This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page/project when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge.

It seems that Spring might really be coming. We had near 80 degrees here today. I hope you are all experiencing some spring like weather.

Happy May, Pokeys! Thanks for setting this up, nylene. Hope you had a wonderful family birthday party. Beautiful weather here the last few days. Grass is greening up, and dh is itching to get started on the garden. I think spring may really be here!

Thanks for setting us up nylene! The weather has been gorgeous here. Lows in the upper 40's overnight and highs in the 60s. Lots of sunshine and breezy days. I hope you all have a great day!

I am starting to prep for the LSS crop this upcoming weekend. I have a list of what I want to be doing there, need to organize what I will be taking. Think I will bring the containers up from the basement today. Maybe sort through my dies. This is always the hard part b/c I never make scrappy decisions until the moment I am making the page or card, so I always want to keep all my options open. But it is ridiculous to haul so many things that never get touched while there. Oh, and I signed up for jeremysgirl's Walk a Mile a Day in May challenge. So I need to get outside and walk for at least 20 minutes. Won't get anywhere near a mile, but should be able to circle the yard (about a quarter mile) in that time. As the spring/summer goes on, I will work up to 4 laps per day.

Hi Pokeys! We're home and exhausted. It wasn't a vacation: it was a trip, an adventure, a tour, an expedition, a trek. Our flight last night was delayed so we crawled into bed at 3:45 AM! Then I woke up with a killer migraine at 8:00 - sick, but counting my blessings that it wasn't DURING the trip! I medicated and drank water then went back to sleep until 11AM. Got up for more drugs and a swig of coffee to avoid a caffeine headache on top, and returned to bed until 2:30! I'm now feeling a little more functional, but I still think unpacking will not happen today much. We had in-suite laundry in our villa, so most of our stuff is clean anyways. And we don't need shorts here anyways DS2 got sick 3 days into our trip. He was SUCH a trouper and kept up despite it. I kept expecting the rest of us to get sick, but we held off until DH got it 3 days ago - he is super sick now and I'm glad we don't have more trip to do! But other than that, most of the trip was glorious. Really great weather overall and many thousands of photos for me to sort through! It's just too much to process. We will never try to do 8 days of theme parks day after day again. But considering 20+ km walking every day (12.5 miles) I have definitely gained 5 lbs. Boy was the food good. And boy was life expensive! It was fun pretending to be rich It's gonna be hard to come back to real life. One thing I arrived home to was my order from Pretty Little Studios. I splurged and was really looking forward to it... but she shipped UPS... and they charge a $41 BROKERAGE charge plus tax on the brokerage charge (for a $12 tax/customs bill) so I am paying an extra 50% on my order and I'm kinda ANGRY about that! But what am I supposed to do? Send it back to sender and ask for a refund? I'd lose my shipping but that would only be ~$20... the exorbitant cost of these supplies will forever taint how I feel about them

Oh boy kitbop I’m tired just reading about your Disney adventures! Im glad you all had a great time and sorry you are feeling sick. I can’t wait to see future layouts of this trip! If any pokeys are interested, I just listed some Basic Grey for sale on the FSOT board.

Happy May! Thanks nylene for keeping us going year after year. It's been cloudy and a little cooler and I heard rain is coming. But it has been pleasant and I like it. I ordered Paige Evans pp kit and embellishments at Joann last week and looking forward to playing. I did watch half of her class I purchased and hope to start it this week. Waving hi to you gals and hope you are having a nice day.

Thanks for the heads up on the BG, scrappyrabbit, but I still have half a large drawer of it from when I subscribed to their monthly kits. Just used some if it the other day... so versatile... Which Paige Evans collection did you order, kellyr21 ? We got some Blooming Wild in our Crop & Create kit, and it is really fun. I want to try one of her LO's from C&C this next weekend. Glad you all got home safely, kitbop , and I hope the headache was *just* from exhaustion and not your ds/dh's bug. Time at the parks is definitely exhausting, and we always tried to keep a day in the middle &/or at the end just to chill at the time share. Can't wait to see your pages!

