Just watched Jennifer McGuire's Mix n Match video, and my fingers are itching to just grab some products and see what I can make with them. But I have a question: how do you store the supplies that came in that C&C box? Right now I have them still in the class bags, but if I want to use, say, an oval die from one set and a stamp from another and a stencil from a third,... Just wondering how you store these things so you remember where they are when you think of using them? Remember where they are? hahahaha.... I can't remember where anything is anymore! I keep each class in a clear zipper bag with a magnetic sheet for the dies and whatever else goes with it. I put labels on the outside - the company and the name of the dies/stamps, and I date them, like C&C Spring 2023. That seems to work for me. I've said it before - I'm not a card designer, so I usually just make them like they are in the book. Once in a blue moon I'll vary and make it a little different, but for the most part, I just make what they've shown me. I know, not very creative of me. Once I retire and have more time - I'd like to catalog all my stamps and dies by stamping them on a sheet of white paper and then putting that in a binder sorted by sentiment, floral, whatever. Some use online sources to catalog them - I might look into that too. Whatever is easiest!

My plan is to keep them in their zipper bags in the collapsible tote thingy I got for them until I finish each class or decide I'm not going to. After that, I plan to put them in my "new products to try" bin. From there, after another use, they would go into my stash as if they were anything else. This means matching dies in the same package as stamps and things like that, but not grouped into the class/project bundles specifically. I did ponder the question and deliberately decide that being used in the class wasn't enough to get it moved from the "new" bin to the stash. But I don't think keeping them grouped into the class projects or the event overall makes sense to me or promotes using them in other ways. I like the flow you have set up, going from event, to new, to stash. I think I will adopt a similar method for the event class products.

Thanks, Shakti and MDscrapaholic. I like the idea of keeping them by class for awhile b/c there is some chance I will be able to remember them that way. Do you mind sharing where you got the zipper bags and the baskets? This was probably discussed earlier in the thread, but I was not focussed on the future at that time, just happy with my sticker stadium for keeping them organized in the now.

Zipper bags are from Amazon. I've never had to wait for them, but this last time I ordered (mid-March) they're not coming until mid-April/early May. www.amazon.com/dp/B071JJZXRL?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

My zipper bags are a hodge podge. I had a set of two plastic ones from Club Scrap back in the late 90s or early aughts, one SSS mesh from buying a kit, one HA mesh for the same reason, a set of five smaller and three larger mesh from the Container Store, and four letter-size gusseted plastic ones from Staples, plus the HoneyBee and Pink&Main in the box. I didn't like the larger mesh ones at all. The rest were all fine.
My stencils and larger stamps sets are in a small gray kiva bin from the Container Store and my "new to use" bin is a medium of the same thing. I went to the Container Store looking for the floppy woven basket-y bins folks were using in the FB group but discovered foldable handled kiva bins, so that's what I got for the event bags. I figure I can fold it away between events -- assuming I finish one before the next one....

Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I've posted here. This was the 3rd card event for me. Can't wait to sign up for the fall. Like marg said, it gives me something to look forward to in my boring life! I go into these events knowing that 25 to 50% of the products aren't for me and I still consider it a great deal. A few things really surprised me this time around and I actually dug into my donation box to retrieve them. I don't craft along with the classes because I need to change the design (mostly the sentiment) to work for donation cards and I make multiples of each design. Plus I enjoy watching the chat. There are certain companies and certain teachers that could go away and I wouldn't miss them at all. I enjoyed Mama Elephant and Pink Fresh and would be excited for those 2 to return. Waffle Flower, Julie Ebersole (Ellen Hutson) and Catherine Pooler would be welcome additions. I hope the future brings more masculine cards and the sympathy cards that were substituted in the spring event. All in all, as long as they keep the format the same, I'll continue to sign up.

Anyone watching Meghann and Catherine at Creativation? Catherine has mentioned there will be a new company in the Fall event. I am wondering if it will be Picket Fence Studios? They did a live from Nicole’s booth.

EtA: I meant to say somewhere in there that if the class products leave the temporary C&C bin because I decided NOT to finish the class, they probably go into either the "purgatory" bin or the "re-home" bin rather than the new stuff to try bin. This is almost identical to what I did last time, and am doing this time around as well. Products like Altenew's will likely stay stored together permanently (or with a note that there is X,Y, and Z stored elsewhere. Products like Spellbinders (which I have already used on several additional cards) have been broken down and put away into their respective bins. GinaK's are in my bin with ALL of my new stuff <----- I hadn't card supply shopped since November and I sure made up for lost time in the last month!

