Did anyone see what Shannon Flatley did with the burst die cut page? She’s softdaystudios on IG. It’s gorgeous and she gave enough direction that I think anyone can re-create. Just saw it. It is well done but I stand by my intense dislike of that diecut. I have no regrets selling it.

I thought it was creative and probably the best thing you could do with the die cut but I still don’t like it - it’s so pointy or severe or something.

Has anyone received a Paper Person shipping notice? I received a PP shipping notice this afternoon. No ETA yet, just label created.
I'm working on my 2019 December album.
I have several work and friend parties to document but in my stash there are ZERO stickers/stamps/chipboard that say party - family party, friends party, holiday party, Christmas party, pajama party, nothing!
There's festive and gather and celebrate but no party. Why?
I only found a few stamps with a mention of party or something that would work for that theme (like “Dressed in Holiday Style”). I haven’t looked through embellishments and such yet.

I really like all the pages Annette shared in Product Play. Not overly wrought, all really cute and accessible.
The constant nervous laughter was very grating on my ears though. 🙉

The constant nervous laughter was very grating on my ears though. 🙉 I liked the ideas too but found the videos a bit all over the map - almost like the videos were accidentally posted out of order. Early videos showed already-completed or partially completed ideas that wouldn't be shown until later videos. And vice versa. Anyways, I do like her style and seeing some 4x6 ideas, and appreciate that she showed more than one idea and multiple variations

I know Shimelle’s JYC fell flat for a lot of folks the past few years, I totally get that, so just scroll past if you’re not a fan. Just popping in to relay that she has opened the forums so people can make sure their login/password works, and has Alice ready to reset passwords (the reset button doesn’t work because of spam blockers, and Alice will get to it faster before December 1st). The customer service email where is alice.shimelle.com@gmail.comIt’s the TWENTIETH year of JYC and if you do love it, remember to recommend to a new scrappy friend. Because she gave lifetime access I don’t think she’s earning much income from the class any more. I was considering buying it again under a different email address just to say thank you for many years of inspiring content. Shimelle doesn’t get the credit she deserves for being the first to develop/conceive of the concept to celebrate the holiday season in words and pictures. I’ve been supporting her for years and will continue to do so. Congratulations to Shimelle in her 20th year!!!

Yes!!!!! http://instagram.com/p/DChMEVFOE85 I had a scallop frame in my silhouette files and I figured out how to chop it, copy parts of it, and paste it! This will be my title page background. I stitched the 2024 acetate heart to Kelly purkey green vellum and made a sequin pocket (copied from Nelly and Clem). I’ll mount it to this. So happy.

So Ali's blog post today, with a foundation page...what the heck? That is a weird waste of thickness IMHO. I actually like the color scheme and what she did with the scallop ribbon on the cut down page but it think it would work better with a shorter phrase (the middle being longer just doesn't look right) or in a 10x8 album without the big thick ribbon. But my albums are thick enough as is, that ribbon tied in a knot is just too much. Good use of the awful dove paper though...

So Ali's blog post today, with a foundation page...what the heck? Her projects this year are, so far, big head scratchers for me. I am still smh over how she went through a lot of effort to cut out the middle of the pointy green die cut page to make it an acetate window… just to then fill up the entire window with the pocket thing she made. And the opposite side, the new page for day 3, is pretty much entirely covered also. Just seems convuluted for no good reason.

Not loving the tied bow, I agree that it’s too thick and untying/retying in albums is too fussy. Maybe laying flat and putting magnets or Velcro as the closure would work better.
I do appreciate that Ali is trying to work with the 10x8 paper in a smaller album.

I don't get the final product. The left page was already a lot visually with the number 3 cut up in a way that requires the brain to fill in the blank under the phrase strip. The right page should have been simpified instead of hiding more elements to read. Firmly planted in less-is-more territory the more wonky, flippity-floppity pages I see.