Good Tuesday morning, Pokeys! I have a bunch of errands to catch up on in town and it is "10% Tuesday" at the grocery store, so I will do those today. Hoping to fit in my walk while there: the plan is to walk from the post office to dd's soon-to-be home. Not sure of the distance, but it will take me at least 20-30 minutes. I am slowly accumulating what I plan to take to the weekend LSS crop. Before I pack up though I want to put together my Donna challenge page, so will set up a virtual crop here tomorrow morning. justjac did you decide to participate in this month's LOAD? I let my membership laps b/c I was not really making good use of it, so I can't see the prompts any more, but your Muppet stamps should get some good use I think? Okay. Gotta run...

kitbop , I think you are right that vacations are not usually a vacation; more of an adventure, a trip and a trek. I hope your headache goes away and that DS and DH will be back to perfect health soon. I love WDW and hope to see lots of photos of it when you start scrapping. Glad you got home safely. So sorry that your scrapbook supplies turned out to be so expensive. grammadee , DH has a 10:15 Dr. appt tomorrow morning so I may jump on to say hello and then leave. Have a nice trip to the grocery store. I think I need to join the walk-a-mile group. I really need to get out and do some walking. There is a new walking path around the Dr. office building so I may walk that tomorrow while they do DH's surgery. kellyr21 , I love Paige's papers and cut files. I look forward to seeing what you do with them. It's getting warm here, but will drop back to the 60's at the end of the week. scrappyrabbit , did you get the nursery all set up? I need to run, but will come back later.

nylene not quite. The baby will stay in our room for a year, and we set up the dresser and got the rocking chair from my cousin's house. But we haven't ordered the crib yet. We did order a new shelf to put above the dresser from Pottery Barn, but it came damaged so now I am waiting on the replacement. I am not feeling hurried, there is plenty of time. The main thing was we needed to get the items out of our garage so we could park our car! In the next few weeks, I plan on consolidating my scrap room/office/spare bedroom closet so that I can fit more baby things in there. I want to keep our spare room functional for my mom to visit and for us to continue to work from home in there after the baby arrives, so I don't mind having the baby in our room for a year. We have a two-bedroom condo, and the spare room is tiny, but thankfully we have a lot of storage.

So exciting! nylene - look what I made!!! I'm insanely excited about it - it's not perfect and was super complicated (for me) but I love it

Happy Tuesday! Waving hi to you all! I have several M's classes this week and my usual drawing classes. Last week, my drawing teacher was on vacation so it will be nice to get back to drawing this week. grammadee- I got Paige's "Bloom Wild" project 12x12 pad and an ephemera package. I hope it all comes this week. I ordered from Joann. Yesterday, I was on Scrapbook dot com and ordered Heidi's stencil set and I got a free 6x8 pad from Simple Stories. Looks like I am gonna have lots of new supplies to play with. justjac- Wow! Your cape turned out great!!!! I hope you enjoy wearing it in your show. nylene- We are cooling down again out here. I hope the sun keeps coming to your area.

Linda , that is amazing! It's hard to cut and make small paper piecings but you have done a fabulous job! I can't wait to see the page you use it on. I will warn you, that paper piecing becomes addictive. Pat yourself on the back from me! scrappyrabbit , we often had a baby in the bedroom with us. I slept better if I could hear them making little noises in the night. I am excited for you. We have a great-granddaughter due this month and I will be eager to get my hands on her. Babies are so precious! How I miss having little ones around. I know I don't have the stamina for it, but those were such happy years. grammadee , if they decide on radiation rather than surgery on DH tomorrow I will be home early enough to hop on the chat. This cancer is close to the eye again so they are still making decisions. The sun can do so much damage. kellyr21, oh, it sounds like you have a lot of pretties to play with this week. Have fun.

.. but she shipped UPS... and they charge a $41 BROKERAGE charge plus tax on the brokerage charge (for a $12 tax/customs bill) Is this a solely a UPS thing? We use UPS at work and sometimes get complaints from customers about the brokerage and taxes. Is it the same thing with USPS and Fedex? I've always been under the impression it was a hit or miss kind of game, as to whether or not your package gets "picked for extra fun prizes" or not. If it's strictly UPS I may say something at work. I'm sorry you had sickness on vacation. No fun, but I can't wait to see your pages and the wonderful titles and stories you are going to come up with lol! Wow Linda , that's amazing! I do not like paper piecing. It's so tedious, great job on that! We have a great-granddaughter due this month and I will be eager to get my hands on her. Babies are so precious! How I miss having little ones around. A great-great grandbaby is coming? Oh my how exciting, and I agree whole heartedly about little ones, I miss tiny Rudy all the time. It's so strange how every phase of kids "seems" harder than the season before, at least to me. Current Rudy is wild and rambunctious - too much so for this old lady. Little Rudy was also hard to keep up with, but I conveniently forget that lol. Congratulations nylene ! I'll be scrapping with my mom and niece this Saturday online. An in person crop sounds fun grammadee but also a lot packing and unpacking for very little that I manage to get done. I hope you and justjac have an awesome, productive crop. kellyr21 I saw a couple of interesting classes at Michaels, but I guess their classes are all one time events so aren't available later and none of the times worked for me. Also, I really, really don't need to be taking more classes when I'm sitting on a ton already that I haven't started lol. I can't wait to see what you make. scrappyrabbit, sounds like you are making some good headway and keeping a relaxed pace about it. I don't know how many people see the for sale or trade board, but it might be worth a post on the GS board, for those who lurk without logging in or to generate more interest. Have a great hump day! Things are getting busy at work and it's looking like a long summer that I'm not looking forward to. I think it's mostly so much busyness that is bothering me more than anything. Lately it feels like life is coming at 100 mph with no breathing room. But the coffee date went well with DS1 and there was a second one and talk of a third. It's good to see him getting out again. DS2 and his GF are done done. Which honestly is for the best. I think they are finding the thing they had in common was their drug use together. They are growing apart now that they have both been clean for a fair amount of time - not counting DS2 recent short relapse. But he's back on the forward path and I'm grateful for that.

