VP debate CBS. Oct 1 st.. Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, has accepted an invitation from CBS News to a vice presidential debate Oct. 1 with Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), according to Fox News. Walz responded the invitation with a post to X, which read simply, "See you on Oct. 1, JD." This was followed up by a statement from the Harris campaign, which read, "Harris for President has accepted CBS' invitation to a vice presidential candidate debate on October 1. Governor Walz looks forward to debating JD Vance — if he shows up." www.rawstory.com/tim-walz-2668967603/

But Vance is not so sure... Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance skirted questions from Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on whether he will “be there” for an Oct. 1 debate with Walz. “I strongly suspect we're going to be there on October 1, but we’re not going to do one of these fake debates, Laura, where they don't actually have an audience there,” Vance said. “We’re not going to walk into a fake news media garbage debate.” During her show, Ingraham tried to pin down a slippery Vance on the topic. "Senator, are you in?” she asked. “Look, Laura, we're certainly going to debate Tim Walz,” Vance said before deflecting. “We just heard about this thing three hours ago, so we are going to talk to them to figure out when we can debate.” He continued: “I actually think we should do more than one debate so hopefully we're going to see him on October 1, but hopefully we're going to see him either before or after that, because I think it's important for the American people to actually see us discuss our views.” Ingraham pressed Vance again. "Senator, is there any doubt you will not be there on October 1 to debate Walz?” she asked. “Look, Laura, we want to actually look at the debates, look at the moderators, talk about the rules a little bit,” he said. www.rawstory.com/jd-vance-2668967805/

A student might go through the cafeteria line, but have the meal taken away in front of other students because the family lunch account has an outstanding balance. That's awful! Especially when the account is empty due to the schools clerical errors ( drawing lunch on my kids card on days my kid was verifiably absent ) it’s still angers me 15 years later. I have no issue paying for my kids lunches but then they stopped accepting cash and I no longer trust their accounting because I was not refunded all of the mistakes they made. The lunch account system can be a fucking mess if you ask me.

Great point about Republicans calling Walz a socialist and the universal free lunch program. We're still a capitalist countryBrian Tyler Cohen @briantylercohen Republicans have been pointing to Democrats and crying socialism for years. We had 8 years of Bill Clinton. Are we a socialist country? We had 8 years of Barack Obama? Are we a socialist country? We've had 4 years of Joe Biden. We're STILL not a socialist country. So at what point does the socialism actually kick in?'

I love Walz's response to JD Vance's ridiculous claim that women care about "normal things", not abortion. Can't wait for him to destroy Vance in the debate! normalTim Walz @tim_Walz It’s pretty normal to respect a woman’s right to make her own damn health care decisions.
Kamala HQ @kamalahq
Q: What do you say to suburban women who are worried about abortion rights?
Vance: I don’t buy that, I think suburban women care about normal things

This suburban woman has a teenaged daughter. Damn straight I care about abortion rights, especially as long as pregnancy continues to be unpredictable and some men continue to be predators.

Especially when they continue to see miscarriage care as an abortion and therefore banned. Precisely. I’ve read so many stories about women who have been denied care and it’s absolutely horrifying. As someone who has had a miscarriage, with a sister that has had multiple miscarriages and my own mom delivered a stillborn baby, I know first hand that pregnancy can go sideways in a hundred different directions. I can’t even imagine having to watch my only child go through any of that and having necessary care withheld.

Attended the Walz rally in Omaha last night. It was so fun to be in a safe space and be able to talk openly about politics in Nebraska. Inside venue filled up. We were in the outside spillover area. Watched on screen. Tim did come out to meet the crowd. I was in the 2nd line of people behind the rail so didn't get to meet him.

It is the one place Nebraskans will tell anyone from out of state to eat. They sell Runzas at Husker football games and we try to get the visitors to try them.

I’m so glad you got in! I have read good things about the rally. What was your experience? I have attended two rallies in my lifetime that were held locally - I got to see Hillary Clinton when she was campaigning for Obama. I find it amazing now that I stood in line for quite a while to see John Edwards when he was the running mate for John Kerry. What an asshole he turned out to be. One of the best things was that it ended up being the legends of Minnesota politics in attendance - very cool to see Walter Mondale. A friend and I are planning to try to make runzas this fall. Her daughter is going to Nebraska in a couple weeks and she said she was going to do some research with the locals on this.

Will you be staying in Omaha? No near Dennison, IA. Not sure of our timing for returning home but may have a few hours in Omaha. Wedding is of a distant family member (we have met a few times). Their family runs the family farm on my DH's paternal mother's side. I've never been and am looking forward to it. My dad's family farms in WI. I visited annually as a kid and we went back last a couple of years ago, so I am familiar with Midwestern farming communities in general and what to expect.

Even organizers handed out water bottles. We were about 40 people from getting into the auditorium so we ended up outside. They had a big screen. The crowd was energetic. Lots of cheering. Everyone was super pumped when Walz came out. He was shaking hands and taking selfies. Very, very positive!

And the same with food. Also RE: the Chromebooks. At least in my district, they all have to be district owned and imaged to be on the district internet. They have strict internet security and student-owned devices can only access the much less robust "guest" wifi. This is the situation in my district as well except that NO outside devices (including those of teachers) are allowed network access.

I was laughing when he said something about Vance not knowing what a Runza is. I moved to Colorado in '87 and every time we'd travel back home, I'd make my husband stop at a Runza. Imagine my shock at finding one in Loveland and now there is one in Longmont. I took a friend there for lunch when we were at a crop in Loveland. She said a few hours later that her stomach felt like lard. Hahahahaha. Amateur.

Vance/GOP just won't leave the Walz family alone . Doctor explains the IVF ETC.. youtu.be/NM5mDcRvUCw?si=BNO66ooPIm0YZyVMSpeaking to MSNBC on Wednesday, Dr. Kavita Patel explained that both are types of fertility treatments that fall under a broader umbrella. "IVF is more of a medical procedure," she said. "You take out a person's eggs and have that combined with sperm to create embryos, usually in a lab setting, and then put that embryo back into a uterus in order to hopefully facilitate a live birth and pregnancy. That's the outcome of also IUI." IUI is just a different procedure that uses less anesthesia, she said, and "it still must be done under a doctor's supervision, in an office-case office-based setting." When I talk to patients about these fertility treatments, they often say 'Oh, yeah, I saw my IFV doctor.' Or, 'I got IVF.' Because, you're right, it is technically different but under the same umbrella. We're talking about access to healthcare, and the irony is that any of these treatments are under threat from the plan that Vance and Donald Trump have put together along with Project 2025." A spokesperson for the Harris Walz campaign clarified Walz's comment, saying that IFV is a commonly understood shorthand for fertility treatments. www.rawstory.com/tim-walz-fertility-treatments/
