Yes - welcome beachy! nylene - I'm sure it was sad to say goodbye as they head away. I would hate to see you miss that reunion but I would worry about that drive.

nylene - I can feel your excitement for Emily! Let us know when your new GGDA arrives and what her name is! You amaze me with how you get around so much. Did your DH do most of the driving when he had his eyesight? My DH much prefers driving to being a passenger, so I let him, and I wonder how he'll feel if he has to give it up. grammadee - LOL, your tough guy DH needed you home! Glad you got to enjoy a bit of the festivities anyways and that he's starting to improve. I'm sure you are very sympathetic with his digestive woes. joyfulnana - Your journey is reminding me of ours with Lulu (who we lost at age 12 last Spring...) and I keep hoping you have a different end to your story. I keep getting posts from our local SPCA and rescues about beautiful cats who love other cats who need a home and I just keep repeating to myself: "two is enough. two is enough. two is enough" but maybe three... Linda - I'm still living close to a box of tissues, but generally my energy is much better. It's day 9 for me, and tomorrow the hospital policy is that I can unmask while i work. That's crazy - I would worry so much about my fragile/compromised patients! I'll stay in a mask tomorrow, then I have 2 days off work, and *then* maybe we'll unmask! OTOH, I did go out for supper with the whole family Friday without thinking about how infectious I might be?!?

Thank you nylene for the welcome. I’m not new to the board, just new to posting. I’ve been away from scrapbooking for a few years and felt really stuck getting started again. So I joined a team this round hoping it would get me going. A bit about me… I live in Ontario, Canada with my DH and we have two grown children and four grandchildren.

beachy, so nice to get to know you. Some of our favorite Pokeys live in Canada. Hope you feel right at home. I am in Utah, married with 4 children, 14 grands, and tomorrow we will have 5 great-grands with another due before the end of the month. I signed up for a team this quarter but have not been able to keep up. I'm glad I don't feel pressured to do so. Linda, I am worrying about you. The news here is all about flooding and winds in your very town. I know you said you are on higher ground, but I am still concerned for you. Please let us know how you are...if you have electricity and cell service. Prayers for all those who are in the path of the very wet storm. How's the Covid? kitbop, I think you are being considerate of your patients by wearing a mask until you feel better. Hope you get completely back on your feet soon. Seems like the fatigue lasts too long. joyfulnana, I hope Abby is doing better every day. She has been such a wonderful companion to you. I am working on Christmas cards. They are super simple, not even double matted which I usually do. But I really wanted to make them again this year. It will be nice to get them finished and ready before my surgery. Have a great week, Pokeys!

Thanks for checking in Linda- I've been reading all the weather articles trying to figure out if you are OK... hi beachy! Where are you in ON? I'm in Cambridge. My LSS's are Younique in Guelph and Two Scrapbook Friends in Waterloo - although I've been doing more shopping online because Younique doesn't have all the lines I want (my vibe is different from theirs!) and 2SB friends is expensive and they annoy me when they have sales but anything remotely new is excluded. Welcome back to scrapbooking!

Power is back on but not internet yet
Lots of branches down but we fared ok
Lots of flooding in my community and others nearby
We’ve had over 8” of rain between last night and today and another 4-5” expected overnight as the storm very slowly passes over us
Please excuse typos I’m not used to posting from my phone

Hang in there Linda. Welcome, beachy to the Pokeys and back to scrapbooking! I am also in Canada, but in Alberta. Dh & I live on a farm we rent out to neighbours and we maintain the acreage around the house. We have four adult "kids" who have given us eleven grandkids, aged almost 9 to almost 25 years of age. I can feel your excitement as you wait to meet your new great grands, nylene. I hope your card making went well. I finally managed to put together a LO today, and am hoping to get another one started tomorrow. If all goes well, justjac and I will have a little mini crop on Wednesday here at the farm, so hoping to get a few more LO's done then. Dh's digestion is improving. But he is a MAN. And he has been SICK. I think he is also dealing with dropping the one pain med he had been taking but which the dr and dd and I and the pharmacist all agree has a risk of negative digestive side effects. Currently he is taking Tylenol arthrytis capsules. They may deal with the pain, but they don't give him the feeling of relaxation that the other med gave him, so he is antsy. But also still tired. At least that means he is taking time to rest. He told me tonight he plans to drive to the next nearby town on Tuesday to pick up a battery for a handyman to install in the quad when he makes the other repairs. (Dsil is paying for the repairs and the labour, so he and dgs can take the quad out exploring this fall.)

