I was using tape like she did in the video and therefore being stingy; I'll try switching to post-its. I know, I know, I'm supposed to use colors I have and colors that make me happy. Meghann keeps referring to this "citrine" ink as a "dirty yellow". It looks chartreuse to me, but I tried a yellow (Altenew Warm Sun or something like that) on the first card and did not love. I have SSS Citrine, but it's also just yellow. I don't see anything "dirty" about it... I'm a former interior designer, so color names/their actual colors are especially important to me. Citrine is a lighter, less green chartreuse. Not quite green, but not yellow (for sure). The Stamp Market does a Citrine Ink that is the closest I've personally seen to what I would call citrine.

I finished my third (the second one as taught) Gina K card: Do not completely love, but I have a recipient in mind whose birthday is the 4th of next month. Happy to have it done for her and to be done with the set, which I did not love working with. I never used to finish things, but now I have some crazy MUST FINISH thing going on. I have one more card each for C&9 and Pink & Main; 4 classes where I need to finish 2 cards, 2 classes where I need to do sentiments and assembly, but for all 3 cards, and 3 sad classes where I either haven't started or more or less need to restart. Plus I decided not to start Simon Hurley's or LRDS or to finish Lawn Fawn. Which was hard, now that I've decided I'm a finisher...but there's more than one way to be finished with something, right?

I never used to finish things, but now I have some crazy MUST FINISH thing going on. That is a great place to be! And yes, you get to define when "finished" is I'm in a similar phase. I made a list of all of the projects I have to finish from various events or even inspiration I've seen on Instagram or blogs and liked, and I'm checking them off one by one as they get done.

Turns out, there were four classes with one card left. I knew I couldn't find a photo of the second cupcake card from SoL and I knew I'd started it and couldn't find the pieces. I was thinking maybe I'd needed it, finished it off quickly, and sent it. Nope -- found 'em.

My last two Hero Arts: And Honey Bee: I stamped the inside sentiment on the Father's Day card on the wrong side -- the top or inside of the front. Trying to decide whether to cover with a die cut (couple dark blue stars maybe?) or rip the background and sentiment strip off and add them to a new card base. This is why I'm a morning crafter. Once it's past noon and I do something completely boneheaded like that, it's usually time to pivot to something easier, like groceries.

I really had a hard time lining up that fence for the Hero Arts card - kinda gave up on that one. The owls... I love those!

I really had a hard time lining up that fence for the Hero Arts card Lining up the die with the stamped image and the crease of the card and hanging it off the cutting plate and all that? Yes, it was a major PITA. I mis-cut or mis-somthinged the one I did in class; I don't remember how. But I don't remember the first one as being as difficult as it seemed today for some reason. Thanks!

Finished finished the Crafter's Companion cards: I've decided that these dies are sized for EU paper really bugs me. I went into the C&CD bin intended to pick the Spellbinders class back up, but the three mostly done classes were irking me. I think I'm going to try to finish those today. Maybe find some time for some adulting, too. Spellbinders will be my Independence Day holiday treat.

Thank you! There's a teal "oopsy" under the "HELLO"...
I really like the set, but don't love the cards they designed. I'm looking forward to playing with it some more.
But I really popped back in to say O! M! G! I finally ordered and just received the Honey Bee Adventure Awaits paper pad like the papers in our kit and it is even more fabulous than I had anticipated!

Back when this event happened live, I was completely convinced I would never do a shaker wedding card. Now that I am actually completing the class, the idea of one is kind of growing on me. Unfortunately, it looks like the acetate in my kit has gotten irreparably marred in storage for four months. I've tried cleaning it, but it still has flaws big enough to make shadows.
I am debating the infamous run to Michael's to get new acetate vs. completing the card without the shaker element. I think the shaker thing might actually be growing on me a little; otherwise, it would be a no-brainer to complete the card without it rather than buying more acetate.

Sometimes for a different look you can use vellum or tulle instead the acetate. If you have some tulle might be a nice touch for a wedding card.

Well, I got all the die cuts assembled and all that, then set it aside and worked on card #3 for that class, which I finished: Took a break. Remembered I put the last of our paper in the printer yesterday and started a cart at OfficeSupply.com. Thinner, newer foam tape and a pack of SB acetate sheets jumped into my cart to help get free shipping. The sentiment for this card is inside the shaker window, so I'm not sure the vellum I have in the house would have been transparent enough anyway. But thank you fro the ideas!

