They have a bus there but not to get them home again? That’s just crazy to me. I assume there’s a reason but still, it seems inefficient, not to mention presuming a lot about parents being able to play taxi so far away. I hope you got to enjoy our quiet time and early coffee! And hope DD had a great run. I’m treating myself today. Heading out to see The Wild Robot after lunch It's the first time that they've done that "no bus back" thing this season, unlike 2022 where it was almost every meet (both directions.) I think this time they had a bus scheduled and then the driver canceled. DS (11) really wants to go see Wild Robot, I need to read the book first, it's in my house, I just have to go find it. Moms should take tissues. The lady behind me was crying - her kid called her on it. It’s visually stunning.

What is everyone else up to this weekend? I've had a weekend of getting things done, I worked on tidying the garden on Friday which was a public holiday here, and yesterday DH and I went and finalised tiles and a vanity for an upcoming bathroom renovation. Today it's meant to rain so I want to do some baking and get back into my scrap room.

DD's race yesterday went well, she had her best 5K time of the season. Trying to find her in a giant park, with multiple parking lots, and people everywhere was an experience. I need to put an airtag on her next time "There are acorns," is not a very good landmark. Today DH has to work (from home) which happens occasionally on the weekend, so we don't have any exciting plans to go anywhere. I might do some fall baking. I was watching Great British Bake Off yesterday (one of the older seasons) and now I want to make an apple cake. Linda , I'm glad you only lost some trees! joblackford thanks for the tip. I will bring tissues! Chinagirl828 getting things done is good. So is baking

Glad you are safe, Linda! We went to The Wild Robot yesterday evening, jokeysmurf. It was sweet. Enjoyed by all the kids in the audience as well as the adults with them. My hyperactive 11 year old dgs loved it, and his mom and I were chuckling at some of the lines thrown in for the adults. Sounds like baking is the task of the day. What did you bake, Chinagirl828? Apple cake sounds delicious, breetheflea. I have some apples I want to clear out of a fridge drawer. Might just do that with them. And I need to do something with the carrot culls, so thinking of making more muffins. Dh and dgs have vacuumed up the last batch. But our son-in-law loves carrot cake. Hmmm... maybe I can mix up a double recipe of the cake, bake half as actual cake, and mix in some oatmeal and raisins and extra cinnamon into the second half for muffins. The son-in-law divides this time of year into zuccini cake season, carrot cake season, and pumpkin pie season. He's not wrong, but this year the three seasons seem awefully jammed together LOL.

Obviously we need to know the best apple cake recipe... I used a basic cottage pudding recipe from my Purity cook book. Cut up double the amount of apples, coated them with melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon, then folded half into the "pudding" batter, and dumped the rest into the bottom of the casserole dish. breetheflea? joblackford?

Hello!
grammadee- Your apple cake sounds tasty!
Linda - I'm glad to hear you're doing okay.
The replacement die cut machine came in mid-week but I didn't crack open the box until today. I was able to cut out a couple more shapes. I'm hoping to have some shapes to take to my SIL for mid-October. She and I are going to a daylong card making event.
I hope to post some points before the end of September because this week shouldn't be too busy.

My recipe is from a website called A Family Feast and is literally called the Best Apple Cake Ever... It uses a bundt pan, otherwise besides extracting it from the pan, it's pretty simple to make.

All this talk of baking is making me hungry for apple cake. Mine will have to be GF, but I have a good recipe for more of an apple pancake! My DS25 did the floors this morning, bless his heart. In one it is how he pays part of his rent, and I am not going to complain! Another wonderful weather day here, so spoiled. Windy but in the high 70s. It has been 15 degrees above average for most of September. Again, NOT going to complain! Just seems weird to have to pack up the summer water toys and have the irrigation blown out. Need to journal Sketchtember #29, and photograph. I am proud of myself, my brother scan-n-cut has been sitting unused in my craft room BUT today I actually used it to make my die cuts. Need to start making page kits for my crop in November. My mom will fly to Fargo and I will drive (2.5 hours) and we have a week Nov 8-14 in a hotel with a crop room. Then we will come here for my birthday. I will be 65 on 11/15! Doing my medicare planning now, have a meeting this week as 2025 rates and plans are releasing 10/1/24. No reason to decide without all the information. breetheflea Sounds about right for a teens description of their location! LOL medennis4 Yeah, your replacement arrived. Have fun! Chinagirl828 grammadee joblackford reports on the baking endeavors? Linda Hope the yard chores and cleanup are going well and are not too stressful! Have a great work week everyone!

Good Monday morning. How is your week setting up? I am excited that dh feels he is ready and able to drive himself to his appointments tomorrow, so I will have the house to myself! I need to have a plan in place today, or I may just waste the whole time tomorrow overthinking what to do LOL. I have one more page to score, and then I will be able to calculate my September points. Won't be getting the Completion Bonus, but I have half of the sketches done for a cool 150 point bonus. I hope to work on the other half of the sketches over the next three months. angel97701 has posted small images of the sketches in the stickied SKETCHtember challenges thread, where we can see them all in one place. Thanks, Neva! Also want to remind everyone about CARDtober starting tomorrow (well actually this evening) over on the Stamping/Cardmaking board.

DD24 and DH arrived home last evening with Thumper and Chai. Re-introductions of their cats with our cats seems to be going smoothly today.
DD is encouraging me to scrap during her visit so I'll be trying to finish up the last few sketches today and then will tackles points

I have a few small items on my to-do list today which I will avoid while trying to tackle the last three sketches I am not much of a card maker, but I do need to make a thank you, get well soon, and birthday card in October so maybe I need to check out the cardmaking board.

