Good Friday morning, Pokeys! nylene , I hope your dh is recovering well from his procedure Wednesday. Of course I love your gnome, Linda . I picked up the free sets, but on top of my other irritations with getting my Silhouette to cut, I can't get the gnome cut files to talk to my Silhouette software. Well, I can open the cut file and see it on the design screen, but once the file opens, my Silhouette freezes, so I can't do any edit functions--or anything else in th eprogram, even close it--until I shut it down with Windows override. I have a Cricut that I haven't used for years, but the only way I have used it has been with cartridges, so don't have the software on my computer even if I figure out how to connect it (it's a long way away from my computer desk) Closest evacuation was about an hour from here, kitbop . There was a grass fire yesterday on an acreage about 7 miles away, but the local fire crews and neighbours were able to contain it successfully. We had tons of snow, but last year was so dry that the soil had not frozen, so the snowmelt got sucked down deep this spring--next to no run off, so the surface is really dry, multiplying the risks for grassfires this spring. I started feeling icky on Tuesday afternoon, and by that evening it had escalated to a full blown gut spasm, something that attacked me periodically even before the whole gall bladder thing. I toughed it out for the night, but got no sleep with all the nausea and pain. Also, you know if nothing can move through the digestive system, it only has one direction to go... Dh took me into outpatients on Wednesday morning and although the cycle was broken, I was kept in hospital overnight and until I could prove to them I could keep down a little solid food. They released me yesterday afternoon. I had planned to be leaving this morning for our annual spring LSS crop with justjac , but while my energy is returning and I can handle doing stuff around the house, the world still feels like a huge place and I feel tired just thinking about getting out there, so I cancelled. If I am feeling up to it, I may drive in tomorrow to see the crafting crew and pick up my crop package of goodies, but that will depend on my energy level and dd's family's schedule--they are arriving tonight to plant potatoes this weekend. Meanwhile, dh has taken the truck in to town for the day, so I am hoping I can put together the page I had wanted to do Wednesday morning. I thought I might start the virtual crop today instead, but thinking I will just start the LO and if I get tired I can just take a nap. Enjoying my first cup of coffee since Tuesday morning and then I will get started scrapping.

grammadee - I'm glad you're on the mend and sorry that you had to cancel your crop but wise to rest up and nap as needed. What a pain with the silhouette - hopefully one of the cutting gurus here ( gramma maybe) can steer you in the right direction of getting it to work. I want to make one of the rainbow gnomes for DD but was getting frustrated with the layers so set it aside and I'll try again with getting it laid to cut another time. Today is mostly a scrappy day - I do need to do some prep work in the kitchen for our tea party tomorrow - boil eggs, make sausage rolls, bake brownies, maybe make the pork pies but otherwise I get to play.

grammadee , I am sorry your illness necessitated a hospital stay. I'm glad it was not a total blockage. DH had that happen once and when they went in to remove that section they found a small cancer. It had nothing to do with the blockage, just close enough that they saw it. We decided it was worth the surgery to find a cancer that would have become a much bigger problem. You said you had this happen before the gallbladder issues. Is this the first time since your GB surgery?I am so sorry you are having that issue. I am sending hugs and prayers that this is just a fluke and you won't have to go through it again. So sorry about your missing out on the LSS crop. Angie called yesterday asking if I would be willing to make graduation cards for the graduating seniors in their Girl Scout district. I made them last year so I am in the middle of cutting. It's keeping my little Cameo working. I'm also cutting Summer flowers to replace my tulips on the church bulletin board. I have a couple of cards in the works, but I'm itching to do some layouts. I guess that will come later this month. grammadee , I wish I could help you with the Silhouette. I've never had it lock up on me. Maybe gramma will have some answers.

nylene - I remember last year's Girl Scout grad cards - they were awesome! kellyr21 - I wish all the pokeys could join me for tea today - that would be so fun. We're going to have egg mayo and cucumber/herbed cream cheese tea sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini pork pies, and scones. And then mini brownies, jaffa cakes, and shortbread for the dessert course. And tea of course. The jaffa cakes and shortbread are store-bought but I'm making the rest

