This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members. If you are on a Team, complete the 4 challenges and post them on this thread for an extra 4 points.

Happy Canada to my Canadian friends!! Thanks for starting us up nylene! I can't believe it's already July. I hope everyone has an awesome holiday week/weekend! We are closed Friday so I do get a long weekend and I'm looking forward to it. The weekend was fun. With Rudy and DS2 over we played games and laughed so much we were exhausted from it. And the next thing I knew, the scrapbooks were out. DS2 was looking for a particular photo, but saw so many he things he had forgotten, and said several times how glad he is I do this. But it was when Rudy said "Hey! I want to look at my books!" that my heart went into meltdown over load And my mojo is renewed lol. Looking forward to starting fresh on a new Q and hopefully making some progress on something somewhere lol.

Thanks for the new thread, nylene. So sweet that Rudy and his dad appreciate your books, joyfulnana. That’s always a mojo boost. Happy Canada Day, kitbop and justjac. Busy day in our little town, starting with a pancake breakfast and a parade. Dgs is pumped to ride on his baseball team float. The kids will have water guns to spray the spectators. His dad will be one of the guys manning the dunk tank. That and lots of other activities planned for the arena and grounds. I promised to join our seniors club with our table at the craft fair this afternoon. My brother and his wife will be performing at the jam this evening.

Thank you for the Holiday shout-out! This is one of my favourite holidays because 1. summer 2. no pressure. Today, we might go for a walk, work in the basement (absolutely full of boxes and looks like we moved in yesterday), and maybe go somewhere for fireworks, but - no pressure! grammadee - your day sounds exciting, but not relaxing! joyfulnana - YAY for Mojo! I completely understand the joy of having family "see" your hobby. Sounds like a wonderful weekend. We played a lengthy family game on Saturday night and had a blast. Unfortunately - DD had just gotten into the shower and she takes at least 40 minutes for that task. So we played without her (hey, her BF was included tho!) and was she ANNNNNNNGRY! Such a spoiled baby of the family.

O Canada
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly does Canada Day recognise?

Happy Canada Day kitbop and grammadee. AussieMeg it is the day that Canada became a united dominion instead of three colonies of Great Britain. We are not doing anything exciting today. We got groceries and then I went shopping with a friend.

Love the way you made the same card design into two unique cards, Linda. Yesterday was fun but exhausting. Got tons of photos on my phone. Going to transfer a few to my phone today so I can share them. I am planning a super quiet day, today. Have a LO spread out on my counter, but not trusting my tired brain to put it together in any way that makes logical or creative sense. I also need to put together a couple of cards this week, but waiting for some ideas to drop in before I start...

Happy Tuesday! Waving hi to you ladies! Hope you are well today. I have been on a deep cleaning mission. It all started when I watched this YT video of using baking soda to clean your stainless steel kitchen sink. I was shocked at how good it worked. I have been trying to get those stains on the sink clean for a long time and who knew it was so easy. This motivated me to attack some other areas around here to clean. It is funny how organizing and cleaning improves our moods. I have been painting, too. I am doing some floral arrangement paintings and I will share pics soon. Ron saw my art and said it was beautiful. He's kind words inspired me to make more. So now I am making two more. LOL! joyfulnana , it is cool when a loved one appreciates our crafts and tells us. Yes, motivation "city" for sure. No big plans for the 4th so far. Happy our Canadian peas got to celebrate. grammadee , that pancake breakfast and parade sounds fun. linda - Your cards are so fabulous!!! I can tell you are having fun making them. GO girl! Wow, your farm box is great. I have heard of those and would like to do that one day. I have dreamed of starting a community garden in town where people can pay to have a small patch of land to grow veggies and flowers. I used to see these on PBS tv shows and thought that was a neat idea especially for us apartment dwellers. joyfulnana - So sweet your ds and dgs enjoyed your scrapbooking. Also, I am VERY happy your a/c is working and Abby is back to normal. kitbop- How is the trip planning going. How long will you be gone? So excited for you all. AussieMeg- Waving hi and wishing you a nice day! justjac - Happy Summer break to ya. Any trips this Summer? grammadee - Wow, look at those veggies from your garden! Looks great! How is the tomato plant coming along? nylene - Tomorrow night at the concert is military night. I think it is the U. S. Marine's band. There usually is a big group and they do patriotic songs.