Linda I've been thinking of you all day. Especially once I heard how slow this is going to be to move out. I hope they get everything back up. Man that's a lot of rain. Do you have a basement that might flood? I hope the Covid lets up soon. Welcome beachy ! nylene you sure have been doing a lot of driving with that bad shoulder. And so many beautiful new babies in your family! Isn't that the coolest trick for cards that gramma shared? I might even make mine this year lol. I'm glad you were able to make them this year, I know that was important to you. grammadee I'm glad DH is home. Haying in the 30's sounds pretty awesome, I'm sorry you had to cut it short. kitbop what percentage of well are you now after working a few days? I would not want to be around patients unmasked. Even with a cold anymore. After a lot of thinking and crying, I decided to treat Abby as if she's on hospice and stop forcing food on her. She's starting to shy away when I reach out to pet her, and that's not how I want things to be at the end. I'm going to spoil the heck out of her and see how it goes and follow her lead. I'm much less stressed now, and oddly enough she seems to be less stressed too.... hmmmm lol. She's eating a bit better and oddly enough is more than willing to let me spoon feed her today lol. But we have a different vibe now, and it feels better.

Says he feels weak, but that is not surprising since he was basically lying still for three days. When I read this, I skipped over still and read it as "he was basically lying for three days" LOLOLOL> I'm glad he's at least trying to get some rest. I hope he's back to his old self soon. Is there a different med they can give him that will do a better job relaxing him?

So I joined a team this round hoping it would get me going. A bit about me… I live in Ontario, Canada with my DH and we have two grown children and four grandchildren. Sorry about the lack of relaxation with it though. I hope he continues to rest and improve. Do you have a basement that might flood? no basements here in Florida for the most part - the water table is really high so they would likely be swimming pools much of the time. After a lot of thinking and crying, I decided to treat Abby as if she's on hospice and stop forcing food on her. She's starting to shy away when I reach out to pet her, and that's not how I want things to be at the end. I'm going to spoil the heck out of her and see how it goes and follow her lead. But we have a different vibe now, and it feels better. I'm so glad - I think that's a good approach and I hope that both of you continue to be less stressed and enjoy your time together. (((Hugs))) Dh and I walked down the little hill between our little section at the top of the subdivion and the majority of the subdivison - there's a little creek that runs under the road there. this is what it usually looks like (photo is from earlier this year) And this was today

nylene , that’s exciting that you are about to have two new grands! My grandkids are 8, 7, 5 and 9 months. Until this past March my daughter and her three lived just across the road from us and I would see them every day. Then they moved to another town, which is only about half an hour away but it’s not the same as being a daily part of their lives and I miss them terribly. I’m impressed you’re getting your Christmas's cards done already. How many do you make? When is your surgery scheduled?

I have been to Two Scrapbook Friends a couple of times, but not in a long time. I haven’t been to Younique before. I actually used to live in Guelph about 15 years ago but it wasn’t there then. There is a store about 20 minutes from me in Hillsburgh called The Scrap Club but it’s pretty small. I’m trying not to go shopping until I get to using up some of what I have because it’s just been sitting here the past few years!

Linda - great then and now pictures of the creek! Scrap worthy for Friday perhaps Glad you are relatively high and dry and that your linemen were working hard for the county. WTF Florida! The youtube video of the water was cool footage. joyfulnana - thinking of you and Abby and hoping you find a new rhythm that makes everyone happy!

Thanks guys Lots of closed roads in my county and the next and lots of people without power still. So grateful to all the out-of-area and out of state lineman here helping. We won't be able to check on the old house any time soon - the road it is on and several headed towards are all closed due to flooding. I feel like it was several days before they were passable when the first TS Debbie came through in 2012 so that'll probably be true this time also. Today we start cleanup - our property has lots of trees so there's lots of branches to pickup. DH is back at work so...I know my plans for today. kitbop - I probably will end up scrapping the creek comparison pics but it's unlikely to be this Friday since I don't print at home.

