Good morning Pokeys! grammadee - sounds like you're very busy with the house but I'm glad you were able to squeeze some scrappy time in. I'm trying to catch up on housework myself after a scrappy weekend. But I do have the pieces to a layout on my desk for later. I'm sorry about your garden but yay for new potatoes! Speaking of MARIBETHR - has anyone heard from her? Seems like it's been an awfully long time since she's popped in. nylene - I hope your trip went well and spending time with family was comforting. (((Hugs))). Any update on the MRI?

Wow Linda your mixed media turned out great, I love that! Thanks joyfulnana - it's still not my favourite thing to do though It turned out beautifully, I love all the texture and the colors. Thanks for taking on my challenge . Oh my I love that red white blue with the flower border! grammadee what great photos! I left love in the gallery. I was just thinking about MARIBETHR the other day. I hope she's ok and just taking a break from the board. kitbop I hope things going well on the lead up to your big trip! I have wondered sometimes if Abby gets bored and would like a buddy. But she wouldn't like the buddy at first and I don't have enough room to keep cats separated until Abby came around LOL. Any word on your MRI nylene?

Fun pages, Linda. Not sure when I will finish another page. I played with some inks and pastes yesterday trying to get a water splash effect, but need alot more play before I find something that works. I have three birthday cards to construct before Sunday. And still waiting for inspiration for any of them... Still working on house cleaning. Two bedrooms done and ready. One in process. One yet to be touched. But today I plan to work in the basement. Dd's family's holiday trailer is coming home to the farm today sometime. And while they are here, dsil has promised that he and dgs will help haul some stuff out of the basement to the dumpster and/or recycling. That said, I should get moving. Have a great Tuesday, Pokeys!

Thanks grammadee - more housework to do here as well. Dusting and windows are top of the list. Good luck in the basement - I have NO regrets that we don't have one.

Happy Tuesday! Waving hi and hope you are all having a nice day. Sounds like a few of us are cleaning these days. I am still cleaning up around here and the last area will be my craft/art area. Sort of dreading it but I hope to take it one part at a time. I've been continuing my floral art and will be putting together a video to share. So fun! grammadee- Going to the gallery to see your pages. You have done such a fine job capturing your dgks moments. Hope the gardening has been better and I hope it has warmed up around there. linda- Wow, you have been creating some fantastic pages and cards. Great job! Sorry to hear the rain interfered with your window. LOL! joyfulnana- Do you follow any sports in the Summer? I love Track and Field and looking forward to the Paris Olympics. Also, I hope to catch a few of our LA Dodgers baseball team to see our new Japanese player Otani.

grammadee - wonderful baseball page! Sounds like your busy season isn't over yet. When do you expect a break??? It seems like a lousy harvest everywhere this year. The peaches are non-existent from BC Strawberries finished really early here due to heat. My "garden" of pots on my patio is way behind, but I've got until the end of September to grow, so hopefully I'll get some tomatoes. Linda - love that nemo dress you made. How old was Annabelle when she got glasses? I was 9, and DS1 was 9. DS2 was 14 or 15 like his Dad! nylene - anxious to hear how your trip and shoulder were! gramma - root beer or orange drink? joyfulnana - Abby would NOT like a sibling! We've had so many cats, and it's easy to tell who will accept and who won't accept a new family member. Your gut is good with this one. I am not prepared for England yet. Trying to pack suitable clothes, argh, trying to account for all the weather and situations we're going to hit! I did get a couple of pages done today, and... I got my printer working The problem was the upgraded router, but nobody tells you this upfront. It was a lot of sleuthing and shouldn't be! 1. printers older than a year don't recognize 5g networks (which we all have) and 2. printers older than a year don't work on "WPA3" security (I have no clue what this means). So we had to downgrade all the settings to enable my printer to work! And then the roomba stopped working because we changed the router setttings...

Thank you kellyr21 - good luck with the art/craft area. I dusted and washed windows in my craftroom today (among other rooms). kitbop - A got glasses in 2013 so...6 or 7 and then she didn't have for a while and got them again in high school. C. had glasses at 4 or 5 for lazy eye and then again in middle school for a year or so but doesn't wear them now. S. has never had glasses. DH started wearing them in his late 30s I think and I'm wierd - my lazy eye wasn't caught so while I should have had glasses as a kid, I didn't. They patched my eye in late high school to no avail and while I tried glasses on and off in my 20s - I never found a prescription I could wear without double vision and migraines. In my 40s when my good eye starting getting old - I tried again and they only actually correct my right eye vision - the other side just has a balanced lens for appearances - last eye exam they held up fingers to determine my left eye vision. SO glad that you got the printer working - hopefully the roomba has figured it out too.

