Hello and nice to meet you all! I have been part of 2peas for ages, only shared one layout on the old board and have not done anything "crafty" on this new board. I use to do a lot of scrapbook pages, now I just make cards. And usually it is just for the group swap on 2peas.
I love making cards, but never find the time to do it. I am hoping, but no guarantees, this will help motivate me to make more cards. I will admit, I am confused by the points and what is expected! I hope it will all come clear as we move on...fingers crossed!

Good morning, team! Thanks, Shakti , for leading us.
I am a retired gramma in north eastern Alberta, Canada, who has collected (but not curated very well) a costly inventory of scrapbooking supplies and my goal is to use those supplies as often as I can. They were--and are--my retirement plan. If I can't die until my scraproom is clean and organized and all my albums are complete I will live forever! Just look for me under the pile of scraps in my scraproom--I probably can't get up LOL
I also love making cards for friends and family. That requires a whole different stock of supplies that sometimes interact with the scrapbooking ones. What if I suddenly need to send a card to a gnome who lives under a mountain bridge near a tropical beach? I would need the dies and stamps to do that, right?
I love making cards, but never find the time to do it. I am hoping, but no guarantees, this will help motivate me to make more cards. I will admit, I am confused by the points and what is expected! I hope it will all come clear as we move on...fingers crossed! Welcome to a team, scrappert ! I hope you make lots of cards and share them with us. We love the inspiration. If you share them over on the Cardmaking board, you could come here and let us know, so we could slip over there and take a look. As for points, you will get used to them. Most of your points will probably come from creating and sharing your cards. If "your" size is a standard A-2, then each one is worth 10 points, plus 1 for creating and 1 for sharing, so 12 points a pop. Then you get a bonus of twenty points for every dozen cards you make. So twelve cards (120), created & shared (12) plus bonus (20) is a cool 152 points! When the challenge list is complete at the beginning of next week, you can print it off and use it to check off all of the challenges you have met. You earn one point for each checkmark, but once a challenge is checked once, it can't be checked again that month. There is a chart for the bonus you earn by number of checkmarks each month. When you set challenges, think about a couple of things: (1) make sure to add one that covers something you always--or usually--include on a project. So if you always use sequins, then make that a challenge. It's worth an extra checkmark (or point) for you each month, and (2) if you want or need a kick in the butt to use a certain technique or supply, make that a challenge to spur you on to remember to use it next time.
Oh, and we have each already earned a point by posting here today, Shakti and scrappert -- one point per day posting in the challenge team chat!

Just ask if you're confused! There are several experts on the thread Hopefully you'll get some motivation from the challenges but everyone is welcome whether they share pictures or not, whether they earn 10, 100, or 1000 points. Thanks for leading the team Shakti I'm working on some card drives, as usual. Donation cards are easy because you don't have to worry about knowing the right person who loves a gnome who lives under a mountain bridge near a tropical beach, to quote grammadee's example.

Setting challenges, do I have to make a challenge or do I just used someone else's challenge if I don't make one? And I can use multiple challenges? I am not sure I am ready to set a challenge yet!

Setting challenges, do I have to make a challenge or do I just used someone else's challenge if I don't make one? And I can use multiple challenges? I am not sure I am ready to set a challenge yet! No expectation that you HAVE to set a challenge. You can check off any challenge on the list when you meet that challenge, no matter who set it.
But setting a challenge can be pretty easy. If you go to the Q-2 Challenges thread, and read the challenges in the top post and those listed in the replies, you will see you don't have to make them very detailed. Just think about products, techniques, and themes you usually use, or that you want to use, and throw some of those in there...

And a little more about me. I do work full-time (which I why my post this morning was rather brief), so I'm a "weekend warrior" crafter for the most part. Grew up in a crafty family, so I've been crafty as long as I can remember. Dabbled in stamping, cardmaking, and scrapbooking on and off my entire adulthood, mostly not very successfully. Finally jumped into exclusively cardmaking pretty close to two years ago and found the Peas again that fall (I had briefly been a member, perhaps only a lurking one of the original Two Peas in a Bucket in the early 2000s).
I'm not sure how long after that I joined my first challenge team, but I sure didn't set any challenges that first time. I think I had at least one question about scorekeeping for grammadee every single week for at least the first month!
One really exciting thing coming up in my crafting life is that in a couple weeks I'll being going to a weekend retreat and I plan to work on scrapping the vacation my mom and I took to Italy in the fall of '22! This will be my first actual scrapbooking project in DECADES -- I have NEVER actually completed a scrapbook -- EVER!

Hi everyone. Hope your Monday treated you well. And it is April. Holy cow. The year is flying by.
A little bit about me. I am a SAHM to 2 young adults who have various disabilities. I spend a lot of time dealing with CA DMHC, insurance grievances, making sure referrals are going through, and appointments. When I am not tied down with medical stuff, I love to scrapbook, make cards, and take photos.
I am married (22 years coming up later this month) and we also have 2 dogs.
I too have some disabilities and am looking to now be tested for Autism myself.
My favorite color is pink, I love to horseback ride, love the warm sun, and love to cook.

Hello! I am a scrapbooker and cardmaker-scrapbooking since 1997 and more recently (3 years or so) cardmaking. I bought a Cricut as soon as they were available but instead of moving forward with tech, I am enjoying a slower pace. I made DD's wedding invitations last year and bought myself a Mini-Empress machine to help with them and fell in love with dies all over again. I try and buy versatile dies that work for both cardmaking and scrapbooking. I recently did some fun math (I love math) and discovered at the rate of one LO a week I could basically scrapbook for the next 29 years without purchasing paper. I am hoping that being on this team kicks me into high gear and I get more than one LO a week done, although working full time does impact that! My old boss was not a fan of me taking a vacation day to scrapbook, so now I don't tell what I am doing if I am going on a retreat and need to take a Friday off! When I am not scrapbooking I will most likely be rewatching Bridgerton until the new season comes out in May-cannot wait! Thanks everyone, looks like a great team here, a shout out and huge "thank you!" to pantsonfire who very recently sent me some beautiful Pinkfresh dots...plan on using them on a challenge LO very soon.