I am curious. How many of us did this most recent C+C? We have me, MDscrapaholic , Ryann , pinklady , Shakti , grammadee , marg , scrappinheather , cmpeter , floridagirl , gmcwife1 , tlc59 , GiantsFan , scrapbookmomof4 , Aheartfeltcard , lindamh which is 16 of us. Who did I miss? And who is tentatively planning on doing the fall one? I did and I am definitely planning on doing the fall one. I love these events.

Thanks, MDscrapaholic. I ordered a set of those bags from Amazon. Yesterday evening, I watched the Altenew class and found it frustrating. She is very sweet, but the in-and-out of focus was giving me a headache, so I stopped watching. This morning, I tried working with their kit and while I love the embossing folder, I found it difficult to line up the stencils. So I tried to stencil first and found that you can't just overlay one with the other and come up with the floral image: you need to twist and move each stencil. Are all of their layered stencils like this? I loved playing with the TE layered stencils--so easy to use. But I don't think I will buy a set of the Altenew ones.

That's funny, grammadee . I got absolutely nowhere with the TE stencils, mostly because I found it impossible to really see the silver embossing you were supposed to use to line them up through the stencil. My plan is to try to use it with some kind of darker ink for the lines and see if that's easier. If that's successful, I'll go back and finish that class. I started crafting along with the Altenew, but eventually started having trouble aligning things. I'm a morning person, though, and that was an afternoon/evening class, so I chalked it up to being tired. Altenew definitely has layering stencils that don't require the twisting and turning and multiple alignments per stencil. Can't get links to work right now, but the stencil set is Bountiful Butterflies and I used it on cards I posted to the Q1 card sharing thread on 1/10/23.

I don't listen to directions very well, so I had gone ahead and stamped those branches with brown ink so I had no trouble seeing them through the stencil. But even without that guidence, you can line those stencils up by the edges and they will overlap perfectly. Same for the GinaK stencils. The Altenew didn't work that way at all. It is a beautiful floral image. I finally ended up just embossing a clean panel, fussy cutting it, and then popping it onto a couple of mats. white on white by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

That's beautiful grammadee ! I made two cards during that class, but had a hard time watching because of the auto focus while the camera was on. It is difficult to line up the stencils. I'll have to try it again and see if I can come up with some pointers.

Well, grammadee , thank you for testing out my strategy for me! Also, the Altenew video did settle down at some point. Christopher or one of the other instructors told her husband how to fix it. I can find the time if anyone wants to try fast-forwarding and watching the rest.

I tackled Sara Davies' class this morning -- she is a hoot! I had some trouble with the technique of picking up the color from the mat with the paper. I couldn't ever get the color to the edges of the paper. Given that the paper piecing parts were around the edge and the other one was going to a background this seemed less than ideal. I did better with the brush-on technique. The paper-piecing went better than I expected. That hold and release is very cool. But (of course!) the straight-up coloring was my fave.
I guess if I work in order, tomorrow morning will be Meghann Andrew.

As someone noted upthread, the small size of the stencil in Meghann Andrew's set is painful. I finished the first card front, but while I was very careful to mask the adjacent shapes in the stencil, I forgot to mask an adjacent shape on the card and have yellow on my pink.
If someone wants to give me a pep talk, go for it, but when she says the next cards require patience, when I thought this one did, I'm kinda ready to tap out on this.

I've only made the first card from Meghann's class, but I found all of the small stencils in the event to be a pain. I had a terrible time with Lawn Fawn's - I had to start over 3 times on one of the cards because it kept slipping (not enough room on the stencil itself to hold it in place), or because I'd accidentally brush ink off the edge onto my card front. All I can say is - mask, mask, mask. I have to really overdo it on the post-it notes and cover absolutely any place that could accidentally get ink - your entire card front that is not covered by the stencil, and any place on the stencil itself that you don't want to ink on. I can't ever assume that I'll be careful, I have to make it foolproof.

Great deal for those who like the kit. $85! and that's US dollars, too, so about $1 million Canadian lol (okay, more like $115). That's awesome. Gina K's bundle that we used is retailing for $44.95 USD. Still a good deal, too.

I was using tape like she did in the video and therefore being stingy; I'll try switching to post-its.
I know, I know, I'm supposed to use colors I have and colors that make me happy. Meghann keeps referring to this "citrine" ink as a "dirty yellow". It looks chartreuse to me, but I tried a yellow (Altenew Warm Sun or something like that) on the first card and did not love. I have SSS Citrine, but it's also just yellow. I don't see anything "dirty" about it...