A couple more simple layouts tonight Tomorrow DD17 has her Senior Yearbook photos and it's our family game night but I'm hoping to find some scrappy time in there also.

Your "simple pages" look like alot of work, Linda . All that research for the heritage pages! So cool you scrapped the newspaper article. Did you put the actual article on your page? Or did you photograph it? I love the purples on the grad page. Did her school colours include purple, too, like my dgd's?
I am off in a few minutes to watch the fair parade with justjac. See ya later!

Post by Linda on Jul 10, 2024 13:37:12 GMT
Thank you grammadee - I did use the actual newspaper clipping since there weren't any photos on the page and I have other copies of the clipping. And yes, school colours are purple and gold - but purple is much preferred by my kids to the gold so I tend to only accent with gold on the school pages. Enjoy the fair parade! Taking DD17 to the school for yearbook photos at noon. I think she's decided to wear my granny's necklace for the 'drape' photos - as did DD24. They might not be especially girly-girls (I believe DD17 is wearing a shirt and tie for her senior portrait) but they are sentimental about family things. I should probably snap a picture of the necklace and do a page about it.

We got home from Idaho last night. It was a very hard trip, physically and emotionally. My arm and shoulder have hurt more than at any time since the first few days after surgery.
The Surgeon appt was this morning and the two tendons they attached in Mar are both off the bone and the muscles have atrophied substantially. I don't know why I feel so crushed, I knew in my heart that was the answer, but was hoping for something else. I asked Steve if he thought I could get hit by a bus before Sept so I don't have to have the total shoulder. I just dread going through this all over again, and planning meals he can make for weeks again, being unable to dress myself, etc., etc.
I apologize for being such a complainer. I know there are Peas facing much scarier things than this. Today is just a bad day.
I'll come back and chat later.

Oh no nylene, you have every right to stomp your feet and argue that this is NOT fair as much as you need! It's not a straightforward situation and now you're having to face it twice! I only wish we could do something to change the situation. You will get thru it. We know you can do it! But I am so so very heartbroken for you and your shoulder.

Update on Senior pictures - DD17 was given a choice between the drape and the tux - and to no one's surprise, she had her yearbook photos taken in the tux. She did wear my Granny's necklace in the casual pose though. Only one layout so far tonight - for Shimelle's sticker class - and very out of my box. I spent the afternoon uploading and ordering the rest of the 2023 photos - Sept-Dec for the family album - as well as Sept-Dec for the big kids album. I think I might still need to order summer photos for their album but that's not a today thing. I've spent WAY too much money on photos for now. DD leaves early tomorrow for Minnesota to do 10 days on Boundary Waters. She's very excited - she had such a wonderful experience there last year. editing - I did one more layout - also for Shimelle's sticker class

Oh nylene, I'm so heartbroken for you. ((((hugs)))) Complain away, you have every right and we are happy to listen (I am anyway lol) I understand what you mean about expecting it, but also being so let down by the outcome as well. I hope we see you tomorrow night to chat for a bit. Linda the grad photo of C is beautiful and so it the page, I love the purple. And the grid, man I love grids and never think to do those. I also need to finish up that Shimelle class, you did a great job on your out of the box page. kitbop yay for the printer! boo for the roomba. For me, being able to print photos is a higher priority than vacuuming lol. Are you packed and ready to go? kellyr21 I don't really follow much except football, and a little bit the NBA, I'm excited for the football season to start again lol. "Receivers" released on Netflix and I will be checking that out for sure. Man, work has been a little crazy and I've worked a lot catching up from the holiday. They sure make us pay for a long weekend lol. This is the first overtime I've worked in a. couple years and I've worked late every night this week. Not Friday though. There is no working late on Friday lol. Wanted to drop in and say Hi!

Thank you joyfulnana - today I'm going to try and finish up the patterned paper class. (((Hugs))) sorrry about all the overtime. I'm definitely planning on joining Friday but might be late. kitbop - when do you leave? So excited for you Dropped DD17 off for her carpool to the airport. They were stuffed in the car like sardines because they had reserved a van and ended up with an Armada and there was significantly less space than anticipated especially with all the luggage

Safe travels to your dd, Linda. How long will this adventure be? I love how you are so ready to step out of your comfort zone. That circle grid for the sticker class is really cool! I, too, am excited for you, kitbop, and wondering when you are wheels up? How long will you be there? Boo to overtime, joyfulnana. I always dreaded getting back to work after a break b/c the work seems to pile up waiting for you. Had a nice day with justjac yesterday. We watched the parade, although it was HOT for this Alberta girl, had a nice lunch, visited the LSS, and I got to see IRL some of her recent card creations. So wonderful! Then I printed some photos and did some errands while in town. Forgot to pick up page protectors at M's. Ordered on line when I got home for pick up in store b/c my dd will be in town today, but when the Order-Ready email came I am scheduled to pick them up in CALGARY! Need to phone today and see if I can sort that out. Back to housework today: two more bedrooms and a bath & a half to clean upstairs. I don't plan to tackle this floor until closer to their ETA. No use cleaning something just to have us mess it all up again LOL.

