Good morning, Pokeys. Happy Mothers' Day to all the Moms. You, too, scrappyrabbit : you have so many Mothers Day experiences ahead of you: sticky kisses and wonky artwork and bizarre breakfasts. We are going to brunch, then I am heading to the local greenhouse to pick up veggie bedding plants and leave my big pot for them to plant flowers in. (((((HUGS))))) to those missing their moms. Mine has been gone for over 65 years, but I thought of her yesterday on my walk around the yard. I smelled wild mint and I remembered her taking me to find it along the shady edge of the creek. And the delightful taste of it when she encouraged me to bite into one of the leaves. I didn't follow my nose to find the mint yesterday, but I did remember my mom and smile.

Thanks grammadee I hope you had a good time at justjac 's show! Were you able to snap any pics? Low-key Mother's Day here, I slept HORRIBLY after getting the booster yesterday, so I started the day with a nap. Yep, at 9:30 am I went back to bed for an hour. But I started feeling better once I woke up and took a shower. DH is making dinner tonight (baked ziti) and I got to scrap! Successful day I say.

grammadee , I wish we could have enjoyed justjac 's play through your eyes. I'm sure it was a great performance and evening. kitbop , so sorry about the loss of your dog. That is so heart-breaking. Congrats on the new doggie purchase. Does the new little one have a name yet? I didn't even get to the computer yesterday to wish you all a Happy Mother's Day. We got home late from the wedding and we took Em and family to the airport the next morning at 4:30 am. I didn't even go to bed. I figured I had all day to catch up on sleep and I was so afraid of oversleeping. We have an app so Em can follow my phone and I can follow hers. It was fun to follow her to San Francisco. She sent a photo of them walking on Lombard St. and Anj and Sam were with them! Anj met them at the airport and spent the day with them. I wasn't aware of those plans and it was a fun surprise to see them together. They couldn't come for the wedding but we had everyone else. I was even surprised to see my brother and sister-in-law who had driven from Idaho. We siblings sat around reminiscing for at least an hour. It was such a wonderful evening. I hope to get on the Crop this morning and try to catch up on the sketches for the last 2 days.

I hope all those celebrating had a wonderful mother's day! Mine was low-key - DH picked me up a mocha frappe for breakfast which he knows I love. Then we ran errands to Home Depot and Aldi - someone here posted about the modular tool chests a while back...I spotted one while I was in Home Depot and was telling DH about how we had talked about them here and that people were using them for crops. He had never even heard of them so we went to the aisle and there about 5 brands ...and he ended up buying himself a mother's day gift of modular tool chests, lol. (and yes- if I had wanted some, he would have gotten them for me but I don't go to crops).
DS left last night for his very first trip on a Navy ship - he's been in for 7.5 years and has never been overnight on a ship. It's a short 'cruise' just a week or two - he sent me a selfie from onboard this morning.
I'm dragging a bit today - didn't sleep well last night and must have slept wrong as my neck is out of whack today - ouch!

joyfulnana I think all the virtual free Michaels classes are recorded and available on their YouTube channel a few days afterwards. I do like the Zoom live interaction. I usually don't do the project live but I like watching and learning something new. Thanks kellyr21, that’s good to know. I’ll check it out. @just jac, from the picks it looks like you had a good time at the crop. grammadee I’m so sorry you ended up at the hospital and had to miss it! So glad she got see your play tho! I’m not sure we have any dinner theaters left here any more. At least not anywhere in this area. nylene, I’m so sorry to hear this about DH’s eye. I can’t wait to see the pages from the wedding. Rudy is out the 22nd or 23rd. He’s definitely counting them down lol. I can’t get over him being a third grader next year. How scary about Hailey! Poor thing, Cody broke his collarbone falling off our bed when he was 2. It’s so scary when they get hurt and you aren’t sure how badly. grammadee I was really hopeful all your gut problems would be over once they got your gallbladder out. Did they figure out what caused it? Linda your tea sounds lovely, also sounds like a lot of work lol, but I’ll sure bet it’s worth it. That’s so cool that DD is welding. I’m so sorry about Tabby. I didn’t realize you had lost so many so quickly. (((hugs)))) That’s exciting for DS right? Or was going out something he wasn’t looking forward to? kitbop I’m so sorry about Lula, but the new puppy will bring lots of joy! I hope the dogs can be best buds. So fun to see so many of you this morning. And to be in a day time crop!