Happy Wednesday! Such pretty cards Linda, you really have me thinking about the sheetloads. You guys I'll jump into anything that looks new and shiny to my brain lol. kellyr21 I need to so some deep cleaning and decluttering myself. Especially the decluttering. It is amazing how much just cleaning and straightening up a room can change your mood. I can remember some angry cleaning sessions. Those were always good for getting rid of the anger. Enjoy your concert! grammadee I hope you get some rest and your brain is filled with ideas! Last day of work for the week and I'm soooo ready for a long weekend. No plans yet for any of it, just not being at work is enough lol. Hmmm I should maybe do at least a little of that mood changing decluttering . Oh! My only plan is to be here Friday night to crop if anyone is going to be around.

Happy Wednesday! Hope your long weekend is restful and restoring, joyfulnana. Didn't we have this discussion last month: it doesn't have to be exciting OR productive, right? I slept in this morning, so kinda starting the day on the wrong foot. But I will have the house to myself for a couple of hours this morning, so hoping to construct a couple of cards. I have dreamed of starting a community garden in town where people can pay to have a small patch of land to grow veggies and flowers. I used to see these on PBS tv shows and thought that was a neat idea especially for us apartment dwellers. The town justjac lives in has plots available next to one of their parks. Not sure how they work for signing up? And I remember reading about raised gardens set up on the ROOFs of apartment buildings, open to residents, like a storage locker in the basement, I guess. A set up like that would have to be constructed for, I think, with the extra weight and the water...

joyfulnana - enjoy your long weekend even if it's quiet and relaxing (maybe especially if it's quiet and relaxing?) Thank you - the sheetload sketches make it easy to pull together cards that look put together because she's already done the heavy lifting of figuring out proportions etc... grammadee - sorry about the sleeping in - hopefully it has helped you feel more rested. And I remember reading about raised gardens set up on the ROOFs of apartment buildings, open to residents, like a storage locker in the basement, I guess. A set up like that would have to be constructed for, I think, with the extra weight and the water... YES they most assuredly do need to take the extra weight (dirt and plants are heavy) into account during the construction (or renovation) process. In general, an existing building probably wouldn't be able to have gardens added without renovating the supports. Saw the podiatrist this morning and he's sending me to physical therapy (in-person this time). I do like the PT he's referring me to - DD17 saw him a couple of years ago and he was very knowledgable and personable.

I can remember some angry cleaning sessions. Those were always good for getting rid of the anger. Enjoy your concert! Yes, focussing on a task that really feels virtuous when you are done helps my mindset too. DH and DS2 went over to the "old" house today: it's fixed, cleaned, staged, and ready for market, but the patio was full of weeds so we had to get that done before photography tomorrow. With my neck, I didn't want to be weeding. When they left, I thought I'd go down and organize in the basement for 15 minutes...and emerged 3 hours later with the basement cleared and functional. I mean - still many boxes that need to be sorted thru, but every box is in it's proper part of the basement and tidy, and the living part of the basement is usable. I now plan to relax and feel justified since I also cleaned the house the morning and did a big Costco shop. It all started when I watched this YT video of using baking soda to clean your stainless steel kitchen sink. This was a favourite trick of my Mom's that I had to teach DH: she would roll her eyes when I complained we were out of "SOS" scrub pads and get out the baking soda to show me it was just as good on pots & pans & sinks & stoves. And less abrasive. Probably better for the environment too We have several "community" gardens in neighbourhoods here. A large plot in a park, and everyone involved plants/tends and they divide up the harvest. I'm sure there are many who freely help themselves too...I've wondered how they make that work out. An extra bonus to gardening: apparently the germs in dirt of gardening are super good for our own immune systems. Kids who grow up in outside dirt tend to be healthier! Another "house is trying to kill me" story: DS1 and I were putting up shelves in the basement, and I simply stepped backwards - into a thigh-deep hole. Apparently sump pumps are deep and the lid isn't exactly secure. We've never had a sump pump before! If I weren't flexible and strong (GO SQUATS!!!) I'd have injured myself but as it was I just did a super deep squat on my other leg and only scraped my foot as I went down. Ankle deep water, and an infected deep scratch, but no ankle sprains or anything. My heart was in my chest! Jacob's face was priceless as I disappeared into the floor...

