Good Thursday morning. I am packing up the last of the stuff I need for my upcoming crafty weekend. When I have the scrappy supplies stuffed into their tote, I will need to figure out and pack my clothes. Haven't thought of that at all, but did a bunch of laundry last weekend, so hoping that won't take too long. I am a divergent thinker. I love options. Give me a word and ask for definitions? I can give you a bundle. Give me a definition and ask for a word? I got nothin'. I get joy from crafting when I have lots of options to choose from right at that moment. I know this about me, so I have packed way too much stuff for the weekend just so that element of choice is built in right to the last thing I glue down. The crafting will bring me joy. The packing? Not so much LOL. Hope you are having fun!

joblackford. DH says that Sluy’s has the best pecan rolls ever! It also reminded him of his Grandpa’s bakery.

I’ve been making a big mess, driving myself crazy trying to put cards together from Halloween swap items. Usually I would spread out a bit more and use the space behind me on the dining table but my husband has been doing his photo sorting project there. I could barely make space for my trimmer on my desk once I started pulling out the die cuts and scraps.
I feel bad about not getting Halloween cards out to my friends yet - 3 have spooky season birthdays. I finally got one out today. Why is it so much easier to make a card than choose one for a specific person, write inside, and send it?

Congrats on selling all the hummels joblackford that is so exciting! Shakti I’m happy to hear the job is getting better for you. grammadee hope the crop went well. Sounds like fun! Today I made a few Halloween cards. Serena helped me by placing stickers on them. It is so cute watching her get focused on her task and she asks for more stickers. Tomorrow she’ll help me with a few more.

One of the challenging things about this job has been trying to get to know my coworkers when I spent so long not on any project teams and no one on my team/in my department introduced me around or even gave me a list of folks I should get to know. My bosses (team lead and manager) are in Illinois. my actual manager has something like 16 direct reports and I find my team lead difficult to work with. The wonderful thing that happened last week is that while I discovered my local colleagues find me easier to work with than my team lead! They are apparently a little apprehensive that he's going to drive me off and they want to make sure I stick around! Hurrah.
But I have to travel to Illinois not this coming week, but the week after, for team-building with those 16 direct reports of my manager. Leaving dark and early Monday morning and flying home Friday. I should be stressed about having to vote early, what to pack, how to get to the airport, making the flights, finding the office from the airport, etc.
Instead, I am stressed because I thought that the "shoot the moon" bonus deadline for CARDtober was Friday, so I could finish up after I got home. It is Thursday, so I pretty much have to finish before I leave! I only joined late October 2022, so I missed it that year. Last year was my first CARDtober and first time hosting CARDtober, so I only managed a handful of the other challenges. I am more or less keeping up this year and was really looking forward to meeting them all. CARDtober is supposed to be fun, I know. And crafting should be an stress-reliever, not a stress-inducer. I'm being ridiculous, right?!
I look forward to seeing the results of Baby Bunny's craftiness!
Go gramma(dee), go gramma, go gramma, go!

Sorry you are finding CARDtober stressful, Shakti. But I know how it can feel like you are "behind", when really we are AHEAD--having completed more cards than we normally would have! Hopefully you will be able to knock out your unfinished CARDtober challenges this upcoming week and weekend, before you leave for Illinois. The crop was fun, but I didn't get as many pages done as I usually do. It seemed like everything was moving more slowly than usual. But I did finish 19 pages, and twenty-one cards. Hoping to photograph and post them as they are unpacked. I am home now, my scrap stuff still in the vehicle. It will come into the house tomorrow. justjac's hubby lugged it out and stowed it into the vehicle at the venue, so that was a big help.

You must really make a lot of pages and cards at a crop grammadee if that’s a slow one! I had a bit more space to play today but still only got a few cards put together. And I started my granny square blanket, just a few centers, and I’m already second-guessing my choice! 😆 I drive myself crazy with this indecision.

A full day with DSD and DH. Museum of flight and DH was in HEAVEN!!!! Aerospace engineer—he could spend forever!!! DSD did finally check out. Really glad DH talked to one volunteer (also an Aerospace Engineer) in the space shuttle trainer, told him about his company’s mention in the Perlan exhibit. He doesn’t like to toot his own horn. He was fascinated with everything! Early flight back to MN in the morning. More later.

Sorry you are finding CARDtober stressful, Shakti. Thanks, grammadee, but it's really the trip that's stressing me out or how the trip and CARDtober are landing in relation to one another. The trip was sort of thrown together at the last minute with all kinds of urgency that seems misplaced to me. I am actually trying really hard not the whine too much about the job. I know I'm lucky to have one.

Shakti Good attitude to have about your job. If it works out to get the challenges done great, if not know that CARDtober is supposed to be fun! Don’t add stress where it is not necessary. grammadee you are a super crafter, I could only hope to get that much accomplished! scrappyrabbit how sweet baby bunny is helping! Waving hi at everyone else. Up early for flight. On the way to the airport. Won’t be home in MN for another 11 hours.

angel97701 I posted the cards in the cardtober thread but Serena’s stickers were placed on the inside of the cards. The cards were super simple and we’ll mail them to our cousins kids! You are already heading back home? Shakti I hope your work trip goes well. I just had a work trip to Albuquerque last week. I don’t mind work trips - I get to have a guilt free margarita with my coworkers lol but my trip was only one night.

Good morning. I am not nearly as productive as grammadee at crops. I got five layouts and 13 cards done. Six of the cards were from the Holly Jolly class SCT did in July. They are a lot more complicated than my usual cards. We had a fun weekend, but by the end I was tired!