I was hoping for a scrappy weekend but life got in the way. Our little Hailey (9mo.) flipped herself off the bed while her mother was getting her dressed. It was obvious that she was hurt because she wouldn't stop screaming. After several hours of CT and other testing at the hospital, they found that she fractured her femur. Dr. said she must have hit right on her knee and it buckled the leg. She's in a cast up that leg and around her waist. The poor little girl and her poor mama trying to diaper and keep her clean for 4 weeks. Her daddy just graduated from college and will be doing post-grad studies in the area. They are currently living with Tori while they get settled. I'm so glad they are because Tori and her DH were with her when the accident happened and were able to get her to the hospital. I did finish the Girl Scout graduation cards. Thanks for your comments, Linda. I will also post a fun card I made for DGD's birthday. Hope to get back here later today to catch up on all the weekend projects. Glad you are feeling better grammadee.

Oh no, nylene! How scary! And it will be a tough few weeks until that cast comes off. I remember caring for my nephew when he was in a femur cast at age 3. Hard enough to keep it dry even though he was potty trained. But little bones heal quickly. Here is hoping that all goes well. So good that gramma is there to help her. I put together 4 Mothers Day cards this morning. Plan to put them in the mail tomorrow along with the Pea May birthday cards. 2023 Mothers Day cards by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Wow, what beautiful cards, grammadee . I'll take a closer look in the gallery. I won't post a photo of grad cards because they are just like last year's. Here is the card I made for our Duckie-loving granddaughter. She loves ducks and all her avatars, and online names have something to do with ducks. I hope she likes it. It folds flat in the envelope and then pops up to stand. Duckies Card for Sam

poor little Hailey and family! What a terrible upset. I remember when my kids took falls and I was so glad they weren't hurt. Matt flung himself down the stairs at about that age. Katie burned herself on the stove when she was 2... came close to skin grafting... she has zero recollection and I'm so glad. Hailey will probably relish the story as an adult but her Mom will never feel the same!!! Hugs to the whole group of you nylene!

Good morning, Pokeys. Hope you are having a good week.
Popping in to say I am on my way to Edmonton for my mammogram today. Beautiful sunny day and the leaves are popping out all over, so it will be an enjoyable drive after all the drab landscape of the last couple of months. Will be staying over at dd's and plan to watch dgs's soccer game this evening. Tomorrow I will need to stop at Costco, and I know I will be sticking my nose into the LSS that is 4 blocks away from it LOL.
See ya on the flip side!

Thank you for the prayers and well wishes for little Hailey. Her mom sent me a photo of her playing contently. She doesn't seem to be in pain now but is unhappy that she can no longer crawl around. LOL. I'm so glad children are so resilient. Have a great trip, grammadee. I hope you find some fun things in the LSS. Drive carefully.

Happy Tuesday! Waving hi to you all. I had a fun weekend scrapping for NSD and I did watch some of the live YT videos, too. I did a challenge for A Cherry on Top doing a stenciled background. Then late last week, I did my Paige Evans class sunray lo. I have another one of her classes tomorrow for two more layouts. I want to take one of her mini album classes in the future. They look fun. Birthday Lo by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr Sunray Lo by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr I enjoyed the some of the coronation on Saturday and the Kentucky Derby. I would love to wear a fancy hat and go to the derby. Looks likes it's an all-day party with a little horse racing. LOL! grammadee- Safe travels and glad your tummy is feeling better. nylene- Your card is just darling!!! I would love to see you you make those cards. linda- Your celebration sounds fun! Any more festivals or outings coming up in your area?

Happy Wednesday! Today was my virtual Paige Evans's class. It was a lot of fun. She made 2 layouts with her new collection. I was happy to participate an not just chat. LOL! I didn't have all the papers she used so I just made due with what I had from her collection. I hope to finish both pages this week and I will share them with you gals. I am still in the "Pokey" category but it does feel nice to be scrapping again. Taking this class was helpful in getting me going. I might sign up for another one soon. nylene- Thanks for the cheers! Your card is so well done and super cute. I think you need to be our resident card teacher!!! I have never made dimensional cards from scratch.