Happy Birthday nylene! joyfulnana - the tea was a lot of work but it's worth once or twice a year. DD loves welding and I'm grateful she has a really good teacher who is just as encouraging to the girls as the guys. Thank you abt Tabby. Yes - I think DS is excited about going out - but also glad it's a short trip.

Hope your family spoiled you silly for your birthday yesterday, nylene. So nice that you got to see siblings at the wedding and it sounds like they will be back shortly as well. Good times. Have been enjoying your pages and cards. Linda, I picked up all their gnome cut files, but am hoping to use them with my Silhouette. And after the weekend, I need to step away from the craft room for awhile. I am watching the Spellbinders Glimmer System class in small segments. Have not pulled out the machine yet, but enjoying the different ideas they are demo-ing and thinking about how I might use some of them when I do take out the machine and plug it in. Thanks so much for all you added to the fun of our Pea Scrappin' Party! I had a wonderful time playing with paper all weekend. But the party is over and back to reality here. This morning I put some onion sets into the ground and cleaned off our covered deck so we can actually use it. Lots of dust and leaves and clutter. But it is looking pretty good now. Just need to figure out what to do with some of the stuff I don't want out there. Not sure what dh plans for today. He left early this morning and I have not seen him since. Yesterday he was quite adamant we should be seeding the peas etc today. I am still hoping we can wait until dd's family is here this upcoming weekend. But if he insists this afternoon I will go out there again. Tomorrow I am heading into Lloyd. Book club in the evening. Will be making a tour of the greenhouses on the way to pick up some more bedding plants and a few seeds. And I need to make a stop at Michaels to find some wide wired ribbon. I want to finish off dgd's album with a ribbon and bow along the left margin of the cover. I am slipping the page into a sheet protector which is mod podged onto the cover, so the ribbon will not only finish off the look, but also cover up the left side of the page protector. I had planned to make a box for the album to sit in, but was able to find one that works at Home Sense. It has room to also hold some of her other grad momentoes like cards and maybe decorations & napkins. Will post a pic when I have it all done and tucked into its box.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I felt like the whole weekend was a party with the wedding, Mother's Day and my birthday. It was topped off with a visit with a few of my favorite Peas at the Online Crop. Thanks, kitbop, Linda, grammadee and joyfulnana for hosting the Pea Scrappin' Party. I had to scrap on and off between events, but was surprised that I finished each challenge. I loved the sketches and really wanted to make them work. grammadee, reading about what you are doing for your DGD's grad album makes me excited to see it. I felt the same way when you posted about what you were doing with the picture frame last year. I couldn't wrap my mind around how all those parts and pieces would come together. When you posted it, it was beyond amazing. I'm sure that's what your album will be too. Linda, our school ends next week but Alex is missing the last 4 days. Their family is on a cruise ship headed for Alaska. It sounds like fun. Does your DD have plans for the summer? I'm sure there will be GS events. kellyr21, how often do you get to play tennis? I'm sure that it has to be early in the mornings as you have plenty of heat already. I'm glad you are enjoying the classes you are taking. I have loved your beautiful layouts. Did I tell you that when Downey did some reconstruction, they sold some of the plaques with street names. My niece was able to get "Wiley Burke" for my sister, where they lived in Downey for many years before moving to Utah. It is my sister's prized possession! Linda, how exciting for your DS to get some time on the ship. I hope he has a fun and learning experience. I didn't realize that he hadn't been on any long sails. justjac, your play sounds delightful. What are you doing with all your "free time" now? LOL. joyfulnana, you need to change your avatar with your new hairdo! I love it flipped up. But we want Abby in the photo too! kitbop, is tomorrow the day to pick up the new puppy? It will be fun to see photos soon. scrappyrabbit, are you feeling better after getting your booster? Was this for Covid? It's about time for us to get another one too. Have a great week, everyone. It's so nice to visit with you.

