Survivor 47 starts this Wednesday! I have seen a few promos but don't know anything about the cast yet.

The only one I’m familiar with is Jon Lovett, a speech writer for Obama and Hillary Clinton and a host of Pod Save America. I’m interested to see how he does, as he’s pretty forthcoming with his views on the podcast.

Thanks for starting the thread! Hope I can make it through the season! The last few, we’ve lost interest after the middle of the season and not watched the remainder. Sometimes there’s so many twists and weird rules I can’t keep up! LOL Yes! This is what's happened with me and Survivor for several seasons now. It's just too complicated with random idols, and losing votes, or gaining votes, or whatever else the producers think up. And I also hate when they have only one challenge. I know in the past they did that in the beginning episodes so they could spend more time introducing all the players. But then they just kept having only one. Not sure if they've switched back to two after awhile but I think I lost interest before then. But, I'll still watch this new season of course.  I always like the beginning episodes best anyway because I find it fascinating to see how the teams set up camp, how they start working together (or not, lol), who goes off the rails quickly (you wonder if some of them have even watched the show before), etc. |

I'm in! Thanks for the reminder. I have to "turn back on" Paramont + for the duration of the Survivor season. Of course I'm cheap so I buy the version that I can't watch it live an have to wait until the next day.

Aysha Welch is a podcaster on the Rob has a Podcast network, and I've listened to her analysis of other seasons. It will be fun to see someone in the Survivor analysis community getting a chance to play, and it will also be interesting to see if she is recognized. There seem to be other listeners on the cast, too. Jon Lovett will certainly be known to some cast members since he is the more well-known podcaster, but Aysha's niche in the podcast world is more directly relevant to Survivor.

Interesting 2-hour episode!
First, the way the yellow team came from behind to finish the first puzzle was amazing.
Second, I must mention the capsized boats. I have seen two boats capsize in a challenge.
Third, after Andy's melt down I think I would vote him out. He's going to be a loose cannon going forward. But they voted out John instead.
I don't know enough names to say who I like yet. Next week.

What drives me crazy - they voted out Jon and kept Andy. Not every challenge is physical!!! Don’t always pick muscle over strategy.

I hope Andy pulls it together. He got so much focus this episode that it makes me think he sticks around a while. I'm sure the producers were also looking for a good story line from Jon Lovett, given that he has a huge following, so I'm surprised there wasn't more focus on him. That makes me think they're building a transformation story for Andy. Of course, they may also be building a Jelenski-like storyline like last season.
I was a little disappointed that the "Journey" was a physical competition. Aysia was very close at the end, but I could see this being very lopsided in other circumstances, and that just isn't as fun to me.

Sure didn't expect Jon to be the first one out. I think that tribe will regret keeping Andy. Even next week's previews look like he's off the rails again.

For those of you who have Paramount+ (with no ads... although I'm not sure if there are two tiers..?) -- Can we not watch the newest season that way? Or am I just too early to find it? It hasn't been 24 hours yet, so maybe that's my problem. The latest season I see there is the previous one. I started watching this new one on cbs.com but I had to stop because of all the ads. Yes I'm spoiled. But if it's a two-hour episode then I can't do it. haha |

Andy should have gone home. When he first fell, I thought he was faking. I still think he was faking. I might go back and rewatch, but my impression was that he was trying to get Jeff onboard with giving him a medical observation break so he could "recover" and somehow either miss the tribal or milk the sympathy thing to avoid the vote out. Or he'd hoped to get pulled for medical reasons rather than facing a vote out. Jeff handled it perfectly. Interesting that after last season's very sensitive handling of Ben's panic attacks, Andy has not been given as sympathetic an edit IMHO. Don't get me wrong - I admire the way Ben's situation was handled but my take away was Andy being more manipulative. I'm so disappointed Jon was out, but he really hadn't connected with most of the tribe and made the fatal mistake of putting Anika's name out there. I know Andy said it first, but I bet Jon was seen as the one behind it. Have to say I loved the Beware Advantage layers and LOL at the dude dropped the box down the rock face.  |

I didn't knon John before... haven't heard of any of these players.... but i don't like Andy n for keeping him instead now i hate the yellow team and i hope they lose again n again... I dont have any favorites yet.... It was nice to see the <old> lady on the tribe get so much attention... i hope she sticks around for a bit... I do not like the single/triple/final 5 immunity beware thing!!!! Why??? Why do they have to do that...its annoying.... but i also loved watching that guy drop it down the rocks... lmao |

I grew up where there were no street lights or ambient human light. Believe me--dark is DARK! How the heck do these people find ANYTHING at night out there?

We have no street lights here and if you step outside on our front porch when there is no moon, you can't see if a person is standing near you so I get what you're saying! |

I would never keep a loose cannon. Andy is not that strong anyway. I have no empathy for an adult that is sad because nobody said anything about him cracking open his coconut.
