Happy Mothers' Day, team! We are going out for supper later, but until then I have the day pretty much to myself. Have opened a small gift from my dh, and had calls from a couple of my "kids" and texts from a ddil and a dgd. So a nice day, so far... Had a great day yesterday playing with paper. Glad you could join us for awhile, Shakti. Sorry we didn't give more notice for the Pop up Crop. I thought all that paper activity would carry over to crafting today, but when I looked for mojo--NADA. I find that when my creative side is sleeping that is a message to use my mundane side, so I added up my points so far this month. I find that if I do that in smaller bites, it doesn't become a huge job. And now I think I will do some more sorting of dgd's pages and stowing them into page protectors in albums.

Good idea to do some crafty admin when you're feeling less inspired grammadee I often cut card bases and die cut sentiments, that kind of thing. Shakti even in a place as small as Iceland you can miss out on the northern lights, as many tourists discover to their annoyance. They're very random. I looked outside at 1:30 today and saw nothing. I checked a New Zealand online newspaper to see how the aurora australis were doing too (family is in NZ) and enjoyed lots of beautiful photos. One photographer even did a wedding portrait for a couple with pink and red lighting up the sky (in a city that has rarely ever seen them). There were lots of cool low tide beach photos with the lights reflecting in the wet sand/shallow water. I try not to do cardmaking on Sundays, just so I have a little change of pace, so I'm doing laundry in the perfect weather and reading a young reader's mystery novel. We were so hot the past couple of days we've decided it's summer now and put in all our window fans and shades. Summer doesn't really start here until July 5th so we'll see if we regret that! I should watch some more watercoloring lessons this afternoon. Hope those who are celebrating had a happy mother's day

Thank you, joblackford . Mother's Day was quiet, but nice. Got calls from both offspring. DH exhausted himself in the shop Friday/Saturday, so he made a short day of it yesterday and was home to make dinner. When we went on a museum date last weekend I bought myself a tiara in the kids' section of the gift shop, which I wore much of the day. I did decide to leave it home while grocery shopping though. Today I am having a weird and outside normal routine sort of day. Just decided to mix it up. I'm sure this in motivated primarily by anxiety. If I do not get an offer for the job I had the three interviews for last week, I just don't have the slightest idea what could have possibly gone wrong. I found a couple new opportunities late last week, but nothing that looks promising. I should dive back into job search mode, but I'm just not feeling it. Hope all the moms had awesome Mother's Days and that all the Peas had great weekends! EtA: Heard from the recruiter. There are SEVEN candidates in this round, some still in process of interviewing this week. Sigh.

Good Monday morning, team! Waiting is hard, Shakti. Hang in there. Try NOT to give the negative thoughts real estate in your brain. My dd used to call those negative niggles the Itty Bitty Sh*tty Committee. When we get anxious about something now we say "Adjourn the committee!" Dh is heading to town for a couple of appointments. I am not sure if I will put together a couple of birthday cards I need, or maybe a scrapbook LO. But I KNOW I will play with paper. What's everyone up to this week?

As to what else I'm up to this week, I should probably finally shower now that the dishwasher is done. I found a couple of jobs I could follow up on and did so. Towards the end of last month, on the advice of one of the recruiters I know, I did apply "blind" to a bunch of jobs -- just through their websites, no recruiter or internal referral. So of course I have no contact info to follow up with for those.
Once out of the shower I ought to make granola and/or go to the grocery store. But I might finally get the craft room all the way together for the first time in forever. It SHOULD be easy. Since DS announced he wouldn't be moving home, even for the summer, now that he's graduated, I've been using his room for all my crafty cold storage, purgatory, to donate, to sell, already listed for sale, and packing material for shipping sold stuff. Oh, and more laundry. Boy have I been putting off laundry....
Maybe if I get the craft room put together, I'll work on the SLoC sketch i chose to try and use up another 6x6 pad.

