Unless that asshole can raise your parents from the dead he should never see the light of day. I'm so sorry you have to deal with him being paroled.

I'm so sorry for your loss. His parole must bring it all rushing back. I don't blame you for being angry.
I completely agree with you as to sentencing. If he had killed them with a gun, he'd still be in jail. Either way, he made the decision.
Again, I am so sorry.

I'm so sorry - that is really unfair to you and your family. You are 100% correct. Were you able to talk at his hearing? And, if not, did they notify you of the hearing or just let you know he was paroled?

Partially because of my work with inmates myself, i am a big believer in people serving their sentence and moving on with a productive life as part of society. i beleive people can own responcibility and change and grow. i beleive that moments of bad choices don't define who we are as whole people. However... wow. Less than 8 years for killing two people? Wow. That's sh*tty. i'm really sorry: mostly for your loss, but also the lack of any useful justice. i'm sorry.

Disgusts me how little time he did.

I am so sorry. I remember when this happened and my heart still breaks for you. My sister died due to a drunk driver when I was only 5 years old and I also feel rage at those who continue to drink and drive. I remember every detail of what happened as if it were yesterday. {{{Hugs}}}

You know, I agree with you for property crimes, drug crimes, etc. But I think when your bad choice kills another human being, then it does say a lot about you as a person. I'm not convinced that kind of person can change. Willful disregard for human life doesn't just happen one day. It's not an "accident." Nothing will ever convince me that this guy should spend one moment walking around free while my parents are in the ground. Nothing. I don't believe there is anything he could do that would ever make him anything other than a useless, worthless piece of crap who should have died in their place. He needs to rot in prison, with no chance ever to hurt anyone again.

I remember when this happened to your family. I am so very sorry. First, for the loss of your parents and second for the injustice of this killer.

The drunk driver who killed my cousin and two other kids (17, 17, and 15) served eight years. He had had previous DUIs and drug possession convictions and had been involved in another DUI fatality as a teenager. You're right--drunk drivers, whether cars or boats, don't serve nearly the amount of prison time that they deserve.
My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry. I remember when this horrible event happened to your family. He should at least serve out the expected life span of each of your parents. It is just not fair that someone can take 2 lives and spend less time in jail than someone who commits a property crime.

I'm so sorry. I also remember when this happened & often "remember" them when you post. There is no way that he has served long enough. I just pray he doesn't ever hurt anyone else. My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry. It doesn't seem nearly enough for taking two lives.
Someone I used to be very close to killed someone while driving drunk. This happened before I knew him. It happened back in the mid 80's before the punishment for such crimes was the least bit harsh. He served one year in jail (not prison) and it makes me really sad to say that he didn't learn his lesson. He went on to drive drunk after he was released. He used a connection his grandmother had with a state senator to get his license back. It really isn't fair at all.
(((hugs)))

wow I am sooo sorry for your loss and now renewed painful experience of his parole. Was there a reason he only got 8 years? That is vehicular manslaughter x2. I thought that held minimum 20 years or so per victim. I do not understand our system either. My prayers are with you and pray for comfort during this time and a way to find some kind of peace through all of this as it only hurts you (not the idiot) to hold on to the anger forever.

I'm so sorry. There is absolutely no excuse for driving under the influence. We all know what could happen. So I hate it when people call them drunk driving "accidents." You don't accidentally drive drunk... You do it on purpose. And if your choices result in someone else's death, that's no different than pulling a trigger.
