I just saw a tiktok of a first grade teacher secretly recording a chorus of little girls in her class singing a TS song. She writes that she's always played instrumentals of TS songs in the background while the class independently worked, but this time a little girl recognized the song and started singing Anti Hero, only to have all the other little girls in class gushed that they loved Taylor and they all started singing while they worked. Cutest thing ever. @kattk13 is the TT if you want to see it. So freaking cute. I saw that and got tears. It's adorable.

I'm not a Swiftie (too old) but really like her music and frequently have it low around my office or house. My husband and I were talking about her and he was convinced that he wouldn't know any of her songs. I pulled up her catalog on Apple music and he kept saying, "I've heard that." "I didn't know that was her." Etc. There were maybe 3-4 songs he had never heard.
She does a really great job at reaching all age groups.

Hey I'm 55 and I am pretty close to being a Swiftie.. hahaha.. I have a Swiftie mom tee shirt.. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I was watching a TT on how some of the kids who were picked to get the famous 22 hat at each concert.. it was very moving. One guy she actually "stole" his moves.. apparently she saw him on TT or YT (whatever it was) and he had some kind of hand flipping move when he dances and she borrowed that for her routine. So they picked him for one. Another one had a story, she has cancer, and Taylor or her team found her (I can't remember what she was doing in her videos) but invited her to get a hat. I believe there was only one celebrity kid, Kobe Bryant's young daughter, who she already knew, also got invited.

Google Taylor Swift and Food Banks.
I am not a big fan of her music but I am a fan of her as a person.

I am not a Swiftie, and I don't like some of her earlier music, but.... I do love Taylor Swift! lol. I agree with all the positive things people have said on this thread so I won't retype them. The reason I don't like some of her earlier music is that I SO much prefer her more mature voice.... it's in a lower register now, more mellow...I just like it so much more. I'm an alto though, so I might be biased. Here are some of my favorite Taylor Swift stories: 1. Driving a van full of pre-teen girls to her concert in Washington, DC many years ago. The excitement level was just through the roof. lol. I dropped them all off for what was their very first concert without a parent waiting outside or in the parent area. Another parent picked them up, and apparently the excitement level on that trip home was even more than on our way to the concert. 2. Subbing in 4th grade earlier this year. The kids had an assignment to pick two subjects that they thought they'd like to research and write about. They only had to write on one but the teacher suggested they find two just in case the first one didn't appeal to them as much later on. One little girl had only one on her card. Taylor Swift. I asked her why she didn't have a second one and she said "Oh I know I won't change my mind. I love Taylor Swift! My dream is to go to one of her concerts." I told her that my dd had just flown to California (from here in Northern Virginia, lol) with two friends, to meet a third friend there and to attend the recent Taylor Swift concert. This little girl's eyes got SO BIG as she just stared at me. She said "your DAUGHTER flew by herself to see Taylor Swift? ?" lol. I reminded her that my daughter was an adult now, and that she has her first real job that pays well. She saves some of her money but for the first time she has money to do fun things with, without worrying. This girl looked at me and said "I'm going to get a real job too some day and then I'll go see Taylor Swift." lol. I said I was sure she would be able to do that. 3. My dd has had the best time telling me about all the reactions to Taylor dating that football player. Apparently he.... or his brothers?... or some other football players... have a podcast and after the Taylor/Kelce thing came out they had all these girls calling in to ask things like "what is a field goal?" and "who throws the ball?" etc. Questions that most of us know the answer to even if we don't really like football. haha 4. During the height of the pandemic, before vaccines, dd came out of her room (she was still living here then because she lost her job due to covid) looking at her phone to say "Mom! Taylor Swift is up to something!" Taylor had posted something that led dd to think maybe she was releasing a new song. Dd went back to her room, and then a bit later I suddenly heard a shriek. "MOM!!! TAYLOR SWIFT HAS RELEASED AN ENTIRE NEW ALBUM!!" lol. She didn't tell anyone, and put the whole thing together while she was in lockdown with the rest of the world. A lovely surprise for all her fans. 5. I love that there are so many different age groups that attend her concerts, and that everyone is so nice to everyone else. At least this is what dd reports. All the older girls and women who attend will compliment the little girls on their outfits, everyone trades bracelets, etc. 6. A friend of mine does freelance preaching (he's a retired church pastor) and he often asks his Facebook hive to recommend songs on a particular theme, depending on what he's preaching. He recently asked for break-up songs, and I know that's a theme of Taylor Swift's. So I asked dd, and about .2 seconds later she texted me a list with her commentary. lol. So I copied the list to my friend (who knows my dd well), and he replied back "oh yes, I was hoping C. would come through for me." hahahaha (And no, I don't yet know what scripture it is that he's preaching on that goes along with break-up songs. I need to ask him. hahaha) Anyway, those are just some fun things that popped into my head as I read this thread.