Does your DD have plans for the summer? I'm sure there will be GS events. she has a busy summer planned. In June her troop is spending a week doing high adventure fun - camping, backpacking, white water rafting and canyoneering. In July they are going to Minnesota for 10 days - 7 of which will be canoeing on the Boundary Waters. And then late July/early August, she's taking the train to visit her siblings in VA for about 10 days or so.

scrappyrabbit, are you feeling better after getting your booster? Was this for Covid? It's about time for us to get another one too. I am feeling much better! Yes it was for COVID. DH and I are travelling back to the east coast in about 2 weeks to see his family, so I wanted to be boosted before the trip. Lots of people are still catching COVID so I want to be safe. Also the booster supposedly protects the baby after he/she is born for a little while, which is good. kitbop yay for new puppies how old will this dog be?

nylene I'm so happy you had such a wonderful party weekend for your bday! Your hitched card is wonderful! I'm really loving these pop up cards you're making! So fun! I've puttered around quite a bit, and today will probably be the last day I have free to do whatever I like. I'll be keeping Rudy tomorrow night while Dad plays a show, and then he'll be around all weekend so it's hard to say what the weekend will end up like. Linda DD does have a busy summer planned doesn't she? It sounds like a fun one for her! I'm not doing the cricut card summit, I don't think I knew about it, but I definitely need to do a better job of using my cricut. I wanted to use it on a lo,and I've not really gotten used to design space, and couldn't for life of me remember how to cut a title. I always had the cartridges and gypsy which were much easier for me. grammadee I hope DH doesn't work you too hard in the garden! I slept in today - so I guess I should get my day going. I tell my boss when I take the week off like this that I'm practicing being retired. lol. I can say, I'm going to like it when it gets here lol. Waving hi! I hope everyone has a great day!

Happy belated birthday nylene. Sadly I have not mailed my April or May birthday card club cards yet even though they've been made for weeks. I hope it will get to you by June! So far I don't feel like I've had much free time. DH and I are going on a work retreat to Victoria BC. We leave tomorrow. It's two days of driving, three days there, and two days of driving back. I've been doing laundry and packing because I have no time today with a nail appointment after work and then book club. We could have flown to Victoria, but DH and I enjoy a road trip and one of the airlines is possibly going on strike Friday, so driving is a better bet. I'm looking forward to seeing you at book club grammadee. I still have to finish the book, but I think I can fit the last pages in today. joyfulnana I hope you've enjoyed your downtime! scrappyrabbit getting boosted is smart. Four students out of my carpool buddy's class are out with Covid, but we've all tested negative. Linda I'm so sorry about your cat. kitbop enjoy your puppy!

justjac, I can't imagine that you have not had time to finish your book. With all you have had going on lately, I'm surprised you had time to start it. I hope you have fun at Book Club. Seeing grammadee again will be fun for both of you. I'm glad you have recovered from the play and that you feel good about how it went. Have a safe trip to Victoria. Will you have some time to rest and relax? joyfulnana, I'm glad you have had some time to yourself this week. Having Rudy on the weekend will keep you busy. I the love "practicing retirement"! How much longer will you work? It was wonderful to see you on a weekday crop. I'm glad you had a chance to sleep in one day!

