You know that Congressman who said they weren’t going to fix this? Well they should put him in a room and make him listen to this 911 tape over and over and over again. Just a comment about Gov Lee ... He and his wife were long time friends and we're supposed to host dinner in their home Monday night with substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, who was killed in the Christian school shooting. Hitting close to home and can't bother to appear at the vigil?!?! Absent from the vigil was Tennessee’s Republican governor, Bill Lee, who has avoided public appearances this week and has not proposed any possible steps his administration might take in response to the shooting. Lee has been an advocate for less restrictive gun laws along with greater school security, and he once intimated that prayer could protect the state from school shootings and other things. apnews.com/article/tennessee-school-shooting-protest-e1421ec12e8eb28851de7627d9e4e9af

I saw it. I did not think it offensive. Seems prayers are not working!! They should give God a hand in making things right. To save our kids!! Whoopi Goldberg earlier this week wore a sweatshirt promoting gun safety laws during an appearance on The View, and it’s created an uproar in right-wing circles. The sweatshirt has “thoughts & prayers” crossed out above a call for “policy & change.” “Thoughts and prayers,” the phrase commonly used in the aftermath of tragic incidents by public officials, has become symbol of inaction amid the ongoing gun violence epidemic, according to a CNN report that says the expression has become a “a “cynical meme.” *** An article published in the The Conservative Brief under the headline “Whoopi Goldberg Wears Anti-Christian Prayer Shirt Day After Nashville Massacre” said “The mocking of Christian prayer on the day after a Christian school was attacked, and people inside of it slaughtered, is shameful even for her.” www.rawstory.com/pure-evil-conservatives-lose-it-over-whoopi-goldbergs-shirt/

President Biden told McCarthy to bring the Republicans version of a budget. That seems fair. But yet McCarthy acts dumb. Typical behavior these days by the right.

Apparently McCarthy can’t read. The letter is very clear what President Biden is looking for at any meeting.

On another note about TFG/Kushner family... Jared Kushner's private equity firm has received hundreds of millions of dollars from wealth firms in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, The New York Times reported. "The infusion of money from interests in the two rival Persian Gulf monarchies reflects the continued efforts by Mr. Trump and his aides and allies to profit from the close ties they built to the Arab world during his presidency and the desire of leaders in the region to remain on good terms with Mr. Kushner as his father-in-law seeks the presidency again," The Times report states. "The Emiratis invested more than $200 million with Mr. Kushner's firm, Affinity Partners, two people told about the transactions said. The U.A.E.'s embassy in Washington declined to comment. A Qatari entity invested a similar sum, according to two people with knowledge of that deal. A spokesman for the Qatari embassy in Washington declined to comment." As The Times points out, the Emirati government has forged a close relationship with Kushner due to his time in the Trump administration. During the Trump presidency, a Qatar-linked company helped bail out a debt-ridden tower in midtown Manhattan owned by the Kushner family. www.rawstory.com/kushner-united-arab-emirates/

Once again, I’m all for the environment but this is just plain dumb.
I have seen the damage these wildfires can do even with the retardant it’s devastating but without it a lot more damage would be done meaning more homes burn and potentially more people will lose their lives. In the 2017 fire that swept through Sonoma and Napa counties 40 people died and the fire destroyed roughly 8,000 homes and wiped out entire neighborhoods. I can’t even imagine the damage that would have been done without the retardant.

The Forest Service has been using pink fire retardant since at least the 1960’s or a version of it.
Some of the guys I went to school with back in the dark ages would work for the CDF fighting fires in the summer. They called it pink snot. Every time I see the planes dropping that fire retardant I think of pink snot.
For at least 50 years a version of that fire retardant has been used so why now did this group decide to sue?

I never realized it was SO pink.. Why did they sue? Because they could!! Anything to stir up trouble.. I think this is the same lawsuit. The group that is suing is a coalition of current and former employees of the Forest Service. I don't think they are trying to cause trouble. They're concerned about the fire retardant getting into water sources - creeks, rivers etc. The fire retardant is basically fertilizer with red dye and potentially harmful to animals if they drink contaminated water. They're suing under the clean water act. I don't think it's a frivolous suit, I think it's reasonable to consider the potential dangers of using it. They're asking the Forest Service to focus on ground level efforts. www.reuters.com/legal/litigation/wildfire-retardants-illegally-poisoning-streams-lawsuit-2022-10-12/there's more here. The group also claims that fire retardant is only effective under specific conditions - cool mornings, level terrain with sparse vegetation. And the answer to why now? The group has been fighting this since the early 2000's, this is not their first attempt. revirdsuba99 this isn't directed at you, but sometimes it's helpful to look deeper into something and read more than just a tweet. www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-03-29/u-s-forest-service-defends-use-of-pink-wildfire-retardant

So let see if I understand what this guy is trying to say.
The Manhattan DA waited until there was a natural disaster to indict trump so at the same time President Biden could visit the devastated area? Or did the fool think the only reason President Biden went to Mississippi was to “paint a picture” of a contrast between President Biden and trump? And whatever this guy is claiming it’s calculated. So is he implying that President Biden only went to Mississippi to get in a dig at trump?
It seems to me President Biden has been racking up the frequent flyer miles lately with all the disaster zones in the United States that he has visited. So I’m not seeing how this calculated move on his part. He was just doing his job.

Meanwhile in Wisconsin the Republicans used the emergency alert system that pops up on the tv in case of an emergency for a political ad.
Seriously there should be a law against that.

How would they even get access to that? It’s not like just anyone can post what they want. No matter my stance in the issue I would be ticked especially if there was weather alerts in the area at the time.
