Yeah, me too. One of my all time favorite threads was the showdown versus Mormon Christmas Kitsch and Catholic Kitsch. Was that the Angel Moroni thread? yes and a bunch of other things. We got soap on a rope, a sugar cube temple, dancing Jesus dashboard thing...it was great

Carey, you so deserved your win! I loved your entry. I still have all the HOF books too. You were an amazing scrapper!!! I do think later years were pre chosen but in the earlier days, I do believe it was to just find some amazing, talented people. I have to agree with this. I think in the early years it was legit but towards the end, it was all rigged and just about advancing the magazine's pet people. I think it's awesome that you won @thegreatcarpezio and I am happy when I hear about these wins. I think I just got jaded towards the end and that colours how I see the whole thing. ITA. I also don't think believing it was rigged or somewhat rigged diminishes how hard you or any of us regular-joe scrappers worked on our submissions.

I know how hard I worked on it, I have no doubt people worked just as hard or harder. I think mostly I feel like I wasted my time since I applied in the later years when it was really rigged. If I had done it earlier, I may not feel like that. But I am proud of anyone who puts themselves out there for something like that.

Now, my question. Did the term "Thrusday" come from the torn bear debacle? Or was that a blog thing? Janet Thrusday came from a board member who went on and on about being in very tough financial times and asked for donations. She miraculously "found" a SB tote full of supplies in her house or car or something. Whenever she typed Thursday, she reversed the R and U.

The contest controversy occurred in 2007. I guess I feel I was a "later" winner since I believe it started in 1998 and ended in 2007. In 2005 an insider told me that she felt it wasn't rigged even if CK didn't always do other things all that well. We don't have to believe her word on it, but at least I heard that from her rather than gossip and hearsay. I do feel 2007 revealed some major flaws. Not defending that and never felt the contest was blind. I just don't think it was an orchestrated conspiracy or anything. I'm sure they were looking for Cathy Z and Ali E the years they won (2003 or so?) too.

I can't quote on my phone, but was the other board the Grumpeas, genny? That could have been it! I just can't remember anymore…you'd think I'd have held on to these seriously important bits of information!

Which Pea was a GG and was married to an Hispanic singer/actor? I've got Ricky Martin stuck in my head and I'm 1876.1837% sure it wasn't him!
I loved her pages and pictures of her kids.

I wonder how Sharl's daughter is doing She is doing well per se; she is still in a nursing home but cannot talk or walk, but she is on Facebook and people come and take her out. I live in Virginia and she in NC so we don't get to see her often, but her brother lives 50 miles from her and goes to see her whenever he can.

From what I recall, Nurse Kitty had come home from a rough shift at work - I think a patient had died??? Then I think she was drinking. All of that combined to make her pretty explosive. Didn't Eight get in trouble for selling stolen goods? What about that woman who had 4 little boys and she couldn't handle them. Someone found a newspaper article that some of those little boys were found wandering in the middle of the night while she and her husband were passed out stoned? Or something like that? I don't remember her user name, but it was a combination of her name and her husband's. Some combination of Dave and Lindsey I think? What about Jeffrey's brother or cousin or whoever he was...was supposed to be an administrator or something. And then he got very suggestive and inappropriate on some late night threads. It happened over and over and then he was gone. Burning Feather, your brain is a steel trap! DaveandLindsey is it!
BTW, how is AN doing?

She's great. Thanks for asking. She took a new position at work and has been traveling nonstop and is super busy but we've enjoyed a few mom and daughter days recently.

1. Okay, I just spent too much of my life googling Kristina Contes. And I'm just gonna say it: I feel sorry for her. < ducks food and barbs thrown at me >
2. My favorite mega-thread was when Mrs. Tyler felt personally offended by the London Olympics opening ceremony because she thought they chose to honor their National Health Service to taunt American conservatives who don't believe in government-sponsored health insurance. Every time I see mention of the NHS anywhere, I think of that thread and shake my head.

Is this myth or fact?
It's talked about occasionally, that someone was off their rocker, threatening self harm, and pea detectives figured out who they were and got cps to do a well check? The pea was not happy about it? Did this occur?

And I'm just gonna say it: I feel sorry for her. < ducks food and barbs thrown at me > I googled her awhile ago after wondering "whatever happened to" and yeah, sounds like it's been kind of rough for her. I chalk her attitude on twopeas to being a young 20-something that thought she knew everything. Now that she's in her 30's it seems like she's in touch with reality.

Not sure that it was a matter of not finding her way here, or still recovering from the lunatic who contacted her employer. However people may have thought of Mrs. Tyler, that will always be the low point of 2peas for me and truly made me wonder about participating.