Good Tuesday morning, Team. It's great getting to know a little bit more about each of you. But, this quarter we get points just for chatting here (one point per day we post in this thread). So for those who have already introduced themselves--and also for those who have not--I thought today I would throw out another question that is as easy to answer or as detailed as you want it to be...
What is your favourite theme to scrap, &/or make cards for? I love scrapping my grandkids, and their interactions with each other.

I think fall is my favorite color theme. I love all the colors for that time of the year. Otherwise, with making cards, I don't really have a theme.
My favorite color is purple, so that also impacts a lot of what I come up with too!
I make very basic cards, I don't have all the fancy tools and dies. I do have a Circut, but I have not used that in YEARS! I have just started junk journaling. I will be using some challenges for that too.

I will take a look at the challenges thread. My suggestion is to load the challenges with lots of things you plan to do in the next 3 months! Last quarter I was making birthday and encouragement cards for a drive so I made challenges for using the word happy, making birthday themed projects, using encouraging words, I might've also added stars or hearts for a shape challenge if someone didn't do that already. This quarter I'm making red white and blue cards for a charity so I'm going to add as many variations of that patriotic themes into the challenges as I can and one for making a card with no sentiment since that's a requirement of the drive. Especially if you know you're going to be making something a bit out of the ordinary theme or technique-wise or you have a specific thing you'd like to try, you may as well make it a challenge and get a point.

So, I don't go over to NSBR-land, so I often get life-goings-on chatty in team chat threads. Are you folks ok with that or is a turn off? I can see that it could a bummer to come here looking for crafty inspiration or what-have-you and instead find someone's tale of woe....

In my experience it has been fine to just chat, a mix of everyday life chitchat and a bit of crafty goings on. A lot of people forget to read here after the first day or two (HINT - bookmark the thread!) so limiting the nature of the chat might leave it even quieter… but that’s just my two cents - I don’t mind.

Thanks, Jo.
Some of you know I was laid off after two+ years in December -- dreadful time to be looking for a job. I landed last month in an absolute dream job -- great culture, best boss I've had in years, seemed to good to be true.
It was. Today, day 2 of week 4, I was laid off again.
The silver lining (or sliver lining, maybe, since it's veeeerrrrrrry thin) is I'll have plenty of time for crafting and team leading.
I will try not to dwell on this, but I might post some job search angst now and again. Right now, I think I'm in shock a bit still.

It was a slow start -- sort of stalled out/froze after I showered. Eventually got hungry enough to scrounge some breakfast. Reached out to a well-known recruiter in my industry/area and an internal recruiter I had been working with at a company in area with new roles opened in the last week or two. I have phone meetings with them at 3 and 3:45 respectively. Reached out to folks I know who were also laid off with me and shared the networking group in the area. Reached out to some ex-colleagues at a very local company with a suitable role that opened this week, but before they could respond, talent acquisition there reached out to me directly. Also reached out to an ex-manager who once worked in his brother's recruiting firm and has a great network.
Started the April SLoC.
Went to the grocery store.

What is your favourite theme to scrap, &/or make cards for? I like making cutesy Doodlebug cards best of all, especially if they're punny. I make them for donation so they can be just for fun and pretty silly. I enjoy making colorful cheerful cards with patterned papers and die cuts I don't have to color. The range of cards I can make for people I actually know and would send cards to is a lot narrower. Not many appreciate the cutesy punny ones. Before I started donating cards I had so many in my stash that were not quite right for anyone I knew... Actually I still have a few of those. I should probably give them away. We have a Little Free Art Gallery in a nearby community that I could put artsy cards into. If I haven't found a use for them in the past 7 years (about how long I've been making cards this go-around) it's not likely I will in the next 7 years either. Hope you're all having a nice day I just finished some Snow Much Fun/warm winter wishes cards using the new Sheetload sketch. Just need to wait until morning to check if they're really finished and to snap pictures to share, hopefully in that order, but usually I do pictures and then notice they need a little something more...

Hiya team! I'm Ryann. I am married with no kids. DW and I retired last year and moved to the PNW. I craft a lot less than I did before we retired - go figure! My favorite cards to make are christmas cards. I really enjoy the magic of the season and I tend to be drawn to collections in that theme. I don't think I have a favorite theme for scrapbooking. The hardest for me to do are travel pages as it's never just one page - it's many coordinated pages or a whole album. That just makes my brain hurt. I've taken small steps in trying to get through some travel scrapbooking. It is a long term goal for this year. I recently completed a trip that was supposed to be a 6x8 mini album that I scaled back into two double sided pocket pages. So I cheated a little. I currently have a craft room in chaos! We did a day trip to IKEA yesterday to pick up a Kallax to help make better use of the space. It's a standard sized bedroom with a standard shallow, but wide, closet. This will be the second iteration of furniture in the space. I ousted large wardrobe cabinets that seemed to swallow the room. I think (hope!) I will be happier having cube storage again. It already feels bigger. So that is what is taking my attention craft wise at the moment. I hope to have the room put back together in the next few days. Totally okay with chatting about RL & crafting things. I'm easy!

I'm starting to look back on some of my older trip albums (photo books) and wondering if I really need a whole book to document a few days of my life in the early 2000s. Maybe a couple of pages is enough... even if we do take a million photos in those few days.
