That line is so cute **GypsyGirl**! It's the cats...it's always about the black cats for me. Black cats and skulls make Halloween for me...😂 I like being able to see fabrics in person too. I tend toward Moda and Riley Blake fabrics. My quilt store just does not carry much of them. My store too had probably about 10 different 3 yard quilt booklets. I really had my pick of them. I have been eyeballing them for quite some time now thinking they would be good for a beginner like me. I mean I'm totally doing the camper quilt. But some of it I feel like I'm in over my head. The star points...ahhh! Sashing is also more difficult for me. And the larger cuts are something I really had to experiment to figure out how to do them. When I'm done with that I feel like I need a few quick wins, kwim?

The star points...ahhh! Sashing is also more difficult for me. And the larger cuts are something I really had to experiment to figure out how to do them. When I'm done with that I feel like I need a few quick wins, kwim? I thought that you'd love that line! You get a feel for people and their likes by watching what they make/post over time. Don't feel bad about doing a 3 yard quilt. Even experts use them at times. Recently yet another local fabric store went out of business. This one carried all types of fabrics - Beyonce's mother used to buy fabric from there for the costumes she designed for her. They had really grown their quilting department as well. After the close out sale they donated 130+ bolts to our quilt guild! Last meeting they were letting people get what they want with the provision that charity quilts were made from the fabric. They also had a stack of 3 yard books and those ladies were grabbing those books like they were candy! These are quilters who design their own quilts, compete, have quilts hang in Houston and the Modern Quilt Guild show, as well as other noted shows. If they don't have a problem using a 3 yard quilt pattern, none of us should either! As for sashing, when you get more into strips and sashing a good investment would be the Stripology XL Ruler. Expensive (watch for sales) but it was a game changer for me! I also have the mini for working with scraps and smaller pieces of fabric. Strips cut so much more quickly - and more accurately! She has videos on her website to explain the system. You'd be amazed at what you can do with that one ruler.

I have started joining my granny squares for my cardigan. So far I’ve done one front and am a bit past half way on the second. Then it will be the back and finally going on to the knit parts - lower ribbing, neckline ribbing and the sleeves.

jeremysgirl Fabric Cafe, the three yard quilt designers, do kits that might appeal. Plus you can buy and download an individual pattern from the site rather than buy a book. They also have a YouTube channel where you can see the patterns made up. Worth a look. This is their holiday selection atm. www.fabriccafe.com/holiday-3-yard-quilt-kits-s/1946.htm

I sent my sewing machine off for it's annual cleaning. I won't get it back for 3 weeks. I finished this quilt recently and sent it off to the quilter. It is for my grandson. He and his brother are baseball fanatics. I am making a similar one for his brother.

If they don't have a problem using a 3 yard quilt pattern, none of us should either! Thank you! Honestly I don't feel bad about it. Even though I'm an experienced crocheter, I still love me a granny. Love making them, love sleeping with them. They are my bread and butter and my very first afghan was a granny. I mean sometimes too, you just want to be able to sit back and relax while you hobby. I like cruising. And I still think too, that with my current skill set, even a 3 yard quilt will require my concentration. As for sashing, when you get more into strips and sashing a good investment would be the Stripology XL Ruler. This looks awesome! I'm going to watch the video after work to see how it works. I'm a lifelong fan of the Twins. But I am in no means a quilter. I love looking at all the projects here and really appreciate all the work that goes into making one.

jeremysgirl, a couple of things about three yard quilts, the patterns include the extra yardage and cutting instructions needed to size up to a twin or a queen/king. The binding is slightly narrower than I like but no big problem. What I like is you can carry the yardage amounts in your head, three yards, one yard of focal, one of light, one of dark. So, if a fabric really appeals you can purchase before you leave the shop knowing you will have a choice of patterns. Two yards of each for a twin, four yards of each for a queen/king. This quilter used tula fabric and reminds me of your next crochet project. Her take on three yard quilt patterns are worth looking at m.youtube.com/watch?v=PjQkDJ-r1E8

We were out with friends yesterday and my yarn was delivered. I told Jeremy I hoped no one saw that huge package and stole it off my porch. He said don't worry because once someone opens it, they will bring it back. No one wants 25 skeins of yarn...😂 I wish the blue were grayer.

And he qualified it to I'm the only yarn nut in our neighborhood. 🙄 He should know because he's single handedly the neighborhood watch. I swear he knows everyone's business. 😂

I have 10 centres for the sunflowers done, and now I'm taking a break LOL I bought the svg for this file ages ago, and finally got some black vinyl to do it! Just a touch of whimsy for my craft/videogame she-shed room: That is so cute!

My area is in the middle of a heatwave. It was 110 today and is supposed to be 114 tomorrow and Saturday. I put shade cloth all over my garden, tacked sheets up over my windows that don't have blinds, and hunkered down as best as I could today. I almost wish I was at work where the a/c stays nice and cool. Once it got too hot I needed to distract myself so I decided to throw on a painting tutorial I've been wanting to try. I haven't painted in several months so this was really fun to do!
