now I’m just cold and grumpy because of the sudden transition to the gloom. I feel this. We had weeks of rain. I forget how many days they said we had rain but it was the longest streak in a very long time. Luckily, we've had glorious weather the past couple of days and it will last for a few more. It refuels me as we head into winter. Gloomy weather is the worst. I hate when it's monochrome outside. Don’t ever move to western Washington! 50 shades of grey… skies, trees, water/ocean, sand… (there’s another thread about our grey sand)

Don’t ever move to western Washington! 50 shades of grey… skies, trees, water/ocean, sand… (there’s another thread about our grey sand) We've had unusually warmer temperatures for most of October. In the low to mid 70's until yesterday. The last two days have been stormy and I've been so excited!
We saw a silent film (Nosferatu) in another town that's at a slightly higher elevation and all the trees and shrubs were glorious in orange and red! Of course it is nothing compared to what the Northeast gets!
The film was very cool. It is in a old theater with a 1920's art deco vibe. The organist came out in a cape with a fog machine going and a coffin was on stage. He was also wearing a white shirt and black tie. Then the organ rose from the center of the stage. He was supposed to slowly lower once the movie started and you could here him yelling lower! at least three times.
I loved listening to the music. The film got a bit boring towards the end, but there was laughter at the dramatic love story between the two main characters. It was fun people watching too. There were a few vampires who came to view the movie.

Since October isn't over yet, I had to pull this thread out of its untimely death on page 2.
I'm still plugging away. I knocked a couple of things off my list. I used the coffin box for a party we went to over the weekend and it was fun.
Then I knew I wanted to do a page about the packaging I've been saving and didn't want to do another 2X2 pocket situation so I remembered the AE grid paper that came in the Halloween kit. It will be perfect. I also took a photo last time I was in the Dollar Tree buying stuff and I'm going to use that in one of the squares.
I was a little stumped but I worked through it and I'm not burnt out yet.
10 more stories!

I haven’t had a chance to work in anything and nothing that interesting has happened so I’m also not particularly motivated. This afternoon I have some work webinars to listen to so I might do some stuff while I listen.

and nothing that interesting has happened Same! My daughter went to a dance weekend thing and I don't think I want to make a layout of that so I'm not. I decided to put all the marching band crap in one layout instead of separate so I can't do that until after the last parade/game on Friday. I was going to do a separate page for our costumes but then realized we were wearing them at the party last weekend so I'm not going to do another page of just those. I bought Milo the bat wings from Target so now he has two costumes. I just thought the bat wings would go better with Charlie's vampire cloak. And off-topic but I bought a red buffalo plaid bandana and a bow for the cats since I ordered us all the matching jams from Old Navy. Ha! Where is sleepingbooty ? I hope everything's ok. Haven't seen her on here in a while and I know the dog had surgery.

I’m done through day 27. I just tried using the Halloween stamp Set I got from Ali Edwards and all five block phrases are not cut deeply enough and the words don’t show at all - they are just colored blobs. I don’t even like most of the stamps on the set- I bought it for those stamps and words at the bottom (which does work). But 19.99 for just one stamp that’s useable (to me) is really not worth it. I started a conversation with a picture of the non working stamps. Does anyone else have those stamps- do yours give a correct image?

Saturdays are good for catching up.
Story 24 was about a party we went to last night. So excited for that layout. I loved making it. 25 will be a watch list. I printed and cut a TV and will slide the screenshots into it.
Then I had to plan out the last stories so that it would all work.
26 3X8 layout of a couple of food items 27 pumpkin carving in a pumpkin card I got at the dollar store 28 costumes/cat costumes in a pocket page (will do front and back) 29 photos of decorations in the cauldron 30 our candy (took photos today). I'm going to stitch the page to a piece of cardstock 31 2-page layout using the Halloween town scene pockets I made earlier. This will be for actual Halloween and trick or treat. I'll back the 2nd page with some pattern paper with simple embellishments.
I still have a couple of things left to use from my list of things I really want to include:
pom pom trim (will do on the pocket page) that potion bottle ribbon must get used somewhere! two black cats (the puppet and the cut file)
We had the best time today doing a photo shoot of the cats in their costumes. It was pandemonium and hilarious.
They are both so tired now. ha!
Count Chonkula loved her vampire cape (well, not at all but she looked gorgeous in it). I'll post pics after I sort through them.

