chaosisapony that's awesome! I wish I could just do a tutorial and have it turn out so cool. You must live near me. I'm in Calaveras County. Thanks so much! I'm in Butte County, just outside of Oroville. It's wicked hot for everyone for the foreseeable future, ugh!

Plus isn’t there a fire up there right now? Yes, there's a good sized one right at the lake. I've had five fires near me in the last seven days and have had one evacuation warning in that time. I love my house, I love my state, but I don't want to do this anymore.

It seems I either do it constantly or go years not doing it at all. I've found a couple of great websites that offer free tutorials though so have been enjoying doing those occasionally. The only downsides I've found are a lack of space to store canvases and the fact that quality paint is pricey but it really makes a difference in the finished product. You should try it!

Care to share the websites? I have been tossing the idea around of painting with oils. My grandma did and I used to draw and paint with watercolors. I dabbled a little with my grandma with oils. Just never got into it. Love the scene! Very calming to look at.

My mom received my finished towel today. Here it is all done: And here is my new project I started today. This towel is for me. I am embroidering 4 KA Cobalt mixers. I received my Cobalt Sir Mix A Lot a little over 22 years ago and adore my mixer. This towel will hang from the oven door bar in the kitchen. This one will definitely go quicker. Didn't take much time for the first mixer. After this, I am thinking I will do Snoopy. Thinking either on his dog house or standing with maybe Woodstock flying near him.

I took some Bob Ross classes many years ago and enjoyed doing that but the mess and smell kept me from going back to it when I dove back into painting a few years back. I've been doing acrylic and watercolor. My absolute favorite tutorials come from Jesse Robertson at Keep It Colourful. The way she teaches just makes sense to my brain and I really enjoy the tutorials she comes up with. http://www.jesserobertson.com I also like to paint with friends using the instructions and traceables from www.stepbysteppainting.net . They are definitely geared more towards beginners but I often use them as a base and then add in my own flair and details. Michelle the Painter on Youtube is another one I enjoy watching. She explains techniques well but I'm not as drawn to her paintings so I haven't personally done any of hers yet.

Those mixers are so cute, pantsonfire! Bob Ross is currently on TV over here chaosisapony. We have a couple of art programs, a bit like Great British Bake Off for artists. One is Portrait Artist of the Year and the other is Landscape Artist of the Year. They are not currently on but you should be able to find previous ones on YouTube, I would expect. I find them very interesting and enjoyable. I like to see how artists can produce their images within the time scale. Not all use paints, they use charcoal, pencil, collage, textile art etc. .

pantsonfire I love how the towel came out. I'm sure your mom is going to cherish those towels. When I got married the first time, a family member gave me a gift of two hand embroidered towels with sunflowers on them. I loved those things.

Yay!! My extra cake from Lion Brand finally showed up so I can finish my Thingie-ma-bob! And since there was a sale, I grabbed some more to do a Marnie’s Garden with: Squishy mail is the BEST mail!

I admire those who knit and crochet. My grandma started to teach me when I was young and I could do a chain and that was it. I had a hard time with it. So being my younger self, I let it get to me and gave it up.
Is there a big difference between the two? One has a single needle and the other has 2 right?
I would love to make a blanket and have no idea where to start. Are on line tutorials a good place to start? Book? Videos?

My KitchenAid Mixer towel is done! Going to hang this on my oven's door bar. I think I did pretty well matching the color. My mixer is Cobalt and this thread is royal blue. The cobalt was a lighter blue so I went darker with a hint of purple in it like my mixer.

I've made a number of crochet blankets, different styles, different designers, different crochet techniques. Places like wool warehouse sells kits for a range of patterns. Some designers have YouTube video support . www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/packs?discipline=1845Designers to check out, Attic24, Jane Crowfoot, tinna thorudottir thorvaldar, Rosina Plane to mention just a few. What have you in mind? If mosaic crochet appeals but you think it might be too hard, it's not, it looks hard but you only need to know a couple of stitches to make interesting blankets, Tinna and Rosina make mosaic crochet patterns and Tinna has a couple of great YouTube videos to learn the technique. What appeals to you?

LOL - I so want to do that on all of mine, but the ones in my cake studio get so much use/cleaning I'm afraid they wouldn't last. But my home kitchen one? I have my eye on a few etsy svg files!

You guys know I love Halloween. I was in Joann's this morning for something scrapbook related and the Halloween decorations were so on point this year I could have bought all of it. I bought only a couple of things so I could have time to pause and think about what else I absolutely must have.

Fantastic projects everyone I've picked up my knitting again, Covid's left me struggling with extreme tiredness so I'm just doing a few rows at a time so that I don't mess up. I have an early birthday present of a Wool Warehouse voucher...squeeeeee new yarn.

I needed another color of DMC floss anyway for a cross stitch project I'm starting so I may as well pick up the Halloween things, right?

jeremysgirl I LOVE those towels. I didn't see those at mine last week but they were still setting up. I might be back today to get some purple DMC thread for my new towel. Need a brighter bolder purple for the vampire cape. Will take a look around if I go. I am starting on my new towel for Halloween - Vampire Snoopy with the moon behind him. Drew this one myself while looking at some photos on Google. I find Snoopy easy to draw. Will post a pic when I am downstairs with my phone. In my craft space and on the computer.