I'm not on Tik Tok so I texted dd and said "not sure if you've seen this, but if not go check it out, and please send me the link." I hardly had time to breathe and dd had sent it to me. "Mom, of course I've seen that Tik Tok! It's in my favorites." hahaha And, very cute. I love hearing kids singing, and I love that so many of them knew the words.

I have to admit I have never heard her sing.
The only thing that has caught my attention about her is she seems to have a problem wearing coats and jackets as it always seems one side is hanging down her arm instead of sitting on her shoulder. Is that a thing?
But each to their own.

My only issue with her is related to the environment and her traveling so much by private jet. I understand the schedule challenges and security concerns, and I’m not certain what she could even do to change it, but it would be nice if she could make a concerted effort to reduce her number of trips. Her carbon footprint is out of control.

I'm a 51-year-old Swiftie. I enjoy the music, and I've appreciated many things people have said in this thread. I also want to point out that, in addition to registering voters, she has put herself out there politically by taking stances on things (LGBTQ+ allyship, Trump as an autocrat) that risked alienating parts of her fan base (doesn't seem to have hurt her, that's for sure), so she isn't a performer who has never thought about politics.
That said, I don't have any indication she plans to run for office, or any indication that anyone is seriously asking her to be a political leader. Not sure why we'd need to debate it.

She’s just good wholesome fun and I love it! I’d rather hear about her than the Kardashians. My adult daughter does not care for her but agreed to go see her in the theater with me next week and I’m looking forward to it.

Thinking about it, she wore a few different coats on her tour, and it seems maybe a few were off her shoulders, I don't really remember.

She can't very well just go to the airport and jump on a plane. It is a concern but until technology can figure it out, what other choice would she (or whoever) have.

I am not a big fan of her music but I am a fan of her as a person. Same here. I loved all the excitement I saw from people going to see her - it was all so honest and wholesome and looked like everyone was just enjoying the positive atmosphere at her concerts. You have never heard any song by her? Never? Ever? I know one song - "Shake it Off" but only because I happened to see Dwayne Johnson "singing" it on Lip Sync Battle when I was channel surfing one day. I had to google the singer Rock is my music of choice so Taylor's music doesn't show up on the channels I listen to on Sirius or on my playlists. I greatly respect her many talents; it just isn't my genre.

It's an expression that means the most popular person at a particular time. Someone else will come along eventually. That's just effing insulting. She's only gotten more and more popular for nearly two decades, and she is only 33. That is a VERY long career in the modern entertainment environment and for it to be a steady upward trajectory is rarer still. Her career is impressive, full stop. Why demean her just because she's not your cup of tea? I like her music just fine but am definitely not a Swiftie. I *am* a huge fan of her as a business person. She's nearly a self-made billionaire (the ethics of billionaires existing are for another post). The way she's circumvented most traditional media outlets for many years now because she's more effective at reaching her fans directly than they are (e.g., promos for the current film which opened to nearly $100 million in ticket sales its first weekend) is fascinating. The Eras Tour looks like it's going to be the highest grossing tour of all time (and that doesn't take into account the resale tickets). The whole Taylor's Version phenomenon - it is *remarkable* what she's been able to pull off there. And she seems to treat her teams well along the way - as others have noted, she gave very generous bonuses to her entire tour company at the end of the first leg of the tour. There's also an older interview with David Letterman where he was laughing about the idea of backup singers/dancers having health insurance like it was absurd and she said, "Well, mine do." and he was absolutely flummoxed. You don't have to like her music but to dismiss her as a passing trend or just a pretty girl with nice clothes is ridiculous. I didn't do any of those things, I didn't even say whether I like her music or not. Artists influence wanes over time, that's all I meant. Fuck me this place sometimes.

I tend to like/listen to songs from my younger days, Since there isn’t much on tv today I have been listening to some of my CDs. So far Andy Williams & Michael Jackson. I’m listening to the Righteous Brothers now. Once that’s done it will be Neil Diamond & Creedence Clearwater and maybe Roberta Flack. I admit I don’t see many pictures/videos of Swift but when I do it seems one side of her jacket is always down on her arm are and I find myself wanting to straighten it out.

