You are not going to believe it...I just got off the phone with the son-in-in law of the man I met while down there. They have been setting the live trap everyday and they caught her today!! I am so excited!! They said she looked scared but healthy. She still had her collar on. I have to go to Minneapolis for an appointment tomorrow then I'll come right back and head to Oklahoma early Thursday morning. It's about a 16 hour drive so I probably won't get her until Friday morning. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you for the well wishes and hope you've given me! And to rodeomom for walking all that area searching! I am so HAPPY!!! I'm so happy for you! I don't know how I missed this thread, but omg, I was reading thru with such anxiety. I am so relieved! I am also going to make a donation to a local cat rescue in honor of Kitty/Silver and you and all of the sweet ppl ok Oklahoma who looked for this kitty, bcz stories like this restore my faith in humanity! Safe travels.

I am beyond excited for you! I know that I, along with so many other peas have been stressing right along with you over your beloved kitty. I have three cats myself and have been thinking about you every time I go to feed my crew. I am thrilled at the kindness of strangers helping you get reunited. And please consider getting one of those expanding travel cages that are long enough to put a small litter box in one end. I covered the back of my Subaru with a big piece of thick, clear plastic, then an old blanket on top of that just in case my old man kitty missed the edge of a smaller litter box. His back legs are rather stiff and he doesn’t quite squat all the way down anymore, meaning the pee might overshoot the box. At home, I have replaced all three litter boxes with large clear storage boxes that I found at Walmart. The sides are quite tall, allowing him to just stand up and pee and not worry about it going over the edge like it had been doing. I just made some quick wooden steps to put in front of the taller boxes so that he can walk into them easily. Surprisingly, he never did miss the box during the trip. And I already had some stainless steel travel dishes that attach to the metal doorway on the other end of the expanding cage, making giving them food and water easy without the worry of the bowls tipping over. My kitties traveled from California to Oregon in those cages and seemed quite happy in them. And you can carefully open the litter box end and lift it out to clean it and carefully put it back in without them escaping. I just used two plastic storage boxes from Walmart that were small enough to fit through the doors. I had my son standing on the opposite end of the cage tossing their favorite treats into their food dish to keep them at the far side while I pulled the litter box out on the opposite side. Oh, another tip. Since the water couldn’t be filled to the top of the bowl during the drive, I needed to check it and refill it often, especially in the cage with the two sibling cats sharing one water bowl. And to make it easier on me, I only gave them dry food during the trip so they needed more water than usual. I had done a practice run at home in my garage and realized that opening that end of the cage would give them a big opportunity to jump past the open door as I was adding water. I solved that by finding a water bottle from the grocery store that had a pull-up spout on it to drink from. I just pulled the spout up and squirt water into the bowl through the closed door. It worked perfectly. I added dried food and treats through the closed door as well, not having to open that side at all. And it was funny. When I finally purchased a home in Oregon and brought them home from the kitty condos they were staying in, I pulled into the garage and closed the door before opening my car up. I opened both sides of the cages and rather than bolt out, they just sat there and looked at me and didn’t offer to jump out at all! I actually had to reach in and pull the cats out. They wandered around the empty garage a bit to check it out and then one by one, they jumped back into the car cages. To me, that gave the cages the seal of approval. Here is the link again for your convenience. It sounds like you will be making regular trips between your two houses and could definitely make good use out of one so that you never need to worry about taking your kitty out for a bathroom break ever again. I don’t think we peas could handle another break for freedom! www.amazon.com/SPORT-PET-Portable-Waterproof-Collection/dp/B07VSWLY3J/ref=sr_1_15?crid=1696HBUHVRA8O&keywords=Expanding+travel+cat+cage&qid=1686927201&sprefix=expanding+travel+cat+cage%2Caps%2C287&sr=8-15&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18630bbb-fcbb-42f8-9767-857e17e03685And please please, post a picture of your little escape artist for us!
