Hi Pokeys Happy to be home. I'm sorry I missed the crops, sounds likes many of us were able to peak in. It was a quick trip (4 nights) and stressful, but everything is packed and out of my Mom's house except the piano now. Will likely be the last trip back. It was hard to say goodbye to my hometown and the house. We got home last night at 2:30AM, so I had a bleary day at work and will be heading to bed at about 7:30 I think! Linda- sorry your Thxgiving plans had to change. Your DH must be frustrated. We took our leaky cat to the vet last week for another try at diagnosing him. His eyes leak, and his guts leak... he is a sweet boy but gets uncomfortable (with gas) a lot of the time and he's just kinda nasty to take care of. But once again, his blood work and other diagnostics show nothing wrong! So we're doing another round of antibiotics and a diet change and see if we can help him. kellyr21 - if you encounter any "keeper" recipes with your classes you need to let us in on them! I love cooking, but we do get mired in routine. Example: while we were away, the kids made a supper together. Ribs, rice and garlic parmesan zucchini. I *love* zucchini myself, but never use it because DH doesn't prefer it. So I was shocked when I realized all 3 of the kids really like zucchini and I should have been cooking it all along. grammadee - did the glimmer machine play nice?

Oh no, Linda. That is so disappointing about Thanksgiving. I hate how I get set in my mind about all the fun we will have and then have someone's plans change. I hope your dh's eyes begin healing properly SOON. grammadee - did the glimmer machine play nice? Oh it played nice for everyone but ME. It does the foiling just fine. But I can't seem to remove the platform from the base. I didn't try to pry it loose like I had planned to, but that would be my next trick if I were left alone with it. The LSS lady helped me for awhile, and then justjac jumped up and pulled off the platform whenever I had something ready to run through her Big Shot. I left the machine and foils with her for the week to see if using it more will actually loosen it up like the Spellbinders demonstrator promised. Dh has appointments tomorrow for himself and his truck, so I hope to get a virtual crop going about 9:30 MST tomorrow. Anyone who is free is welcome to join me. I will start a thread on the General Papercrafting board and pop a link in there if I am successful. I had planned to be building a page or two, but might just end up doing more cards or fiddling with pieces to put on cards. Have not unpacked from the crop yet, and card making supplies seem to be right on top...

((((Hugs))) kitbop - I hope you get some rest and your memories of your mum and the house bring you comfort. Hopefully kitty is feeling better soon. garlic parmesan zucchini? do they have a recipe to share? I LOVE zucchini but Dh and the girls don't - BUT Dh will eat it if I make it so long as it's not too often grammadee - I'm sorry that your glimmer machine continues to be difficult - hopefully justjac can get it working better for you. I hope to join you tomorrow - seems like lately I only get to scrapbook when there's a crop and I missed the weekend ones. I am disappointed about Thanksgiving but it's just not safe for DH to drive that far so it is what it is. Guess I need to start thinking about a menu and finding a turkey... I'll be canning up my tomato sauce after dinner tonight - and then tomorrow, I'll start another batch. I think three batches will get me through my frozen tomatoes. Next week I think I'll make baked beans - we'll have some for dinner and I'll can the rest for another night. Might need to buy more canning jars - I gave most of mine to DS.

kitbop hugs. If some retail therapy would help, Kindred Stamps has a pre-order up for a Muppet Christmas Carol box. It has paper, stamps, a die, and probably a few other things. You can also add on the dies to match the stamps and the dies to match their previous regular Muppet set. Of course I bought it all. I am pretending the exchange rate doesn't exist. And really I can afford it, so I will ignore the voice that tells me I should watch my pennies. I had a great time at the crop with grammadee and our friends. I made/finished ten cards, and got the majority of a 6x8 October book done. Hopefully I will get the glimmer machine going tomorrow. I have Thursday and Friday off. Our bathroom renovation is underway, but it may take a bit longer than we hoped. They found some asbestos. Not really bad, like move out of the house and vacuum seal everything, but they do need to be careful removing it. Linda I'm sorry to hear about your travel plans. It's tough when recovery takes a long time. I think I'm finally getting over the cough I've had for a month!