paget mine aren’t blobs but it’s impossible to get a clean image where the entire phrase is legible. Definitely not cut deep enough. This has happened to me before with their stamps sets. Did they switch manufacturers? I started noticing it this year, they seemed cut shallower. I’m weary of this every time I get a set because I don’t always test them right away.

Thanks for letting me know! I can’t get an image at all on 3 of them and two you can make out a few letters. It’s terrible.

Does anyone else have those stamps- do yours give a correct image? I just stamped an older stamp from SC that did that to me yesterday. So disappointing. I’m sorry that happened.

Here’s part of the story for day 29 - walking my dogs and what happened on each of their walks as they prefer to go separately (not thrilling material over here but sort of funny stories lol). Anyway- I used a new AE set I got during the free shipping for stamps sale when she restocked the Christmas tree stamp. I’m a sucker for pattern stamps and besides Christmas I thought it would be a good stamp for hiking & camping stories and fall trees, too, and then I realized what a perfect slice of pepperoni pizza I also made there! Lol love finding multiples uses for stamps. 😂

paget did you condition them with an eraser? Also try stamping on something soft. My CTMH stamps have a tiny pad of foam in them I use to stamp larger stamps on. Also the ink you are using sometimes makes a difference. Some can spread more.

Also try stamping on something soft. Good suggestion ecvnj58 I've been printing for years and went to a block printing session where the teacher put a yoga mat on each of the work tables and it made such a huge difference. I learned to print in a proper professional setting but never thought to do that at home - why on earth didn't I think of it!?

Sorry it has taken so long but here are 10 photos from our favorite houses here in town. Enjoy! Those are so cool! There's a few houses around here with a few decorations, but nothing like the States.

Just want to wish you all a very happy Halloween/Samhain/All Hallows Eve. I've not done any memory keeping for this month (I've been thinkiing about it though, does that count?) but I've loved this thread and seeing all your layouts and photos.
This last week I've been down to deepest, darkest Dorset to visit my parents. For those who don't know it, it's a rual part of the country, in south west England. It's famous for fossils and Mary Anning, a stunning coastline and rolling hills. A lot of Thomas Hardy's works are based in Dorset and Jane Austin lived here for a bit. It's great and very beautiful and I am very, very lucky my folks moved here last year. Anyway, we discovered that there is an old road called Hell's Lane not far from Bridport. A perfect sounding place for spooky season! It's amazing. It runs deep into the ground so you have 10ft sandstone walls either side of you. They've been carved with images over the centuries (some apparently go back 200 years, others are more recent - we saw a Homer Simpson in the rock) and the tree roots dangle beside you. Cannot reccomend visiting there enough if you happen to be in the UK. Anyway, thought some of you might be interested in hearing about that. Here's a few pictures I took and a bit more information here. It's pouring with rain here at the moment so we have had zero trick or treaters. That's not stopped my kids going out though! Hope you all have a fun evening tonight

Just realized I forgot to post these photos I took of an over-the-top decorated house. I didn't see it at night but having seen their Christmas displays I imagine it was even better than it looked during the daytime. The details are nuts - werewolf heads on skeletons, skeleton dogs lining the pathway, so many skeletons... (all I can think of is where they store all this stuff, especially knowing they do multiple holidays to this level) It's a very regimented display so I'm guess their organization skills are top notch. you should be able to zoom into the photos on flickr OTT Halloween house by jo.blackford, on Flickr OTT Halloween house by jo.blackford, on Flickr OTT Halloween house by jo.blackford, on Flickr OTT Halloween house by jo.blackford, on Flickr
