angel97701. Congrats! That house moving/selling process has been a long one but so exciting it’s coming to an end for you. Praying for you and your son. I’ve been reading along both here and from last qrts group and it just seems like too much. I hope you can find some peace in all of it. Linda. Congrats to your daughter! That’s so exciting! I got a bunch of the room (mainly my desk) cleaned and organized. It feels very refreshing and I even got to work. I did 3 cards (a first for me!) after getting some goodies in the mail from Pinkfresh. Now that I have the big shot I decided to get some of those fun dies that work well for card making. Did three thank you notes that turned out fairly nice for a first go! DH is a CPA so we are in the home stretch for the non stop work season. I’m hoping there will be slightly less stress around here after today and we can better divide and conquer the kids activities.

Thank you boymom5 - we're very proud of her Yay for having the room organised enough to work. I'm glad things will be a little less hectic now it's tax day. Today we have the concrete guys coming to repair the driveway from Friday's tree removal and the well guys to hopefully figure out the well issue. Tomorrow we get the new drainfield and hopefully that'll be the end of home repairs. Then I have to deep clean my house which has been sadly neglected during all the home repair drama. I am hoping to join in on some of mom's daytime crops - if any of you are available during the day, check out her thread on the main scrapping board.

Tried out the foiling machine last night and got good results with both the positive and negative of a cover plate. Still have a few other techniques I want to try!

Big news today - DD17 and her team WON the Division III state championship for Academic Team! So proud of her. Congratulations to your daughter, that's so exciting! What exactly does the competition involve?

Post by Linda on Apr 17, 2024 12:41:21 GMT
Thanks AussieMegIt's a team competition - one team per county competes (4 team members and 2 alternates). They answer questions from the areas of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, the fine arts, world languages (French and Spanish), physical education, health, and technology. New questions are written each year by educators from high schools throughout the state. There are 3 rounds. Each round has 20 competitive response questions - the team that hits the buzzer first answers - and a team question (with written answers). The first round each question is worth 5points and the team is worth up to 10 points. The second round each question is worth 10 points and the team is worth up to 20 points. And the third round each question is worth 15 points and the team question is worth up to 30 points. Each team starts with 100 points. If a team answers a competitive response question incorrectly they lose the points they would have gained. (so a 5 point question they'll lose 5 points if incorrect, gain 5 points if correct). The team questions - I think are 10-part - and each part is scored so if your team gets 7 out of 10 on the 1st round your team gets 7 points They livestreamed the finals and those questions are tough. (And the foreign language ones you have to both say and spell (with accents as needed) the response)

Good morning team! Any fun plans for the weekend ahead? Will you have crafting time or are you making memories? QOTD = What is your favourite snack for crafting? Or are you a strict no food/drink near the crafts sort? I have scrapping time today and tomorrow - mom is hosting more daytime crops this week. Not sure about the weekend itself. I really really need to sit down at my sewing machine - I have two skirts cut out, one for me, and one for DD23's upcoming birthday. DD17 leaves tomorrow for a snorkalling campout in the Keys - lucky her! DH and I will need to run errands and hopefully finish shopping for DD23's birthday presents so we can get those mailed. I don't like food or drink ON my scrapbook desk but I often have a cup of water on the floor next to me where it won't get spillt on my paper and photos. Snacking wise - chocolate is always my answer. M&Ms or Hershey with toffee and almonds usually for scrapping.

QOTD = What is your favourite snack for crafting? Or are you a strict no food/drink near the crafts sort? I'm a no food near my scrapping, although I have no problem taking frequent trips to the pantry to snack. I usually have chocolate on hand, but sometimes snack on dinosaurs (a type of lolly, obviously not actual dinosaurs!). Although the weather has been pretty good and I keep telling myself I should get out and do things before winter I've been spending some time in my scrap space. I haven't shared anything I've made, but I've been working on photos from a trip we took in 2016, and I'm pleased to say I'm just have 5 layouts left to complete the whole album, and one of those is in progress on my desk now.

I do like the various Haribo gummies (a German brand) and they come in fun shapes like bears, snakes, frogs... Crackers and cheese... or peanut butter M & Ms. Today I was going to sleep in while most of the family went fishing...unfortunately someone did not turn off their alarm clock and it kept getting louder and louder so I was up at 6 am anyway trying to make it stop blasting music. Now the family won't stop sending me pictures of fishing stuff, but I am trying to scrap at 8 am on a Saturday A little too early for snacks but maybe later.

Yes, that's probably the closest comparison, I was trying to think of a US snack in my original comment and came up blank.