Good luck with everyone and everycat back in the house Linda and with lasagne season grammadee! What a bounty. breetheflea you should definitely come and check out the card challenges. We're trying to keep the ideas quick/simple and accessible this year. I got about 10 Hummels out the door this morning. Monday is my day to ship what I've sold Sunday night and catch up with planning and record keeping. And all the household stuff I've neglected. Laundry is done, hanging on the line, but the yard is in deep shadow until about 1pm now. Hopefully it will dry before dinner. Almost the season for indoor drying and a little tumbling. My crafty shopping arrived this morning, some paper and die cuts and a new stamp set. My desk is a huge mess of cards that just need commitment, glue, and sentiments, but the sunshine outside is calling to me...

Linda You must have a lot of litter boxes? Or are they outside cats too? Enjoy visiting with your DD24! grammadee At my house it would be tomato sauce season, those look fantastic! @breetheflea I hope you had a good time scrapping after your short to-do list! joblackford IN the PNW if the sun is shining you really should be outside. Enjoy your crafty mail! I joined mom 's crop this afternoon and finished my final Sketchtember #30! Yeah me! First time ever! I went looking and I have the Sketchtember sketches printed going back to 2019 with 2023 missing. I will have to go check those out too. The layout I started is inspired by 9/8/2019. Not same size photos or photo placement but . . . In the great news department, I booked our 20th anniversary cruise for December. Someone will have to take over team leader duties Dec 4-16th later this quarter. I am so excited as we will travel to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean. Ten days of sailing and 7 ports. I actually even got a balcony on the rear of the ship so we will have an incredible view! Now to find formal evening dress. Start looking online. Welcoming any suggestions!

Hello everyone! Nothing really to report here. I have to go through and count my points for September. There aren't too many since I only made one, maybe two layouts. I do have a bunch of scrappy time to calculate since I spent a lot hours on the VB workshops, organizing pictures, etc. I plan to finish up the VB stuff at a retreat later this month. My company is closed Thursday & Friday and I want to spend some of that time working on a few sketch inspired layouts. All the cooking/baking talk is making me hungry. ha! Linda - I am glad you came through Helene ok. angel97701 - you have some great trips coming up and lots to celebrate. Enjoy every moment. ETA - check Amazon for formal dresses. You'd be surprised at the selection and their generous return policy makes it easy to try a variety of styles. scrappyrabbit - I am so sorry you were so sick but I am glad baby rabbit is adjusting well to day care. Shakti - I hope things get better at work. I can imagine how frustrating it is to be there this long and still not have a place. breetheflea - congrats to DD's record time. grammadee - I'm impressed with all your harvesting and I can only imagine how good lasagna with fresh tomatoes would taste. I am glad DH is feeling well enough to drive which gives you some alone time in the house. joblackford - way to go getting Hummels out the door!! I'm going to check out the Cardtober challenges. Oh, my favorite scrappy company that is no longer around is KI Memories.

Happy OCTOBER! And, of course CARDtober. Glad to see you dropping in, christinec68. DO remember to count your time spent on crafty pursuits, even if you have no finished product. Yes, Shakti, get those points added up before heading into CARDtober! Did you do the fall Crop & Create this year? Yay for the planned cruise, angel97701. Which cruise line did you end up choosing? We did the western Caribbean and the Panama Canal with HAL several years ago about the same time of year. Okay, off to make enough space on my scrap counter to accommodate two pages and my iPad. Planning to join mom's crop this morning. For the first time since before his surgery in August, dh has left home on his own for the morning. He has appointments in a nearby town. So I have the house to myself. Pulled out a ton of stuff yesterday, but not sure how many LO's I will actually be able to construct. Still have 15 SKETCHtember sketches to take on...

I was a little stalled on my current crochet project - indecision is my superpower, which is why I usually follow along with someone else's pattern! - but I think I've gotten past my sticking point now, so I can earn more mindless crochet craft points.
Hoping I can break out some twine for CARDtober this afternoon!

Spent some time with mom and Linda this afternoon. Finished another 2 pager and Cardtober #1. I will let you read the story on that thread.
joblackford Glad you got over the hump on your crochet project and go have some fun with twine!
grammadee I decided on Royal Caribbean and we are doing the Southern Caribbean 10 day cruise with 7 ports. I started talking with DH today about excursions, he is more ammendable than I thought he might be. Has interests in zip lining, snorkling, sailing, historical tours, and so on. He is totally a DRY person, has never had alcohol--so none of the food and beverage tours are on the list. If it is a minor port then maybe . He tried on his suit for me this morning, and now knows we will shopping for a cocktail dress when we go to the Twin Cities tomorrow for his mother's birthday.
Time to plan excursions.

Posted my points last night.
Didn't do Crop & Create this fall. Pondering the spring one, though I suspect I will pass.
I plan to have a busy weekend full of SLoC and CARDtober challenges!
It is really nice to have my four projects for CARDtober all set ahead of time, so that I can enjoy it. I actually registered on the site late in October 2022, so last year was my first CARDtober, and I hosted. I wasn't able to even think about doing many of the challenges! Looking very forward to this!

Here's to a fun day in the big city, angel97701! It was great seeing you on line yesterday, Linda. I didn't get the uninterrupted morning I had been counting on, but by the end of the day I had two double page LO's done, using 4 different sketches. Got your packing done yet for your trip? Happy you are feeling more relaxed about CARDtober this year Shakti, and hope you--and everyone who participates--has FUN! Hoping to join mom's on line crop again this morning. I have sketches photos chosen for a two pager. If I finish that one, I want to start on a sample for this upcoming Sketchy Saturday. Speaking of Sketchy Saturday, if you can host any Saturday this quarter, please sign up on AussieMeg's sign up thread.
