Those pages are adorable, grammadee. Went to bed after the 2nd period with the game tied. Just as happy to see the Bs put out of our misery this morning. Now, can we just ensure that a proper hockey-climate team wins this thing? Canada works for me, I could maybe hold my nose and root for NY a bit, but Florida or Dallas -- that just ain't right! I could probably craft a bit, or at least do some tidying/organizing/decluttering this morning before and after yoga, but I don't seem to be. Still need to pack for the little weekend getaway too. Happy weekend, all!

Enjoy your weekend getaway, Shakti. I admire your morning routine of yoga and tidying. I am caffienating myself before heading out to visit some local greenhouses. The weather is still depressingly dreary and another hit of rain in the night killed my hope that by end of day we would be able to put some seeds into the garden. Before I do, though, I think I will spend a little time getting this room back into shape. After dgs's crafting marathon yesterday and the internet guy moving stuff out of his way to wire in the new modem, I had to brace myself to even come in here. And I am a crafter who works well in a mess. But it has to be MY mess, I think LOL. If the next time I come back in here I have a PLAN for my next scrappy project, that should get my creative juices flowing... Happy Saturday!

I got my Hummel eBay listings finished this morning so I can work on whatever I want, or nothing at all, for the rest of the weekend without feeling bad. Now if I could only get all the rest of the nagging to-dos done, or accept that I don't need to worry about them until some other time... I put some red and blue papers and cardstock on my desk, ready to cut some shapes with my new shape dies. I sorted out storage for them too How have I gone so long without basic star and heart dies?!

I put some red and blue papers and cardstock on my desk, ready to cut some shapes with my new shape dies. I sorted out storage for them too How have I gone so long without basic star and heart dies?! You will have such fun with those dies and that paper! Canada works for me, I could maybe hold my nose and root for NY a bit, but Florida or Dallas -- that just ain't right! I just wish we could have waited until the LAST round to have two Canadian teams to play each other. Even with a win last night, Oilers' fans are not beyond the nail biting stage. So afraid we blew the goals last night we will need for game 7. Until last night, only one goal separated the two teams' total goals in the series. So a little puck luck might be the thing that propels one of them into the next round after Game 7. Meanwhile the Stars are sitting back, getting massages, resting their muscles and joints, getting proper rest and food... The universe is telling me I need to quit worrying about garden planting today. It is raining--again. And close to freezing. I promised myself when I retired years ago that never again would I be gardening in my winter coat, so I have to trust that one day the skies will clear and the earth will dry and warm and be ready for my seeds and plants. The creative side of my brain is torn in two directions this morning. On my counter is a pic of my son on a motorbike he restored, plus a stencil for making wheel tracks, and my Jaded Blossom gnome motorbike dies. But last night my dgd shared an official grad photo of her in her purple cap & gown and holding a huge bouquet of yellow roses... Have a wonderful Sunday, team, no matter what your plans.

I'm looking forward to seeing which you choose! I'm going to work on some computer related memory keeping stuff this afternoon, checking some old external hard drives to see if I still need them, if they still work, etc. I have a DVD of a golden wedding party that I should probably have digitized, or that needs to go in the memory bin as is - rather than just sitting out on my desk. And I'm thinking about some old Christmas journal projects. The sun has come out but it's a bit chilly. Maybe I need to go for a walk to get the blood flowing.

Good Monday morning. Rainy and dreary again this morning. Between yesterday and today, I managed to construct a couple of motorbike gnomes. This one is on a tag, ready to go onto a page I can't share for awhile (a sample for a later challenge). The other will go on a Fathers' Day card for my motorbike riding ds.