I need to get back to work selling those rotten Hummels and other assorted nonsense. I never quite got to them last week and now I feel like I'm "behind" even though I'm the only one keeping track. I'm going to do a workout, then some work, then I should change into my gardener cosplay and get my tomatoes planted. There are only two plants. It's not like I'm doing farm work. But each project requires multiple steps before I do the thing and that always hangs me up. And I've learned the hard way that doing it half-assed can make life harder in the long run. Planting the tomatoes takes 10 minutes, but it's setting up supports and irrigation and moving the dahlias, etc etc that turns it into a big deal. I have to constantly remind myself to do the first thing first, then just do the next thing, and so on and so on. I'm enjoying my new die cut sentiments though! More die cutting this afternoon

Sorry for my silence. I was out of town, but now back home and sick. Too early to see where it's going. Right now just tired with a bad sore throat. Last time I had a sore throat it was covid and it was so swollen I couldn't even swallow spit. So I'm a little panicky about it. ("Adjourn the committee!!") Fingers crossed it's just a cold and this is as far as it goes.
The only thing that sounds appealing to me is shopping from my couch. So far it's just been "window" shopping, but I found a couple stamps that I think would translate well into being stitched on an embroidery hoop. They are at SB.com so I will likely wait for a freebie that entices me. Today's freebie does not.
I hope everyone enjoys a fun/creative start to the week, in addition to the planting of tomatoes, job searching and other stuff that gets in the way.

So, it is certainly true that even if there are six other candidates, I still feel really good about three of the four interviews and good about the fourth. That's the company that's number one on my leaderboard right now (and, yes, I have an ordered mental list of my top prospects). The company in the third spot just reached out to schedule an in-person interview. So that's good news.

EtA: Recruiter at Job #1 got in touch to say feedback session with interview panel is scheduled for late afternoon Monday a week from today, so I won't hear until Tuesday. At least I can stop wondering.
Got a contact from another recruiter referred to me my folks at company that laid me off after three weeks, not sure who exactly. Going to have a getting to know you call now.

I got sweaty with a dumbbell workout and then dumped the compost into the garden bed before I jumped into the shower. eBay was being a bit of a #*@% this morning but I got my Hummel listings half drafted! One step at a time... I really hope you don't have covid Ryann! And that whatever you do have clears up quickly. Adjourn the committee! Yes, take it easy. I hope you have something to read or watch or someone to keep you company... or that you can rest if that's what you need. For colds I'm a fan of taking good old fashioned Benadryl to stop the snot production and then dozing/moaning on the couch for a few days. I read that advice from a doctor years ago - the snot is an immune overreaction and is not necessary to rid your body of the virus, but it sets up a lot of risk of secondary infections and is just plain yucky! The Benadryl dries you up but it also wipes you out so you have to rest and let your body fight the virus. Colds suck so much... Feel better soon!

Oh Ryann, I hope this is a spring cold and that you feel better soon. Yeah, and keep that IBSC adjourned! Employment prospects look good, Shakti. joblackford, after your post, I went looking for some scrapbooking pp I remembered that had Hummelesque characters on it. Was thinking maybe Graphic 45? P13? But I didn't find it. Good luck with your sales. I have my own gardening adventure planned for today. The spring has been weird with a dry start, then some super cool temps, then some rain, so all we have in the ground are the potatoes. After the cold and rain I was waiting for the ground to heat up before putting my onion sets in. (Or maybe that was just an excuse.) Anyway I did a seed inventory and placed an order last week. It should be in this week. And today I am swinging by the greenhouse to pick up bedding plants on my way to dgs's baseball game. My plan is to get only about 1/2 to 3/4 of what I usually do. And I have a list to prevent dgs from distracting me too much. Will let you know if I actually met my scale-back goal. Limiting choices is not a skill of mine...

Your gardening sounds a lot less haphazard than mine I hope having a list helps! We've had such good weather this spring - normally I wouldn’t have even looked for tomatoes to plant for another couple of weeks. May is lovely here when/if the sun comes out. So many rhodos in bloom, even at the saddest of houses. I never even got to crafting yesterday unless untangling an extremely messy and twisted ball of yarn while watching a Shimelle video (and several others) counts. But I got some tasks off my to-do list and gave myself a little headstart for next time I work. Today the sun is out and I just want to go shopping. I've convinced myself not to waste a day at the shops every day for the past week, so we'll see. I kicked my butt with that workout yesterday and sitting on it all day today will not help! That's my justification, but mostly I just like a change of pace (and banana chocolate chip Lära bars and chocolate HobNob cookies I can't get on my weekly shop). Speaking my sore butt, my new chair cushion shipped today. My vintage office chair is cute but oof, it hurts!

