I sort by colour - I have 12 horizontal cubbies in my Recollections cubes and store my PP and cardstock by colour there.
cardstock is in:
pink/purple yellow/orange red (which shares with the red PP) green blue brown/cream grey (which shares with the black/grey PP)
I have black and white separate because I buy in bulk
scraps are also stored by colour, mixed with PP scraps in open top clear plastic envelopes (I cut off the flaps)

My 12x12 cardstock is sorted by color and stored on bookshelves in paper holders similar to THIS. As for the 8.5x11 cardstock, a selection of it sits on my scrap desk in one of these trays. (This one is from Walmart; but mine from Costco is very similar.) The rest of my 8.5x11 CS is on bookshelves in various magazine holders. They're not all the same - some are cardboard that I bought really cheap from Staples & various other places, and others are nicer more sturdy wooden ones from Ikea. The paper trays on my desktop were a wonderful find at Costco several years ago - I love having an assortment of all the colors within arms reach of both my scrap desk and my computer desk (where my Cameo also sits) so it's accessible for die cutting, card-making, punching, or other types of cut page embellishments (page borders, banners, etc.). When I'm scrapping, I've typically already pulled the 12x12 paper (both PP & CS) that I'll be using for the project and have it sitting on the "L" arm (free-standing small shelf unit on wheels) of my scrap desk, either stacked on a shelf or in an open Iris case on top.

I have my white cardstock I use for card making and alcohol markers in a pull out drawer in one of my cubes.
The other limited card stock I have is with the appropriate Iris container of patterned paper. I don't use a lot of cardstock but occasionally get some to match paper lines. So I keep it with the patterned paper.

I recently switched my storage a bit. My paper is still in 13 x 13 plastic envelopes. Includes solids and patterned. The envelopes are in bins (my new way of holding all the 13 x 13 envelopes). >> www.hobbylobby.com/Spring-Shop/Storage-Planters/Baskets/Rectangle-Ribbed-Container/p/81016548By color. Multi-color is by style (striped, polka dots, water color, grunge, floral, etc...). Certain paper is by brand (Basic Grey, Daisy D). Themed paper is with that themes other stuff (stickers, embellishments, alphabets, etc...) in 13 x 13 envelope (Christmas, Birthday, travel, etc..).

I have a rack on wheels for hanging folders that fit 12x12 cardstock. I have no idea where my aunt found it. She passed it on to me years ago.
I have a file folder for each color. I have dividers in a few, like white, to separate textured, smooth, and really heavy weight papers.

I have the hanging folders for 12 x 12 and have been searching for a box to hold them. Can you share the name of the box you use and where you found it. Thanks.

It's just a Sterilite file box that you buy at any office supply store, with those army green colored folders, and yes the cardstock is 12 by 12. The box is just a tiny bit wider than the paper, but it does fit. The paper sticks out the top of the box.

I have file folders that sort all my stampin up paper and separate ones for other brands of cardstock I buy. Then the 4th one is for patterned paper by color ( I don't have muchh 8.5 x 11 patterned paper. I also sort my large scraps into folders by color in the 4th file box.

Thanks for your responses. Cardstock is my favorite, frequently-used, & most abundant supply! I organize it primarily by manufacturer, then by texture, & loosely by color. It is stored vertically in magazine-style paper holders/pouches on shelves in my ladder bookcase for easy access to quickly peruse, insert, & remove individual sheets.

I keep all my cardstock in a small drawer unit on top of my desk. All my cardstock fits in one drawer and is sorted in rainbow order.

My cs is stored by color in artbin satchels. My pp that can be sorted by color is stored along with it. I need to make myself use more cs as backgrounds.

I use vertical storage bins from the container store. I use one medium one for red/pink/orange/yellow (warm colors), one small bin for greens, one small bin for blues/purples, one medium for neutrals (black, brown, gray, etc.), one small for whites, one small bin for watercolor cardstock. The six bins all fit in two cubes of a target cube thing. Textures and brands are mixed together but I do try to keep cardstock that I have more than one of together.

In colored binders. Red binder has all my reds, etc. I put the cardstock in plastic 3 hole punched sleeves. Put the scraps in the same sleeve. Works good for me

I bought one of theseI was irked, because I thought I could use a coupon, and I couldn't. But I wanted it badly enough that I just said to heck with it, I can afford it, and I bought it. If I decide I want a second one I will wait until there's a storage sale at Michaels. Editted to add: I don't have a tonne of cardstock. I have the neutrals in one, the war5xm colours in another, and the cool colours in the third. My 8.5 x 11 is stored in magazine holders by colour. Rainbow order.