Shakti, can you take card kits along on your work trip for the CARDtober challenges you want to finish? I have constructed many a card on desks in hotel rooms. They are a lot more complicated than my usual cards There were only a few "complicated" projects I attempted. The rest of mine I thought would be "quick and dirty", but somehow I felt the need to overthink a bunch of them. Safe travels, angel97701. Off to photograph my crop pages...

Should I make the last color challenge for 10/31 really easy? I could whisper it to you in advance Shakti I just need to figure out what it's going to be! I had originally planned to do Halloween colors for Halloween, but then realized that a lot of people might prefer to make Halloween cards early enough to give them (or not make Halloween colored cards at all!) I'm totally winging these challenges ...but I think I have an idea to make the last day really quick and easy for everyone.

joblackford, I think the triad challenge, as you pointed out at the time, was good for Halloween if folks wanted to go down that road. If you wanted to be easy, you could do the Christmas complementaries of red and green (from burgundy and pine down to pink and seafoam or whatever the pastel green that's all over lately is). Sad I won't get to see Baby Bunny's sticker work. angel97701, seconding the safe travels.

joblackford oh you are so sweet! grammadee it will take some time to photograph your output. justjac good thing this is not a competition! LOL scrappyrabbit oh how sweet for Serena. How many ended up somewhere not on the card? Shakti hope that you feel productive in both CARDtober and going on your work trip. I have a week’s worth of challenges to complete plus 2 more coming up. Not sure it will happen but I will try! I’m also getting ready to go to my week long crop with my Mom in Fargo. She’s flying from Oregon and I’ll drive the 170 miles. She will come visit for a few days. It’s my 65th birthday. Then I’ll take her to St Paul to visit my niece, her granddaughter. We are on a shuttle from MSP to Brainerd. Ds will pick us up. It will be nice to sleep in our own bed.

I am amazed how much you got done! scrappyrabbit that is so precious And so sweet that the cards are for cousin kids. justjac your speed sounds much more attainable, although I'll admit to being envious of how prolific grammadee is lol. Shakti I hope your trip goes smoothly and you get some card making in.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I am off to the city for a couple of days. Driving dh to a pair of medical appointments
I dropped my last CARDtober challenge into the Texture Tuesday thread. Have brought in and unpacked my crop stuff but did not do yesterday’s challenge. Otherwise all caught up. I plan to finish the last three challenges on Friday.
Have started uploading my crop cards and pages, and will need to calculate their points. But that needs to wait til I am home again as well.

Hello! I'm home! All the leaves (well almost all) have fallen and our view of the lake is not as obstructed. We can see the road through our woods. It is amazing how much it can change in a week.
I unpacked EVERYTHING last night, worked at it until I was done. Today was laundry and once that was started and mail sorted I spent some time in my craft room. Cranked out 2-3 challenges, so not feeling as far behind.
Today is DH's birthday, Norwegian Pancakes on the menu--his favorite.
My Medicare insurance cards came today! Yippe--I was a little worried about when they would arrive.

I only had a little bit of time to cut up some paper between craft group and going to see the movie Lee, about the war photographer Lee Miller. Sometimes I get more done when I have less time! It sounds like you jumped right back into things angel97701Thanks for the easy Texture Tuesday challenge @grammdee. I’m hoping to catch up (a bit) tomorrow.

Ah, a simple pancake that is 1 egg to 1 cup milk to almost 1 cup flour. Fried up very flate (think crepe) in bacon grease. Consumed sprad with butter/sugar, or cheese, OR like a Swedish pancake with powdered sugar/lemon juice rolled up and then cut into bite size chunks. Accompanied by bacon or sausage. Basically breakfast for dinner.
This morning Artemis had a vet appointment to check on her blood counts. Turns out she had an ulcer caused by her pain meds. So she was off that and Prilosec to help her tummy heal. She's on a new med for arthritis pain. Really glad we figured out what her problem was. She is feeling much better.
Then groceries, home for a quick lunch and then aaaahhhh time for a hair cut and style. Feeling glamorous! But now the steam to keep moving just waned.
Should I try and craft or take a quick nap?

I just posted the challenge for tomorrow Shakti Halloween plans... We usually get 20-40 trick or treaters so I bought a box of lunch size chips to hand out. The kids get really excited to get Cheetos instead of chocolate! And we're happy to eat the leftovers. I have the bare minimum decoration up - one inflatable friendly ghostie 👻 Our neighbors have lots of decorations and a bright orange candy chute (so their dog doesn't freak out as much) so even if we don't decorate we usually get people knocking, even in 2020. This year there have been signs up on the next street over, trying to encourage a more walkable, old-fashioned neighborhood trick or treat. It will be interesting to see if they get traction with that. Their posters had a tiny font that made them almost unreadable, but it looks like their street has more decoration than in years past. Maybe that will spill over. Our street gets a fair number of families who drive around looking for pockets of decoration. We envy the Honolulu family members - it's too hot to dress up much, but everyone hangs out with food and beer in their carports as the kids do the rounds. Admittedly they need a couple hundred dollars worth of candy to give out... I don't envy that! As usual the costumes here will require raincoats.

Here at the lake there are no children that are not high school age. Then there are only 3 left on our entire street, everyone else is back in the cities. In Oregon we were "in the country" so didn't get trick-or-treaters there either. When the boys were younger we went to other neighborhoods know for decorations and to the grandparents and friends on our side of town.
I will be taking Artemis pup back to the vet in the morning. Bloodwork was still wonky with two options. Ulcer is gone, but we will see.
Had some time after dinner to work on a few cards. Hope to have all the challenges done by tomorrow? Have to finish a total of 4 more. the SLoC #27 is cut, stamped, and sorted. Just have to assemble. Then photo time. Also need to keep working on my crop planning.
