I don't even know what to say about that interview. The exercise following the interview was made up of two financial story problems. So I know that went well. I'm very confident about that aspect of it.
But I'm a bit disappointed in the interview itself. First of all, I thought their questions were way too broad and not targeted enough. I tried to answer them broadly, then distill the questions down into specifics. One of the four interviewers was able to ask me follow ups for clarity on two questions and I felt like that wasn't a good thing that I apparently didn't make my answer specific enough. I actually made kind of a joke about it being a "big question" and everyone laughed. So that seemed good. All-in-all I felt like I got out a lot of words but I was shooting in the dark without a clear target. And one thing that I think may have turned them off to me is that they had asked about a situation wherein I was integral in developing a policy and the example I gave them horrified them that it wasn't a policy until I actually began monitoring the account. So I'm afraid it reflected badly on me that my company is mismanaging something and I am trying desperately to correct it. I'm afraid that example made us look incredibly bad and that wasn't my intention. It was my intention to show that I'm trying to use my position to make improvements.
Anyway, I'm unsure what to make of this interview.

It sounds like you did a great job in spite of their too-broad questions.
I don't think it's a bad thing that your example showed that you were identifying problems at your current job and developing policies to fix things! That's the truth and maybe it reflects badly on your organization but it shows that YOU were integral in developing a policy that probably the higher ups should have put in place a long time ago.
If I were interviewing you, I would be impressed with that example!

Thanks for updating us! I think it's always hard to judge how much their reaction is about a situation vs you - so just throw that out of your mind! I hope you get some positive feedback soon!

Hugs!! I would bet it went better than you think. I tend to worry and overthink things. I had an interview that I felt like I was stumbling through, when I left I was sure I'd bombed it. 2 days later I recieved an offer and accepted.
On the flip side...How did you like the company? Does it sound like a position and place you'd make the change for?

If I were interviewing you, I would be impressed with that example! Yeah, I don't know what to make of it. The reaction I got just threw me back. I guess I almost didn't realize how horrifying it was until it was out of my mouth and the look on their faces was just... I don't even know. I just felt like I couldn't get any traction in this interview. I always like when an interview feels like a conversation, kwim? That I can establish a connection in a way that doesn't feel like they are lobbing fire bombs at me and I'm unsure of where to turn to put them out. I discussed it with Jeremy and he just doesn't feel like it went as bad as I'm feeling it did. I'm just reviewing it trying to figure out what I can take from it to move forward. They said they would be making a decision quickly.

How did you like the company? Does it sound like a position and place you'd make the change for? Yes, actually I did. I asked some pretty targeted questions regarding their company. So I think I got all my questions answered. And the interviewers came across well to me. So I think that I'd be alright working with them. If offered, I'd take it.

You are for sure over analyzing this, but if you weren't, I would think you were off your game. Analyzing is what you do, and it serves you well.
I look forward to their speedy decision telling you to come on board. After that I wish you a position where you are utilized to your fullest potential, and feel like you are making a difference in a company that will see you thru until retirement.

Did the company happen to say when call backs would be or when they plan to make their decision?
