I told dh that if I only did C&C card events, spring and fall, I could cut back my random shopping throughout the year and still have plenty of fun, new stuff. These events are definitely worth the money! Haha I told my husband the same thing. I don't know how I'll be able to miss another C&CD event considering how much we get in a box! So worth it. I also told my husband that since he does CrossFit, which is super expensive, I'll just stay out of shape but spend the same amount on these events. That's fair lol. I can go for walks, those are free. I'm sorry for those in the group that are going through a hard time right now - I truly hope that this event brings you some distraction and comfort. It sounds like everyone is trying to make the best of it. I'm trying to break my C&CD curse with this event - something in the past has always happened to interrupt it. Fingers crossed this coming weekend is different! The PF event has already been interrupted for me, though I've finished the homework for about 5 classes so far, it hasn't been too bad - I'm focusing on doing the Saturday and Sunday homework since I'm working Thursday and Friday. Then I'll do the Thursday and Friday night homework, just in case I won't be too tired to attend those. Did anyone else think that the way Taylor from Taylored Expressions explains cutting from the short end of the Cookie Monster card stock wasn't completely logical last night? I would have done the exact opposite of what she said, so I'm glad she explained it.

I just looked at the dimensions (thank goodness she listed those) and went from there.

Oh I am watching the Meet and Greet videos and some of the cards look much prettier in the video.
I wasn't really excited about the Crafter's Companion class but now I am. The cards look so pretty and sparkly with those gilding flakes.
And I wasn't that excited about Simon Hurley's class but I really am excited now after he demoed the pastes.

Did you see where Sara Davies said to get bigger pots to put the flakes in? She said you need four. They stuffed the flakes in those jars and they will pop out when you open the jar.

After watching the meet and greets I'm getting excited for the event. I still kind of ho hum with most of the classes, but looking forward to participating. I just tend to make critter-y Lawn Fawn or MFT fun cards. I really don't make heartfelt, love you, floraly cards. MDscrapaholic - I've used gilding flakes. Yes, transfer them to Gladware type containers. The flakes will explode and won't fit in the "pot" they came in.

I also want to make that beautiful butterfly die-cut card she showed with the purple/blue and gold wings, so pretty! I also liked the adhesive strip cards she showed.
Good thing I have lots of little glass jars. I'll make sure to put the extra gilding flakes there. I think I'll wait for her class next week before I open the gilding flakes though.

I just watched Sara’s meet n greet. I love her accent, I could listen to her all day! Wow, the book doesn’t even begin to show how shiny and rich those cards really are. I hope she has enough time to get thru all that. Oh man I need some pink flakes.
I need to make a run to dollar tree to get some containers and Joann’s for a glue pen. 😁

Well I caved this morning and ordered the Spectrum Noir pink set of gilding flakes as well as the blue and purple set from Simon Says Stamp. They have a free shipping code FRSHP in case anyone else is interested.

I have some flakes already. I put some in a iris photo holding container, this way I can almost put my whole card front in it and rub the flakes on it. Definitely contain your flakes. They go everywhere, especially with a fan and a/c on.

I don’t really notice it anymore so I would have had flakes all over for sure!

Has anyone had trouble with stamping the Brutus Monroe floral stamp? I'm wondering if mine is defective. The side you ink feels very smooth and I can't get a good impression with my stamp press.
I checked the FB group and a few others had issues too. Several people mentioned they put their stamp press on the floor and stood on it -- yikes! Not doing that. I've tried different paper and inks. Thanks for any tips.

It would probably work, but to me, doesn’t make a defective stamp better. 🤷🏼♀️

I just wondered since I have several large floral stamps and they all have much more texture on the inking side. Update: I finally got it to stamp. Definitely trickier than others I've used. Thanks for the help!

Heads up! There have been a few HW corrections. Check the password protected page (email of 9/22). Picket Fence, Lawn Fawn, Scrapbook.com, GinaK. And now one for Honey Bee (not listed yet in the updates, but Kelly K confirmed it on a post today.)
I'm finally done with my HW. Yay!

Is everyone ready for tomorrow! I was jealous that MDscrapaholic had tomorrow and Friday off work so I caved and put in the request for the same and it was approved! I also have Monday off to recover so next week at work is going to be brutal. I just printed the schedule to determine if I can start at 7am on the west coast. I don't think working with gilding flakes at 7am is a good thing so I'm probably going to do that one in lieu of the Brutus Monroe class on Saturday night. Also, my order of additional flakes from Simon says stamp will get here Friday. Don't forget to post pictures. I can't wait to see everyones cards! And just have fun!

I'm ready, too! I won't be starting at 7 am, though. Last event I waited to start and I enjoyed the event so much more than previous times. There wasn't the pressure and the need (in my mind) to keep up. And with 30 minutes between classes I think I'll still be done close to the end of the day.

Today is my Friday at work! I am so glad for this break - I have been struggling to learn Google analytics 4 at work and my brain is just about mush. I don’t know why they had to mess with a good thing (UA) but they did. I haven’t done all the homework but hope to catch up some tonight. I’m worried about burnout with doing two of these events back to back. I guess I will see how it goes. No stress! LOL Glad you got more days off pinklady! We need a better work/life balance but I know work doesn’t always understand that. For me also, the work will be waiting for me on Tuesday. Covid is going around the office. They just made us come back to the office Sept 5th and people getting sick like you would not believe. Here’s to a great weekend!

Have a fun, creative day everyone! I’ll be doing more watching than creating, but I think I’ve got my back to the point that I can do one class a day, if I break it up over the course of the day. Today will be the Stamps of Life class. I’ll also be watching the openings and closings. Not quite what I had in mind, but I’m getting much better at just taking one day at a time. Amazing the lessons we learn when our good health deserts us for a while!
Edited after I woke up. Today is Taylored Expressions, not Stamps of Life! Blame all the pain meds. I’ve been a little wonky the past month or so!

I haven’t done any homework so I’ll be watching and cleaning my disaster of a room today. Hopefully I can do a couple of cards over the course of the event.

I'm watching Sara do the gilded flakes - while working on the Brutus Monroe homework. His pumpkin stamp is gorgeous! marie , I had a problem stamping mine too, and just put the stamp on my block, inked it, put the paper on top and rubbed gently. Worked perfectly every time! Even with the thicker watercolor paper. I made extras because I know this one I will use over and over again. Enjoying what I'm seeing so far, but dang. So many newbies asking questions in the chat...

Oh the chat is sooooo distracting. I make the video full screen so I don't have to see the comments. Some of them will just push me over the edge.