oh man, Linda that's a bummer that you had to cancel your Thanksgiving plans. ((hugs)) Keeping fingers crossed for Christmas. How is Dorian doing? Is DD able to get some sleep? Hugs kitbop, I can't imagine how hard it must be saying goodbye to everything. I hope getting the piano out turns out to be easier than it sounds. Poor kitty, I hope he stops leaking soon. that's just a little concerning about the asbestos, but at least it's not move out now bad. Good luck with the reno! I'm finally getting over the cough and congestion I've had for a month as well. Whatever it is sure hangs on. kellyr21 thanks for the link, looks like lots of yummy stuff, and I'm interested in Thanksgiving in under an hour. I don't know how that could even be possible lol. I didn't know your DH was an Eagles fan, I thought he was a Rams fan. I hope we don't get a rematch of the Chiefs and Eagles in the SB, it will be so hard to watch Jason Kelce lose to his brother again lol. I am definitely putting the cart before the horse, there are some really good teams we will have to get past during the playoffs first lol. grammadee I hope the glimmer machine gets figured out. That is one rabbit hole I'm not willing to go down....YET lol. My weekend is jammed packed with scrapping and DGS lol. kitbop you up to host Friday or should I? 7-ish your time? I'm really liking the idea of a set crop time a week. So I'm planning to scrap Friday evening, Saturday is the second Saturday which is when my mom and 2 nieces crop together. Then shortly after we finish Rudy will be here for a sleep over lol. It's been awhile and we are both ready. And possibly Sunday too depending on what time Dad has practice.

update on DH's eyes - he's definitely looking at another surgery soon - in the meantime he has lifting and exertion restrictions and no nighttime driving. Also no travel until after surgery so - Christmas is also off the table as is his upcoming business trip. DS32 is looking at coming home for Thanksgiving with his sister and collecting their cats. It's not 100% though - he has to have the leave approved AND be back from his current TDY. And if he can come - it's going to be a brutal trip for him with a 12hr drive for just a couple of days here and then a 12hr drive back with cats all right after a 24+hr flight. So fingers crossed. He may or may not be stateside for Christmas so... justjac - enjoy your long weekend joyfulnana - Dorian has settled down some - he's still kind of noisy as it gets dark but not all night now - thankfully. Sounds like a busy weekend - looking forward to seeing you on the Friday crop.

I will open a crop at 6:30/7:00 EST joyfulnana gramma nylene Linda grammadee justjac kellyr21 knutschen cycworker. I am looking forward to scrapping after more than a week off, and we made shepherds pie tonight so we'll be set with leftovers for supper tomorrow! (I probably should now knock on wood. My boys have been known to destroy a shepherds pie for breakfast/lunch leftovers and I get a nasty surprise when I go to make supper that evening... I will lay down the law tonight to prevent that from happening!) Linda, I am devastated for your loss of travel and Christmas plans, let alone your poor DH now facing more surgery. What a worry The zucchini recipe is laughable - only kids would think it a recipe! It's just zucchini sauteed in garlic and butter with salt and pepper, and then real grated parmesan stirred in. I'm just really glad they are at the age where veggies are a welcome addition to a meal! justjac - I already own the Muppets set, so the Christmas set addition only makes sense, right??? joyfulnana - you need to do a layout called "Weekend with Rudy 2023" and do them for years past too (weekend with Rudy 2019, 2020, 2021...) because I know you've talked about how some things change, some things stay the same, and I bet you have lots of random pictures of those weekends and sleepovers that need to find a home in your scrapbook!

Thanks everyone - it'll be what it is. It does look like DS and DD will be able to come for Thanksgiving but probably only for 2 days - 3 at the most. And they are probably starting the drive after work so it'll be the wee hours of the morning before they arrive. If you pray - please keep DH in your prayers- this is incredibly hard for him and he's so frustrated, scared, and depressed.

Linda, I am so sad for you and your DH and the trials you are facing right now. Did the surgery fail, or is he just extremely slow in healing? I'm so sorry that he will have to have another one. And all your wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas plans being cancelled...my heart aches for you. I know how I look forward to having the kids here, and having it fall through is devastating. You and He are both in my prayers. ((Hugs))..and it's ok to cry! I hate to think your DS will be driving so long and so far when he may not be rested. kitbop, I'm sending hugs for the emotions that you must be having saying final goodbyes to your mother's place. I hope the piano is not as difficult as you are expecting. I'm glad you arrived safely home and found all well. Sounds like the kids do a good job fending for themselves. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow on the crop. justjac, I am sorry you have had that nasty cough for so long. Glad it is finally under control. I look forward to seeing more of the new things you have learned. You are so kind to help grammadee get her Glimmer going. I have been afraid to hop into that. Glad you had a good time together. grammadee, have you finished with all the canning and freezing of your harvest? Will you have family around again this weekend? We just bought 50# of good Idaho potatoes from a roadside stand and we are doing our best to use them. We have shared with Em but we still have a lot left. We don't have a root cellar so they just aren't cold enough in the basement. I think they will be fine for Thanksgiving, but not much longer. kellyr21, do you have plans with family or friends for Thanksgiving, or will it be just you and Ron? We will just have Em and family here this year. The other kids are going to inlaws. Has your weather cooled off? If not, I wish I could ship some of our cold nights on down to you!! LOL joyfulnana, I didn't realize you were still fighting your cough? You must have a had a nasty bug. I love the ideas of a book of memories of weekends with Rudy. Thanks for starting the crop tomorrow. I am planning to be free, I hope it works out. gramma, I look forward to seeing you tomorrow online. I don't have anything planned to do, but I can find something! I hope you are all settled into your new home even without the garage!! Are you working fewer days now? I ran over to the AC warehouse today to check out a sale on alcohol markers. I thought they were $20 for 48 markers, but it turned out there were 80 markers in a nice zippered container for $20. Em also got some for Alex for Christmas. He has been wanting some for quite a while. AC put out boxes of single sheets of Vicki Boutin, Shimelle, Paige and others' papers. I know that some of you who are "paper connoisseurs" would love to stand and go through the boxes. They were 10 sheets for $1. I stopped at 30 sheets, but only because my back was hurting too much to keep standing. LOL Hope to see lots of Pokeys on the crop tomorrow!

