We went through almost six bags of mini candy bars. We had dum dum suckers as a back up. My favorite were the youngest kids. There was this t-rex who methodically kept putting candy in his bucket. His mom was so embarrassed. I said it's okay, he's little. If it was the teens I'd be annoyed. There was a brother and sister who had squishmallow costumes. I yelled inside to my daughter, because she loves them. The girl heard her response and she said, "Tell your daughter, I say hi!" I started watching Wellington Paranmormal but forgot about some of the icky gore and probably PG-13 content. I switched to watching The Twilight Zone. In between all of that, my son got sick. He had a seizure earlier in the afternoon. A fairly rough day for him, so I kept him home today. Of course he seems just fine now.

We had a set of 2-yr-old twin boys stop by here last night, one dressed as Woody and the other as Buzz Lightyear. They were ADORABLE!!!! Buzz tried to give us the candy out of his bucket. The parents were trying to explain to him that we were giving him candy, and he didn't need to give candy back to us. LOL!!
We had a lot of teenagers. Very cool costumes and all such nice, polite kids, telling us thank you and wishing us a Happy Halloween. I love seeing kids of all ages out having fun.

It was a good evening. In between all of that, my son got sick. He had a seizure earlier in the afternoon. A fairly rough day for him, so I kept him home today. Of course he seems just fine now. This sounds awful. Glad he's better now.

It’s only our second year to go trick or treating with little Pancakes. And I have to say, it’s so much more fun with her.
It snowed and sleeted here yesterday and we still went through 22 pounds of candy. That’s three Costco bags of chocolate, a 300 pack of Dum Dums, and a half bag of Haribo candies. Almost $100 in candy 😅. I guess we need to save up for next year because we probably would’ve run out earlier had the weather been nicer.
Where we used to live, we got zero trick or treaters because we lived on a main road instead of a neighborhood. Now we get SO many.
Excited to do a mini album this year.

We had about 40-50 trick or treaters last night. A lot more older kids than toddlers this year.
Overall it was a pleasant experience. We handed out Pokemon cards and candy and they went over really well. A few kids even asked for extra booster packs! 😆
The only issue I really had was the last set of kids. The girl (probably 7) actually pushed past me after I opened the door to try and grab more candy after I had already given her some treats. She entered my house and everything! Luckily her slightly older brother corrected her and she did apologize, which I appreciated. Their parents were sitting in their car the entire time, doing their own thing...
After that I turned off the porch light and closed up shop, right around 9pm.

all such nice, polite kids, telling us thank you and wishing us a Happy Halloween. I love seeing kids of all ages out having fun. I had to push most of the kids to take a chocolate bar AND a bag of chips. Most of them were so polite they assumed they had to only choose one. We only had a couple of kids who were a little overeager. It snowed and sleeted here yesterday and we still went through 22 pounds of candy. That’s three Costco bags of chocolate, a 300 pack of Dum Dums, and a half bag of Haribo candies. Almost $100 in candy 😅. Where we used to live, we got zero trick or treaters because we lived on a main road instead of a neighborhood. Now we get SO many. It's crazy how different it can be in different neighborhoods! I remember my SIL panicking the first year in her community. She went through at least 4 giant bags of candy too. I see people able to sit outside and have a steady stream of visitors and feel quite envious (it reminds me of ET, lol, all those kids roaming wild). We opened the door maybe 10-12 times in 2.5 hours? Good weather here, but a school night, and only a few neighbors decorated. You better stock up next year!!

I went through the Halloween photos and I have 7 to print. They will be long and skinny and hang from a string along with other banner things.
Hope it all fits.
My two favorite photos are the screenshots of my daughter's instagram and my niece's instagram. They won't sent me photos but I got them anyway. Ha!!! My SIL lives in our neighborhood and our kids are good friends and have mostly the same friend group in school -- kids from the neighborhood and people we've known since they were in daycare together. It's good. I'm so freaking lucky.
These books really help me to see that.

OMG, I forgot. Paige Evans posted an instagram story on Halloween saying she was designing her very first Halloween collection! American Crafts 2024. Can't wait.
I also finished my Oct. Daily today and took photos. It was still bright out so I took advantage of the light.
I was not in the mood to document once I got started but then I realized I don't post to instagram to get likes because I could not care less. I like looking back at my stuff.
I don't think I ever shared WITL and I might pull that out at some point and take some photos.

We don't get trick or treaters at our house so I knew to text the neighbors to check if they'd like us to stop by. I thought with them being on the corner and having their light on, that they might be prepared. Apparently my kids were the first trick or treaters they'd had in 20 years! LOL They threw together treat bags and say they'll be prepared for us next year. I should probably mention that the kids are gluten free. My husband enjoyed the cookies!
I was surprised by how many houses wanted the kids to go inside to get their treats. That seemed really weird to me.

If you aren't out, the kids don't bother you. No one was knocking on doors even with the lights on. Oh no, that’s totally different here! You have to knock on the door but no one comes inside. No one waits outside for trick or treaters to my knowledge unless they’re hardcore. One of my neighbors years ago had music, scary sounds, fog, and was lurking outside in a costume, but that was very very out of the ordinary. For a couple of years my other neighbor did the pandemic candy chute which the kids loved. If you have decorations and lights on kids will knock, but I would only expect a kid to come inside if they didn’t understand not to.

My husband was very excited that we had one kid who recited the whole “trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat!” He says knocking on doors is part of the thrill, and a good rite of passage, although these days I don’t know. In some places and for some people it’s very scary. And the only people who knock on our door now are letting us know they’ll “be in the area tomorrow doing some extermination for your neighbor,” maybe we’re interested too? My husband interrupts them and repeatedly says “it’s a public street, you don’t need to tell us,” which discombobulates them.

For a couple of years my other neighbor did the pandemic candy chute which the kids loved. We still do this. We had kids this year who remembered it from before and were very excited. Unfortunately the candy I bought was bigger and did not fit down the pipe! Next year I have to go back to smaller candy so it won't get stuck. My husband and daughter took a milk jug and cut it into the face of a snake and glued in teeth. She had some sort of coding kit and they made blinking eyes. It's fun for the kids.

I'm still sorting photos and supplies. I spent so much time DOING things in October, that the scrapping had to wait.
I can say that it was a swell month full of activities and we are still trying to decide which was our favorite. I did make my cover though and I love its simplicity, though I think it sets a creepier tone than the actual contents will reflect.

I'm sorry I wasn't around much for the thread. October was a very busy month at work. But thankfully I got my Halloween decorations put away and time to print all my journaling andu pics today. I got everything out and am ready to begin putting things together.

Wanted to show day 29 28. I used a card that came in the mail from the swap as well as a shaker ghost. I did remove the foam and backing of the ghost to thin it down and have it popping out if the house. The house lifts up to reveal one of the houses decorated and one of dd in front of the house. The back of the paper covered chipboard page has some swap goodies.