Good morning Pokeys. It is Smokey here from fires elsewhere in the province. Also really cool. Close to freezing. My plants are staying in the garage this morning. Picked up the wired ribbon yesterday and finished dgd’s album. 177 page protectors, two copied pages in each. Stories of her life right from the beginning. And some of her interests Fun with her cousins. All tied up with a bow. Thank heavens for wired ribbon.

scrappyrabbit - glad you're feeling better after the booster - so important but they do wipe one out. joyfulnana - I've glad you've had a week off - how long until you get to actually retire? I will say watching all the presenters USE design space in their videos...it's really not very intuitive and seems clunky. SCAL doesn't seem nearly as complicated and now I've actually USED cartridges (thanks again nylene) they aren't either. Design Space isn't compatible with my Cricut so guess it's good I'm not sold on it. Gosh justjac - you've been and continue to be so busy! Enjoy the retreat Oh grammadee - that album is amazing! Your granddaughter is going to treasure it! grey rainy day here with intermittant thunder so I'm glad to be staying inside watching the last day of Card Summit videos and hopefully cutting some more cards

Happy Thursday! It is sunny now after an overcast morning. Waving hi to you all! I have my sunburst lo from the Pea Party to finish. I got stuck with the page and not happy with my sun rays. LOL! I think I will start over with new colors and pp. nylene and linda We didn't do tennis last weekend but hopefully this weekend we will. Nylene, it isn't too hot YET so I am trying to play as much as we can before we have to wait till Fall. We play in the later afternoons and it is usually pleasent. grammadee- Thanks for all the fun you and the gals hosted. Gotta pop over to the thread and see all the great creations. I hope your weather warms up soon. I was watching a travel show about northwestern Ontario and thought of you, justjac and kitbop. It looked beautiful around Lake Superior. Of course that sent me to Wikipedia to read up on that area. Amazing scenery! nylene - What a fantastic bday weekend you had. So happy for you and glad you had a fun time. How cool that your family got a street sign from Downey!!! I think I have seen that street in one of our favorite neighborhoods to visit. I am sure they loved living here. We sure do! Oh, your wedding card is just ADORABLE! Great job! linda - I saw that Cricut conf on YouTube. I might check out some of the classes. I have a super old Cricut and I never use it but I still like to know what is going on in the craft world. justjac - I hope your play went well and have a fun and safe trip.

hello kellyr21 - sorry about no tennis last weekend but hopefully you'll get to play this weekend - we're rapidly approaching indoor season here as well. I've enjoyed the Cricut Card Summit and have made several cards and have some plans to make others. But tomorrow I really need to do some chores around the house as I've been doing bare minimum for a whole week between the crop here and then the summit right on its heels. Fortunately DH encourages me to take the time for scrappy stuff.

Good morning Pokies!
Today is 'clean all the things' day at my house - starting with the craft room, lol. It's pretty organised but there are things that need putting away and it needs a good cleaning (dusting, windows, wiping down surfaces, vacuuming). Going to work my way through as many rooms as possible today and hopefully I can finish up sometime tomorrow and get scrappy again. It looks to be a fairly quiet weekend - DD16 has a dinner party with her Girl Scout troop Sunday evening so we'll head into the city to drop her off for that and probably go out to eat ourselves - but otherwise my calendar looks pretty empty.
It's rainy here again today. DD baked a chocolate mint sheet cake last night to bring in to school today for her last Gifted class of the year -so DH drove her in and will pick her up afterschool as well.I think we're all counting down until summer break (one more week - they get out Friday (26))