id the surgery fail, or is he just extremely slow in healing? I'm so sorry that he will have to have another one. I don't think anyone has used the word fail but there's a lot of blood and debris in his eye and the eye pressure is high and he just doesn't really have any vision in it. I think we were all hoping it was just slow healing but that doesn't seem to be the case. My (very limited) understanding is that they'll do an exploratory surgery and clean up what they can. They did say there's a 5% chance that they'll need to ?remove? the lens and then it'll be months before it can be replaced. I'm not really clear on all that. It's all very scary sounding to me and I just hope he'll be able to see better at the end of it all. And then he'll still need cataract surgery as well once this is all cleared up. Sounds like you've found some great bargains at the AC Warehouse sale. I'm sorry your back has been hurting so much - that's not fun Take it easy. Hope to see you (and everyone) tomorrow night on the crop.

Hey Pokeys hope everyone has been well!
I’ve been reading the boards on and off while I’m on my maternity leave. I haven’t been able to scrap hardly at all, but I did manage to finish my 6x8 pregnancy album. I am itching to scrap some of her newborn photos but we'll see when I get the time. Tomorrow is my birthday so I’m planning on sneaking away for a pedicure and then dinner.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey scrappyrabbit Happy Birthday! I hope it's a wonderful day! My kids were much older when I started scrapping, so I can only imagine how hard it would be to have sweet newborn pics that you just don't the time or energy to scrap. It's good to see you popping in!

Happy Birthday scrappyrabbit I would love an update on the wee one and how motherhood is going. The baby is doing very well. She is an extremely happy little girl, already giving us big smiles and interacting/cooing up a storm. She isn’t a huge sleeper, and she eats near constantly (breastfeeding) so it’s been physically demanding. She has gained in percentiles for weight and height though, so that’s encouraging! She likes going on walks in her stroller, so we’ve done a few outings to different outdoor areas that we can explore. For Halloween, she was a pumpkin! We went to a family party and got so many cute pics with all her cousins. Thanksgiving will probably be low-key, and for christmas we will be going up to where my parents live. My mom has been coming to stay with us for some of the weeks since she’s been born, so it’s helpful to have an extra set of hands. She will be babysitting while I go out tomorrow, and it will be my first time really leaving her home for more than an hour or so. She’s 9 weeks today, so I know she will be fine, but still nervewracking!

scrappyrabbit -I remember those days when it felt like all I did was breastfeed, change nappies, and wish for sleep. It really is a very exhausting stage. (((Hugs))) I'm glad that you've had your mum to help out and that the baby is doing so well. Rest when you can - and enjoy her - they grow up so fast.

Good Morning! It was so good to see you guys last night! justjac it was such a nice surprise to see you! Wow scrappyrabbit, she's nine weeks already! I have no doubt you have a lot of photos, I wish I had been a scrapbooker, or that digital cameras were around when mine were babies. It will go by so fast. Enjoy your time out this weekend! It's so hard leaving them the first few times. She sounds so precious. How is Arthur doing with everything? Getting ready to go crop online with my mom and two nieces. I love it when my nieces have babies, it's much easier to pull them over to the darkside LOL!

Yes- we're starting to have fixed crop on Friday evenings - hope you can join. joyfulnana - I like the extra challenges of the SG crop - the SG sketches are some of my faves grammadee and justjac - have fun making cards! I managed to finish up August 2009 between last night and today and am now working on filling in the gaps in September 2009. Weather was nice this morning when DH and DD17 went to the Sugar Cane Festival in a small town nearby but is rainy now -so a good excuse to scrap some more, lol