hehehe, he's so cute @grammdee! Masculine products so often miss the mark, but I think he's a good balance - not too cute, not old fashioned, good for younger and older guys. I like that he's not too obviously gnomey which might be off-putting for some guys. I wondered if Jaded Blossom had jumped the shark (so to speak) with the mermaid gnomes this month I had an unfamiliar feeling of being caught up this weekend. Not that I was, really. There's still tons to do, all the time! But I got a couple of things ALL THE WAY DONE that had been hanging around for far too long. I wiped an old hard drive and tore up and recycled a worthless Hummel price guide (1998 prices, just a few years out of date, lol) and an old planner. Put some things in my memory box, some in the bin. I even looked through 2 of my own scrapbooks! And I might've come up with a way to get an old Xmas journal out of plastic pages protectors (which I hate) and into a notebook that will be easier to store and enjoy. I just have to check the page count and size to see. It's a notebook I already own and was going to pass on, so that's a bonus. I sometimes feel silly for wasting time re-doing old projects but then I remind myself there are no scrapbook police! And it will be fun to revisit the Xmas my nephew was 4 or 5 and enthralled with his grandma's massive collection of holiday tchotchkes and the snow village that took up half of the living room. Hope everyone is ready to have a good week Are you feeling better Ryann?

Happy Monday, peas! grammadee I'm typically not #teamgnome, but I think your biker gnome is kinda cute. The nose is cute. I like it! Wondering about this top secret layout challenge....hmm.... thank you for the get well wishes, too! joblackford I think I'm mostly better. Still a little lingering things but overall on the upswing. Thank you for asking Sounds like you've had a productive weekend - very nice!! I had a random thought during the weekend to change how I store my patterned paper scraps. I kept them stored flat, in a 12x12 iris case - no organizing within there. I have one for xmas scraps and one for everything else. While I didn't touch the xmas scraps, the regular patterned paper scraps I divided into piles per size, and slipped them into a 3-tier stadium organizer that (I think) has weird measurements. So now they are all standing up and it's much easier to go through them when making "use up your scraps" donation-type cards. Which I made a handful of this weekend while watching the Spellbinders card making event. I didn't do any of the classes (no energy for die cutting yet), but I was able to at least be creative while watching. I had a two week break from crafting between being out of town and then sick. I'm glad to be back in the swing of things!

Weekend was lovely -- but I am SO TIRED!
Waiting to hear about the interviews last week. The VP and the retiring manager I'd be backfilling at one job both looked at my LinkedIn profile today. So, yeah, I know they're deciding today, but I didn't really need to see that. Sigh.
I am NOT going to even look at mermaid gnomes -- that sounds bizarre at best.

Thanks.
Now what I should be doing is diligently scouring the internet for additional opportunities.
What I am doing is obsessing over every little thing I wish I'd done differently with respect to the job I haven't heard about yet (and catastophizing about how I'll never work again except maybe as a Walmart greeter).
Have I mentioned that my mother starts a trip abroad today and my DH leaves tomorrow on a trip of his own? I've already warned DK I might be extra-needy for a week or so coming up. I suppose I ought to give you all the same advisory notice. Apologies in advance!
Clearly, I should head into the craft room....
The recruiter I need to respond to can wait until a little later.

I hope you found some peace in paper crafting, Shakti. It is so hard not to have control over the situation. But hopefully good news will come soon. The skies are clearing a bit here, but dh says it is still too wet to plant garden. I am feeling a time crunch, as May 24th approaches (the latest I have usually planted). But maybe by afternoon it will look better... This morning I finished the sympathy cards I started yesterday with the OCC video. Will head over there to watch Day Two soon. Then I think I will head into town to pick up a few groceries and the mail. With luck, the binder and page protectors I ordered for my dgd's grad album will be in, so then I will be able to work on getting the pages into the album. How is YOUR Tuesday shaping up?

I did a little in the craft room and may get back there. I kind of want to buy a brayer now. I need a few groceries. I got the bad news on the job for which I had the really challenging interview a month ago, so that is completely unsurprising and at least I have closure now. The person who referred me to the job I'm waiting got in touch -- I was sure he'd heard they made an offer to someone else. Turns out he's been on vacation and won't be back in the office until tomorrow, so he didn't have news, he was hoping to get news from me....