It's hard to cut and make small paper piecings but you have done a fabulous job! I can't wait to see the page you use it on Thank you I was very intimidated by ALL the pieces - planning to use it on whatever layout I end up doing about the coronation - I'll probably snag a couple of news photos and we're doing a celebratory tea (like we did for the Jubilee) so I'll have those pics also. I have another gnome ready to cut - it'll be today's project Babies are so precious! How I miss having little ones around. I know I don't have the stamina for it, but those were such happy years I miss babies also - we weren't able to have as many as we had hoped for and right now, there are no grandchildren on the horizon. This cancer is close to the eye again so they are still making decisions. prayers - I hope his appointment goes smoothly Wow Linda , that's amazing! I do not like paper piecing. It's so tedious, great job on that! Thank you so much. I used to enjoy it years ago when we used colouring book images as our starting point but I never did anything nearly this complex and I wasn't all that good at it back then. joyfulnana - sorry that it's so busy with work but I'm glad things are going well with your sons. We're headed to the city tonight to catch a movie - Return of the Jedi is on limited re-release in theatres just for a couple days this week. Our local theatre doesn't have it so we'll be driving about an hour each way but we're big Star Wars fans so...DH saw it in theatre for the original release but I only saw it a few years later at a planetarium of all places. DD16 has only ever seen it on a TV screen. DS31 and DD22 saw it two nights ago and really loved it on the big screen.

Is this a solely a UPS thing? USPS does not have a brokerage fee. Canada Border services will charge 1. the taxes and 2. an $8 fee if your package is over ~$80 (can be hit or miss, I've had $150 slip through untouched!) But that's nothing compared to UPS brokerage fees! I don't know what fedEx is like. Online cropping is the way to go in my world! I am not a person who scraps easily from a kit - I prefer having my stash at my fingertips. When I did in-person crops, I always had to pack up SO MUCH and that means UNPACKING when you get home too! Ugh. nylene - how scary to have this awful cancer just hanging around and threatening everything. I so wish they could take it out for him But congrats on the new great-grand! I am so not ready for grand-babies yet. I think I'm enjoying this in between stage...although I know I'll love and enjoy them when they get here. Linda - fabulous detail on that piece! I have some detailed die cut sets that I haven't ever assembled because I *think* I'll love putting them together and then I don't... scrappyrabbit - we enjoyed having our babies close to us for their first months. The first moved into bed with us when he was about 5 months old, and slept best close to us. The next two liked their own space but definitely slept better in our room than if we moved them out. None of them want anything to do with our room or our bed anymore, so I think there isn't truly a long-term risk to attachment parenting

nylene I hope your husbands appt goes well. How many grandkids and great grandkids do you have? Lots of babies in your family! grammadee hope you feel better! I should do more walking as well. I take Arthur out but sometimes we don’t walk for long. kitbop I think room sharing will work out just fine with our baby, like it has for a lot of families through the years! Whenever Arthur is sick, I move his bed in our room lol. I found a crib that grows as the baby grows, so from bassinet, to mini crib, to regular crib.

Linda - fabulous detail on that piece! I have some detailed die cut sets that I haven't ever assembled because I *think* I'll love putting them together and then I don't... this was a cut file and once I figured out how to arrange the layers so I got the right ones cut the right colours and now that I've got glue that works well on tiny things - it was actually kind of fun. I did another one today scrappyrabbit - we enjoyed having our babies close to us for their first months. The first moved into bed with us when he was about 5 months old, and slept best close to us. The next two liked their own space but definitely slept better in our room than if we moved them out. None of them want anything to do with our room or our bed anymore, so I think there isn't truly a long-term risk to attachment parenting mine all co-slept also - we started with a bassinet but then they ended up in bed with us. I'm not going to scare scrappyrabbit with how long they co-slept but they all did fine once they transitioned to their own rooms. Having them close certainly helped with night feedings.

