Happy New Year! I am planning to try and get as far into the year as possible without any crafty purchasing. This will be HARD but I have so much already and do have to remind myself this is a hobby, not a career Anyone want to join me in the freezer for a bit?

I definitely need to. I'll be starting the 50 layouts before spending challenge as soon as I've finished my Dec album, that should take me through to March, but I'd really like to stay frozen a little longer if I can. More importantly though, I need to make considered purchases. I went a bit crazy in the last quarter of 2022 and now need to focus on using some of that stuff up.

I’m in the same boat. I have sooo much and could likely scrap for years without a necessary purchase. I need to use some things I have, like new things in a package before spending!

I intend to use my stuff because there is still too much. I made a page kit for January in hopes that as I work through it I can feel like I’m making progress. It’s a huge kit. Lol. So I’m not frozen. I just shouldn’t spend and am trying to be super mindful if I do.

I'm in the freezer for a while. Like Chinagirl828, I am doing the 50 page challenge but would like to go longer without buying. I do have 2 planned purchases for January and photo supplies & adhesive are always permitted. Other than that, I am planning to stay frozen until Vicki Boutin's next line is released.

I am on freeze this month. But I will be receiving some gift money and will use that.

I am also frozen for January/the 50 layouts challenge. I can buy glue, if needed.
I don't anticipate being handed any monetary gifts this month, but any and all are welcome and can be used on scrappy supplies! 😆

Maybe not frozen but I'm going to hide in the back of the fridge where it's really chilly. I'm definitely not buying anything new until I've used the things I got during the holidays and even though my brain is telling me I need new paper so I can use up some old die cuts I'm going to try to put that off for a while.
I'm absolutely fed up with the constant emails from scrapbk dot com, who I can't seem to unsub from, so I'm going to set up a rule in gmail to funnel those out of my inbox. Emailing me twice a day is a surefire way to make me stop looking at your emails at all and if there's a sale every day I'm going to put off shopping for a couple more weeks (which then stretches into months). Every day I hate them a little bit more.

I've decided to not buy anything online this year. I stocked up on page protectors in December. I am allowing myself to buy in person because I will only get to a real scrapbook store 2 times this year and possibly a Tuesday morning. I like the idea of a rule in gmail to throw all the online retailer emails so I just don't see them anymore.

I have 3 Ali Subscriptions. For the scrapbook subscription, I have one more before I can cancel. 2 more story kits before I can cancel, and 2 more SBTM kits before I can cancel. After all of those are done, I'm canceling everything. I'm also trying to not buy any other supplies other than adhesive and cardstock. My booty needs to get in the freezer and stay there!

I'm doing the 50 layout challenge and beyond that - like Chinagirl828 said, I want to really make considered purchases rather than just 'oh shiny' or 'on sale'. I'm exempting photo prints, adhesive, albums/page protectors, and white cardstock because they are the backbone of scrapping. I did get a GC for Christmas and I'm hoping to limit scrappy shopping to that this year.

I like the idea of a rule in gmail to throw all the online retailer emails so I just don't see them anymore. I finally managed to unsubscribe to the ones that were overwhelming me (I think) but for a while I created a rule so that I could still get to coupon codes if I was shopping somewhere and wanted to find an email-only code. It worked so well that I never actually shopped at those places because I didn't see their emails and so I never needed the codes! (and I use Honey for most codes anyway).

Yesterday was one week without buying any scrappy supplies. I truly need to be frozen, I am literally running out of room. Like linda, I even need to say no to the thrift store/"hey do you want this free thing" scrappy items. I do have my birthday coming up and I usually go to the scrap store and treat myself to a little shopping spree, but I think instead I will ask for a gift card, which will delay the spending a little and maybe I can wait for some new releases and then be able to splurge. My plan is in that time to shop my supplies.

I’m in, but frosty! I have two sub kits, and am canceling one after my commitment is up this month. Plus, I’m allowing myself two modest purchases (one to use the discount code and free shipping with the kit I’ll be canceling and the other to get on-sale addons for the other kit). I’m definitely in for January, but would like to make it until the next local-ish in-person convention (which I think is in April). I’d like to make 50 pages by then too.

I was comfortably frozen until I saw a sneak peak of Pinkfresh’s new spring collection. I already know I won’t be able to resist it. I can easily pass on all the other spring releases, though.

I am in too but also very frosty. I have only one sub and had planned to cancel it for this year but decided not to for the foreseeable future. Mostly, I just have way too much stuff and not enough room. I need to be more mindful about what I buy and actually start using some of it too. My first real task is to clean up my space....now to actually do it....

Count me in, excluding items needed for organization and adhesive. I'm trying to get my supplies better organized so I don't buy things I already have because I can't find them.
Updated 1/23/2023: Well it's only the 23rd, and I've already fallen out of the freezer.....found some great Christmas papers - only 10 of them, and 2 packages of coordinating ephemera, so only about $25 total. I think it was the 10% off scrapbook.com coupon that pushed me over the edge combined with not being able to find coordinating patterned paper for the page I was working on. Back in the freezer now.

I have plenty of stash, but I find it hard to freeze completely. I am definitely going to chill though and be very mindful of what I purchase. This year I will continue to track what I use vs. what I buy and make sure that I'm using more than I purchase.