Forgot to mention: Let's go, OILERS! Condolences, kitbop . No news. On the trying to maintain a positive attitude side: the camp director my kid interviewed with told them on Thursday that the offer had been sent to HR and should arrive Friday. It still has not. And that is an offered that was plainly stated to be in the works. On the "I'm doomed" side: I didn't mention during the interview process that I had worked at this company 25 years ago or the job I had for three weeks this year. The prior service came out when we ran into one of my colleagues who is still there on the way out after the interview (we being me and the HR lady) and the three-week job is still on my LI profile, which I know they looked at yesterday. As I explained on the spot, I was in a different field/department 25 years ago and the experience really didn't seem at all relevant. But I feared even at the time it was going to seem sneaky. And I didn't mention the three week job, either, because how relevant can that be? But you put them together and I think I made myself look really, really bad.

Oh man, Shakti, waiting is the worst. It's so easy to dissect everything and overthink every choice. I personally believe that most hiring is done based on a very early impression or factors that are already in play long before you sit down to interview, and many interviews are more about confirming what has already been almost decided and justifying that decision. I'm not sure if that's better or worse to think about TBH, but humans are appalling at judging other people... I might be influenced by our book group discussion this morning about the book "Talking to Strangers" which none of us would recommend, but which basically argues that understanding other people is really hard and we're terrible at it, and have no idea just how badly we're misreading other people a lot of the time. Sorry you're in limbo without your support system around you right now.

Thanks, Jo.
DH doesn't leave until tomorrow; mom and I spoke at length yesterday evening and iMessages some today. I talked to him about a possibility on the horizon that just gives me all kinds of wrong vibes. But I still need three job search activities every week, so I should probably pull up the big girl pants and apply tomorrow.

Just got a call from my internal referrer -- he's back in the office after his vacation. He spoke with the hiring manager and it sounds like they want to bring me back in for another meeting. My guess is the things I thought had completely screwed it up maybe just left them with some lingering questions/doubts. Fortunately, it seems like they are willing to give a chance to dispel them.
Also, mom FaceTimed from her hotel in Athens this morning.
And DH told me we could talk to the financial planner about what it would look like if I just ended up retiring wicked, wicked early. Which was very sweet and supportive, even though it's the very last thing I want for myself.
Also, the biker gnome is cuter than most because of the goggles.
And I worked on applying to this new and not-very-attractive opportunity before breakfast.

Good morning, Team! (((((HUGS))))), Shakti. Hopefully a position that fits will fall into your grasp soon. I agree, joblackford, that it is nearly impossible to figure out what the interviewers are looking for. My advice has always been to pretend you already work there, rather than trying to impress the panel. Maybe that uses micro intuitions, too: the interviewers start seeing you as part of the team, someone they can work with... How are you enjoying your scrap storage, Ryann? I use one of those stadiums (stadia?) to organize my scrappy supplies when I am at a crop or working at my kitchen table; sometimes in here if I am working on a whole album (or a bunch of pages) on one theme. Also used it for my SCT Crop & Create materials. But I find that if left standing in the stadium too long, the 12x12 pieces start to curl. Helps to put a piece of light cb collection backing at the back. For card scraps, though it would be perfect. I have my scraps sorted by colour into a magazine rack above 3 drawers on the end of my scrap counter. I keep tools and pens in the drawers and it's great to be able to reach for just the colour I want when looking for something to diecut or mat with. And I have my dgs trained to go there FIRST when looking for papers, rather than riffling through my full sheets. Not alot of crafting aspirations today. Dd is planning to come to see if the garden is dry enough to seed. And my albums and page protectors arrived yesterday, so no more excuses about getting my dgd's pages sorted and stowed. Her grad is June 7th, so the crunch is on...

I just got my old office/crafting stool given away so I'm feeling good! It took some effort to find someone to come and get it, but less effort than getting it to a donation center. Yesterday I got an email from my contact for the red white a blue cards. A couple of weeks ago she still needed lots, but now she's saying just finish up and send what you've got and she'll be done for this year. !!! I only had 2 finished! But I have a bunch started, so that's my push to get them done even if it's a much smaller quantity than I intended to make. The same thing happened last year. I should start earlier... but anyway, I'm having fun with star die cuts and rwb paper scraps this morning. The sun has come out, which is my cue to put on my gardener cosplay and go pull some weeds. I know if I just pulled them for 15 minutes every day I'd be done so quickly, but getting myself out there is a struggle... I hope your garden is drying out grammadee! For all that my region is known for rain, the ground isn't very wet here at all. We don't have a mud season, as such.