I have dividers in a few, like white, to separate textured, smooth, and really heavy weight papers. I have one of these as well (if there is a wire drawer at the bottom yours is probably from the container store). Mine are by color. 1 file for full 12x12 sheets and one for very large scraps and 8x11. Smaller scraps go in the large Sterlite 3-drawer bins by color, along with scraps from my decorative papers. Super easy to pull a drawer out and put on my desk so I can grab what I need. If I buy cardstock to go with a specific collection, it is stored in the 13 x 13 clear envelopes with the rest of the items in the collection. Or to go with a specific layout, it goes in the page kits with everything else.

Otherwise, we are organizational twins! My scraps go in a 3 drawer bin, too, although I mix colors so I only use one unit. I love when collections carry the matching cardstock. I also keep that with the collection.

By color- White, Black, then ROYGBIV, then neutrals. I try to keep like papers side by side but I don't bother arranging my reds, for example, in any particular order. I have all different textures put together. I also have Bo Bunny paper (dot, ledger, etc.) stored within the color. Most of my regular cardstock is linen texture. I have some orange peel and other textures but hardly any smooth unless it is kraft. I don't buy smooth but I have some that came in kits.
I have the majority of it stored in a big Rubbermaid type container that is rectangular, so it fits the paper. I also have a couple more portable Iris/Art Bin type carrying cases that I use to transport my cardstock to crops, etc.
In my big container I have a thin Totally Tiffany paper holder (I can't think how to describe it- like a thin magazine holder?) in front of each color. I put all of my large scraps in there. In theory I should look in the container before I pick a full piece. Sometimes I do, sometimes I forget.
Why is it that no matter how many colors of paper I have, I never have the right color?

I have my cardstock sorted together by color and it is stored in a box. Not great for being able to sift through and use it, but I don’t use it too much honestly. I haven’t bought cardstock in at least two years.
White cardstock is my exception as I keep it out for easy access.

I buy a lot of assorted packs of card stock. I tend to keep the packs together by brand. Michael’s/Recollections and Neenah, which I have the most of, I was also cutting one sheet into panels and arranging in spectrum order by brand in a SB.C bin, but I think I slacked off on that.
Arranging all the letter size regardless of brand by color would make it easy to choose for a project or virtual class, but difficult to replace stock without laborious labeling etc. a la Jennifer McGuire, which seems like overkill for a simple hobbyist. Maybe it doesn’t matter what brands of yellow I had — if I’m out of yellow, I need to find some, right?

Maybe it doesn’t matter what brands of yellow I had — if I’m out of yellow, I need to find some, right? I think if you tend to buy coordinating cardstock for PP or inks etc... then by brand makes a ton of sense. Or if you need to label the products you use (like on a blog or youtube or if you're published...). For me - I'm going to flip through all my yellows to find the right one so I store all my yellows together and when I start to run low/out or I realise that I don't have any lemon yellow for instance, then I'll pick some up next time I'm shopping and it'll be whatever brand is available (am I at HL or M or J or...) so brand is less of a factor for me. I do have preferences - I like loose cardstock (which is probably Brazzil), I like the textured pads at M's or the Colorbok from WM, I prefer M's bulk packs to HL's - HL's doesn't cut as nicely ime - but generally it's more a case of buying what's available where I am - I have HL in town but M's and J's are about an hour or so and we're only there once a month-ish and I try hard not to go to WM for just one thing.

I totally agree that I'm not on any design teams and don't have a blog, so who cares whose stock I'm using? But they aren't all created equal -- different weights, textures, some score and fold better, some take ink better. I buy things all over, including online. I guess that's the main reason I feel like I want to track what came from where; just to try to figure out which ones are really working for me.

I exclusively scrapbook & choose not to publish my layouts, so cardstock organized primarily by manufacturer, then by weight/texture & loosely by color, makes it quick & easy to reorder (if still available) my favorites &/or most-frequently used!

Thank you. That sounds like a bit of a tweak to what I’m doing rather than a complete overhaul…a tweak that ought to be easily accomplished while preparing for upcoming virtual events.
