Like I can do anything about the price of eggs?!? $5 for 18 large eggs at Walmart today, and he’s bitching that I spent $10 on eggs. He *knows* that the breakfast casserole I’m making for Christmas brunch uses 9 eggs, and we still have cookies to make. Why bitch at me?!? Yes, I agree they’re expensive, but what does he want me to do; not buy them? I guess we could have cold cereal for Christmas brunch, maybe?? 🙄 why bitch at me about it? I think HE needs to do the grocery shopping and meal planning for a while, on the day before a forecasted storm and a few days before Christmas, to boot!!! (Or he could call our congressman and bitch at HIM; what am *I* supposed to do about it?!?)
Anyone else?? Please tell me it’s not just me who needs to vent, please!!!

Eggs are still one of the cheapest animal-based protein sources even at the elevated prices. I got lucky yesterday. I bought two dozen eggs at Target yesterday. I use the app to scan everything. In-store price was 4.49 but online 2.99. They matched the online prices.
Does he buy any coffee or fast food or entertainment? Ten bucks goes fast. Your egg purchase will create great memories for your kids and is cheaper than lots of other things you could do.
Have fun with your eggs. They are worth it.

I validate you! I'm divorced now so I don't deal with the bitching anymore! My vent is that it is literally minus 30 degrees Celsius here in Calgary ... not fun! My car hates this weather and so do I! I'm a teacher ... one more day!

Yep, you are married to a man. Mine went to the grocery store this morning and I got a frantic phone call. He locked his keys in the car. I threw on some clothes and drove to the store. I was expecting to see his groceries still in the shopping cart as he didn't have his keys. Nope, he had put his groceries into the back end of the car and shut it on the keys which were laying with the groceries. I asked him why he didn't just open it back up as you have to actually lock it with a key. It was unlocked and all he had to do was open it and get his keys. So all day I have been randomly saying you really fucked up today didn't you and then laughing like a loon.

I luck out in the eggs department. A family up the hill from us sells free-range farm eggs for $3.00 a dozen. They are beautiful and fresh. Unwashed too, so they keep longer.
I laughed when they apologized at the end of summer for raising the price from $2.50 a dozen to $3.00!

I’m impressed that 18 eggs were $5. It’s a little over $5 for a dozen in my part of Tennessee.
But I totally validate you. It’s crazy and there’s not much we can do about the cost of things. It’s not going to go down either.

He sounds like me! I am always complaining that the eggs at our grocery store are $5.29 for a dozen. You got a "bargain" compared to our grocery store! Some stores near us (Walmart, Target Aldi's) sell them for less, but I did buy the expensive ones yesterday.

Thank you for that! 🤣🤣🤣 it’s just that my DH hardly ever does the grocery shopping, and when he does, I get comments like “bread *should* be 50 cents a loaf, and butter *should* be 99 cents a lb…” and “people should be out in the street with torches and pitchforks protesting these prices” … I mean really, does he think it’s the year 1959, or what?!? I‘m 53 years old; I don’t ever remember seeing those prices since I’ve been an adult.

I try to buy eggs at Trader Joe’s … the basic cage-free ones are still only $2-something a dozen. Otherwise it’s a $4-$5 at the supermarket or Whole Foods. They’re all cage-free in California (by law, voted in by the actual citizens) so that’s absolutely rock-bottom pricing. We used to go through them fast when the 13yo was living with me, as he would eat two or more a day. And they’re worth every penny.

He hates the prices, and you get the blame? Give him that $20 weekly budget he thinks should work, and send him with your regular, weekly list.
I'm seeing MHIAA as a Reddit board, like IATA (grin). Might even be there, as I haven't looked.

I am sorry you have to listen to it. If you have to hear about it much more I would assume since he is so pissed about it he won’t want to eat them…I’d set out cereal for him. 😉😄.
I do agree it is crazy though, I just paid high 5s or low 6.00s for a dozen. I usually by the local brand but they were 7.29. I think bird flu plus the rise in cost of everything else has really caused the prices to increase. It is what it is. I want/need eggs and I am lucky enough to be able to afford them, so I am only muttering about it instead really bithching about it. Hahaha.

Can I join? Here is a good one although it’s not entirely his fault but it is. Missed 3 weeks of his paycheck (3 checks!) because he was sick with Covid. Now I know he can’t help that BUT he won’t get the shot. So I’m pissed. I got Covid too and didn’t have any energy to do anything for a week. At least I got paid! I haven’t been able to go Xmas shopping or holiday shopping for anyone really. No fun at all. I’m going to be going nuts on Friday trying to tie up everything in one flipping day.

I was feeling very sorry for myself this morning and got out of bed moaning like I had a man cold, which he never does by the way, and I normally don't either but I feel like I got beat up. And he slept through it all! I had to feed the animals and myself and let the dog out and everything with my COVID ass hacking and aching.
Now I'm normally not one to suffer in passive aggressive silence, and I could have just woken him up, but I was feeling all sorry for myself and was miffed that he didn't hear me moaning and leap out of bed to get me something to eat and take care of the pets himself. (He should be venting about me, but at least I slept most of the day and didn't ask for anything)

Your DH would have a field day with me. I eat a boiled egg every morning. I buy extra-large, 18 egg cartons. I don't even look at the price, I'm going to buy them regardless. I need the protein.