grammadee I'm liking the new system a lot. I certainly have no shortage of chipboard! My goal is to use up the scraps quicker than they can start bowing. We'll see how that goes... joblackford I was surprised the rwb cardmaking was already over, then I looked at my calendar - it's nearly June! Time is flying! We have random weeds growing up out of the rocks all over the yard. I keep saying we should go do 10-15 minutes of weeding and it would be done so quickly, but here I sit. We're supposed to have a few dry days in a row, so maybe then... Shakti retiring early ain't half bad. I hope you find what you want.

But the event the RWB cards are for isn’t until Sept 11, which always fools me into thinking I have more time… I got 3 bins of weeds into the yard waste, a pretty big dent in the problem. There’s always more to do though.

Good morning, team. Hoping your week--and the upcoming weekend--is exactly what you want it to be. Nothing crafty going on here for the next few days. Heading out today to a town about 3 hours away for a family funeral tomorrow, then home on Saturday. Dgs has a baseball tournament Saturday and Sunday. Most of the garden seeds were put into the ground yesterday. I still have a couple of hand seeding sessions and bedding plants to put into the garden next week. The only points I will be earning for the team will be hours for stuffing page protectors for dgd's grad album. Will have time to spend a couple hours doing that this morning. And will be printing the cover page and a couple of others for this album at a print shop that is on my way this morning. Almost June, you say? Time DOES fly Ryann and joblackford. I am planning to leave for the grad, gift in hand, next Friday...

I'm glad you're still able to make some progress on that project while you're busy with other things. I'm still not used to the rhythm of the N.American school year with so much busyness in May and June. In NZ we were done with Easter holidays, heading towards the doldrums of winter, a third of the way into our school year. Funnily enough I think university graduation ceremonies were around this time of year but that was held months after the actual end of school. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to attend an important community meeting last night and now am trying to decide if I could push myself even further to join the grocery co-op board and maybe drag my husband along with me. I'm going to finish up my red white and blue cards today.

Good luck with gardens and grocery co-ops!
And, of course, grad albums and RW&B cards!
So, fresh off the success of my Italy albums, I'm having a crazy thought. We had a truly lovely weekend away at my friend's wedding. Easily our best weekend getaway ever. We have a few photos and some ephemera-type souvenirs. I'm thinking of making a mini-album. I like the videos I've seen about making such a think from a cardmaking kit, which seems about the right speed for this teensy project. But I would want slimline and the only slimline card kits I can find are Diamond Press/HSN. I have no idea if they are any good at all.
Part of me thinks that if I could make a wee slimline album from a kit, I could make one from good-quality papers cut to slimline size. But it somehow seems so very much more intimidating.
And REALLY very suddenly makes me regret RAKing ALL the journaling bits that came in my Pinkfresh warehouse box....
Feel free to tell me I've gone off the deep end!

Bet you have a die for cutting them for greetings on cards...

I am SO NEEDY! I am SO SORRY about that!
I reached back out to my internal contact. I can't believe that it was only yesterday that he told me they were trying to arrange to bring me back in for another meeting. I was so sure that since I hadn't heard anything, it wasn't going to happen. Apparently, the VP was out of office. They are trying to arrange it for Wednesday. Which seems like forever from now!
I DID save a set of Pinkfresh ephemera with journaling prompts as well as a couple other packs and several papers. Not sure I love the colors with what I have to work on, but maybe.
The craft room has still not actually ever gotten put all the way back together. I am wondering if my serenity plan for the weekend should be to FINALLY, REALLY, ALL the WAY do that, BEFORE C&9th Summer Camp!

I am wondering if my serenity plan for the weekend should be to FINALLY, REALLY, ALL the WAY do that, BEFORE C&9th Summer Camp! I'm going to take inspiration from you Shakti and try to get my room into shape before C9 Summer Camp. It sure would be nice to have everything in its place before starting on homework. I ordered a couple more organizational things that should be delivered on Friday, so I'm slowly getting things figured out.
