I have quite a bit of catching up to do but so far, I join team Ghost oF Christmas Always + Three Wise Men and a Baby. Both were real treats and significantly better than the rest I watched/attempted to watch. The Netflix releases so far are a dud (Noel Diary, Falling For Christmas, Christmas With You). And the Italian remake of Home for Christmas looks to be identical to the original one which is both silly and unnecessary ( I Hate Christmas trailer). I would've probably enjoyed this with a few changes but as is, meh. Will still try it, however... Hoping Hotel for the Holidays releasing today on FreeVee makes my silly-Christmas-movies-ftw heart sing... Has anyone seen Mickey Saves Christmas? I quit D+ last month and was wondering whether it was worth picking my subscription back up for.

I watched quite a few Sesame Street Christmas specials with my toddler last night.
The Nutcracker with Elmo and Tango had him giggling up a storm. 5 out of 5. 😄

The Nutcracker with Elmo and Tango had him giggling up a storm. 5 out of 5. 😄 Oh my dog, when did Elmo get a puppy? I've never seen Tango before. What a cutie... 😍 I have managed to get off work before 6PM today (huzzah). My SO has cooked butternut and carrot soup. We're going to make some croque monsieur/grilled cheese sandwiches to got with it and spend a cosy night in with holiday movies. I have Hotel for the Holidays and Your Christmas or Mine? lined up. Your Christmas or Mine? looks great (just don't let the trailer play out or the entire movie is given away) and features Asa Butterfield from Sex Education. It just released on Prime Video. For the Dolly Parton fans (I mean, who isn't?), here's Dolly presenting her upcoming NBC Christmas special:

I think my favourite Hallmark movie this year has been Ghost of Christmas Always, though. Yes! Still my favorite out of what I've watched this year. And oh my, Southern Family Christmas was good. Last year I watched a show set in that same area with a Pere Noel story line. I really liked it. I'll try to figure out the name of it. Has anyone watched Christmas Prince? I haven't seen it yet. Christmas Prince is one of my favorites this year. So cute. I have watched parts of it again when it has come on.

I haven’t read through the whole thread, so not sure if my comment is relevant! I’m not a hallmark movie person. But I wanted to share a recommendation that I haven’t heard many people anywhere mention - 8Bit Christmas. It came out a year or two ago. Neil Patrick Harris. It’s set in the 80s, when Nintendo and Cabbage Patch Kuds were the rage. It’s really a sweet and funny movie. I saw it last year and loved it.

Hotel for the Holidays: I wanted to like this one, heck, I wanted to love it for what it was trying to be, Christmas rom-com silliness. Unfortunately, it tried too much all at once and thus missed the mark on every single thing. Too many love stories and plotlines happening, too little time to develop them, including the main one. Your head's sort of spinning at first before you just start to withdraw. I'm sorry to say I couldn't even be brought to care to see Petsch's character get with Massoud's in the end. I can get down with some egregious ridicule OTT chaos but I can't forgive leaving me feeling cold and detached from the main couple meant to carry the movie. I don't even know why Luke and Georgia were meant to be together besides how beautiful they both are. This needed to be a mini series if they wanted to keep all the stories in the script (and just skip Pandora's, let's be honest here) or find a good editor to remain a feature. Still not as bad as Lohan's Netflix movie!
Your Christmas or Mine?: This one clicked. Granted, not the best or deepest Christmas rom-com you'll see. Not a classic for the ages. But it was enjoyable beginning to end, had a very good cast, let young love bask in its desire to be taken seriously, explored family dynamics and was well done. While I doubt I'll ever rewatch it, I was happy to spend some time in this movie's company tonight. If you just want to stay in, indulge in a hot cocoa, snuggle up and watch something new, this is a good 2022 pick to add to your list.

Has anyone seen Mickey Saves Christmas? I quit D+ last month and was wondering whether it was worth picking my subscription back up for. I did watch this earlier today with the tiny human. I enjoyed it! I thought it was cute and I always enjoy the classic claymation style. It is only 23 minutes long, so it works well for the toddler.

Binge watching christmas movies on my husband's netflix profile.... just to mess with the recommendations he gets .....hahahhahahaha! We've watched the Noel Diary and Christmas Creek today. First one really different - possibly because it was based on a book. Second one definitely of the seasonal schmultz but pleasantly so. Then hubby realised we were watching on his profile.... so he's put Bad Santa on!

Where did you watch this one? Sounds good. Your Christmas or Mine? is a Prime Video exclusive. Dropped yesterday! 😉 Has anyone seen Christmas with the Campbells already? If so, got a quick non-spoilery review? The trailer looks promising.

Not a christmas film, but the kids and I saw Matilda the Musical in the cinema last night and loved it. The cast are great, the songs are brilliant (Tim Minchin is a bloody genius imo) and there's a warmth there that reminds me of the Paddington films if you like those. Good fun all round. I think it's coming to Netflix soon, so worth a watch if you can.