I finally took myself out on an outing today, ahead of a change in the weather. Going out might be overrated but I got some treats and enjoyed the sunshine and views. My friend in central Illinois is sending me cicada plague updates. Are any of you in that zone? She gave up on going for a walk because they were falling out of the trees onto the sidewalk and grossing her out. I did some die cutting today and finally finished the cards I was working on, or at least finished enough for now. The Altenew sentiments are beautiful but I really wish they would come out of the dies more easily. They’re not even particularly intricate. I don’t know what the problem is. I would mass produce them quite happily if I didn’t have to try and poke them out without tearing the narrow bits.

If you haven't already, cut out a piece of tyvek (the stuff USPS priority mail bags are made out of) using the die, and leave it in (creating a sandwich - die/tyvek/cardstock when cutting). I hope I'm making sense. ETA: it helps so the cardstock isn't embedded quite so deep into the die

Happy Friday Eve! Hope everyone is having a great week and planning wonderful weekends!
I worked at the company where I have an interview today 25 years ago. I didn't love working there then. I am in a different specialty and interviewing in a different department. Nevertheless, Glassdoor reviews indicate that none of things that irked me then have really changed. An ex-colleague who remains there corroborated this. although she says the department I'm looking at "is fine". Still seems dubious, but will be fodder for the my job search log for the state/unimployment insurance.
But it has be very unmotivated to get ready to leave for the interview in two hours. And that somehow has me unable to focus well on anything else either.
We will be going to a wedding out of state this weekend. Should be fun and I have no reason to complain about weekend routines being disrupted, given that I'm not working.

Good morning, team. Sending positive vibes for your interview, Shakti. Hope that soon things will start falling into place for you. As I have often told my "kids", you don't have to worry about working conditions there until they actually offer you the position. And maybe the different department--and the YOU that has evolved over the years--will be a better fit than the last time. Still no gardening happening here. Had to make a quick trip on Tuesday evening when I got a call that my late brother's widow was at end-of-life stage in the hospital. I got there in time to see her and say goodbye, but she was already beyond response to me when I arrived. I did get to see three of her kids. Waiting now to hear about funeral arrangements. I might manage a LO today. Have a three-day-in-the-making title assembled on my counter. Not that it was three WHOLE days in the making: maybe one hour total time for points, but it involved wet media that needed drying and a concept that was slow in evolving, but I have high hopes for how it will work with the LO in my head...

Good morning, Team! What are your weekend plans? It’s a long weekend here in Canada, not that retired people GET long weekends LOL. Hoping at some point to put some seeds and onion sets in the ground, but it rained last night, so not sure when it will be dry enough.
Dgs is here (sleepover last night), and one thing on our agenda is to make some birthday cards. But he has developed an affinity for typing in MS Word, so now he is using my desktop computer, and I am on my iPad in the kitchen. Not sure how that happened—that room is my sanctuary and NO ONE is allowed in there but me…
I need to order my new stove today after ours cratered earlier in the week. Internet guy is scheduled to come today. That’s the only other excitement I know about so far…

Our town has its (longest running in the nation) Armed Forces Day parade tomorrow. It used to start right outside our house, pretty cool when the tank rolled by, but they changed the route. It's probably going to rain tomorrow so I don't thing I'll bother going. I just got back from Joann. I hadn't been since they declared bankruptcy. It looks like they're emptying the store, at least the paper crafting sections. Very empty, with 40% off most everything. I found the Hero Arts shape dies I wanted, so I got 3 different ones. The star one rang up full price but the clerk told me to use a 50% off coupon, so I ended up even better off. I might go back for some AC patterned paper. Have fun with your Dgs grammadee I hope he lets you back into your sanctuary!

Dgs gone home.
Internet guy done with the install. Hoping this is the upgrade that actually works...
I made one card and one envelope, but sent them with dd to mail this afternoon, so no photos. Dgs made a couple of cards, too. Again, no pictures, but here are a couple of pages he put together today as gifts. This first one required his typing He asked me to print the puppy image he found on the internet. Then he fussy cut the puppy and added his other pieces. Then he started thinking her sister would want something, too, so we printed the colouring book owl image and he coloured it with pencil crayons. He set himself a challenge to use ten colours for this one.
