes
also designed by her --
6x8 album floral (holy shit this is beautiful!) w/ gold foil inside stripes - w/ pp
4x6 stamp (idk if included? not usually right? so probably not)
saw some deep reds and lighter browns, the album is a dark base which I really love!
showed 10x8 santa album ali's using this one (santas only in 10x8) - also said they have 1 more album to show probably next friday
editing bc ali just mentioned a 10x8 buildable w/ a simple pattern chipboard cover they haven't shown -- must be the one they have left.