Why is it so hard to believe people have never heard Taylor Swift? I’ve got nothing against her—in fact I think she is awesome for getting fans to register to vote. I have heard one of her songs—Shake It Off—but done by Charli XCX. I went to Spotify to listen to the highest played of her songs and recognized nothing. Our grocery store either plays 50s rock or death metal after the managers go home, LOL. I don’t listen to commercial radio. I really don’t like the current vocal style of pop music. Now you dang kids get off my lawn!

I taped it for my daughters because I knew they'd get a kick out of it.

Why was the fact that she is dating some football player such a big freakin' deal? She will date him for a few months and then they will break up. I'd also like to comment on this, because it seems to be a big sticking point on a lot of posts (not necessarily OPs). T-Swizzle is in her early 30s and just got out of a 6-year relationship. She is not a serial dater and even if she were? Why should that matter? Oh, I know, so she can make her next song. Except she's been coming up with those stories for years, whether in a relationship or not. Do I care about Travis Kelce? Nah, even though we live in KC. It's been mostly fun to see them linked together. The only people who ruin it? The haters who keep wanting to cry about "their game" being ruined. I wasn't always a big fan, but I'm firmly in the Swifties wagon and anyone who wants to can sit next to me. As for "saving the world"? If we had more people who had her celebrity or stage do what she does? The world just might be fucking saved.

I'm sure if you were running a world tour and so popular you had to have a security detail, you'd be taking public transportation to reduce your carbon footprint. 🙄

In a similar vein, I would love for all those who like her for being "a good businesswoman" to think about how they feel about the Kardashians. You never really hear that about them, just a lot of hate.
But back to Taylor: I will admit right now that I cannot hear Love Story, You Belong To Me, or Blank Space without singing along. And I love the line about karma is a cat purring in my lap because it loves me 😍💕 She has lots more of them that I enjoy when they're on the radio.
I wouldn't call myself a Swiftie but I have always appreciated her talent for writing songs that make girls smile. Maybe some boys too.

She tops the celebrity list for CO2 emissions by a long shot and has for years. And she’s had a dismissive attitude towards it in the past. It is not a “dis” to point out someone who isn’t concerned at all about the environment. I’m not commenting on a fashion choice or something insignificant. I admire her. I think she’s a good person and a great business person, which is why this is the only thing I would fault her for. And, like I said in my post, I understand she needs to fly private and she probably has to travel more than other celebs so naturally she’s going to fly more, but I think she could do more to reduce her overall carbon footprint.

Where ever she is appearing the trucks have to get there first, so road travel is possible. Although is backup personnel might fill more then a bus. Hotels are expensive. I've spent time on some pretty fancy tour busses that are fully equipped.

The Kardahsians have undeniably been very successful in business but I don’t know enough about them to know what they do vs what they put their name on, kwim? I find Taylor so fascinating because she’s been able to turn some things in the music and entertainment industries on their head, which have resulted in a lot of success for her and could have major ripple effects for others in the long run. Some of her successes could be a model for artists keeping more control on profit rather than studios, etc.

It's been fun watching the whole process of their romance. I hope some of the fervor dies down for them at some point. Will it last? Who knows - but they are two really awesome people.
I watch/listen to the New Heights podcast - which is the Kelce Brothers. It started long before the Taylor/Travis thing started... but it is pretty interesting to catch, even if you are not a huge football fan. The dynamic between the brothers, their parents, Jason's wife - it is amazing. Travis was talking to Jason about the documentary KELCE that primarily focuses on Jason and his football life. For the premier, he showed up in shorts.. thinking his wife was bringing his jeans to wear. But that didn't happen - and in the end Travis told him "maybe it was Jason who should have brought Jason's jeans", with Jason agreeing to that. But to me - it was a highly regarded male figure saying "Hey buddy, you need to deal with things in your life and not blame your wife or expect your wife to do everything for you" ... I really think there is a major shift in perceptions about rolls in family, etc.
I felt that even more when there was a recent post here by a Dad working the "I'm the Dad, don't expect me to know what to do" angle, that went over like a lead balloon. Times are changing, and for the better!

Difference between Kardashians and Swift.. TS doesn’t have a sex tape out there. Kardashians have good businesses (and I don’t feel like for a second they have all that much input to begin with) but they also have a lot of image stuff out there that makes me want to puke.
