Hi Pokeys. Thank you so much for all the hugs and support. That was hard, but I know it was the right decision for her. I'm doing ok overall. And in a few weeks I'll be looking for another cat buddy. I can't be a cat lady with no cat lol. But I feel little dramatic considering the losses of family members you have all had in the last few years. Linda I'll be drooling over your kitty pages for sure I just love that LO of you and DD. And I really love our Friday nights too. Ugh, your weather sounds dreadful though. This has been the weirdest summer. We only had one real true heat wave and that was last month. The majority of the summer it was in the upper 80's low 90's. This weekend it's in the high 70's overcast, and slightly chilly. Which I LOVE! I'm sorry to the Summer peas, I love love love Fall! But preseason football is here, and I'm excited! gramma you sticking with the 49ers? kitbop I still literally LOL every time I remember that you rooted for the 49ers last year when I thought you were Switerland LOLOLOL. I stand on my theory that a woman in the White House and a Chiefs SuperBowl 3 peat will break the curse of the 2020's lol. I hope you are having a good weekend! nylene , how soon will you be able to meet Amelia Rose? What a beautiful name. And I'm sure she is too! Oh I just saw your latest post. I'm so happy she's home! beachy Enjoy your week away with family! It's sounds awesome.

How interesting that Scott's DGGF would be a similar age to my DH's grandfather. His parents were born in 1905 & 1906 his side of the family tended towards early marriage and parenthood - his grandmother was born in 1917 (and didn't pass until 2020) had his mum before she was 18, DH is the youngest but MIL had her oldest at 17 also. My three sister in laws all had their first kids at 16/17. Whereas my dad was born in 1925 (parents born 1891 and 1900) and my mum in 1936 (parents born 1903)

Dh worked this morning and then I had PT this afternoon - they worked me hard and I had more pain when I left than when I walked in. And then we took DD17 back to school shopping and my whole right leg from the hip down is very unhappy right now and the left one is more achy than usual also.
So I'm taking it easy the rest of the day. We had a late lunch so I'm off the hook for cooking dinner.

joyfulnana - thinking of you my friend. Today will be lonely I'm sure. Hope you can touch base with Cody or Rudy and find some distraction! Scrapbooking might be an excellent hobby, but I don't think it's the best way to stay out of an emotional funk! Knitting and netflix? Have you watched "the Bear"? I think it's on Disney+. We're enjoying it - not super light, but a really good story, interesting characters. Linda - I hope your legs feel better today! Do you feel the PT is overall helping? It's such a fine line. My *personal* opinion, which you didn't ask for is that sometimes muscles are tight to protect an inflamed/irritated/arthritic structure underneath it, so while loosening up that muscle feels a lot better, you still need to be careful not to flare up what's under it. We had company at lunch yesterday, then DH and I drove into downtown Toronto. Did you guys know it's the 4th biggest city in NORTH AMERICA? I didn't. No wonder I don't like it! In light traffic it's 1.25 hrs to downtown. Being a summer Saturday, we expected reasonable traffic as people leave the city. NOPE! it took us almost 2.5 hrs from driveway to parking. Then a rushed Chipotle supper (as we didn't have time to go out as planned) and the show was mediocre. Not awful. But not what I expected. Then frustration getting out of the city (ugh. big cities!) and overall we got home close to midnight wondering if we'd enjoyed our night. So my social battery and productive drive are nil today. Gonna print pictures and let the roomba do some work

Thanks kitbop - your personal opinion is always welcome. I'm not sure if the joint issues or the muscle/tendon/ligment issues are the underlying thing - chicken and egg I think. I have a wierd mix of hyperflexibility and hypoflexability and a 40 yr history of joint issues. This IS the first round of PT to focus on more than just one joint - in the past it's all been focused on my knees (which admitedly have been the biggest issue) and this time they're working on ankles/knees/hips together. My PT thinks that the plantar fascitis (which is technically what I was sent to PT for this time) is caused by the tightness in the rest of the leg. joyfulnana - (((Hugs)))) thinking of you today. I'm hoping you have company today as well.