I am home safe. All clear with the mammogram. Don't need to go back until next year. Got to watch my dgs play soccer, his team won, he scored two goals, and I got a photo of one of them! So well worth shivering out there in the cool drizzly weather. I printed some of the pic's today and took a ME day in the city. Shopped for some scrapbook papers (soccer and grad themes), and some "stencil butter" fell into my basket so it came home with me too. Went looking for something to wear to dgd's grad and found a long floral top to go over my sleeveless black dress. Also picked up a couple of fun summer Tshirts and a terry swim cover-up that will work wonderfully as a summer bath robe. Tomorrow I hope to get some pages finished! Taking on my own prompts from the Pea Scrappin' Party. Hope to see ya there!

kellyr21 - those layouts are beautiful! We're heading out of 'doing things outside' season here with the start of 90+ degree days and the rainy season - We'll still hit the every other week farmers and creaters market here in town and DH usually goes to the monthly community yard sale in a nearby town but street festivals and the like tend to go quiet over the summer for the most part. nylene - what a gorgeous card! Welcome home grammadee. Glad the mammo went well and you're good for another year. Congrats to your dgs -two goals is great! And sounds like you had a nice 'ME' day - yay! I have a few chores to take care of and then scrappy time. DD16 is taking her AP World History test this morning so we were all up extra early (she had to be at school an hour earlier than start of school). DH will pick her up after the test ends and take her to lunch and then back to school - she could take the rest of the day off but she has welding last period and that teacher doesn't believe in absences even when they are excused by the school so she doesn't want to miss it.

Not sure how scrappy today will be. We lost one of our kitties overnight - Tabby turned 13 last week and didn't wake up this morning. Feeling a bit numb...in the past 2.5 years we've lost five cats - all seniors but...that's just a lot. We still have 3 - Mini who was Tabby's littermate and the two little ones - Pad-Bear who just turned 2 and Dusty who is 2 today. DD16 made a French lemon tart for food day in her French class today - it turned out great (she made a trial one earlier in the week -yum!) and DH kindly drove her to school.

Hugs Linda - I'm so sorry Tabby is gone We had to put our 12.5 year old Lulu down on Monday - she suddenly stopped eating. Her blood work, teeth, throat, lungs and heart were all perfect. The vet said the only other consideration was gastric lymphoma (which is not uncommon) and we tried an anti-nausea drug and steroids but they only helped for about 4 hours and then she wouldn't eat again. She was a bundle of bones and we didn't want her to suffer. So we're down to 3 cats and 1 dog. However. We did buy a puppy on Monday as well! Another mini schnauzer (to replace Scout. I will never stop loving Scout but really wanted another schnauzer). We pick her up next Wednesday and boy are these days going slowly! We met her mother, and I would have taken HER home if they'd let me - she was a wonderful friendly girl. It will be a surprise for the kids. And we hope our other dog enjoys a new friend. She really likes having dogs visit and is sad when they leave. She and Scout were perfect together.

So sad about the loss of your kitties, Linda and kitbop. (((((HUGS))))) to you both. You will be BUSY with a mini Schnauzer pup, kitbop! I hope Lily falls in love with the little one and does some of the training for you. Ds's family still have one who is rolling up to 16 years old. When she and her brother were pups, there was all kinds of fun!

Good Saturday morning, Pokeys. At least it is still morning for me... Have a wonderful time with family at the wedding, nylene. What are your weekend plans, kellyr21? You always seem to be doing interesting things. This evening, dh and I will be attending justjac's play! I hope to take my camera and get a few shots if it is allowed. It is dinner theatre, so an earlier start, and dh wants to hit some hardware/farm supply stores before we show up at the venue. Not sure when he plans to leave, but I will need to be ready to roll... Have a wonderful weekend, Pokeys! I have been having fun at the Pea Scrappin Party, and I see you have been over there too.

Happy Saturday! Not much going on here today but I did make it to M's. I was just looking at the Scrappy Party thread and trying to catch up there. I am working on prompt #1 this weekend. grammadee- No big plans this weekend. Just taking it easy. It has warmed up here so not sure if we will be able to go to the tennis courts. That has been my favorite thing to do on Sat/Sun. So we will see about tomorrow. Have fun at justjac play! How exciting!