This past year, I've been rebuilding my stash from almost zero, which means that I have been spending wayyyyy more than I want to. But now I'm at the point where my stash is getting reasonably workable for making the projects I want to make, so it is definitely time for me to chill out on buying.
For the past couple of weeks, I have been mostly but not totally frozen, so I guess that means I am joining Joblackford in the chilly depths of the fridge.
I've been climbing out of the freezer when I am crafting along and I hit a brick wall because I've come across something I really and truly needed to proceed, but I didn't have that thing stashed already. (The items in this category are mostly reinkers for my ink pads, and in some cases, colors of ink that I don't have).
And I climbed out of the freezer again last week when Katie Pertiet put a couple of her truly amazingly beautiful digital kits on sale for $1.99 each. And I will probably give in and do the same later this week if she has another "Thrifty Thursday" sale that includes items I'd be likely to use multiple times.
And I'm definitely going to have to spend some money on photo printing.
And I'm low on white cardstock, and trying to avoid using it unless I absolutely need it, but I will have to resupply eventually.
And I want to do SBCFest 2023 in March. I'm mostly going to try to do it from stash, but looking at the supply bundles they have posted, I can see that I will not be able to totally do it from stash. I don't own many dies, and the few I do own don't look like they would work for those projects. So I'm trying to figure out which of the dies in the bundles would be a good long-term investment for me given the other, non-SBCFest projects I want to make.
I guess all the above means I am chilled but not frozen.

I need to be frosty this year but I like too many cute things 🤷 Cute is my kryptonite! At the end of last year I dubbed 2023 would be the year of use and decided to venture back into PL to get more stuff onto paper..then I subbed to the SC documenter kit for 6 months but what can ya do 🙃 Can't win them all lol. It'll still be the year of using! Looking at what I've got lying around I won't need much for a while. That's my biggest problem, needs vs wants and impulse buying those wants. I'm good on albums -- I've got a couple empty CT ones lying around (see with the cute stuff? those imperfect sales..) and the 6x12 I'll be using for PL + a buttload (aka one of those full 60 count boxes lmao) of old BH design A's I can cut in half to fit. I've got loose rings of differing sizes and so much paper for minis if I find myself wanting to do something smaller. Despite the possibility of cute albums coming out this year I don't need them, I repeat I do not need them 😂 Good on adhesives -- I think I'm only 2 wheels into the 12 pack I got from Tape Jungle for my ATG. Glues and double sided are good too. I print at home and lost aka forgot the box of ink/paper I'd gotten for my Selphy so I ended up buying another.. and then found the original so I'm good for at least a little bit. Thinking about the next few months I'll need white cardstock but as of now the $31.30 a month for the SC sub has gotta be it 🤞🤞🤞 I have multiple near complete PF lines that I REALLY need to get to.. and then they decide to say "hey look at this spring collection coming out in a few days.." . It's like they knew I didn't want to spend anything.

I watched these videos when I had time, and then set aside 2 hours (I did need to break it up) and put on some workout (ewww) motivating music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0Dta7qcjY8www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjcbxKDDIm4www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHf-uaQhj2Y (More fabric than paper, but still...talk about trying to work in a small space) www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJslk-OUQ0Y (for paper particularly, I really liked this)

I didn’t know they were doing another sbcfest! Any good classes to look forward to? I think the lineup of teachers looks fantastic! But it is really hard to tell which classes will be of interest, because I didn't see any project pics, just the supply lists. If they have pics posted, I missed seeing them. I asked Paige Evans about her project on Instagram, and she says it is going to be a mini album. I love, love, LOVE her mini albums, so I am definitely planning to watch her class. I asked her about it because she has a 12"X12" pad on her supply list, and I scrap 6"x8", so I asked if the 6"x8" pad would work for her project, and she said it would. Hmmm. Maybe we should start a separate thread about SBCFest so we do not derail the people in the freezer. Edited to add: I just started a new thread about SBCFest here: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/136458/sbcfest-2023Important note: The SBCFest video classes are totally free, so if you can work from stash, there is no need to leave the freezer...

Facing down my first major temptation! 🙈
It's a new release candle stamp & stencil that I could and would use for Cards for Cubs donations. Yes, I already have a candle stamp but this one is more my style and easier to use, more versatile too. Could I make just as many cards for the charity without getting anything new? Of course! But I have already thought of another way to use stencil and combine it with other stencils for other projects.
If it was just the stencil I would buy it without hesitating but the stamp really adds to the look, the usefulness, and unfortunately also the price. I've added it to my wishlist for now and once I get going on the charity cards I'll see how I feel but I think I've convinced myself it would be good value.

I should really stay out of the freezer thread because, obviously, I am a bad influence. Please forgive me?

Please forgive me? hehe, I think we tend to post here because we want someone to say "sounds like a good buy, you should go for it!" In all honesty I would make far more than a dozen cards with it right after I bought it (assuming it arrived at the right time when I was in the flow) but then I'd set it aside and want something new. It's an endless cycle. I might come up with an equivalent of the 50 layouts before shopping challenge that works for me as a high volume cardmaker. Maybe a certain amount of product to use up or certain stamps I need to use or lose before I get some more.

Why not buy it, use it for what you need, and then resell it when you're finished with it? Hard to go wrong doing that, I think...Or swap stamps with another Pea who also has stamps s/he's finished using.

2 weeks without shopping!
(I feel like I am back in weight watchers where I need to check in and report my progress, lol) Feels silly, but it does actually work.