Good Sunday morning, Pokeys. Hope that you can rest your joints and muscles today, Linda. Toronto is not my favourite city, kitbop. Have not been there many times, but I found it huge and impersonal. This prairie girl needs space around me. And people who try to help someone who is lost... Hoping you have some things to distract you today, joyfulnana, but as my dd says, "Sometimes ya just gotta FEEL the FEELS!", cuz the only way out is through. I agree with kitbop that some Rudy time might just be what the doctor ordered, though. How is Amelia doing today, nylene? My heart goes out to Mama, at home with a baby who had some breathing issues. My dd "turned black in the nursery" I was told, and I don't know if I slept for weeks after bringing her home, listening to hear if her breathing was okay. Dd & family are planning to come today to help with garden stuff and take on a few jobs for Grampa. I want to harvest anything that is anywhere near ready today b/c I am planning to drive to Calgary on Tuesday and be there until Friday. Have been invited to attend a new 11-yr-old's family birthday supper on Tuesday, and I have promised to take him shopping for his gift. Our oldest dgs will be there from Wednesday this week to Tuesday next. I will be missing their engagement party Saturday, but hope to meet up with both of them while I am down there. I have cards made for two dgk's bd's in early September, plus the two August bd cards, all of which I will be taking with me. Just have to put together an engagement card. I don't have an engagement gift (have never been invited to an engagement party before). I am thinking I will offer to put together a scrapbook for them if they would like one. Thinking he would be on board with that (he loves my scrapbooks), but I want to talk it over with the bride. If she has different plans, that is okay with me. If she wants me to go ahead, we can talk about colours and headings and... (I would be doing just the book, with places in it for them to put photos and journaling). Have a wonderful Sunday, Pokeys!

Ugh kitbop. I hate driving in big cities, it's makes me so anxious and angry. I stay off of I-70 here if I can, I hate that highway lol. I'm sorry the evening wasn't what you expected. Linda I hope the soreness eases up for you. Enjoy your night off! Oh my grammadee that would scare me too! I was always so worried about SIDS that I was waking often to listen for breathing. I hope you have something to harvest. I love that your DGS wants an album. (he knows what's up lol) Great idea to let the bride have a lot of input. (if she agrees, *fingers crossed*) DGS showed up at my door this morning begging to stay while Dad had practice so I did have some company today. I'm doing pretty well, I'm relieved she's not suffering, but it definitely feels very quiet around here. I am watching a tiktok live - Red States for Harris. I'm so excited to vote.

Sorry your evening didn't go well kitbop - I don't like big cities too much either. grammadee - I love the idea of offering to make an album - that would be a treasure. nylene - how is amelia and her mummy doing? I always stressed with a new baby and I can only imagine that's worse when baby has had issues already. joyfulnana - I'm glad that you had some company and are doing okay. Quiet day here for me. DD17 did the grocery shopping with DH (so she could get driving practise - our Flex is in the shop still and the Mini isn't so comfy in the backseat for me so I stayed home). And then DH worked all afternoon at the office. So I read and did some genealogy - trying to finish up the research on another couple so I can get them written up. First day of school tomorrow. DD has to be at school for 730 as there is a senior breakfast at the stadium before school. They all decorate a burger king crown beforehand and wear that to breakfast and then they all enter the high school as a group. It's a fun tradition. And I'm reasonably sure she'll have practise after school so won't be done until 530 so a long first day.

Happy Monday! Waving hi and I need to catch up here. We went to our last park concert last Wednesday and they always have the city orchestra perform. It was lovely and I like how they have the kids come up at the end one at a time and direct the orchestra. So cool! I'll be back later and going to the gallery, too. Take care, ladies!