That reminds me of the time we were living with my grandparents and mum was up in the (non-finished) attic and slipped or something but one leg came through the ceiling in the upstairs hall. My dad and granddad laughed and laughed once they knew she was ok.

Glad that killer house didn't succeed! I am thinking your dh will figure out a way to stop the sump area from targeting you, like he did the stairs. My flabby never-done-squats legs would prob STILL be stuck in the drain while the fire department--or some other crisis agency--would be trying to extricate me!

kitbop, I am so glad you were ok after your "deep squat"! If that happened to me I'd just tell them to cover me with dirt and add a headstone! I hope you can make that a little less tippy. I am wishing you a wonderful, fulfilling trip next week! Linda, not a fun experience to go THROUGH the floor of the attic, I would bet. Glad it became a funny experience, not a tragedy. I love your SLOC cards. Do you mind sharing your dimensions? I really don't like sending 5x7 cards. They leave too much writing room. joyfulnana, so glad that your mojo has returned. Eric was here yesterday and looked through my latest album of layouts with his granddaughters. He laughed and enjoyed it so much, and just like you, my mojo jumped. Hope it's still there when we return next week. kellyr21, congrats on the cleaning activities that lighten your mood. I find that it works with me too. I should do it more often. Enjoy your Marine band. I love, love, love any of their performances. I'm glad you and Ron can enjoy them! I am trying to get results from my MRI before next week. It's supposed to post to my portal, but nothing yet. I got my haircut a few towns over yesterday and realized I could drive right past Silhouette company. So...I took the printout of the 10 files I bought on June 5 that have not shown up on my account. No one was at the front desk, so because I am so upset at them, I banged and banged on the door until someone came. They finally got a customer service rep (which is a total misnomer at that company) who can't figure out where the files have gone. He made a copy of my printout and promised to just add them to my account by hand. My printout shows the money was paid almost a month ago. Anyone want to take bets on when I will see those files? Thanks to Claudia who bought and sent one to me, I got DS's card to him on time. That was my tantrum for the week!

Do you mind sharing your dimensions? I can try -I pretty much eyeballed it. the bigger piece is about 5" x3.5" the smaller patterned pieces are 5" by .75" and I didn't measure the cardstock for them, I just matted them and called it good. The circle is a 2" because that's what punch I had handy and I just trimmed a bit off the bottom. So...I took the printout of the 10 files I bought on June 5 that have not shown up on my account. You're welcome - they were quick and easy - the hard part for me was finding coordinating scraps of PP but that's often my issue because I don't always buy coordinating papers in the first place.

Happy Fourth! to those celebrating today.
DH is at work - he'll probably get out early though - but has tomorrow off. That was a bit of a surprise when he mentioned it last night but he's happier with a long weekend than a day off and then back to work for a day so...
We don't really have any plans - DD17 will grill hamburgers and local sausages but that's really all we do.
Last night was our weekly game night. We played a simple little Lego game - there is a buildable die, 4 sheep, 1 wolf, and a bunch of white 2x2 pieces that are wool. You each have a sheep, roll the dice and get 1 or 2 wool to attach to your sheep or sheer your sheep of the collected wool or trade your sheep or send the wolf to steal the wool from another sheep. Winner is the person who has sheared the most wool from their sheep. I did not win. But it was fun.

Happy Independence Day! to our American pokeys! What are your plans for the day? Not a holiday here in Canada, but it is my dd's wedding anniversary. They are camping at the lake and last I heard we were invited for a wiener roast supper to celebrate. Before that, I finally have an appointment to get my hair cut. Then I need to deliver the last pages for dgd's scrapbook to the printer and pick up the batch I dropped off last week. Got my scrappy GO bag in the vehicle and plan to complete the final page there with photos I will print this morning. Nothing like the last minute to get things accomplished LOL. That game sounds fun, Linda. What is it called? I hope I catch your cleaning bug, kellyr21. We will have a houseful the night of the 15th, and this whole house needs a good clean before they get here.