Finally watched the Brutus Monroe class. I finished the first card, except for the sentiment. Made good progress on the second, except for the sentiment. By the third one I was kind of fried. He seemed disorganized and I didn't like all the skipping around between stamping, embossing and stenciling. But I came to see how others did with that class and I don't see any completed cards from it in the thread, unless I missed some?
Also, while I have basic embossing powders -- gold, silver, clear, white -- I don't have anything glittery or sparkly and see-through or whatever his criteria were. I have opalescent, but I don't think that's all that close. For the sentiment for the first card, I figure it doesn't matter all that much, but for the final card where you emboss the black squares, it didn't seem worthwhile to even bother unless you had something very close to what he used.

I turned it off after a few minutes. This set wasn’t for me from the get-go, but I did the die cutting and prep, and planned to take the class anyhow. Turned on the class, was turned off by the frazzled-ness, and just thought “why do I feel the need to participate if I’m not enjoying myself.” So I went and did something else/worked on a different project instead.

Thanks for the reply, MichyM . If I'm remembering correctly, wasn't he subbed in last minute as the instructor? I seem to have some dim recollection, maybe from the meet 'n' greet, of him saying the original instructor had moved on. I don't know how much that was responsible for the frazzle. The sets seemed fine. I like that (more forgiving) kind of stencil set. I'm thinking that there are probably some interesting things that could be done with the SB ovals and that easel die. I'm very irked that there aren't good illustrations/instructions of how to fold and assemble the easel mechanism on/in the packaging (or even in the book). It seems ludicrous to expect me to have to keep watching the video for a refresher....or to try to find a video demo if you paid good money for the set on BM.com or the like! I now have P&M glitter embossing powder in a SB.C cart, but maybe I'll just let the third card go...though I could also see rejiggering it as an A2 with 6 squares instead of 4. Are there also folks who skipped his class for other reasons? Anyone still sore over the kerfuffle I read about on another thread or anything like that?

So I have some time this morning and was thinking I'd try to tackle some of this. Taylored Expressions and Altenew were two classes I started and got very frustrated with. I have one Brutus Monroe card to finish. I was going to do the Simon Hurley class at all, but MDscrapaholic's cards make me reconsider. I find myself utterly uninspired by the TE cards and I only noticed that the only completed cards from that class I see posted here are pinklady's. I have now collected a couple of CiQ sets and they are both bold geometrics. I don't hate florals, but the daintiness of these florals I'm finding just kind of twee. Am I just late to this conclusion? Is that why I'm not seeing other card photos?

Perservered and finished the first TE card which I had started. Used a more generic sentiment -- could become a birthday card, could be donated. Had a much easier time with the stencil, probably due in part to not having my contact lenses in so that I can focus with my face 6" away from the cardstock. Looking at the instructions for the next two -- with the two panels connected and the stamping, embossing, and stenciling on two colors of yardstick at the same time -- ugh! Maybe since I have the embossing stuff out and bought some glitter embossing powder I'll finish Brutus Monroe instead.

Well, thank you grammadee. I decided that having all these Altenew sticky mats (extra grippy on my glass mat for stenciling, regular tack on my Stamparatus), I didn't need to adhere these twin panels to a third piece of card stock. Unfortunately, in my eagerness to find out just how clever an idea this was, I forgot to use either of my powder tools. And the sticky mat plus cling stamp combo was not ideal. And I don't love the gold embossing powder that I have. But the show must go on!

My plan for today includes finishing the two Brutus Monroe cards. That will leave restarting/completing the Altenew class and Simon Hurley. I wasn't going to engage with SH's class at all, but someone posted gorgeous cards upthread -- MDscrapaholic , I think, but I'm too lazy to scroll back. Anyway, this whole weekend IS close to finished, but I'm still not sure it'll be done when the September one rolls around.
So, another March C&CD class completed. I'm not sure how I'm feeling about these products. The florals are a little different from others I have, but not in a "gotta have it" kind of way, at least for me. I don't really like the sentiments. The easel seemed cool, but I'm realizing how many fun folds there are out there that produce similar wow factors with less fuss. And the stories about the way the company has treated at least one customer, while professing to be "all about caring", are really sticking in my craw, I find.

Does anyone here also post cards in the FB group for the event? I haven't been and I'm trying to decide if I feel bad enough about it to start. I did try the Simon Hurley class last weekend and I wasn't happy with it. I wasn't getting nearly as good results with the stamps as MichyM 's cards upthread. Even Simon's stamping looked a little blotchy like mine did at first. Repeated stamping got a better image, but lost all subtlety of the shaded inking. I finally did check the FB ghaallery and noticed most of the results posted were like that -- either blotchy or monotone. I think I'm giving up again. I figured I wasn't planning to do the projects, decided to give them a try for the sake of completeness, but I don't love the style enough to put any more effort into getting the products to work well enough for me to be happy with the results. That leaves only delving back into Altenew and all the classes from this event are done.
