Hey Linda : how are you feeling after your dental procedure? thanks for asking - it actually went quicker and smoother than expected and since I didn't need novacaine, no after-effects. I'm calling it a win.

Good Tuesday morning, Pokeys. How is your week going? I am in house cleaning mode. Tonight is book club and it will be happening HERE. So justjac and three others will be here for supper and our meeting. The house won't be pristine. But not quite the rats' nest it usually is...

Good morning Pokeys! It’s been a busy few weeks over here, as summer tends to be. My mom stayed with us for a week as well, which was helpful getting lots of things ready for baby. Less than 6 weeks until my due date… I’ve been loving swimming lately, as it’s so hot here (Southern California), and it also eases a lot of aches. I only have 2 weeks left of work until my maternity leave, which seems crazy to me! linda I am glad your dental procedure went well! I found out recently my dentist wants to do a root canal some time after baby is born… not looking forward to that at all!! I’ve never had one before. grammadee and justjac have fun at book club! What book are you discussing today? nylene good to see you scrapping and chatting! Glad you are feeling better. Waving hi to everyone!

Linda, glad the dental procedure went well. What scrappy things are you working on? I would love to see some of the pages of your trip album. I loved the early Williamsburg pages you posted. scrappyrabbit, glad you are feeling well and getting closer to the big day. I hope you have a happy "Labor Day". (Pun intended) I'm sure it was nice having your mother with you. Will she come back when the baby is born? grammadee and justjac, have a great book club discussion tonight. What are you having for dinner? And what book are you reading? While we are in Idaho this weekend we will make a trip to the little cemetery where my parents are buried. It seriously looks just like the Boot Hills that you see in movies. We will need to rake off the tumbleweeds, sagebrush and sticker weeds. The only water it gets is rain and snow. It looks so austere, but I have a good feeling there because we went up there every Memorial Day to clean and take flowers as I was growing up. When we were at the cemetery to bury mom, my son leaned over and whispered, "There is no way you and dad will be buried here. I will see to that!" LOL He is used to seeing grassy, pretty cemeteries. (We do have plots in a grassy, pretty one) Have a great week, everyone!

grammadee and justjac - hope you had a wonderful book club meeting - how fun! scrappyrabbit - you're getting so close! Looking forward to hearing all about baby! Glad your mum was able to visit and help out. Sorry about the pending root canal - I've never had one either despite all the dental stuff I've had done. nylene - Enjoy your time in Idaho. I'm glad you're able to visit the cemetery where your parents are buried. I remember my Granny bringing me to the cemetery on Memorial Day with flowers she cut in her garden and wrapped in paper towels and tin foil to decorate the graves. I've done a few pages for the Epic Trip album (2017) - here's a couple from Day 1

Linda , what a great family photo of all of you in your crowns. We attended a couple of these Medieval Jousting tournaments as part of the package when we attended DH's Golf Course conventions. I don't do well without utensils but it was such a fun event. You did a wonderful job capturing all the stages of the tournament.I also love seeing your pages of Georgia. DD lived there for several years and I would go tend their children while they came back to Utah to run the St George marathon. I would always have a couple of days with them before they left and I got to see lots of countryside. Your pages brought back sweet memories. I love the word art about Georgia. You certainly caught some beautiful scenery in the Gorge. Dusty is always so cute and fun to see. Thanks for sharing the trip! I chatted with Claudia this morning and she is healing. She will be back on the boards soon. It was nice to talk to her. She was on her way to the first day back at work so we didn't talk long.

Thank you nylene - Tallulah Gorge was stunning. DD16 went back there this summer with her Girl Scout troop and she has some fabulous pictures as well. Dusty is currently sleeping in one of my Kallax cubes on top of/in my envelopes of scrap paper. He's adorable. So glad to hear that Claudia is on the mend. I hope work isnt too much for her.

Happy Wednesday! We are back from our trip and we had a wonderful time. It has been so hot here, it was nice to get a break. We really rested the first two days and Monday we went down to Laguna Beach. Oh, the drive on Coast Hwy was breath-taking at times. We first went to Laguna a couple years ago and have wanted to return. It is an art town with lots of art galleries and of cource the iconic beach. This time, I just focused on the beach while my dh went to see some of the galleries and shops. I did take lots of pictures and hope to get some scrapping started.
I gotta go back and read what you ladies posted to catch up. Be back soon!

