I really prefer it closed for noise reasons if I live with others, feeling more safe, and to contain dogs (sometimes inside bedroom with us, sometimes not in bedroom with us).
Asshole Beagle woke us up wanting in at 4 this morning. Moaning and bitching as only a Beagle can. 🤨

Closed. I've raised 3 boys so always kept it closed. I still have an 18 year old DS in the house so I still keep it closed. Once I have no kids in the house, I'm not sure what I'll do.

I leave my door mostly closed, to keep it dark. I have found I need to leave it open a little to keep it cooler.

Depends. Mostly open or 1/2 way. Our dog starts sleeping with me when I go to bed but he doesn't last long (probably gets to hot) and he heads back downstairs within an hour. He's kinda restless and I think he comes in and out all night.

It's just DH and me at home now, and the dog, but he naturally sleeps where we are. I leave the door open for air circulation. I always feel like it gets too hot and stuffy if the door is closed. Even when the kids were home, I'd leave it open.

I go to bed first; DH is watching the late news in the living room, just down the hall. I close the door because of the TV noise and also for the darkness. When he comes to bed, he leaves it open, probably so the dog can come in. She usually sleeps on the floor beside him. Then, after I get up during the night to go pee, I close it again. Just habit, I guess.

Closed because firemen recommend it to stop spread in the event of fire

Now that it's just me and dh we keep it opened. When the kids were little we also kept it opened. -- But, when I'm home alone I keep it closed and locked when dh travels. I've seen enough "Criminal Minds" to know that the middle of the night is prime time for serial killers to sneak into houses where the woman is home alone.

DH and I sleep with our door open because we have 2 kids and 3 cats and want to be able to hear the house at night.
My kids sleep with their doors closed because of noise/fire.

We have 2 doors. One that leads into a hallway for the orher bedrooms. And a door into the bathroom, but the bathroom has another door that leads into the kitchen (not a true master bath). When kids were growing up, we left them open. We close both now, because we have a small dog that sleeps in our room. He’s forced to wake us up to take her outside. If we leave a door open, she’ll get lazy and go inside the house.

About 3/4 of the way closed. We need to be able to hear the kids. Our doors are oretty hefty and when closed 100% it is hard to hear chatter from other areas of the house.

It varies/both. I like it open because the master bedroom has the only upstairs AC and it keeps the rest of the upstairs colder if the door is open.
Closed because if one of the kids gets up at night, the hallway light wakes me up...
We don't have any pets that need in or out, and DS is 10 and doesn't crawl into my bed in the middle of the night anymore.

Open to maximize airflow. Our AC doesn’t do a great job in our bedroom.

Closed because I sleep with my dog and he'd be running the house at 3am if the door was open. Also, I come from a long line of firemen who always suggested it was safer to sleep with a closed door.

Closed. My house has three other people in it and can be a bit bright and noisy. Even if I’m alone I close it.

Open so Scouty can get up and roam as he wishes. If I am home alone, it's closed and locked. If others are here staying with us, closed.

Open. Dates back to when I was a child and I couldn't make out, in the pitch dark, where the door was, no bedside light. In my half sleep mode I worked my way around the walls until I found a handle and opened the door but still there was no light. I pulled and pushed on the door and then realised it was the wardrobe as it began to topple over onto me. There might have been shouting.
My dad came through the door, light on and righted the wardrobe. Yeah, since then, door open.

I have always slept with it open since I had kids. I just wanted to be able to hear them if they needed me or got sick in the middle of the night. I recently saw a tik tok by a fireman that showed why you should sleep with your door closed. If there is a fire, it spreads faster if you have your doors open.

Open. It's just DH and me but even when DS visits, we leave it open. Especially when it's warm because the Quiet Cool whole house fan is on and we need the door open for it to work.

Open, normally, unless I have guests. I know that you Should close them but we never did when growing up.
I also live alone and I like to be able to hear what is going on in my house. That is also one of the reasons I do not put an air conditioner in my bedroom.
I also like light and waking up to light, so no shades or curtains for me. I never had them as a kid either.

Open. We have a two-story house with all the bedrooms upstairs and it can get pretty warm up there if you close the doors. Plus we have dogs and they come and go.