Wow bitching about $5 for 18 eggs? Send him down under and he'll have something to moan about. I happily pay $9.00 a dozen because the farm they come from only has 200 hens free-ranging per hectare. Cheap eggs usually means lower welfare for the birds unless you get them straight from the farm. As for annoying husbands? Mine has been on holidays for 3 weeks and getting underfoot. Just when I thought he couldn't get any more irritating, he got covid and turned into a complete baby, lol. Now I have to do all the Christmas prep myself (inside and outside), for a celebration that might not go ahead if I get it too!

D/H just drove 10 hours one way to attend a college sporting event. He was planning on staying 3 days. I was joyous since I am on a break from work and he would be gone, house would stay clean and all. Before he left I asked if he needed tickets or some kind of confirmation, especially so close to the holidays and many campuses are closed. He said he was sure it was happening. Okay.
Bet you see where this is going. He gets there and no event, university is closed. Still has two prepaid non-refundable hotel days to use. Encouraged him to stay in the area and enjoy the change of scenery. Nope, I think he was too upset with himself to enjoy the area so he drove 10 hours back home. He tried to get the hotel reservation refunded but will see. Hope he learned something from this and not be "it was at the same time last year so will be the same this year", and in the future will confirm things instead of assume.

I agree! They’re going to get eaten, and it’s tough to cook or bake without them. Maybe I should write the price per egg on them. That way when he makes himself scrambled eggs or eggs and hash on the weekends, he can use a few less than 4-5 in one meal. Ha. I also bought $20 worth of boneless, skinless chicken breast and thighs— yes, I do admit that was a bit of a “storm panic” purchase, because it turns out we have some in the freezer. But I can freeze it, and it will eventually get eaten. Yet somehow not looking at the freezer inventory list and buying more when we already had some was a major sin. (like I said, I’d *love* to see him shop and cook the meals for a while, but I don’t want to live on mac and cheese and hot dogs, lol) whipea, I’m sorry you didn’t get to enjoy having the house to yourself! That sounds like something my DH would do- get so mad at himself for the mistake that he couldn’t just make the best of it.

Costco was completely out of eggs last night so I bought an 18 pack at the supermarket for $6.99. if DH even dares open his mouth, he will be cooking all of Christmas dinner.

Our family get together for Christmas has changed this year. We are getting together on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas day. My DH asked if it was for just the meal or meal and gift exchange. My tongue was bleeding from biting back a sarcastic reply.

I'll validate all of you. My DH hasn't done anything to piss me off this week ... yet. We joke about the growth mindset here. I haven't whacked him in the head with a frying pan ... yet. Still time to get there, though! Hahaha. After 26 years of marriage, it's the little things.
Mine doesn't have any idea of the mental bandwidth it takes to be responsible for what everyone eats all the time. Most men don't have any idea. It's exhausting. Even with both kids out of the house, it's a lot, and at the holidays when everyone comes back it's like a slap in the face. Our grocery bill was enormous this week and took a lot of time and effort to plan - and will take even more time and effort to get all cooked -so I don't want to hear about what it cost!

I could vent as well....
My whole family has been begging for a dog for years and I have been the holdout. They have always insisted that they would help with the dog and everything that goes with it. Well, I had a moment of weakness/insanity/impulsivity on Monday when I saw a Facebook ad from a friend saying that her friend had puppies for sale at a much discounted price. Anyway, we ended up getting the puppy. We were totally not prepared. House isn't puppy proofed, no supplies, etc. So the last two days I have been trying to finish Christmas stuff as well as potty train this dog, wiping up pee, running to stores to get different dog items, etc. DH said he thought she needed a bath and guess who ended up giving her the bath while DH showered? I kind of got snippy with him. I'm just tired of the mess and that nobody else seems to care or do simple things that would help make things easier. It's also super cold (-13 without the wind chill) and snowing so running errands and going in and out of work appts has been really annoying. Most of the time I am still cold when I get to the next place. It also isn't that conducive to potty training a puppy.

It was unlocked and all he had to do was open it and get his keys. Oh, that's hilarious! I hope you're going to get a lot of mileage out of that one! Like I can do anything about the price of eggs?!? $5 for 18 large eggs at Walmart today, and he’s bitching that I spent $10 on eggs. Yep, next time HE can plan/buy/cook the food, and you can sit back and bitch at him! Tell him to go suck eggs haha. I just converted $USD to $AUD. Your $5 would be about $7 give or take, and that's not much more than I'd expect to pay for free range eggs.

We got our last two puppies in the middle of Covid when I was working from home— otherwise we never would have even able to manage. I can’t imagine doing it in. Old weather right before Christmas!!! It seemed like T the beginning, I was taking them out every hour, I swear… but it will get better! Hopefully part of the “better” will be your family members stepping up and taking part of the responsibility for it. Having a new puppy is no different than having a new baby… your DH and kids need to take some responsibility and do their part, too. 💕💕🐶 (((hugs)))