Excited for you, scrappyrabbit! Are you resigning from your job, or taking a leave? How much time will you have to spend with your baby before going back to work? Your trip down the coastal highway sounds wonderful, kellyr21. That sounds like a great place to relax and enjoy yourself. Hope you do decide to scrap some of the photos you took. Speaking of vacays, are you back from your road trip, kitbop? Looking forward to hearing about your adventures. And seeing some of them on pages, too. Linda, you are making great progress on that vacation album! And why not, with that willing scrappy helper LOL? Love the Medieval Times(?) photos. So much fun to attend. And your Georgia pic's have so much greenery in them. Have a wonderful weekend with family, nylene. Glad you got to chat with gramma and let us know that she is feeling well enough to get back to a normal routine. The book club gathering went wonderfully. We had stir fry for supper with all fresh garden veggies. justjac brought a refreshing strawberry drink, and someone else brought a delectable chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. Our normal genre of book is Cozy Mystery, but this month we had decided to try something a little different. We read the first book in the Slough House series, Slow Horses. I had read the whole series earlier, but reread the first book for last night. Had planned to only Google the characters and plot summary to familiarize myself with the book, but ended up reading the whole novel again. It was MUCH more enjoyable than the write ups about it. woodysbetty, did I see that you had "liked" one of my posts somewhere on the board recently? Would love to hear how you are doing? Enjoying your retirement community? Are you scrapping at all?

linda I love your pages of Georgia! That looks like an amazing trip. Also the pictures of your feline scrap assistants are hilarious. kitbop I hope you are enjoying your vacation. I lived in New York for almost 10 years (college, grad school, and then a few more years after). I wish I had caught on to your nyc plans earlier to give you some recommendations but I’m sure you are doing lots of fun things. kellyr21 sounds like a lovely beach getaway. The whole coast is beautiful of course, but I am partial to the drive up to Santa Barbara. Takes my breath away every time! To answer some questions, nylene yes my mom will be coming back for the birth of the baby. She plans on staying to help us post-partum. grammadee I’m not resigning, just maternity leave. I get 4 weeks before my due date, and then 18-20 weeks after the birth (depending on delivery type). I’m planning on going back to work after the holidays, and if I have some time left over, to use it later in the summer. The baby is currently breech, and hasn’t felt like flipping despite my best efforts, so they are scheduling me a c-section with the chance of cancelling it should baby decide to turn head-down.

grammadee - your book club meeting sounds delicious! I'll have to see if my library has that series scrappyrabbit - for America, that's a very generous maternity leave - I'm glad it's available to you (and that you can choose when/how to use it). Good luck with baby flipping. My first was transverse and flipped at the very last minute so there is hope. We drove over to the city (almost 2hrs) last night to have dinner with DS31. Went to Steak and Shake because he had been craving it and there isn't one local to him. It sure has changed since my last visit there - ordering is 100% on a kiosk and their menu has shrunk significantly. DS enjoyed his burger and milkshake though so that was good. Made for a late night for us though. I'll miss being able to see him occasionally on detachment when he changes duty stations next Spring - his new position won't go on detachment regularly as it's a shore duty posting.