Hi everyone. grammadee I hope you are feeling better. I am not doing LOAD this month although I might use some of the prompts. I decided I was just too busy for the added pressure. We only have three more rehearsals before the show. It's starting to come together. kitbop that brokerage fee is maddening. I think I've only had that happen once or twice. I can't wait to see your vacation pictures. I've never been to Disney and I don't know if I ever will. The thought of dealing with all the people and standing in line is a big deterrent. Linda I love your gnomes. I got the free ones that were mentioned on the board, but I don't know if I will actually ever cut them. Paper piecing both intimidates and occasionally annoys me. Sending hugs to gramma and nylene and their DHs. I packed up for our crop last weekend so that I will be ready for tomorrow. I bought a new tool kit to take my stuff. We'll see if it is better than my old one. It is modular so it should be easier and less heavy to get in and out of my Jeep. We are basically having summer weather yesterday and today.

grammadee - hopefully you're on the mend and can finish packing up for your weekend ((((Hugs))) and prayers to gramma and nylenejustjac - I got the free gnomes from the countdown also - hoping to cut and piece at least the rainbow ones - DD16 will like them I think. These were from the same website's freebie section. I was pretty intimidated when I opened the files and saw how many layers there were but...the hardest part was setting up the layers and the matching cardstock on my cutting mat. Doing SG's crop today and tomorrow - the weekend is a little busy but hopefully I can squeeze in some scrapping then also.

Thanks, Pokeys, for the well wishes for DH. They took 3 more biopsies yesterday and decided the best course is to wait for the path reports and then plan to irradiate them all. DH hates the radiation, but otherwise they would be taking a 3 inch circle next to his eye. The Dr. is very much aware that his eye (the good one) must be saved so he will have a bit of sight. grammadee , I didn't get back until 11:30 yesterday and was sad to see that you were ill and had to cancel the online crop. I hope you are feeling better today and that you can still have a good time with justjac this weekend. justjac , what excitement to be 3 rehearsals from the production. I wish we could all come watch you. How large is the audience? How often do they have local productions? Have a great weekend with grammadee . I didn't think I would ever see the day that we could talk and see someone on a phone or watch, so maybe someday we will have a transporter that would allow us all to join you two this weekend. Alex keeps saying he wants to invent the first transporter. LOL.Take a photo of your new tool kit. I'd love to see it. scrappyrabbit , we have 14 grands plus 5 spouses of those married, and 3 great-grands with another coming soon. We had such a great time with Eddie and Hailey last weekend. When you are the great-grands you don't get to see them as often. We should be able to see all of them at DGS's wedding in 2 weeks. Linda , your paper piecing is amazing. You are doing a great job. I didn't even think to look for other freebies on the Gnomes site. I did download the gnomes I thought I might use. That was very kind of her to offer so many free. I'll go take a look at what other cut files are there. Thanks for posting your gnomes here. Everything is lined up perfectly on each of them. That's a major accomplishment. kellyr21 , I made a quick run to the church to add to my bulletin board this morning and didn't even take a sweater!! I know it's going to turn cold again this weekend, but today, so far, is beautiful. Are you doing some walking again? I look forward to seeing your new art projects. kitbop , are you rested up from your vacation? Until I got on this site I didn't realize what exorbitant prices you Canadians often pay for scrap supplies. That is really discouraging when you have added charges that change the way you feel about the products. I look forward to your photos of Disney. I love scrapping Disney. It is my very favorite scrapping. joyfulnana , I'm sorry your summer looks so busy. Do you get any vacation time between now and fall? I'm glad for both of your DS's. Sounds like your DS2 has his head together and is doing well. Hope DS1 continues to go out and have some dates. Is Rudy counting down the days until school is out? We finish on the 26th of May, but Em and family are leaving for an Alaska Cruise and Alex will miss the last few days of school. On Tues we took a ride up through the canyon and had lunch at a little diner. We were looking at how full the dam and reservoirs are already. They are letting water out now or they would never hold when the real melting happens. 95 feet of snow in the mountains is double a normal snowy year. We have had several years of drought so we appreciate the water, but it will take some managing to avoid flooding. We have a place north of us that had landslides that took 2 newly built homes with several others in the subdivision now condemned. Mother Nature can pack a whollop!

So exciting! nylene So glad you all were able to drive around the canyon and have lunch. Sounds like a beautiful scene. I have been getting into watching golf. I have been reading up on the terms and rules. I love parks so it makes sense that I would love golf courses. Watching the tournaments feel so relaxing. Now I want to find and visit other courses here in So Cali. Lol! grammadee Hope you are feeling better. Sending you a prayer.