Here is hoping that there has been no damage to your other house, Linda . And that the cleanup is not too difficult. Did your "tree guys" come yet to deal with the last wind damage? Hoping both you and Abby find some peace, joyfulnana . kitbop! We’re practically neighbours! Wish I had known you two when my son in law was posted at Meaford and I was driving from London up to stay with them LOL. Can't wait to see your "simple" cards, nylene . I plan to head into town later this morning for 10% Tuesday. I need to check on dd's dogs while she is gone for the day, and drop some cards in the mail as well. This afternoon I will be blanching some veggies picked Sunday, and searching out a few things I want to use when scrapping tomorrow.

Thanks - it fared ok last round so hopefully. No, tree guys have not come out yet for the other tree - and I suspect it just moved lower on their list. It's safe where it is and not threatening buildings or roads so... Just spent an hour outside starting the yard cleanup. Inside now on a water break and then will head back outside. Fingers crossed that the county announces a pickup day for post-storm yard debris

Can he Dr prescribe something to help him feel more relaxed? Maybe an anxiety med? nylene Happy to see that you have come up with a design that lets you get your cards done. I know you want to do them. Great-grand is coming today, right? Linda You are certainly getting your share of )_*(^(*) this year!! grammadee , that layout is fabulous. I love the quilt-pieced heart and all the action shots. That jump card is perfect. Simply amazing job! Glad your DH is doing better, but I hope he can get something to relax or that it just comes with time. Your Haying in the 30's sounds so much like our Pioneer Day in the tiny town where I was born. Wish I could virtually attend your fun day. Linda , I am glad you are about restored to normal with services. That is an enormous amount of rain. We would have a whole basement full to the top with that much rain. I'm glad you made sure you had all the things you would need prepared early. Don't overdo the limb pick ups. I'm sure you are not back to normal since the Covid! Take it easy. I love your before and after photos. You can scrap them next Friday....if the storm moves a bit faster. beachy , I grew up in potato country in Idaho. I miss the open fields and country life. I understand about having grands move away. For years every Tuesday was Grandma Day and my grands came to spend the day. Then they were transferred clear across the country to Georgia. I cried for days. They eventually moved back and 3 of our 4 children live in our county. The other is in CA but has spent the last week here visiting. Even my married grands are in Utah, though scattered. Our DGD will be induced in about an hour and is expecting a baby girl. How are you doing getting back into scrapping? I hope it is going well. My surgery is scheduled for Sept 26. They will do a total reversal shoulder. It leaves me one-handed for quite a while. I had a similar surgery in March but it all pulled out, thus the need for the total. I will miss being able to do much scrapping for 2-3 months again. gramma , I totally agree with your feelings for joyfulnana ! You have a great way of putting it! So glad to have your ideas of mass producing cards. I love all your double mats, but for this year I didn't even do that. I cut up all my 6x6 paper pads and mixed and matched and added a print from Etsy. Easy peasy and they will do for this year. When do you start your "next steps". joyfulnana , I am so sorry about Abby, but think you have found a way to deal with it as comfortably as possible. I have done a lot of praying for grand-dogs and other pets, and Abby is in my prayers with you. She is so lucky to have you as her mom! How is work going. Does it begin to slow down as the summer comes to an end? kitbop , I am glad you are feeling better. I think you are smart to keep wearing a mask. You are a very caring professional to take such care for your compromised patients. The world needs lots more people like you in the medical field...and all other fields! I am taking it easy on Christmas for a couple of days. I want to get all the b-day cards made for the rest of the year so I won't be tempted to try to make them one-handed. Then I will return to Christmas cards. My poor scraproom is such a mess, with all the Christmas paper drawers out and scraps scattered around. I may have to stop and clean up the mess before going on! My DH walked in and laughed. He wondered how I worked in that mess.

When do you start your "next steps". nyleneLast week I met with the surgeon - all post op pathology was clear. Last Tuesday I met with the Oncologist - No chemo. I didn't think that was on the table any way, but good for the confirmation. He's sending me for a bone density scan since the medication I will have to take can cause brittle bones Tomorrow I go see Radiology to find out if/when/how long radiation will be required. The Oncologist said that they may pass on it. So - all in all good news!

Do we have new baby safely on scene? joyfulnana - how is Abby today? justjac and grammadee - not jealous. Hmph. Me - I've got 2 days of our Florida trip printed, and am working on day 3. 8 more to go. I'm loving how my printer prints on the HP paper I purchased. I don't know why I tried to cheap out on lesser brands. You get what you pay for!