Good Morning Pokey's! nylene thanks for the update on gramma . I wasn't sure if she was back to work or not, and haven't wanted to be a bother so haven't reached out to her. I LOL'd at your son saying he won't let you be buried with your parents lol. kellyr21 your vacation sounds relaxing! I love exploring little places that are full of galleries and have a vibrant downtown/art district. I also love the beach lol. grammadee book sounds wonderful! Is DGS in school yet? I know we all had this discussion a few weeks ago, but I don't remember who start early and who starts later lol. Linda , your pages are great! Beautiful photos and I love that family photo of you all in your crowns. I may have commented a little further up already, but I'm looking at everyone's pages again, a little closer Dusty is adorable. Poor Abby, the way I have my craft space set up now, she doesn't have a way to jump up to the table to get in the middle of things lol. scrappyrabbit , that's awesome that you have such a good maternity plan! Hopefully that will become the norm here. I have no advice about a breech birth - (not that you are asking LOLOLOL) but I did have two c-sections. My best advice there (hahaha, again not that you asked lol) is to make yourself get up and move, you'll feel better faster:) I can't wait to see all the sweet baby layouts you'll be making! Rudy started school, and I went to his mom's FB page to steal a first day of school photo. She had posted saying "he loves 3rd grade, but no pictures because he is anti-social media" lol. And he really is. If I'm lucky enough to get a good picture of him, he always says "Don't put it on FB" which I don't really use anymore lol. I'm sure dad has a pic too, he isn't great about sending me pics without prompting. It's going to be super hot for the next 5 days and I'm so over this heat. I know kitbop doesn't want me wishing summer away, but bring on the cool weather! I'm ready. Not sure what this weekend will bring, as it's a Rudy weekend. He hasn't been here for a sleepover in awhile, so we'll see if that's where we end up. Otherwise I'm going to try and get some more done on my sketchtember samples. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Good Saturday morning, Pokeys. Have a great weekend with Rudy, joyfulnana. I had Mikey here all day Thursday and will have him again on this upcoming Tuesday. Dd found a day home in our local town and he likes it there, but insists on one day a week at the farm LOL. On Thursday, he put together a few pages about their trip to see his dad in his SNAP album. I will put together a collage of them on my iphone and post it here. He doesn't start school until September. Hoping you are having a wonderful time with family, nylene. No one here this weekend but us mice. I plan to do something exciting like prep and freeze the veggies dgs and I picked on Thursday. Feels so much like fall today. When we were first married, I would come out and help with veggie harvest every August, and I remember we had to get all the above ground stuff picked by mid August. It would be hot the beginning of the month, then start raining, and then we would get a big frost. Yesterday and all night it rained, and it is really chilly this morning. Makes me wonder if I should be picking green tomatoes... Waving hi to kitbop and scrappyrabbit, and gramma and all the other Pokeys who may check in here.

I'm home! What a packed 9 days that was. scrappyrabbit - I do wish I had got some recommendations from you before we saw NYC! I think we did well: we covered 26.8 km ON FOOT (google says that's 16.65 miles) on day 1, and only 18 km (11.2 miles) on day 2. We made it from the Battery up to mid central park in exploration and across the Brooklyn Bridge. We did 2 days in the finger lakes (Watkins Glen, Ithaca), 3 nights in Boston and 3 nights in Hoboken (travelling to NYC each day). Spent an extra night in Eastern NY to cut the drive down on the way home. What an adventure. Jam-packed with memories, jaw dropping sights (for us yokels!), taste-bud stimulating food... it was all wonderfully overwhelming. My first brain shake leads me to say: Every time I saw a courthouse (and we saw a LOT of courthouses. almost as many courthouses as graveyards ) it made me think of @meribethr Watkins Glen: natural beauty beyond all - and free? OK! Ithaca: has the best ice cream. Purity. No question. Boston: seriously safe feel to this city! Loved wandering around after dark. Mike's cannoli. I've had plenty of Canadian/Italian cannoli and I've never been a convert until now. Yale: what what what? It is so gorgeous! We saw Cornell, Harvard and Yale on this trip, but I know where I'm attending in my next life Hoboken: what a view of NYC. Carlo's Bakery - the original "cake boss" location on TV. Didn't realize until our last day how famous it was...but they were our favourite bakery of the trip and their cannoli - equal to Mikes (but smaller and more expensive) NYC: visual overload. such varied experiences around every corner. The Met? Can I just say: it chewed us up and spat us out with aching brains and only having got through about 1/3 of it. I saw Van Gogh's "Starry Night" from 12 inches. Wow. I have to read through the thread and catch up with you all. scrappyrabbit - I'm glad you are looking forward to a decent mat leave! grammadee - how sweet that Mikey needs his weekly dose of the farm! And I have to think that his drive to keep a scrapbook is exceptionally good for his development! nylene - *thank you* for the update on gramma. I'm glad she is mending. Hope your fingers are doing well? That picture of Hailey is what I imagine YOU looked like as a baby! joyfulnana - came home to your card! Oh thank you for the hug - I appreciated it very much Linda - your epic trip layouts feel epic - right from the beaming group photo of the first layout it feels like a real family adventure. I bet you're gonna have fun reliving the trip while you scrap it! Do you have "shake shack" in Florida? We'd never seen them before Boston, and DH enjoyed a burger and a couple of shakes there... and then, when we got on the road to NYC we realized they are EVERYWHERE in that part of the country. Fast food for sure, but the shakes are "real" which makes DH happy. kellyr21 - glad you had a good little trip too! If I ever get photos printed (I haven't printed Disney yet!) I will have enough to scrap for the rest of my life! But this trip I did keep a basic journal which will help when I scrap!