kellyr21, I would imagine that you are sad to see the concerts in the park come to an end. It means summer is just about over. Linda, your DD will have a loooong day at school. I hope she doesn't have a lot of days like that. Ours start on Thursday. How is the PT feeling today? I hope it is helping. I look forward to reading your genealogy pages. joyfulnana, I am glad that Rudy is happy to spend time with you. I hate to think of you there alone at this time. Hugs. grammadee, how scary to have a child not breathing well. I had never heard of SIDS until I was pregnant with my 2nd child. It really scared me. My children all did well once we got them here, thank heavens. I don't know how you keep going like you do. I just cannot get my stamina back since my surgery. I hope I will eventually be able to do the things I used to do each day. kitbop, are you feeling back to normal? I am looking forward to your international pages. I hope to travel to Europe through your photos! I am sorry your trip to Toronto was not a lot of fun. I hate driving in lots of traffic and that would make me so nervous! Glad you got home safely. justjac, I envy the time you get to scrap with grammadee. When do you start school again? We had card club this morning and made the cutest card. So versatile and fun. It was fast to make but we stayed and chatted for another hour. It was great to get us all together. I want to make a few more of the cards and I will post them when I do. Waving to all the Pokeys. Have a great week, everyone!

nylene -what a sweet layout and how grownup Swayzee looks! Still sweet as can be though! kellyr21 - sad that your concerts have come to the end for this summer - I know you've enjoyed them nylene - DD shouldn't have many days that she needs to be there early (school starts at 830) but at least twice a week, she'll stay until 530 for practise plus there will be weekly tournaments starting in a few weeks as well. PT went better today - they changed up one of the stretches because they weren't keen on how I limped out of there on Saturday (yeah, me either). Looking forward to seeing your card club card - so nice that you have that to go to.

Linda, you have a very busy DD! I'm sorry the PT has made you sore. I'm glad the therapists are listening to your body. Hope the limp gets better. We have spent all day and half of last night fighting flooding. We had a lot of large hail which suddenly turned to sheets of rain. DH got the pump into the carport immediately, but the water was already half way up the tires. We got the car out and 2 neighbors came with smaller pumps and we were able to keep the indoor damage to just a few inches. The city drains a quarter mile above us were blocked so all their water came down to us, and into our carport. Not nearly as high as the last flood but it looked like we were making a swimming pool. We have lived here over 50 years and have only had this happen 3 times....all in the past 8 years. We now have installed 2 big drains and a good pump, but it comes so fast. We have sand bags we put at the top of the driveway and that really helps. It just means our water runs on down the road to someone else. We haven't figured out how to get the city to clean their drains and they definitely won't pay for restoration.

Hi Pokey's! Happy hump day already! This week is flying by. I feel behind everywhere, at work, around the house, all of it. Work has for some odd reason become busier now, at the end of the season. Hmmmm, our "typical" RV seasons may be shifting due to the hotter than ever summers year after year. People may be putting off travel until it cools off at least a little and paying out of season rates. I'll be keeping an eye on that possible trend. I have not scrapped a wit. In fact until the other day I kept forgetting I was hosting a day for Sketchember! I need life to slow down a little lol. I'll have a nice quiet weekend (I hope!) and would love to finish 2 of my sketches for next month. Of course I've never finished 2 separate layouts in one day, but there's a first time for everything right? nylene I love that page, that patterned paper with that title is awesome! And wow has Swayzee grown up fast. Linda I hope PT starts going better for you. kellyr21 it's hard to believe that fall is coming and before we know it the end of the year! Summer has flown.

nylene - oh no! You definitely didn't need that! I can't believe that the city isn't responsive about cleaning their drains etc...I wonder if your local newspaper might want to get involved (write a story and see if bad publicity gets the city to do their job). I hope there's not much damage. (((Hugs))) and prayers joyfulnana - that's an interesting trend. I know we don't do a whole lot in the summer here because it's just too hot and humid. I hope you get the opportunity to scrapbook. I have PT this afternoon - Tuesday's session went better than Saturday's and I do think it's helping in general. DH has a business trip next week so I won't have another session until that Friday. But I'll keep working on it at home. I'm planning to scrap Friday night whether there's a crop or not. Lately I've only been managing to scrap on Fridays...hoping that'll change but it might not until closer to November.