Thanks grammadee . She'll be back on the 23rd - they go onto the water on the 13th and off on the 22nd so she'll be radio silent that whole time - no cell service on the Boundary Waters. Glad you had fun with justjac - it sounds like a great day! Hope you can get things straightened out with M's. Good luck with the housework. I have some to do today but hope to focus on scrappy and photo stuff mostly. Since I finished up Shimelle's sticker class, I moved on to finishing her patterned paper class. One more lesson to go now And I've finished up Shimelle's patterned paper class! and my first layout for Shimelles long-awaited punches class - in retrospect - vellum wasn't the best choice for my punched circles- they're a little too subtle. I may make another layout with prompt... A second attempt at the same Shimelle class lesson

Linda oh I had a chuckle at that last page with them in the box lol. I haven't completely finished any of the shimelle classes. I'm thinking I may take a page out of grammadee's book and watch the videos and get my take aways, without trying to do the sample. At least I'll feel better that I watched the video and gleaned some info from it lol. Hey gramma, thinking of you! grammadee you and justjac have the best adventures together. It would be so cool to live near some of you guys. Oh my goodness! I just googled how far you are from Calgary! No wonder you said CALGARY! That would be quite a drive for page protectors, I hope they can send them to your store. I need a cleaning fairy, but the cleaning never stops really anyway does it? That was one thing I loved about scrapping from the start. A done page stays done lol. I don't prefer to work overtime, but I am grateful I can use it at my discretion. I know a lot of employers don't allow you to work more than your 40. And this season is still pretty calm overall.

Thanks joyfulnana - I figure I have some extra time while DD is away and DH never minds if I spend extra time scrapping so...now is a good time to make some progress on my Shimelle classes. But yes - watching the video is probably sufficient to give you some ideas to incorporate. gramma - you are in my prayers nylene - you are also in my prayers. Also from the punches class

Good Friday morning, Pokeys. Hoping all is going well. My thoughts are with you, nylene and gramma . As scrapincin used to say, "Growing old is not for WIMPS!" Even younger people are not immune. While my dd got a sigh of relief "negative" on her tests yesterday, my ddil is waiting for medical people to come up with a plan after her "positive" result a couple of weeks ago. She is the one planning to bring the boys here next week, but all plans could change if she is booked in for surgery &/or treatment instead. grammadee you and justjac have the best adventures together. Wouldn't it be fun to live in a bubble with a smaller radius? But I guess if we are inventing ways to send tomatoes across cyberspace, maybe we could teleport ourselves, too. And the supplies/tools we want to lend each other... The Michaels head office lady cancelled my order that went to Calgary. Then I ordered from the "local" store (about an hour away from home). Dd was able to pick up the protectors before driving home. The error had been mine (of course). I had decided to order multiple sets, and I guess when the local store did not have the quantity I had fed in, the site helpfully shopped around for me and slotted in a store that DID. Yesterday's order was just for the one set I needed and I checked the pickup location before I hit the last button. More cleaning on the agenda this morning. And I have to make one birthday card. Dd's birthday is Sunday, so as they are dropping the dogs off here Saturday evening, then picking them up Sunday evening, and since my niece is planning to come here to make cards on Sunday, I thought I could make dd's then and give it to her that evening. But her dh called to invite us to an early birthday dinner this evening, so I am thinking I should have one ready for when we go to that? But lack of time and lack of Mojo do not predict a positive outcome. If I had a clue what I was going to put on that card, it would help... Okay. off to get started on the cleaning. ITA with you, joyfulnana : housework does not give me nearly as much joy as scrapbooking, for the reason you stated, and for many other reasons...

Sending prayers for gramma nylene and grammadee’s dil. Great job finishing those classes Linda. DH and I are driving all the way across Saskatchewan for my family reunion, so I won’t be able to visit tonight. We’re picking my mom and sister up on the way. We rented a cabin for five days so we have a couple extra days to relax. We’re bringing all the things! It’s a good thing DH has a truck. Between clothes, lawn chairs, a cooler, food, a few games and books, plus my mom and sister’s stuff? the back will be full. My only other plans this summer are a weekend in the city for our anniversary and a week at my sister’s. I am enjoying my quiet crafty summer so far even if the heat was crazy this week.
