papertreerings Depending on your actual needs and stash of basics, you may also be interested in just buying the DK cards and the occassional embellishment. Often, a few months down the line after initial release, the kits are broken down into individual items and sold in the shop. You can pick up a full set of DK cards for 7.99. If you already have enough alpha stickers, die-cuts and chipboard to work with, you can get away with supplementing for your PL album on the cheap.

I’m racking my brain on what DK stands for though. I have a few not many embellishments as I sold quite a lot of years ago when I thought I wouldn’t get into scrapbooking again 😂

I am not subbed at the moment but I was a few months back. The only thing that bothered me consistently was that every month, on the first, the new kit would be revealed but I still hadn’t received the previous months kit. That was annoying. But I only don’t subscribe right now because I find the kits inconsistent. I just sign up now when I want that months kit and then cancel my sub when it’s shipped. Ahhh that makes sense, that’s probably what I’ll end up doing 🙃, just to supplement my AE stories kit as I’m wanting to have a go at PL next year, for my sins! papertreerings I'm in the UK too - did you know that Hey Little Magpie stocks the Elle's Studio monthly kit? I don't think you can sub, though that might be an asset - you can choose whether or not to buy. I don't know how long behind the curve they arrive though.

You right that you cannot subscribe through HLM. In terms of availability, they're usually pretty good and available for sale a few days after it launches on Elle's Studio. There has been a delay this month though for some reason. No idea why the August kit isn't in stock yet. I assume it's because they're waiting for the Christmas line and they'll launch it all together.

One would think they would mention that on the kit page. Not everyone can or wants to listen to April ramble on. SC irritates me to no end…and yet I can’t quite my sub.

April in the will-be-gone-no-evidence-left-in-24h IG stories: "I think it's the first time ever we've had any delays like that with our stamp sets." Me, who just went through the ordeal of waiting 1 extra month on the pre-ordered IACB Things Are Looking Up stamp set earlier this summer:

Also, what the fuck, April? You are NOT including a stamp sleeve with the new stamp sets but also NOT reducing the stamp set's price to reflect that? Their policy used to be that they knocked the price down whenever that happened but now they just expect people to pay 19 dollars anyway. Yah, ok.

Her solution not a couple bucks off a pack of stamp sleeves is not acceptable. Decent resolutions: 1. Break up the packs of sleeves they obviously have in stock to fill in their supply for the kits 2. Discount the stamps without sleeves by $1 Paying full price for the stamps and then paying more to get the sleeve is not a solve here, SC!

Paying full price for the stamps and then paying more to get the sleeve is not a solve here, SC! Plus shipping! Lest we forget, the stamp sets ship free. So, here, if you're not a subscriber, you're also paying shipping all of a sudden. They are taking us for fools.

I didn’t even see her update about the sleeves. I did add some to my box for the month but I’m organizing all my stamps and need a bunch.

I haven't opened this thread since the beginning of August. sleepingbooty thank you for the Lenny video. He will never be anything less than awesome. I can't believe he's a year older than me and I look like his mom instead of his sister. WTF menopause...

Do you not think its weird that SC and Ali are still shipping to Internationals? Did they figure out the whole tax thing or they are just putting their head in the sand? And if so, what's the implications for the end consumer - do you suddenly get hit with an additional bill? They have decided they don't care. So yes, we're stuck with paying taxes + handling fee. There's no way out: the EU cannot enforce this where they're not sovereign. Inked just figured they didn't have a volume of orders large enough to make any waves. The EU could cut off payment means originating from EU countries for businesses deciding not to register and collect VAT but you'd need to be a big player with a lot of transactions to risk that penalty. Inked will never reach that threshold.