Update: Christmas with the Campbells is not good. I cannot explain Brittany Snow and Justin Long joining this hot mess except that there was a decent amount of money and Vince Vaughn wrote this. I don't understand the target audience for this. The entire movie is carried by sexual double entendres that are cringe-inducing. You barely ever get a break from them. But it's still a typical Christmas rom-com. There's even a gratuitious fart. There must be a very small niche of 14-year old boys who secretly dig their mother's Christmas Hallmark movies but need a horny spin on the dialogue and a few very one-tone characters to truly enjoy it? I don't know. Maybe someone else in this thread will enjoy the humour. My SO quit this one less than 20 minutes into it. I only hung in there for Snow and Long. And then when their characters finally did get together, it was le disappointment because of the super chaste kiss. Justin Long leaned into that embrace with lips pursed together. Whiplash galore after the non-stop kinky dialogue I had to endure. Maybe Brittany Snow had terrible coffee breath that day? There's really no other explanation...

I multitasked through #XMAS because I really loved Claire Bowen on Nashville. I'm watching My Southern Family Christmas and it's fine but seeing Moira Kelly makes me want to watch The Cutting Edge for the bajillionth time. I do not miss CCB or Danica McKellar at all, and won't be tuning in to anything GAC.

"3 Wise Men and a Baby" is so far our best holiday movie of the season, not counting "Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special" or "Wednesday".
Last night we watched "A Big Fat Family Christmas"... it was okay. Not one I'd watch again.

I think it is on HBO Max. We really liked it too! This weekend I watched A Big Fat Family Christmas (it was ok...not fantastic but tolerable) and Christmas at the Golden Dragon (I liked this one).

Still super duper behind on new ones but last night was "Jenna's favs" night so we watched Snow Bride & the first Christmas in Evergreen. Snow Bride continues to be like.. top tier almost real movie quality to me. It's SO good even with the dumb stuff. I've sort of placed the new ones I've yet to watch in a list of most likely to least likely and want to get #xmas in today but seeing the cover just makes me want to watch Mingle All the Way from a couple years ago so that might make it to the TV instead lol

Some I'd seen before: Elf and Single All the Way
Some favorites: Happiest Season and Noelle
Some Hallmark, too: On the 12th Date of Christmas and 3 Wise Men & a Baby

When I Think of Christmas starring Shenae Grimes-Beech // This was good. And whoever said her hair was good was right. Her hair is freaking amazing. I'd watch it again. Tonight I watch 8-bit Christmas (thank you!). and I think I'm up to A Tale of Two Christmases. Has anyone watched that one yet?

Where can I find this one? You've never seen Snow Bride? Whaaaaaaat? It's one of Hallmark's very, very best ever. A true classic. Tenth anniversary coming up next year already. Oh boy, are you in for a treat. I hope someone in the US can help you figure out where to stream it (if not, I'm more than happy to send you the file). You must report back after watching it!

When I searched Frndly it didn't come up (shocker) but on Hallmark it showed playing at 10 today so I should be able to find it in the guide by scrolling and record it. I definitely have never seen it so I'm really excited. I watched 8-bit Christmas last night and it did NOT disappoint. It was great. I love me my Doogie. Love where his career has gone. He's so versatile as an actor. Tonight I am going to watch A Tale of Two Christmases because it's up next on my list. I've been having fun checking that thing off.

I definitely have never seen it so I'm really excited. I'm happy it's actually on Hallmark!! It really is the best and you'll love it. Katrina Law did another one in 2015 called 12 Gifts of Christmas that I also really like.. maybe I just like her lol. I use.. 🏴☠️ other means 🏴☠️ to watch the older ones that aren't on the channel often anymore. That's the biggest downside to putting out so much stuff! There's literally only so many hours in a day for them to play movies and they'd rather play some dud from last year 6 times in a week instead of the older gems you can't really find anywhere easily accessible.

Aaron O'Connell from 12 Gifts of Christmas and Bobby Campo who plays the male lead's brother in Snow Bride both star in one of my underrated Hallmark Christmas gems, My Christmas Love. If you can find that one and tape it, I highly recommend it, blemon. I wish Bobby Campo would return to Hallmark. *le sigh* His IMDB page is kind of empty. He could use the money. Come on, Hallmark, make it happen.

What do you mean by first Christmas in Evergreen? Is this a series? Should I add it to my Hallmark list? There's like.. 4 of them I think? They all focus on the same small fairytale-like town of Evergreen but the first one is the best imo. The secondary and tertiary characters continue throughout the films but the main "couples" that the story focuses on changes. You have -- Christmas in Evergreen Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy Christmas in Evergreen: Bells are Ringing Maybe watch the first one and if you're really into the town watch the next ones.

The first time I watched it I think I missed the beginning so the ending didn't quite make sense but I've seen it many many times since then and it holds up really well to repeated viewing, even though some bits are really silly.

Speaking of Katrina Law……. I really like “Christmas with the Darlings” (2020). Katrina, Carlo Marks and Steve Bacic are excellent. The plot is a little different from the usual Hallmark Christmas tropes and the acting is very enjoyable. Even the kids are good. I’ve watched it several times and it’s becoming a favorite. I only wish I could find it on DVD.

I just watched Falling for Christmas with Lindsay Lohan. I didn’t love it, it was just ok. I had higher hopes.
There’s also a documentary on HBO called Santa Camp, about professional Santa’s who go to this camp to learn and practice “Santa” techniques. It has a specific spin on trying to make Santa camp more diverse, but it fell flat for me. I’m all about a diverse Santa, but it definitely felt like the 3 diverse Santa’s on the film were just there because HBO wanted to make this specific film. There were moments where they were clearly uncomfortable and they shouldn’t have to educate other Santa’s about why representation matters.