I'm almost back in fighting form. My sister has been here for a few days to break in the guest room in the new house. My hand will not require surgery or even a hard cast. The Dr. put me in one of those hand splint thingies with instructions to take it off a few times a day and exercise it. Does typing to my friends count as exercise? My position at work is changing to a consultant status. I'm pretty OK with that. I'm moved into the new house and beginning to feel settled. It's very different - the old house is larger and all done in darker colors. This one is all light with windows all across the front that look out into an olive orchard. I should be able to glue some paper on paper in another week or so. There is no grip strength and very little fine motor skill in the hand.
So -

Really glad to hear that your hand should self repair gramma! Yes, typing is excellent exercise truthfully! Glad you are feeling more settled in your new digs, although I'm sure you will never feel attached to it as you were to your house. Light and windows is very appealing tho - that's what I'm looking for in our next house! Are you expecting a lot of rain with the tropical storm? kellyr21 - are you guys safe and sound? So many weather disasters in the news these days, it's hard to keep up and I did a double take when I read "hurricane in Los Angeles" this morning - what? Sandals or tennis shoes - depends on how far I'm walking. I own a few pairs of both and both are my favourites Shorts or "not on your life!!" - shorts ever day that I can! Go to the movies or Watch at home - watch at home Popcorn - buttered or plain - I'm worried about you gramma. Does this for real need answering? BUTTER.

gramma- glad you are settling in and healing up. Sandals or tennis shoes - I prefer sandals but my feet prefer supportive athletic shoes Shorts or "not on your life!!" - No shorts for me...they look very 'dorky' with compression socks Go to the movies or Watch at home - neither mostly. I'm not much of a movie person Popcorn - buttered or plain - neither Hope all our California pokies are staying safe and dry

Good to hear from you, gramma ! Love your choice of hand exercise. Listen to kitbop . She says it is excellent! And a belated 🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎂 In my head it was today, but I missed it by four whole days!
Thinking you will be north of the main storm front? I am worried about kellyr21 in LA and my nephew & family who live in San Diego. Sandals or tennis shoes Shorts or " not on your life!!" I prefer Bermuda to "pedal pusher" length. But don't think of either of these as "shorts". Go to the movies or Watch at home If I could afford it, I would watch all movies in the theatre. But almost always wait for them to be available on the tube. Popcorn - buttered or plain. Hello! Why else would you make the popcorn?

Happy Sunday! Storm wise, we are are fine in my area. Just mild rain and hopefully not much more. Staying in this weekend just relaxing. Ms is having a special jewelry making week of daily classes. It started yesterday and will go all week. I just like seeing new crafts and how they do it. So today, I had two classes. I learned about polymer clay and resin. nylene- I hope you are enjoying your get togethers. Yes, I will post some pics of my sketches. My Tuesday class has really been a good challenge for me. We have 6 minutes to draw whatever pic she post and we do 10 in our time. Whew! kitbop- Man, what a trip! That sounds like a trip of a lifetime. I am so glad you were able to get away and see some incredible sites. SO COOL! Thanks for sharing the highlights with us. I hope to go to NYC one day. Glad you both had a great time. grammadee- Looks like your scrapbooking gene is going to the next generation. He did a great job! joyfulnana- We must be related! LOL! We both dislike the heat and love the beach. I am glad we had cooler temps the last few days and I am so over the Summer heat, too! We have been watching preseason football and my dh is happy. Also, I love track and field, so I have been watching the World Championships happening all this week until next Sunday. linda- SO glad you were able to spend time with your son.

Fun travel pages, Linda. You scrap such interesting photos! Busy week coming up. Today I plan to make a canner full of mustard relish. I have all the veggies in the fridge--need to cut up, put through the food processor, make the sauce, then heat everything before sealing in jars. Probably should have started already, but the house was quiet with dh in town this morning, so I decided to scrap a LO instead LOL. Bee Happy by Gramma Dee, on Flickr We have Mikey for the day tomorrow. He wants to work on his Washington book and make paper dragon puppets and... In the middle of that I need to go into town for my B12 shot. Wednesday is dh's appointment for the cortisone shot in his hip. I need to drive him to the clinic (just over an hour away). Hoping he will be able to tolerate the journey back home. Friday we are making a big batch of borscht at my sister in law's, so Thursday I will be gathering veggies from our garden for that. Okay. off to the kitchen to get busy!