And if so, what's the implications for the end consumer - do you suddenly get hit with an additional bill? Just read this in the FAQ category: Orders shipping to a location in the European Union will now see "sales tax" added at checkout, beginning 9/1/21. This is collecting the VAT (Value Added Tax) on your order at the time of sale to eliminate the need to pay this upon importation of goods. VAT stands for Value Added Tax and is a general, percentage-based tax placed on goods and services sold in the European Union. Effective 7/1/21, the VAT exemption for the importation of goods of a value not exceeding EUR 22 was removed, resulting in all goods imported to the EU now subject to VAT.

I wonder which EU country they registered in. And the lame excuse about the 22€ (approx. $24) threshold... Come on, a kit is more than 22€. Could it be that the EU is going to be more severe with cutting off payment options after all so Inked scrambled over summer to register? The VAT collection for non-EU countries went into effect on July 1st. One thing is clear: Inked are making the gamble to keep and likely attract EU customers for the foreseeable future. They may just have realised there's business to be done at full price and scrapbookers are lamenting the loss of their beloved US subscriptions. It's a smart move. I wonder whether they'll adapt their designs to suit non-US customers a bit more as well (ha, who am I kidding?).

Interesting that there is no mention of non-EU countries that require the collection of VAT. I've just added something to my cart and went to check out and there is no VAT being added.
I changed the shipping address to France and it added the sales tax, though.

I did the math with my current AE cart and it fit ( boo because in Germany we only have 19%, but otherwise some post offices charge 6€ delivery fee with customs)

I do t really understand all that’s going on with the overseas shipping & VAT stuff, but I have wondered if this monkey wrench is why SC and AE have their stuff selling through scrapbook. com. The timing seemed to coincide.

I like the inside pages of the TN notebook but I’m not a fan of the holly cover.
I might pick up an previous holiday TN notebook. Been thinking about trying this format for a bit. And document a couple December’s I missed during my scrapbook hiatus. If I could add them to my box (you are missing some sales here SC!) I would but I’m not paying for shipping right after missing the free shipping weekend.
We have a Vegas trip scheduled for October (fingers crossed) that I could scrap in a TN notebook I’ve been holding onto since last year. I know I want to make a mini album from that trip.

Thanks everyone for your help, through a random email, I got told that Cocoa Daisy are sorting out the VAT issue so will be shipping again and if it doesn5 increase the price, I’ll be going back with them Thanks elegantsufficiency, I did note that, they have quite a bit of the Christmas collection I want 🙈🙈. I worked it out for me to get what I’d get in an “American” kit I’d be paying more for the item separately, though if I’m looking for something separately I do go to HLM, x x

I do t really understand all that’s going on with the overseas shipping & VAT stuff, but I have wondered if this monkey wrench is why SC and AE have their stuff selling through scrapbook. com. The timing seemed to coincide. Inked went wholesale in 2019, I think. There was a whole email debacle where they sent out wholesale to their customer base. They've had stuff on SB.com for quite a while now. It's just that people have discussed these items more recently (likely because of more recently added products popping up in the "Coming soon" section). But I'd figured out it was cheaper to buy a 6x8 album from SB. com rather than SC because the shipping was less expensive in early 2020 already. This is just a coincidence as far as I can tell. Or they've mapped this out since 2019 and I find such planning from Inked hard to believe.

They get to register in one single country but the actual collection happens through the EU One Stop Shop which redistributes the appropriate VAT to each Member State. Oy vey. It's 27% in Greece but only 17% in Luxembourg. What a mess.

Every order I had from AE from May onwards got stuck in customs and some still have not been delivered as they are struggling to cope with all the international orders recived in Portugal after 1st July. Paying tax straight off means it enters our postal system directly. My orders are sometimes still taking a month just to leave the US which is another problem and one I just can't understand.

I love my TN subscription buut I just received an email. Apparently SC was able to take payment from my account with zero problems. However, according to the email, there are supply issues and they'll ship my order mid September. What're the odds I'll receive it before my October kits ship!?! As it is it takes roughly 2 weeks to get my shipment and I'm in PA not overseas. sigh I think it might be time to cancel.