I do appreciate that Ali is trying to work with the 10x8 paper in a smaller album. I always use 6x8 albums for my DD and it annoys me that many papers are designed for 10x8. I'm hoping that, now that Ali is working in a 6x8, she will rethink the designs so that they will work for the smaller albums too. For example, last year's vellum JOY was beautiful, but they didn't work easily in the 6x8's unless you cut the 3 letters apart individually. Also, when there are repeated frames across the page, why can't they design them so that the cutoff would include a column of complete frames (hope that makes sense). And the phrases that go across almost the entire page horizontally! UGH!!

Make papers for both sizes it's a no-brainer in my opinion.

BUT, they have to have a purpose. Whatever Ali did here does not have a purpose, it's just so random. Would that saying not have fit if she turned in vertical? I agree, stop trying to make items designed for 10x8 work in a 6x8 album. It's silly.

Go vertical or go horizontal over two pages with space for a photo strip or an extra bit of vertical fun! I love a large saying that crawls right across a double-pager.

I just really don’t think what Ali has done so far is clever. 😆 It just seems overly complicated for no purpose whatsoever and the result isn’t awe inspiring enough to make any of the trouble worth it. Someone on insta posted a very cool page where you pull the edge and twelve windows rotate over (terrible description I’m giving). It is SO NEAT. Am *I* personally interested in the work that is required to pull it off? I’m not sure. It’s probably more time than I’m willing to spend, but I really think it’s a good end result for a steep time investment. But what Ali’s been doing? Notsomuch.

Totally agree the ribbon layout had some wonky-ness for sure. I was inspired by how she used the ribbon and the idea of the frame so I played around with supplies i already had + current DD. I cut the “making magic” paper so that I could have a 4x6 size to back with another card to be more versatile. I am planning to use my “stack” of pages for days 3 - 5. I think AE is taking her OLW “wild” to heart and just kind of playing and making without as much prep and planning as usual. https://www.instagram.com/p/DChzZKWv40M

I find what she did cutting up the 10x8 paper is just.. ugly 🤷♀️ Makes me think, "well I've done all this trying to make it work I may as well keep doing the most™ to make my efforts worth it. Been there done that lol

In Ali's defence, she didn't envision it that way either.😁

Am *I* personally interested in the work that is required to pull it off? I’m not sure. Her name is Denine and she just started an Etsy shop with the cut file. So if the machine does all the work, I think it's worth it for sure. She showed the 10X8 and also the 6X8 versions on Instagram. I think it looks really cool too. I don't know if I have the energy for it this year. Gorgeous!!! I love your interpretation. Did you all see the page on instagram where she used the die cut tree paper that has the grid on it like cross-stitch? I think it's so cool and I would love to sew cross-stitch on it but I can't think of a good design other than to make the trees pop out.

I will try later.

I found a digital blog hop collection from The DigiScrap Parade (r.i.p.) called Holiday Party - and it only had three embellishments or stamps with the word party.
I guess I'm stuck with Eat Drink & Be Merry for all these occasions!! It's the Live Laugh Love of Christmas. LOL

I still haven't decided on a size this year 😭😭
Brain dump stuff ahead lol
Part of me wants to do a teeny tiny super chunky 3x4, but that might be incredibly limiting? And I already have minis on binder rings that don't sit well on a shelf, so that's annoying. I have a grey linen 6x8 from Ali, but I haven't done anything in that size in forever and it feels daunting and TOO big for me lol. I'd also be stuck in page protectors since I'm mostly working with scraps and small papers.
I have the 4x6 DITL from a few years ago I need to cannibalize the insides of that might work.. the colors are spring-y and pretty bright but it matches the yellow/pink/green/blue/teal tones I'm using. Plus it has purple on the inside cover which would make my hair (also purple) stand out less, maybe (?)
I have a couple 4x8s and 3x8s lying around too but idk, they take more effort to make work.
I think I'm convincing myself into 4x6 lol