Thanks for all your concern. We did have standing water in the basement but it just went as far as the bedroom doors. Part of the hallway is carpeted and that got wet, but nothing inside the finished rooms. The rest is unfinished basement and we were able to use the shop vac to get all that up. We have been loaned 3 big fans which have run all day and night and things seem to be almost dry. The damage was just minimal this time. The first time we had to pay restoration bills. We learn better ways to handle the water each time this happens. I hope we don't need to learn more! Linda , I'm glad your PT is going ok. I'm sure doing the exercises at home will help when you can't get to PT. I hope to scrap on Friday, too, with or without a crop. I have a page started and I want to make a bunch of cards. joyfulnana , I hope you have a relaxing weekend. I'm sorry you are busier at work. Maybe people are trying to get one or two last camps in while the weather is not so hot. gramma, are you still going in to work some days or are you totally retired?

Linda I'm glad PT is going better maybe having a little time away from the professionals will let the discomfort ease up. I am cropping tommorrow. You're not alone, Friday is the only time I'm scrapping too. I'm probably dreaming thinking I'll scrap Saturday lol. But I have to get going on my samples for next month. I hope it will bring back the mojo. It's been gone a long time. grammadee how is your gut? And how is DH doing? nylene I'm not as bad as it's been in the past. It sure sounds like a lot to me. Things are moving along here. I don't know why time seems to be such a blur for me but man. I guess I need to sign up for HS Stop the Blur classes! LOL. I picked up groceries tonight, and took one load upstairs. As I came back down the stairs to get the last of them, there was a very tall, stout, pitbull standing frozen solid staring at me. And he kept intently staring at me, not moving as I went back inside. And now he's laying outside my front door. He's white, with a black circle around one eye like the Target dog, but he doesn't look very sweet or friendly lol. I have no idea where he came from or why he's still here. Cody asked me if he was my Guardian dog lol. I guess we shall see lol. It's so strange.

joyfulnana - I'll be there - possibly late, DH has been working late recently which pushes dinner later I didn't realise that there was also a dog distribution system (I'm well aware of the cat version, lol). Sounds like you might have a new friend. Looking forward to my farm box today - they were cancelled last week due to the storm/flooded roads (100% understandable - one of the roads leading to the farm is still flooded) which worked out because I've almost caught up on eating the produce.

Good Friday morning, Pokeys!
I will be driving home today. It has been a busy few days, but I managed to see everyone. Last night, we attended a CFL game—Ottawa against Calgary. It was a close one, won in the last seconds after those seconds had been put back on the clock. My 11-yr-old dgs wanted to get security to “arrest the refs” LOL.
Okay. Gotta get moving. Have a great day!

Safe drive grammadee - glad you saw everyone in your quick trip! Better to watch football now than when the snow is flying joyfulnana - poor pup, is he lost? Give him water! I'm sure you are feeling lost at sea this week with a major upset in your life and routine. Glad we'll see you later on the crop. When buying dog food on Thursday, I met a super friendly pure black cat (15 weeks old) up for adoption in the store. Came home and said to DH, "3 cats would be ok?" and he said "no"... But I was thinking of you because this female black cat was like the yang to Abby's yin! Linda - I looked into local farm boxes...and they aren't so local. Yes, you get local stuff that's in season, but half the box is imported food - like grapes, oranges, etc. I really just want a local box!

I looked into local farm boxes...and they aren't so local. Yes, you get local stuff that's in season, but half the box is imported food - like grapes, oranges, etc. I really just want a local box! not everything in my box is grown on the farm I get it from - and they do label their produce so I know. They also have a farmstand at the farm and bring in stuff from other local and nearby-ish farms and some of that ends up in the box also. Now that said - the pineapple we got this week is definitely imported. And the peaches are from out of state (North Carolina) and so are the sweet potatoes (Mississippi). That's partly because July and early August aren't really big harvest months here - I think it'll be a couple of weeks before local sweet potatoes start to be ready - and probably partly because the heatwave earlier this summer and then the flooding from Debbie have impacted harvesting. This week I got pinepple (imported), sweet potatoes (MS), zucchini (local), peaches (NC), onions (local), tomatoes (local-ish), and corn (also local-ish) - they did grow both corn and tomatoes but their season got cut short due to weather and these are from another Florida farm. But there have definitely been weeks where all or almost all of the items in the box were grown on the farm (about 30 minutes or so from here). But they do supplement with non-farm produce as needed.
