I have never used the graph paper. It's covered up when you put you paper in. I put the stamp where I want it and when the stamp is stuck on the lid I line it up on the grid marks there. Not sure of the purpose of the paper grid paper other than there is paper to catch extra images from stamp partial on off your cardstock.

I've used it to get a sentiment lined up straight (it's easier than trying to use the grid on the lid since it sticks to that one). Then I put the lid down, stamp sticks to lid, test stamp to make sure it's straight, add cardstock, stamp.

I don't use the grid paper. No need for it the kid has a grid to line the stamp on. I just used it to stamp off the pad.

I actually use the grid paper all the time! Printed off a bunch of the one I posted way earlier in this thread and trim them down to size. I also recently laminated a piece that I can clean with a baby wipe and use over and over. Using the grid paper just seems to make it easier for me to get the placement perfect, although I'm not sure how that's going to work for me when I get the Tim Holtz stamp positioner

If the people in charge of this forum require me to remove the link to my photo I will.
If the people in charge of scrapbooks.com require me to remove my photo I will.
There are also you tube videos to show how to make your own alcohol inks. I haven't heard of Tim yelping about that. And I don't see you griping about others in this stream suggesting to make their own graph papers. You are my hero And yes, I have just now read the first page of this thread.

Yes, the MSP version does look very cheap and flimsy compared to yours. I can see why she was so worried about your homemade version. Can't wait to see the TH one we are going to get in the US....might have to break my freeze fot it .

What happened at SCS with Jennifer McGuire? A bit more info than what Gale posted - people were all excited when Jennifer McGuire listed the MISTI as one of her favorites for 2014. She never said word one about receiving the tool for free until RiverIsis flat out asked (and there was no snark in the asking - she just asked if Jennifer had paid for her tool or was it given to her). The tap dancing around the question was actually quite entertaining, until Ileana came on and said "she wanted to pay for it; I wouldn't let her". I got my hand slapped and my post deleted for a comment that said (from what I remember, it's been deleted) that Jennifer McGuire is a big-time blogger and should certainly know better than not to disclose free merchandise, which is apparently making a member the subject of a negative post. Then it comes out that not only did Ileana give one of the tools to Jennifer, she sent one of the very early ones to Jennifer to get her opinion on it, and Jennifer gave her some input and put her in contact with someone who (I think) could help manufacture it? Didn't really follow any of the Instagram drama, I don't follow that - and I didn't realize that RiverIsis had been banned until I read it somewhere else. And then, most amazing thing, Simon Says Stamp - who is a company that Jennifer frequently markets for - is the first company to sell it. I know people were all excited about this great tool that was invented by a stamper and how awesome it is to support a small business, but the whole thing now smells kind of bad to me. I almost feel like the whole thing was choreographed to suck me in. But this weekend, I made one of my own, from a dollar store picture frame, a piece of plexiglass that my husband had in the shop, some plastic hinges that I found on Ebay for a very reasonable price and some other odds and ends from the crafty cave. And it works stinking great. And didn't cost me $50, and if the cover starts cracking I can replace it on my own. And I agree about SCS - I still read and post over there a little bit, but I was so tired of all the MISTI stuff on the front page that I finally turned off the member companies posts. I completely forgot about this JM drama with the misti. Yes, old thread but all the talk about the glue gun had me thinking about this one!

Ok, I'm on pg3, and kind of skimming this, but does anyone recall details of ((what sounds like) the "rewards" stinky petunia was offering for those who turned people in who were making similar stamping platforms at home? That sounds incredibly tacky and so unprofessional to me. Avoiding things that need to be done while continuing to read more....

I was tired and bored, so I reread this entire thread, all 17 pages. I wasn’t on some of the other groups, so I don’t know what “reward” (if any) may have been offered to those who reported people that made their own stamp platform. If true, that was an incredibly paranoid and petty overreaction in my opinion.
I read this controversy years ago, as it was going down. If my memory is correct, her original complaints to Don were far more angry/unpleasant than what is there now. However, when Don replied to her, he didn’t quote her original comments, nor did anyone else, so there is no way to prove it. Either my memory is faulty, or she changed her original comments so they didn’t sound as bad. All I remember is that I thought she was so unpleasant and ridiculous, that even though I really, really wanted a stamp platform, I made up my mind that I would never buy a MISTI. I went to multiple stamping/scrapbook conventions, saw all the MISTI tools, and was tempted, but I could not stomach the though of buying hers. I longed for a really nice stamp platform and did eventually buy the Tim Holtz one (in both sizes), and the Stampin’ Up one. They work well for me, and I am only sorry that they are no longer available to other customers due to her lawsuits.
This is in another thread, but reportedly, her husband is a patent attorney. That is probably why she got the patent. He knew what language to have her use to increase her chances of getting her MISTI patent approved. And he has presumably always been more than willing to go to court for her, and the legal challenges to other stamp platforms have seemingly eliminated all their serious competition. However, now that the Chinese knock offs are available, I suspect that her sales have probably diminished significantly. She has recently “invented” a glue applicator, which is reportedly an adaptation of something already on the market. That’s in another thread. Many of us still have no interest in anything associated with her.
For those who have small companies, I think this thread is a good lesson in how overreacting can alienate potential customers for a very long time.

I remember her demands to Don and others being much stronger too. I think she posted in several threads and we probably can’t find all of them. I do not generally support knock offs, but in this case I actually do. Based on her actions alone.

You can see in the lower right comment of a post if it was edited and when. I did notice an edit on one of her posts to Don. It happened same day, if I recall. I didn’t check the other posts.
Editing this post for research purposes. :-)
It appears you only see the edit notification on desktop.

Nope. I’m on my iPad and I can see it.
Has anybody noticed that she’s already marketing her own version of the Waffle Flower sticky mats that fit the MISTI? A couple months maybe after WF launched theirs and probably procured quickly off-the-shelf from China, as SSS’s description says the grid size may vary.

Brutus Monroe actually had a sticky mat out last year. The nerve of her to copy others (patented or not), when she goes around suing everyone else for products that are not just like hers.