Good Morning! nylene , Linda, I've got maybe 6 or 8 more years to retirement. I'm really leaning toward 6 lol. Linda , I feel the same way about design space, it's not intuitive at all. But I don't have my machines or carts anymore - and I think if I just used design space more often I would also enjoy my Cricut more. I know it can do cool things, if I will take the time and have the patience to learn it. This week off has been interesting. I had been feeling for a few weeks, kinda run down and low energy, knowing I needed a break, but there just wasn't a good time to take one with us being short handed. (chronically, and I said my piece to my boss and counted to 10) I thought I'm going to scrap all day every day and just rest. But that's not really feasible because my brain gets tired after a few hours lol. I think it may have been Monday or Tuesday I felt a little like I might be coming down with something - of course!- and as Wednesday went on, I started feeling some congestion and sniffles, woke up Thursday feeling feverish and sure I had Covid. Thankfully I don't. But I was running myself down too much, I have slept nearly straight from 10PM Wednesday until 3:PM Thursday. Got through the evening with Rudy, him watching a movie and me dozing lol. Slept another 8+ hours and today I feel so much better. Not 100% but I feel like I could actually do somethings today lol. My aim was to rest this week and take it easy, and my body was obviously onboard, but I wasn't doing it "right" LOL! justjac safe travels! I can't imagine why you haven't had a chance to finish the book club book either lol. I should look into getting another covid booster, I think I'm eligible again. grammadee I can't believe it's still getting so cold there. But that's probably not unusual. It seems like in years past, Mother's Day seemed to be about the time the temps would bound into Spring and the freezes would be over. kellyr21 it's getting very warm here as well, it's too soon to be stuck inside for the summer, but that's where we seem to be heading. I haven't played tennis since HS, are you enjoying it? Sounds like a lot of running which doesn't sound fun to me anymore lol. But would be really good for me Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a wonderful day and weekend!

joyfulnana , I hope you really are feeling better today. I'm afraid your body just had enough and decided to rebel to make you rest. I find that I often get sick after a period of stress and my migraines always come at that time. Take it easy the rest of the weekend. You deserve the rest! Is Rudy excited about being out of school soon? Linda , your day of cleaning was exactly what I had planned for today but life got in the way. I hurt my back yesterday when I lifted a couch cushion that was harder "velcroed" to the couch than I expected and I couldn't straighten back up. I'm hobbling a bit so not going to do the floors I had planned. I'm giving it a rest. Have a nice dinner out with DH. I hope your DD enjoys her dinner party. Hooray for only a week of school left. Is your Cricut Summit over? I used my SCAL for several years with my Cricut and loved it. When I wore out my 2nd cricut and was looking for another, Cindy convinced me to try the Silhouette. I never did get the Design Space to work for me but I really loved the Cricut when I was using it. We had a family wedding last night and all my siblings were there. The music got so loud and heavy bass that we all went outside and visited for over an hour. We laughed at how much we are now like our parents and can't understand how those young kids can stand that loud #@*# music. I think we each left with a headache! It was fun for the younger crowd though. LOL I'm off to get some "light" work done.

joyfulnana - I hope you're feeling better -sounds like your body needed a break. (((Hugs))) I think if I just used design space more often I would also enjoy my Cricut more. I know it can do cool things, if I will take the time and have the patience to learn it. That's pretty much what I've been doing recently is using the Cricut more and trying new things with it and really learning all it can do between the cartridges and SCAL. I learnt yesterday that my Expression will actually cut dashed lines for the score lines and that works perfectly - who knew? not me. nylene - OUCH - take it easy and let that back rest. The housework will still be there when you're feeling better. I think our tolerance of loud music lessens as we get older - I know mine has. Glad you enjoyed seeing family at the wedding. Back to housework- I got "interrupted" by DH coming home for lunch but he also took care of a couple of small projects while he was home (tightening the arms on my chair and replacing the edge brushes on my robo-vac) which was helpful.

Hi Pokey Friends! I was reading through getting caught up on this month. nylene - Happy belated birthday and I hope your back feels better. I hate that Steve is still struggling with his eyes. I hope the radiation goes okay. My prayers are with him. justjac - can't wait to see the puppy pics! So sorry about the loss of your kitty. linda - I love the gnome card you made. It is adorable. I am also really sorry about Tabby. I know how hard it is to lose a furbaby. joyfulnana - The album you made for your granddaughter is beautiful! I especially love the work on the cover...so pretty! I have had a more exciting month than planned. I had a heart attack and then got an infection in my the heart sac. Thankfully, I'm doing so much better. I'm a pretty calm person, so when I stood up and told my hubby we needed to go to the hospital because I recognized what was happening, he didn't realize I was in crisis. He let the dogs out...took his time getting dressed and was driving super carefully...until I told him to run the lights and get me there...lol. Thankfully I'm fine now. Like any good scrapbooker, I was annoyed that my return trip to the hospital for the infection interrupted the assembly of my Week in the Life album. So I'm planning to work on that today. I hope you all have a great Saturday!