How was everyone's weekend? I scrapped Friday night but that's it. Did pop into Michaels today while I was in the city to pick up DD17 from her snorkalling trip/campout - found a container for my sequins and have sorted those into it. My scrappy space needs some TLC and watching some of the organising summit videos has inspired me to do some organising and tidying

My scrappy space needs some TLC and watching some of the organising summit videos has inspired me to do some organising and tidying I might need to watch that organizing video, I have some areas that need help. I did a little scrapping, and made two cards this weekend. I will post the pages/cards I haven't shared yet on the sharing thread soon. We had a sunny weekend, so I did more yardwork that I did sitting at my scrapping table. My computer also was fixed this weekend so I have access to my photo printer, Silhouette, and my hard drive with the photos on it, yay! Maybe that will inspire me to scrap today.

Cannot believe the attorney will work on a Saturday, then disagree with my decision to withdraw my petition for guardianship . . . REALLY. Super sad and bad reactions with IBS-D today.
Did go through my stamp/die sets and figure out which ones I will probably try and re-sale. But not much energy to really do anything.
Need to go do some creative play or watch a good movie or something. Sorry to be such a downer.

I am lucky to have had a four day weekend (we had a public holiday on Thursday for Anzac Day, and then I didn't work Friday) and I've spent some time working on pages. I've finished the 2016 vacation album I mentioned previously, and I'm now working on pocket pages for my 2022 PL album. I'm down to 20 layouts to be completed, so the end is in sight, but I have no idea how long the motivation will last!

Just heard a loon call, it's mating season here in Northern Minnesota and we have a pair off our shore line. Since we are on a big lake there are many loons.
My creative mojo is returning, and there are some prep sessions I can watch to try out the products for the Altenew Secret Garden retreat next weekend. I think I will give those a try. Can't hurt!
Still not into scrapbooking yet. When my heart is hurting of the subjects (boys) of the scrapbook page it is super hard to be motivated.

I scrapped for a bit yesterday, almost finished with a 12x12, and I'm going to get started on a childhood album for myself. My mom gave me alllll the photos of our childhood years, and I'm motivated to do this. I was all set to head to the LSS 30 minutes from me, but they close at 2PM on Saturday. It was 1:30 when I was ready to go. Her hours are short, and I can't get there through the week, and had no idea she closes so early on Saturday. I was kinda bummed. I love online shopping, but sometimes it is so nice to see the products in person. Chinagirl828 and AussieMeg I'm jealous of all the long weekends you get for public holidays lol.

Another DOUBLE STUFF weekend is coming up: May 3rd through 6th! We will be wiping the slate clean on our checklist of Q-2 challenges May 1st, so can again start earning points for meeting them--and double points if we do that during the DS weekend, but there's more... The May Donna Challenge (worth 10 points to meet any day of the month) will be worth TWENTY points if completed during the DS weekend. And May's Donna challenge will be focusing on CRAFTING! So snap a pic of your scrap desk, or your yarn project in progress or completed, stock up on some crafty papers &/or supplies... Next weekend also includes iNSD on Saturday, May 4th, so there should be lots of inspiration out there... We already earn 10 points per hour for our crafting time, and that doubles to twenty points per hour if we are crafting along with others. During a Double Stuff Weekend, that doubles to TWENTY POINTS PER HOUR for crafting or organizing alone, and FORTY POINTS PER HOUR for crafting with others. And crafting along with a video or class counts as crafting with others. There is already a Q-2 prompt to take on a challenge from a different site (challenge O-2), and to craft along with a tutorial (O-14), so those are worth TWO checks each if you do them over the DS weekend. Special May DOUBLE STUFF weekend prompt: Earn FIVE points for completing challenge O-2 if you also include a link to the site from which you took the challenge! breetheflea joyfulnana AussieMeg katiekaty angel97701 boymom5 Chinagirl828 cat2007 azcrafty scrapperal

This is a great time of year for public holidays. We have Labour Day in March, then a four day weekend in March/April for Easter, then another day (or two) for Anzac Day. But if Anzac Day falls on the weekend, we don’t get another day off in lieu. We now have to wait until June for our next public holiday, which is the King’s Birthday long weekend. And no, it’s not actually the King’s birthday in June, nor was it the Queen’s actual birthday. 🤷♀️

And no, it’s not actually the King’s birthday in June, nor was it the Queen’s actual birthday. But in the UK, there's a much better chance of good weather for celebrations in June than some other months. IRC the King's actual birthday is in November. I think the tradition started under George II - who also had a November birthday. Of course on your side of the world, that doesn't make as much sense.

Been unpacking more stuff in my craft room and re-organizing my DreamBox and cubbies as I go. Also prepping for my Altenew Secret Garden class. Up to about 10 hours of prep plus watching the videos to introduce me to the produce and practice using them before the class. I must say that the Altenew layering stencils are AMAZING! The classes run most of the day on May 4th, so I want to be as prepped as possible and craft along. I'm hoping that this will get my crafting mojo a good kick start. US holidays for May are Memorial Day falling on 5/27. Linda thanks for the heads up about the upcoming double stuff points.
