Yikes April really snuck up on me! I still don't have my quilt done. And this weekend Jeremy is bringing the camper home so he can remove the counters and I can paint. Hopefully the weather is decent. There is no way at this point that the quilt will be done before our first trip, second week in May. I'm slightly bummed about that. But it is what it is. I said at the beginning I was not going to let this camper renovation stress me out. When it gets done, it gets done.
I've started a new shawl with new yarn. I posted it at the end of last month's thread. I'm enjoying that very much. And also I've decided that it would be fun to have an entire Christmas tree of crocheted ornaments. So I've started that. Might not get done until 2025, but hey, I've started. And they go together quickly.
What's the scoop on your projects this month?

Happy April!
I cannot do multiple projects at once (hence the wait til 2025 or 2026 for a temp blanket lol)
I’m deep into my first repeat rounds of a Thingie-Ma-bob from HOS. Loving it so far! Although I do find that the Lion brand Mandala cakes are never all the same sequence. I ended the first cake on one shade and managed to have one that stated with the same in the middle, but as I’m going along it didn’t keep quite the same order for colours. But all good - it’s still looking really pretty! I also came across a couple knots where the colour joined instead of it fading into the next shade. But only 1 in each cake, and they are the bonus ones, so they are super huge. And the knots landed in a good spot as I stitched so they are back side and fairly hidden.
I’ll try to take a photo soon!

Hello all, happy April! I seem to have gotten myself addicted to making wax seals. I’m just waiting for a new seal head and a different burner (hopefully here in two days) and I intend to play with making multicoloured seals. They will either be multicoloured or a multi mess. If they look reasonable I’ll post later in the week. I’m off to my brother’s at the end of the month. It’s a 12 hour drive each way so I’ll take something yarny to do in the car.

I received a Harry Potter seal set a couple Christmases ago and still haven’t played with it! BUT I do have a custom seal for my cake biz - and I make chocolate seals and place them at the back of my wedding cakes 😊

I'm taking a 2 day class, making a cathedral windows table runner. Day 1 is done and day 2 is at the end of the week. I must admit that I'm not enjoying the process all that much, although I do like the fabric I'm using and I do like how it's looking. I've been sick, so have to send DH out for some 505 spray to baste the sandwich together before the next class.
I do have the baby top of the baby quilt I was working on finished. Just have to sew the backer together, then make an appointment to get it long armed. Then the worse part - binding the thing. I have a month, so it will be done.

I wish I could one project start to finish cakediva. It would certainly make my life a whole lot less complicated. What hook size was I using and what line did I leave off on? Those are always the questions I ask myself when I'm picking up something old. 😂

I have never done binding Nanner. At least not yet. I have quilt tops to finish so eventually I'll have to do it. But it strikes me as the hardest part of quilting. So I'm very nervous about it.

Those are always the questions I ask myself when I'm picking up something old. 😂 Going forward make yourself some info cards to go with all your WIPs, itemising the yarn type and colors, hook size, where the pattern came from etc.. That has been a game changer for me. I always think I will remember what I'm doing and I never do.

It's always better to guess at a hook size, then do three rows of work and look at and say to yourself, yeah that wasn't right! 😂 And gillyp thank you for the card you sent me in the mail. It came yesterday and I loved the 3D VW bus. My hippie heart has registered that as my dream car. ❤️

I need to work on more then one (crochet) project too. I keep them in separate tote bags with the yarn, hook, and notes on the stitch pattern that I might need. I have a ton of hooks though. I also keep a log of my projects with notes that I can look back on, especially if I'm having a hard time deciding what to do next. Even the failures get logged. Im working on a belt for my daughter with 3 weight cotton yarn, K n C from JoAnn's I'm also making a scarf for my son's girlfriend with Lion Brand Heartland yarn. Plus a couple of dishcloths I have going to learn a new stitch pattern.

Don't be nervous about it. Quite a simple process and I enjoy the hand-sewing to the back. There are a few good instructions on binding on youtube and other places. I will walk you thru the process, if you wish.

Does a new raised garden bed count? I have been having fun creating this using landscape timbers, landscape fabric, mulch and grow bags and various old pots hanging around. I intend to add some crafty garden decorations too!

I intend to add some crafty garden decorations too! Fun! We are having two raised bed gardens with an arched trellis installed next week as we are not DIYer's outside. DH is going to be a gentleman farmer. Had not thought of crafty garden decorations, but worth considering! What are you adding to yours?

Plant markers, beaded suncatchers, garden flags, anything fun that I can find to do. My aim is to be more active outdoors this year despite the Texas HEAT! I used to have a huge heat tolerance but have gotten too used to AC to do the fun things I love!

I also hear you on the heat. Just hoping that this summer isn't as bad (or as early) as last year was.

Currently going through my fabric shelves and pulling some for the upcoming garage sale at my quilt guild meeting later this month. It has become glaringly evident that I have this problem. If I could have a do-over on my fabric collection, I would focus more on buying for specific projects, not buying for love. Because it seems I love it all!

I'm slightly bummed about that. But it is what it is. I said at the beginning I was not going to let this camper renovation stress me out. When it gets done, it gets done. That's the best attitude to have about projects! I am building a patio in my backyard. A couple of friends gave me tons of free pavers, my mom is helping me rototill and then I will be placing brick by brick whenever I have a moment to do so. I could stress out over getting it done before it gets hot but I know that the likelihood of that happening is basically zero. So, maybe I'll place 3 pavers a night after work until December. It doesn't matter, it will get done when it gets done. For crafts, I've been making lots of fun things lately but this soap dispenser is my favorite. I'm enjoying taking my projects outside to photograph them since everything is blooming and so pretty right now.

Am I the only weirdo that buys yarn only for a specific project? I mean, I have yarn coming out of my ears but it’s all marked for a project lol.

I only buy yarn for a project but I have far too much as I don’t make as fast as I think I will or I go off that particular project. I still have a small amount of fabric that I bought just ‘because’ but my biggest downfall is paper and embellishments. I have far too much spanning over 20 years, much of which was bought because I liked it. The good thing about that is I still like a lot of it and I can just “shop my stash” when I do papercrafts. It’s very satisfying to use what I have.

chaosisapony you have my admiration laying a patio. My husband laid our driveway and it’s a huge job with the preparation and all the pavers, even more so if that’s not your trade. It wasn’t his. Great colours in your dispenser!

chaosisapony that soap dispenser is awesome! So pretty. Good luck with your patio. My thing with the camper is that I didn't want it to turn into a chore kwim? It's supposed to be fun. But now I feel like we are on the clock a bit because our counters are ready.

I gathered up all the blues, silvers, grays, and white from my stash. I figure I will put blue lights on my tree this year. And I've just finished making star ornaments. Each one took me about 15 minutes. I'm moving onto something else. I've got some glass bulbs coming in the mail today and I will crochet around them like finsup did a bunch last year. But I'm well on my way.