Wow shinyhappytina. What a scare! Glad your dh got you to treatment in time. Hope you are feeling better and that you stay that way! nylene, I hope your back is more relaxed today. I have long suspected that cleaning is hazardous to your health! How is the new puppy, kitbop? Got pic’s? Hope your trip is going super well, justjac. joyfulnana, I am glad you got some rest, but sorry your week off work did not turn out the way you had planned. Dd & family are here. Yesterday they took possession of their house in our local town. And they got word that sale of their current home went through, possession mid July. They are staying here while doing some cleaning and painting in their new home. This morning we plan to plant the garden before they head back to town. Happy weekend, Pokeys! Thinking of you, gramma

joyfulnana , I hope you really are feeling better today. I'm afraid your body just had enough and decided to rebel to make you rest. I find that I often get sick after a period of stress and my migraines always come at that time. Take it easy the rest of the weekend. You deserve the rest! Is Rudy excited about being out of school soon? nylene , I believe that's exactly what happened, and I can't say I was surprised when the first icky feeling came. It's happened to me two other times and had me down for a week. But I'm feeling sooo much better that I want a do over and want next week off instead so I can enjoy it more! I didn't push myself yesterday, and I'm going to do a better job of making sleep a priority. I had another early night/sleep in late morning. Today I finally feel refreshed. Tuesday is Rudy's last day of school, even though he mused Thursday night that "maybe Dad will let me off school tomorrow". Um, you have three days and they are do nothing but have fun days, no, he's not going to let you off LOL! I'm not sure what he'll be doing this summer, last year he was in a summer camp, but I haven't heard anything about this year. nylene - OUCH - take it easy and let that back rest. The housework will still be there when you're feeling better. I think our tolerance of loud music lessens as we get older Yes to this! All of this! The housework will always be there when we get to it. And my tolerance for lots of things has lessened as I've gotten older. The weirdest thing, may be 13 year old boy humor. Which a lot males seem to never outgrow, including one of my sons. It's just not funny to me at all lol. I guess it never was, but it's easier to tolerate it from a 13 yo and not a 30 something lol. nylene take it easy, because those sofa cushions will always be there needing a fluff or a clean. It all will. Linda that's sweet that DH took care of somethings for you on his lunch. Does he have much of a commute for work? I never liked going home for lunch because the drive home and back left me about 20 minutes for actual lunch. And I felt like I lived close to work lol. kitbop did you get the puppy this past Wednesday or is it next week? I've been trying to remember which day you said. If you have pics, I can't wait to see them! grammadee I'm so glad DD is close and it sounds like everything is going fairly smoothly. How exciting they have possession of the new home, and it sounds like plenty of time to get moved and settled before being out of the current one. That's a boon! shinyhappytina what a scare!! And it's good you knew what was happening and could prod DH into running lights! I'm so glad you are home and recuperating! I'm sorry, I'm LOLing at it messing up working on your WITL album. We do have our priorities! lol. gramma, thinking of you here too. Keeping you and Ken in my thoughts. (((hugs)))) Today is meal planning/food shopping and some catch up cleaning around here. I really need a clean allll the things day, but it won't be this weekend. I'll have to post a pic later of the huge box of yarn I got for blankets. Lots of knitting for me the rest of the year. I was only buying yarn as I finished each blanket, because I *know* myself. But I was in Joann last week, I noticed the yarn I was using went on clearance. And they were running out of a lot of the colors online. So I ended up getting all the yarn I needed and now I pray I make the blankets lol. Honestly, I have long loved having needlework to do while I watch TV so it's been really enjoyable. I'm half way through the one for me, so I'm speeding up on it since I now have the yarn for the others mocking me lol. I'm sure it will end up a crush before Christmas, because that seems to be how I roll. I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
